I don't get this take, personally I felt the weakest stories of s1 are the obligation scripts eps Xmas, 1, 7 and 8, Space Babies is pretty much Ark in Space with Love and Monsters sense of humour. Love or hate eps 2-5, they are at least noteworthy. I guarantee it'll be the same for s2, for me, Doctor Who desperately needs creativity, not tradition.

I greatly disagree here. Doctor Who is a show that can literally be anything. Every single episode should be doing something radically different and experimenting. Season 1's greatest strength was how it kept breaking the formula. The words "next week on Doctor Who..." should be the most exciting words ever because there's a whole universe of possibilities. I think season 1 had plenty of straightforward stories for my taste: Space Babies, Rogue, and the 2-part finale (that's half the season right there).
I feel like the companion to UNIT pipeline works for some characters and not really for others. It feels less interesting every time we see it and it’s happened a lot. I do like the idea of UNIT watching after people, like Wilfred Mott (rest in peace, Bernie).

Malice, Mischief and Misery, and we know Ep.2 has a “harbinger”. Unleash animation into the world as a game as a form of “mischief” perhaps. Though idk, just a guess.
Despite being more positive on this era, the confirmation that Belinda is just another present day earth companion has finally broken me. I already thought Ruby was derivative, but if her story had more time it may have worked, but to replace her so quickly, especially with another of this tired trope really bugs me, not because it's bad, but I'm so bored by Doctor Who being so cliche. Don't get me wrong, I'll give the season a chance, but I'm not excited for the obligation stories, which is something I'm sad to say, hopefully the mid-season experimental stories will be fun.

I’m betting Mrs. Flood is another member of the Pantheon. And has something to do with film or entertainment. This scene is from the same 1940/50’s movie theatre where the cartoon comes to life and climbs out of the screen. This theory could also explain how she’s able to break the fourth wall and talk to the viewer. Seemingly like she knows she’s on a TV show.
I wouldn’t say Sarah Jane was anti-ùnit. Far from it. She got great with unit during her run on the show. She got on great with Sgt Benton and she even went so far to tease the Brigadier about being a "real," swinger.

To me DR.Who is sci-fi with Character's personal background and context to stories to bring sympathy, dredd, humour and reason to care. The Short preview for Season 2 seems to be a marked improvement on Season 1 which I felt was somewhat clumsy. I felt Joy to the World to be a fair improvement. I did feel Joy becoming a Star was too much and didn't seem to fit the danger. We need more seriousness along with the fun. Which Season 2 looks like it could bring.
The standalone episodes of season 1 were pretty solid... The overarching plot and mystery with the finale reveal was not. I honestly don't care about who Mrs Flood is anymore because I really doubt the answer will be satisfying.

the problem i found with this series was that it wasnt serious enough episode 1 snot monster i didnt like how the babies were done episdoe 2 i didnt actually mind i just hated the whole theres allways a twist song felt uneeded episdoe 3 actualy was serious and felt on the edge so good episode 4 i liked but didnt understand the whole mad jack thing episdoe 5 really didnt like the monsters were quite terryfying but i couldnt stand Dot and the whole message we look to much at our phones episode 6 had potential but i didnt like the idea of cosplaying aliens i was hoping for something more like the clockwork droids where it was a disguise to take over the world episdoe 7/8 felt really rushed sutekh should have been written better like why have sutekh allways been with the tardis and not that he latched on during wild blue yonder

The only non-racist person in Finetime was Ricky September, and he was the only one who broke out of the echo chamber and got educated. It's talking about how social media reinforces one's own beliefs. It also shows how people would prefer to die then embrace new ideas with the people of Finetime refusing the Doctor's help because of their own beliefs. It also just isn't forced. It's very subtly integrated into the story leading to the reveal at the end. And I say this all as someone who would rank Dot and Bubble towards the bottom of season 1.

I'm honestly getting sick n tired of 2005 daleks appearing nowadays they were really good and scary back then, but I think it's totally about time 2005 daleks retire Let us have different new design daleks RTD2 era. I didn't mind the 2010 daleks. I do like the designs except the colours it looks weird. I think the white red blue daleks are alright. But get rid of the yellow and orange daleks. Please just retire the 2005 daleks. There just not scary anymore. They're getting too old for nearly 20 years. I really hope we finally get a new dalek design in the RTD2 with Ncuti Gataw era. Please, just this time for real retire the 2005 bronze daleks forever ending them for good. we have had them for far too long! I think it will be meh. Disney's involvement is going to destroy it. 8 episode seasons are too short to introduce new companions because you have to get to know them to care. Go back to 14 episodes every year. Streaming has ruined everything. They force you to wait for years for new episodes because they only want new subscribers and don't care about their content.

The more we see, the more I’m starting to think the whole ‘TV show within a TV show’ theory bandied round last year is true. Season 1 (and just calling it season one kinda leans into the theory too) really calls back to 9 and Rose in the vibe. This season seems to have callback to both Martha and Donna. Martha in that she’s a medical professional and Donna in that she doesn’t want to be there. It’s also similar to Martha in that both Freema and the new companion actress have been in it before as someone else. I think Mrs Flood could be the god of stories and she’s put the Doctor in a story to contain him. RTD said that there is an unexpected return of a villain from 9’s first series. People have summised it could be Villengard - but that’s been brought up a few times already. What if the villain is Satellite 5? Not a villain on its own but was used to capture people. This could have been manipulated by Mrs Flood. There’s now merch in-universe. Mrs flood said the doctors ‘story will end in absolute terror’ which seems he’s following a predefined path set out for him.
