  • Ok here's the story behind this Limited Run for World Guitars.
    I was born in 1959 so a few years ago when an original 59 Strat became available I bought it.
    So...
    I commissioned Fender to make 4 Strats inspired by my original, ie same neck profile, gauge of fret wire (medium jumbo) and the classic 7.25 radius.
    In 2004 in our workshop at Machinehead Music in Hertfordshire it was refretted with medium jumbo fret wire but I kept the 7.25 vintage radius and it felt amazing.
    My guitar is what they call a transition Strat as has a rosewood fingerboard and an unusual 10 hole single ply white pick guard, sure you know that in the 50's a Strat would of had a maple neck with a maple fingerboard hence the transition period of 1959 to 1960.
    The Jeffocaster is now in stock and its a fantastic guitar!!!

    I listened to both thinking the first one was the jeffocaster and the second one the 59 (I just went to forward to the real demo and didn`t see the sign on the first one, did the same thing later for the other) as soon as i heard the second one i go "ohhhh it sounds nothing like the first one, not even close to the sweetness and it`s so plinky..." i went back to double check cause i couldn`t believe it. Well, it turns out you can`t beat the real deal.

    The real 1959 is somewhat rarer than most 1959s due to the fact that it has a single ply white 10 hole pick guard rather than the 8 hole white or 11 green hole found on most. Pretty clean guitar sure in the hell wasn't gigged thanks

    And the other connection is that Jeff Pumfrett's mate John Hill (whom he played drums in a school band with) and who got him a job at Fender UK, where he met his wife Debbie and opened Machine Head Music, was the guy who introduced signature models at Fender USA beginning with the Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck models which in turn founded the Fender Custom Shop and restarted Fender USA manufacturing and revived the brand.

    Hi Mark thanks for the info, He got his from GAK (not GAL) it's the one that comes up when you search this guitar. I also think his sounds a lot nearer to the original than the one you are playing in the vid, but like you say no 2 sound the same. Were in North Kent (UK) if you ever want to have a look /play of it you're most welcome he also has a Martin D28 1941 authentic which is an amazing guitar,

    The depressing fact is that, the obvious second placer here is still way out of my league! As for the original '59, wow, such a rich pearliness about it's cleans.

    I own a original Shell pink 59 vintage ..and I assure you I have never played a strat that comes close…Now is she worth the current 45k for her…this is ridiculous I admit…but that old brazillian slab board that incredible neck and open sounding pickups…very hard to beat….same goes for my 59 paul…but thats another story….:)

      You are a very lucky man to have such wonderful guitars. Could I ask a question raised by a point in you comment: when you refer to the 'slab board' is that just your casual description or is it actually a thing that happened differently back then in the construction? (Just looked at the date of your comment but will ask anyways!)

( sorry for my english it's not my birth language )

  • @BMRStudio
    @BMRStudio 9 лет назад

    Why all the old strat has a beautiful warm and smooth sound? But is not true on untouched old guitars. I mean, if the guitar is not used a lot. I have one from the 71 and all of my friend a get a crazy on that difference between old and new :) Maybe because the wood particles are moving by the years to the best positions? Who knows.. Anyway, almost everybody can pick and hear the difference, even not musicians. Amazing how the age ans usage give a soul to the old instruments. But this old lady... wow, outperform twice my old strat. Thanks for the video! Greetings from Berlin!

    I agree! you've retained the rounded 7.25 radius fingerboard too keep the specs vintage and original ! Do you happen to know the perfect string height set up measurements for a vintage 7'25 radius fingerboard Stratocaster? I'm experiencing fretting out issues on the 1st E and 2nd B string at the 14th fret. Also will adding a beefier fret wire help the fretting out issues?

    • @worldguitars
      @worldguitars  9 лет назад

      Not everyone wants a 9.5 or compound radius. We tried to keep this run as close to the original as possible. I agree that a setup can sometimes be a pain and may have to include a fret dress to get it to play exactly as you'd want it. Some players just like the feel of the original radius or least thats the feedback we have had and the reason most of the customers bought these guitars.

    • @precbsfender
      @precbsfender 9 лет назад +1

      I love that comfortable chording feel of those 7.25 radius Fender fingerboard's and grew up playing one. But now have decided too move to the vintage look's of a Pre CBS Fender Stratocaster but with modern upgraded 7.25-12" compound radius fingerboard! I've just grown tired and frustrated with the constant pro set up cost on those vintage rounded 7.25 radius's.

    If you want a good Strat or Tele, buy a used BLADE TEXAS Standard Pro or BLADE DELTA Standard with mid-boost like the Eric Clapton Signature-Stratocaster, but BLADES have better wood, better Quality of craftmannship and are used rather cheap, then put your beloved pickups in there and you have a dream guitar, with better woods, better craftmannship, flat neck-body-joint, better playability and better feel for unter the price of a used Fender, but all on BLADE is better! So, why i need a Fender! God said: ,,Let there be BLADE!" and there was!!!!

    Ive heard squires that sound better than that ,rambling on about a 59 strat , i remember when you could buy one for 70 English pounds and you could not give them away , I see no point at all having any guitar if you do not take it out and enjoy playing it , all these stupid prices for vintage guitars pricing themselves out of the market and of course now the prices have halved and most have lost thier money , in my opinion all these vintage guitars are well over rated , most old strats have strat itis , and the fretting is all over the place ,The neck pockets do not fit tight , The 57s are about the best ,however there are far to many good guitar makers now for vintage guitars to sell at stupid prices , you can buy a great guitar now for 500 pounds .I Have a 57 strat myself , and have a 90s strat i payed 550 for that out plays it in every way I use the 1957 as a snap string backup .
