I disagree. There's been a minor correction to the some of the most absurdly priced watches like the stainless Daytonas. They went from trading at 300% retail down to 200-250%. Still ridiculous. In the meantime, the inflated demand has propagated to every other model. Even Datejusts are hard to get now. High demand and low supply are here to stay, I'm afraid.

Got the new Tudor Black Bay with the red bezel on the rubber strap. Amazing watch for a third of the price of the Sub. Value is incredible with the new movement.
I didn't much like that Daytona before. But the changes they made to the bezel I really don't like. Personally, I consider the Zenith El Primero Sport before to be a copy. Now I consider it to be the better design.
Great vid. Now watch it regularly. Odd that the Explorer 2 black is still middle of the road. It's probably more rugged than the Sub and the best workhorse in Rolex's stable. Couple of notes: Great value for money? A mass produced steel watch for 8000 quid rrp? Think about it. Normal looks like this btw: - Steel sports (except Daytona): rrp-10% - tt: rrp-20% - pm: rrp-25%
More like free money. Zero % interest rates, bounce back loans, furlow payments and 50k hand outs to small businesses inflated asset prices to insane amounts especially luxury watches and bitcoin. Now interest rates are 5.5% and liquidity has left the market there is no reason the secondary prices should be at 2018 levels never mind 2020. Give it another 12 months when more and more people have had to refinance their homes loans and we really will see how low Rolex prices will go.
Great video as per, after a quick bit of advice. I bought a bluesy from the AD back in August, what would be the best ladies model to request this time around, from a not losing mega amounts of money perspective? Thanks in advance.
When I got into watches, a SS Sub date, 16610 was under £3K, and there was no waiting, they were just in the shop. I couldn't afford one then, I'll never get one now.
Hi @thehonestwatchdealer, at 7:35 you mention that watches like Daytona Paul Newman aren't popular, but then you mention at 10:00 that Daytona's yellow gold and rose gold are by far the most popular. How do you mean? What would be a reasonable price for a yellow gold Paul Newman Cosmograph Daytona? I'm thinking of selling mine (quite scratched up, no papers or box). Bucherer first offered to buy it for $34k but then dropped the price to $32k after I inquired 6 months later (this year).
Yes so best to avoid the full precious metal versions. They ones that are popular and good buys are those on the OysterFlex 👍 Very hard to say without seeing the condition and knowing a few other details, and without papers would likely get quite a bit less than the market value I’m afraid
Its not coincidence that the higher-end stuff is failing to sell. When something like a Platona retails for ~71k euro, its no wonder buyers are balking when you're listing a "used" one for 100-120k GBP. Like get real. I know that there was a spike in there where people with more money than sense just had to have one and they were hard to come by, but wealthy people didn't become wealthy by spending frivolously. Reduce the cost of those used ones down close to their retail prices, and I bet you'll get some sales. But hovering over 100k GBP for them is just asking for people to keep walking away.
Mmmm... not sure if i like the new Daytona range, the subdials are a bit small. The two tone black diamond dial is a bit naff compared to the discontinued model. Look like matt gold colour sub dials that don't pop.
I don’t really see a big demand for ghost in US. There are few websites where these watches are sitting for months. I was looking for one and asking around every dealer was dropping their prices to sell. I personally do not like it but settled on a day date below rrp. Great content and lovely watches. Also seem like your are genuine about prices and what market is doing
I just got an oysterflex rose gold chocolate dial skydweler offered to me a week ago and I passed, I actually want to get a white gold day date which is a “bad buy” but that is what I want.
Thanks for the great insight to the Rolex market. I have a Panda Daytona but am hoping the Everose Oysterflex Meteorite prices drop down to Earth to make a trade.

Yeah I’m from Sydney myself and almost everything is way above market value, like I was talking to a grey market dealer in Sydney CBD about a Rolex 14060M which his asking price was $18,500!! For a 2012 Rolex that is insane! He has dropped the price down to $16,500 for me because I am new to the market but idk its still very high for me
The last new Rolex I bought was at 16% below list, from Iconic Watches. I’ve been biding my time, until I buy my next new Rolex at 10% below list as a minimum, for a stainless steel sports model. Anyone who pays over list is dumb. People need to wise up and smell the coffee. Rolex are nice watches, but are worth nothing over list. Believe me, in the future, people will look back in incredulity at how much people were conned into paying for a mass produced watch, especially at the height of the madness. In 2015, I bought a used, and completely mint 16610 Sub Date, full set, for £3750! The seller, could barely move his watches, and his watches were higher priced than most, because they were all full sets In remarkable condition. I bought it from The Swiss Watch Trader in Portsmouth, just for clarity.
Fully agree with your perspective! The AD's don't put Rolex in their showcases, but act as if this is a rare watch. With a little patience, the pendulum will swing back hard into the collector's favor.
Great review as always. Thanks a lot! I am still waiting for Picachu to hit retail price on the grey market. What do you think of OP with celebration dial? Is a good time to buy?
Rolex has screwed themselves with this so-called wait list and forming a “relationship” by purchasing a lesser watch before you can have a Daytona and so on.
Daytonas still strong and new ones will push the others up for the collectors. It will be a long time before you’ll get your hands on a new model Daytona or you will have to pay obscene grey money.
Hey Charlie, love your videos mate. Any chance we could find out how much you buy each watch for (not just what you’re selling for)? I know you’ll understand as a man of honesty and integrity. Cheers. 🍻
Hi Bro, now what's going to be interesting is 116500LN vs. 126500LN. They are so similar yet different. Please share your views on the market sentiments and price fluctuations between these 2 models. Will the 116500LN take a dive after the 126500LN is out for sale in the market?
I completely understand why you are encouraging everyone to go grey for full gold pieces as a grey dealer. IMHO if you spend a couple of grand under list with a grey dealer you get a watch and save 2k. If you spend rrp at an AD you get opened up to more pieces. Depends if you want one watch or the possibility of more doors opening. I know my choice.
The volatility of these prices makes "investing" in watches above MRP seem a pretty foolish idea. If Rolex ramp up production, second-hand watches should surely fall below MRP. With prospectors out of the equation, watch lovers will be back in the game - as it should be.
Great video Charlie! Sounds like you’re not a fan of the new Pikachu missing the black markers. I’m trying to see if my AD will come through for me on the new Pikachu. I won’t pass it up if ever offered, but I must admit I love your Pikachu with the black markers.
I had the opportunity back in 2016 to purchase a platinum Daytona for $35K USD or a Batman at MSRP and stupidly walked away from both because I had no idea that either was as rarely available as it was. I was like, "Oh, those are nice; I'll think about it." /facepalm.

I'd never buy a Rolex from an AD today...they really took advantage of the watch mania these last couple years with all their BS about having to have a couple prior purchases to even be considered for the "privilege" of being able to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a Rolex. I'll continue to wear my vintage 1987 Bluesy I bought new for 3K. Let’s take a minute moment to spare a thought for those who bought from the grey market dealer well over retail.
no, let's take a minute to laugh at them. people get what they deserve.
@@vegasprogambler5336 I understand your sentiment but … oh, I was gonna try ti say something nice but I can’t. I can understand people paying a bit over retail to get their watch… maybe 20percent over retail but I honestly don’t understand how someone could pay 100percent plus for an AP or Hype Rolex.
worse still, buy at peak grey price, only to find out the watch is a replica.
@@wallpaper000 my AD told me about a woman who wore her Rolex for 16 years and took it in when she found out that watches needed to be serviced. She was heart broken to find out it was fake. The AD said that before it left her wrist he knew it was fake.
Must be incredible quality if it lasted 16 years without a service. I know of lots of people who have had to service their Rolex in half that time.
Great video Charlie! Love the content! What do you think of the recently discontinued Daytona Meteorite Oysterflex WG and also the Daytona John Mayer?
Thank you mate, really appreciate it! Both Stunning watches and should be good ones to hold long term 👌
Couple of notes:
Great value for money? A mass produced steel watch for 8000 quid rrp? Think about it.
Normal looks like this btw:
- Steel sports (except Daytona): rrp-10%
- tt: rrp-20%
- pm: rrp-25%
The dirty money is slowly being rinsed out of the watch market
More like free money. Zero % interest rates, bounce back loans, furlow payments and 50k hand outs to small businesses inflated asset prices to insane amounts especially luxury watches and bitcoin. Now interest rates are 5.5% and liquidity has left the market there is no reason the secondary prices should be at 2018 levels never mind 2020. Give it another 12 months when more and more people have had to refinance their homes loans and we really will see how low Rolex prices will go.
How is market for Sky Dweller White Gold/Black Dial with Oysterflex ? RRP still good deal from AD?
Unfortunately this one is quite underlist at the moment, same with the other Sky-Dweller OysterFlex models 👍
Brilliant vid Charlie great information on how the watch market is going I'm liking the oyster flex more and more Jubilee still on top
Thank you mate really appreciate it! Ah yes the OysterFlex will take the lead in no time I’m sure 😉
Rolex is a 3rd tier watch. Great watches for people who have lots of cash but very little understanding of watches.
Great video as per, after a quick bit of advice. I bought a bluesy from the AD back in August, what would be the best ladies model to request this time around, from a not losing mega amounts of money perspective? Thanks in advance.
Thank you mate, really appreciate it!
Try and go for a fluted/jubilee, MOP or Pink dials are great ones to go for 👌
When I got into watches, a SS Sub date, 16610 was under £3K, and there was no waiting, they were just in the shop. I couldn't afford one then, I'll never get one now.
Yes unfortunately the AD games have gotten much worse since those days, hopefully you’ll get one some day mate 🙏
No point in growing to they grey market, err why? I have never waited more than 9 months , even for the most desirable pieces??!!
They ones that are popular and good buys are those on the OysterFlex 👍
Very hard to say without seeing the condition and knowing a few other details, and without papers would likely get quite a bit less than the market value I’m afraid
Please share your views about the Sea Dweller 43 red line 50th aniversary.
Stunning model mate, I'll see what I can do 👌
Will you carry the 1908 or is it too different from other rolexes for you to hold it?
Would be one we look to get in if we come across any, very nice watch! 👌
What are your thoughts on purchasing a 116520 white-dial anytime soon? I keep saying it's a good time to buy but prices keep going lower....
Very hard to say! Definitely a buyers market at the moment, hard to say where they will stabilise currently 👍
how does it work when shipping to the US from your website ? what types of fees are added?

Great video. How’s the market on the meteorite BLRO?
Still a good model to go for if you get the call 👍
That Ghost is a thing of beauty
One of the most stunning models isn't it 👌
oh i put my rolex daytona black dial ,order in the ad back in April, i wonder if i get the call
Hopefully you get the call soon mate - great choice 👌
How about the new GMT-Master II released at Watch and Wonders are those available on gray and relative to msrp?
Thank you for watching mate, still slightly above list this ones to buy - stunning model 👌
Ah yes there are some very subtle changes. Maybe they will grow on you eventually 👌🏻
Cant wait to see the comparison of the new Daytona's. I had been wondering when they would hit the market. Looking forward to it! Thank you sir!
Hopefully should start hitting the market soon, would make a great video 👌
I don’t really see a big demand for ghost in US. There are few websites where these watches are sitting for months. I was looking for one and asking around every dealer was dropping their prices to sell. I personally do not like it but settled on a day date below rrp.
Great content and lovely watches. Also seem like your are genuine about prices and what market is doing
Thank you mate really appreciate that! Yes there are different markets throughout the world, the Ghost is very popular over here 👌🏻
Americans have shite taste.
It's just a bizarre purchase for what would be the equivalent of $40k. Who wouldn't just get an AP?
Everyone has different tastes for me AP is not something I like
I just got an oysterflex rose gold chocolate dial skydweler offered to me a week ago and I passed, I actually want to get a white gold day date which is a “bad buy” but that is what I want.
Go for what you love and you can’t go wrong 👌🏻
Thanks for the great insight to the Rolex market. I have a Panda Daytona but am hoping the Everose Oysterflex Meteorite prices drop down to Earth to make a trade.
You are welcome and thank you for watching!
Would be fantastic if you manage to get your hands on the Meteorite Oysterflex, such a stunning watch 👌
Bought a 126610LV a few months back, traded my LN plus cash… I thought it was the more unique nicer watch to have but what do people think, move back to classic LN or keep LV? I would have lost a few grand in the process but more in it just for a watch to enjoy and hopefully get majority of money back if ever needed to sell in future
Nice choice, definitely stick with which you are going to wear and enjoy the most 👌
Very informative as always Charlie my man
I would be interested to hear your thoughts on how you think the Rolex Certified Pre-Owned programme will effect used values, do you think once it is fully rolled out we will see used values shored up in any way or will the downwards trend continue ?
Thank you Ronald, appreciate that, thank you for watching once again!
Definitely something I could look into for future content, will be interesting to see what happens once it rolls out 👌
@@thehonestwatchdealer I think that would make a great video Charlie, I've heard various people speculating on this with differing opinions but I'd love to hear your take on it. Your channel has now become THE authority on the state of the UK watch market 👍
@@ronaldJ262 Ah thank you mate, really means a lot! Really appreciate it 🙏
Is Daytona Paul Newman popular? Which is more popular: Geumtong or Oysterplex?
The Paul Newman is an incredibly popular model, yes 👌🏻
Not here in the USA. No stock and nothing near RRP. Used sub mariners $15,000 plus.
Ah yes everywhere has their own Markets, hopefully they will become more available to you soon 🙏
When you talk about prices, can you do the USD conversion aswell? That would be greattttt
Hi Bryan thank you for watching, going to look into this and get it sorted 👍
I like your channel very much. Would it be possible for you, to add timestamps to your videos? It would be so helpful. Thanks alot!
Thank you mate appreciate that - such a great idea, I will see what I can do! 🙏
Most I could get for my mint green DJ 41 smooth bezel Jubilee was £8k ..and it took a few weeks
Unfortunately the mint has come down a bit since release, at least it sold in the end 👍
Thanks so much Charlie...yet another SUPERB review of the current Rolex market. You sir are a credit to the watch collector community!!
Thank you mate I really appreciate that! Thanks for watching 🙏
I don’t know where the bargains are but here in Australia they seem still extremely expensive with the currency conversion they are almost double to what is retail here.
Yeah I’m from Sydney myself and almost everything is way above market value, like I was talking to a grey market dealer in Sydney CBD about a Rolex 14060M which his asking price was $18,500!! For a 2012 Rolex that is insane! He has dropped the price down to $16,500 for me because I am new to the market but idk its still very high for me
In Canada, in the Secondary Market, a new GMT Master ii is double retail or more depending on which GMT you want.
These are great! Look forward to this each month. Would love to see a video on the difference between European vs US markets.
Thank you mate glad you enjoy them! That would make an interesting video 👌
So is the price of Batman and Two ton GMT is same now?
Bi-Metal still a touch higher currently 👍
These fellas know what’s coming.
Come the new year they’ll be rrp or below
Fully agree with your perspective! The AD's don't put Rolex in their showcases, but act as if this is a rare watch. With a little patience, the pendulum will swing back hard into the collector's favor.
Great review as always. Thanks a lot! I am still waiting for Picachu to hit retail price on the grey market. What do you think of OP with celebration dial? Is a good time to buy?
Thank you mate really appreciate it it!
Prices have come down and stabilised, could be a good time to pull the trigger!
It’s never a good time to pay £20,000 over retail they still can’t move the Tiffany dial keep your money.
good to wait, the pikachu will be readily available in ADs in about 3 weeks time. celebration dial is perfect timing to buy now!
Rolex has screwed themselves with this so-called wait list and forming a “relationship” by purchasing a lesser watch before you can have a Daytona and so on.
The old daytona references will likely go up in price, as customers will see that the prices of the new references will absolutely sky-rocket...
Will be very interesting to see what happens! 👌🏻
Daytonas still strong and new ones will push the others up for the collectors. It will be a long time before you’ll get your hands on a new model Daytona or you will have to pay obscene grey money.
Would be good if it plays out like that 👌🏻 the new models are just starting to hit the market now so we will see what happens 👍
rowleks ad finally called! What is best watch to buy and flip to timepiece getnleman to consign and sell for big $$ ??

Hi Bro, now what's going to be interesting is 116500LN vs. 126500LN. They are so similar yet different. Please share your views on the market sentiments and price fluctuations between these 2 models. Will the 116500LN take a dive after the 126500LN is out for sale in the market?
Will be very interesting to see indeed! I will see what I can do and try and cover it 👌
@thehonestwatchdealer Thank you
For the first time in three years I went into Rolex and was offered a steel and gold submariner straight away
Very nice! Great watch 👌🏻
flippers and grey dealers getting burnt .. love to see it
What are your current feeling about the blusey?
Incredible watch and will always be one of the sought after classics 👌
I completely understand why you are encouraging everyone to go grey for full gold pieces as a grey dealer. IMHO if you spend a couple of grand under list with a grey dealer you get a watch and save 2k. If you spend rrp at an AD you get opened up to more pieces. Depends if you want one watch or the possibility of more doors opening. I know my choice.
Yes very true, getting one from the AD and taking a bit of a hit will definitely open the doors to the other more popular models 👌
Thank you mate! Hopefully you get offered the new one soon, fingers crossed for you 🤞
Any news that the Pepsi is discontinued?
Nothing official as of yet! 👍
What do you think about the Rootbeer? Supposedly discontinued after October?
Stunning watch 👌🏻 Will be interesting to see what happens…

@@ronaldJ262 The source is his ass! No one knows what Rolex will discontinue or introduce, not even ADs
I had the opportunity back in 2016 to purchase a platinum Daytona for $35K USD or a Batman at MSRP and stupidly walked away from both because I had no idea that either was as rarely available as it was. I was like, "Oh, those are nice; I'll think about it." /facepalm.
Ah Nevermind, you can’t win them all!
Hopefully you will get the opportunity again some day! 🙌
How much are you buying the DJ41 blue fluted jubilee 2023 new unworn for?
Couple of £100 over retail at best
Yes great watch, should be slightly over list this one 👍
Prices for everything are tanking…in fact you can’t get a bid for a lot of gear now. Full on recession coming down the pipe.
Investors should exercise caution with their exposure and exercise caution when considering new investments, particularly during periods of inflation. It is advisable to seek guidance from a professional or trusted advisor in order to navigate this recession and achieve potential high yields
dr no bond wore a sub on a nato
that was a cool look
personally i think rolex are missing a trick with natos
omega have them galore
In Dr No it was actually a leather strap. The Nato showed up in Goldfinger when we see 👀 the famous wrist shot of Connery's Submariner
Ah yes it would be great if they incorporated them at some point! 👍
I think Starbucks holding strong as it’s hard to get ! What you think ?
You are right there 👌🏻
Better value at the AD
Historically luxury items do really badly when inflation falls. It’s no surprise really. Also supply from the ad has increased significantly. Buyers just not buying
Well 70’s had high inflation, 80’s as well, prices on watches increased steadily in those years so that’s not entirely true.
The secondary gray watch market is dead in a backyard swimming pool floating face down ..

That’s a really long wait for a Bluesy with that spend! Hopefully they get the call soon 🤞

The quality of the Reps starting to impact budget buyers ..
I never bought a rolex in 2015 for making money from i bought it as i liked it, plus then the shit you got to deal with now getting a rolex didnt exist
That’s the best way to go about it! Different times back then 👍
I'd never buy a Rolex from an AD today...they really took advantage of the watch mania these last couple years with all their BS about having to have a couple prior purchases to even be considered for the "privilege" of being able to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a Rolex. I'll continue to wear my vintage 1987 Bluesy I bought new for 3K. The tide is turning and I see a lot of pain for the "flippers" who completely ruined the watch market for those that just wanted a nice luxury watch to actually wear and keep.
Incredible watch you have there, continue to wear and enjoy and it should last a lifetime! Thank you for watching 👌🏻
8:40 telling folks to go straight to the gray market for GMTs “because the market is dead” but still asking higher prices than retail😂 these gray dealers are just afraid that they’ll lose on their stock when prices drop more and watches from the AD become more availble and people will just sign up and wait a few months to get them at retail
