I like how Devin is just stopping Sandro from talking about his illegal mods he's done. He's stopping Sandra like "I'm your lawyer right now and I sugguest you don't talk anymore" 😂
Even if he admitted to installing illegal mods there is no legal recourse. It's not illegal to install them, it's illegal to drive with them on public roads. Hell u can mount a .50cal to ur car and it's perfectly legal aslong as it's on ur property lol.

Getting clients to not casually admit to crimes or defeat their own case is half the battle of being a lawyer.
He only admitted to one that was for his car.
@@aaronblackford981 because Legal Eagle stopped him, very likely in parts that were edited out as well. Having Sandro admit to being an active part of LA’s certain car cultures for the past couple decades, that will lose him support from certain sections of the community. Fun fact: the flamethrower at 4:55 is called The Blaster and it actually has an interesting backstory. It wasn’t some crazy, unhinged mod, it was an actual defense mechanism meant to deter carjackers in South Africa. More importantly, it was LEGAL.
See, back in the late 90’s, Johannesburg was the violent crime capital of the world, particularly in carjackings at stop lights. The Blaster was created as a lethal defense mechanism, since the carjackings more often than not resulted in the death of the driver. The South African government ruled that the sale and use of the Blaster was 100% legal on the grounds of self-defense. The only problem was it was super expensive, not counting the custom bodywork required to install it. About 50 units were sold, but poor sales meant it was discontinued a few years later.
Absolutely legal yep
It can't be an automated anti-theft device; but a human-activated self defense tool is (probably) generally legal *IF* lethal force is warranted when it is activated.
So having lived in JHB in the 90's, I'll confirm that this device was NEVER legal in South Africa, it merely took advantage of a loophole in the local legislation. There was a lot of 'hot' 😜 debate around it when it made headlines, only to be confirmed by the SAPS that such devices were completely illegal. It was then replaced by another completely legal version that deployed pepper-laced paint instead.
@@jer1014t2th You're not allowed to have and use illegal devices, even if it is for legal purpose. For it to be legal, either it specifically needs to be made legal, or a flamethrower needs to be legal.
It seems like it was made legal due to circumstances in the given region, but as far as I know, flamethrowers are illegal in US and Europe, at least.
it was legal in South Africa but they are referencing California for the most part, where it would be illegal.

It's kinda wild that, in the US "Oh yeah, that just broke" is an excuse that works on the cops - here in Australia, the cops will stick a Yellow Sticker on your car that basically indicates "this car better be driving to the mechanic to get fixed, and nowhere else" if you say that.
In both countries, as with anywhere else, it’s completely dependent on what’s broken and the attitude of both you and the cop.
In my opinion your explanation of “the yellow sticker” is completely incorrect.
Your car being defected will cost you at minimum, $1000
And removing/tampering with the large sticker in the middle of the windshield isn’t just civil, it’s a criminal offense that will also cost you several thousand more dollars.
I think you’ve misinterpreted something somewhere. A cop might use their discretion to “allow” some sort of infringement on the premise that you are driving without detour to immediately address some issue but it’s not a right, you’d be foolish to take it for granted or mess about as even if being “permitted” you’re still taking a big risk.
Strict rules down there in prison.
@@Jay22222 Sounds like the cops in the land down under are just highway robbers.
It's even better than that! If you get a ticket in Texas for some kind of maintenance issue (which is almost always dismissed in court) then you can actually keep the carbon copy to show to OTHER cops who pull you over for the same problem, so that they leave you alone! Amazing state

4:59 As a South African, i can vouch that Flame throwers are not heavily regulated in South Africa, and there is (Currently) No restriction against arming your car with a flamethrower insofar that it is not lethal.
If you are on flames like that mannequin, you might survive, but you are in need for a doctor real quick! And you´ll be probably disabled after that.
Laws are different in south anyway. In the us you can’t legally modify your car in many ways anymore… we are lucky to be able to make anything legal with some brandy and coke 😂😂😂

In this day and age, the less things you can do to draw attention from the cops, the better.
Sandro's voice going up an octave as he repeats the question: "have I ever installed a flame thrower?" Way to play it cool😆
I think that's an anti carjacking thing that's popular in South Africa
That's when you play the semantics game. "What is a flame thrower really? Define it for me? My car doesn't have flame throwers. If you look at this button here, it clearly says, 'Cast Infernal Retribution for 10,000MP.' Last I knew that wasn't a flame thrower."

Those taillights are completely legal if only used like that when parked. They are using a "dance mode" but act as normal lights when driving.
Also I think the main reason that flashing lights would be illegal while driving is more of confusing other people if you're an emergency/service vehicle, rather than making people confused if you're braking/turning or not.
I wonder what the specific law says. Because over here, even when you are parked, you are considered a 'traffic participant' (if I'm translating that correctly) if you have your engine running and this would be illegal (assuming that is a public parking space of course).
ALL these mods are completely legal if not used on public roads.
@@Shade01982 notice that the lights are pointed towards a sidewalk, away from parking lot, and away the road.

Friendly reminder to lane splitters that as Devin said, speeding is still illegal, but also even if you’re doing the speed limit (65 or 70 or whatever it is) while splitting, if a cop decides it’s reckless driving, you can still get a ticket for it.

That flamethrower thing made more sense in its original context: as a weapon to protect people from the large amount of car jackings in South America.
The issue ended up being that the proliferation of that flamethrower and other self defense weapons just made it so far more car jackings started with the driver getting shot dead, rather than the jacker approaching to take the car without causing excessive harm to the driver.

Here's the other problem with squatted trucks that nobody talks about. I'm an over-the-road truck driver I sit a little bit higher than everybody else you think they take the time to aim those headlights properly? No of course not they might as well be driving down the road with their high beams on blinding every truck driver on the road. Do you want all of us in our 80,000 lb trucks blind?
I don't think a headlight has left the factory properly aimed since the introduction of factory LEDs. Add to this lifts and the current trend of selling lifted trucks new as a way to justify that $50K markup, and I have basically been flashing and driving with my mirrors set so I can't see anything behind me for the past 4 years.
Almost like how new big rig trucks with hid/led headlights blind every car passing them head on?
You mean like that?
Is that what you mean?
hell, i have this problem as a local/short haul driver with just normal cars. people think that because we're in a seat that's mounted above their roofline, their high beams dont reach us. driving in northern michigan at 2am, it's fucking dark. on a clear night, i can see flashing lights 4 miles down the road. please folks, kill the high beams. and all new pickup trucks are entirely too bright, even with the low beams on.
yeah, that, and also you have the crash structure of the vehicle four feet off the ground so if you hit another driver head on your bumper is going straight into their windshield, and then likely flip the rest of the vehicle as the intended method of energy dispersion is waaaay out the window
They have special night driving tinted glasses that would provide some protection against that. But you can't fix stupid.

To all my fellow Californians, looks like as long as we get a permit the flamethrower mod is a go!
Health and Safety Code - HSC 12750 - 12761
(a) “Flamethrowing device” means any nonstationary and transportable device designed or intended to emit or propel a burning stream of combustible or flammable liquid a distance of at least 10 feet.
The State Fire Marshal shall seize any flamethrowing device in the possession of any person who does not have a valid flamethrowing device permit issued pursuant to this part.
@ReedMiller-d9l Doesn't matter because you only get pulled over AFTER using it which is illegal even if you have a permit
Says more than 10 feet, 5 feet I'm fine
The clip they showed mentioned it, but this was specifically designed to protect you from car jackers. It is from South Africa, where that is an issue. The first person from Johannesburg to install it in their car, was the cities police chief.
Interesting how it falls back to that.
What if it didn't shoot flames? What if the car just puffs a cloud of pepperspray? Or a really strong blast of compressed air? An airbag that deploys sideways and Sparta kicks a carjacker back on to the sidewalk?
This just reminded me of the "Trunk Monkey" ads.
In Tennessee, we don't need "permission". We have something called the castle doctrine.
When Colorado switched the toll ways to make motorcyclist pay I started blocking my plates. one day I rode on a toll road with my plates visible not thinking about it then about a week later I got a fat packet in the mail showing me riding my bike through the toll without plates, like every single time I used a toll without plates was in this packet.... then the last photo of me with my plates and a $700+ fee. when I called them about it they said just pay the fee because it'll probably cost me a lot more if they report it.
"Pickleballers of the car world" 😂Devin doesn't miss
The Carolina Squat truck is stupid for another reason: People who are not seat belted can suffer horrific injuries to the head on the edges of the sunroof opening. Up to and including opening your skull and allowing your brain to eject. Driving with your head 1/2 way out of the sunroof is a great way to accomplish this Darwinian feat.
Let Darwinism do it's thing.
I'd say yes let stupid figure itself out, but innocent people are often in the way of stupid. Darwinism sure can work the other way, but a kid seeing this monstrosity coming down the road can't fathom just how fatal it can be.
Sometimes stupid kills stupid. But sometimes it's just a tragedy.
That’s was my first thought seeing that. If he has to brake suddenly at any point his head is going straight into that sunroof and at the very least he’s going to break his nose or say adios to some teeth.
It also looks absolutely retarded! Why the hell would anyone do that to their vehicle is beyond me, may as well overload the box of your truck so you can never carry anything while you're at it you're going to do something stupid like that

100% accurate about the cheap cars with loud exhaust. I see cars like that in my town, and I'm like "why do you want everyone in a 1 mile radius to hear how badly tuned your car is?"
You just have to laugh at the disparity between how cool that guy thinks he is and how dumb everyone else thinks he is.
Or people with loud systems. Cool. Your neighbors hate you and they know where to send people to steal stuff.
They are not lions roaring, just idiots letting them know where they live.
I love the fact Sandro is wearing a tie to look professional. Sandro is carrying Doughnut on his back. I hope he's making bank $$$$

That is the car equivalent of a dog walking while scraping his ass on the floor.
Asshat BMW did this right next my driver's side and I was hurting after he popped. I mean, it was a LOUD explosion and if my window were down, I'd have serious eardrum damage. Dude needs to understand there are some seriously angry men with guns who would definitely ruin his day if he did this to one of them.

You can own a flamethrower in 48 states. You need a permit in California and in Maryland they are banned. You can install side exhausts for "Show" purposes that shoot flames. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
State trooper: this is my truncheon
Devin has strong feelings about modded civics 💀 Sandro’s face was priceless.
"the car equivalent of an overbite" made me struggle to stifle my laughs in the break room
Rule of thumb we have in germany: If it is fun, it is probally illegal
I had a miserable day with customers making stupid and irritating complaints. Then this popped up in my queue, absolutely joyous, haven't laughed at a RUclips video so hard in years. Thank you for this. Consider me a subscriber.

Unexpected collab, but Devin is the right guy to tell you if something is legal or not.
