Its got to the point that whenever I see a 60's red strat its more often than not a vintage refinish. Fender made about 2000 red ones in the 60's and only about 15000 are extant.

How I would love a replica of the Great Gary Moore RIP. Loved seeing him play it on his J Hendrix tribute on Blue ray. At 45 on military pension I don't think I'll be able to afford such a guitar that I would play so much through my fender 65 reverb reissue. Any donations from Fender my hand is up. A custom shop Gary Moore what Moore lol can you ask for. Yes I'm a fender nut. I would just love to own something so well done. It's reissue needs to be played not just on display but some great Blues/rock. Please please.

But it's lovely to be able to show you guitars like these, let you see them up close and hear what they sound like. Hopefully we'll get some more 'famous' or historically important guitars to show you. In the meantime, keep watching! Nev.

I Think you did a Good job on showing this guitar from heaven, and offcourse Everyone can Think what they want of relic a guitar (as the custom shop one) but i was somewhat against it before. But then i played the Rory Gallagher strat and my feelings completly changed. I own myself the customshop el diablo relic strat. I have never been so much in love of a guitar. The sound, the feeling it is so great. now i really like the relic thing. I Think it is beutiful to my eyes. But everyone can Think what they want, it is ok. Good we dont Think the same, the world would be so much more boring if we did. And again great to see Garys wonderful strat up close. A piece of history :) have a wonderful life :)

Damn, that's beautiful. Especially that faded-out Fiesta Red. I'd just about give my eye teeth if my pre-CBS Fender basses that I currently own were a custom color like that. I've ran into plenty of pre-CBS vintage stuff here in WV. But, honestly don't recall ever seeing anything in a custom color. Even as a kid, when my parents purchased my first bass, a pre-CBS P-Bass from my cousin, back in the mid 1970's. They've all been sunburst, or natural, with my mid-70's J-Basses.

Have a 93" AVRI 62 in Fiesta red , bought sight unseen and needed a shim, the previous owner had had the guitar planed to 9.5 radius and jumbo frets put in. Was a basket case when bought with the wrong Graph-tech saddles installed. Original 57 62 pickups. Needed a polish and grind and went back with the original bent steel saddles. Paid 1100 for it and put 400 into it to get it back ship shape and anyone who plays it asks to buy it. Have several strats including an EJ Thinline blonde. This guitar is the last strat would ever sell. Bought it because I always loved when Gary would play his . R.I.P. Gary, gone but never ever forgotten.

I don´t care how iconic it is. It´s pleasuring enough to know that certain guitars like Peter Green´s 59 Les Paul or Gilmours Black Strat has featured on several classic recordings. But ultimately it´s the player. It´s just a guitar when the players who owned them pass away.

I wonder if the brighter paint under the forearm isn't just caused by the polishing effect of the buttons on Gary's jacket (from '90 onwards he mostly wore a suit on a stage) if you look at Blixa Bargeld's mustang it has the same thing only in Sonic Blue. The 'knife marks' are due to the buttons and Gary playing hard.

The 'relic' effect is an art form in itself, like an abstract painting, I think it goes far beyond just trying to make a guitar look old and fakely well-used, in fact for me it adds 'mojo' and makes you want to play in a certain way. It's also not unlike the swirl paint effects you get on some rock guitars, each one unique.
It also helps you relax when you gig, and leave it on stage without breaking a sweat, instead of one of those bright almost-too-pristine PRS's etc.
I bought a medium-relic Tele body about 6 years ago, nitro-finish lets the wood breath far more, and a good 80% more wear has happened since then from me playing it, it just had a head start that's all.
    Beautiful guitars, RIP Gary.

I think old well-loved Fenders look nifty, and the replica sounds more sterile and has less warmth and ring to it, but it would improve over time. Strats are a great basic design whatever you do, build your own, hot rod an old Made In Japan model, whatever. The voice of the guitar and the music it inspires you to create is what counts.

I have been fortunate enough to have been left my late fathers Guitars. He was collecting in the 50's up to the mid 90's. In his collection are a few pre CBS Fenders and one is Fiesta red Strat. They are out there still but their very expensive. That said Bucko bought one at Auction for 2 grand. Ok it was in a box in bit's but had a great job done of having it fixed up. I'm left handed, my Dad was not. I learnt to play with the high E off the top, even my left handed Guitars are strung that way. If there is any way you can play a pre CBS Fender, whether it be a Strat, Tele, Jag, Jazzmaster, whatever then try one. Especially the Strat. That 7.5' radius feels slinky. If you play and get the chance, take it.
