This is a nice video explaining how to sell yourself to an AD I had no clue about this and I just saved up for a Rolex submariner no date. I went in and told him my story of creating a song and setting aside my royalties for this goal! I achieved it. The salesman also was in the music biz at one point and we hit it off. I’m “on call”. He didn’t want to call it a list but at least I’m waiting. I showed up a second time as well hoping. And hopefully my 2nd visit was good. Next time I go I might just buy something else to get the ball rolling.
This is all supply and demand, economy takes a dump and you can avoid all this stupidity and get the watch you actually want no play childish games. I’ve bought a GMT and a submariner walking into an AD in Vegas no games.
tbh, some models are instantly available, was on holidays in Italy, just went into an AD store randomly - they offered me instantly a steel explorer + a steel seadweller. Wasn't interested in those models tough. So yeah - zero relationship, I just went in and asked straight away about the model i was interested in and got offered those.
That is crazy, I bought my sub date in 2004 in the Bahamas for about 5k US. The wife and I just walked in off the street wearing our swim suits and started browsing over the Rolex watches, the sales person that was assisting us couldn't slap watches on my wrist fast enough, I ended up picking the Sub Mariner Date. The whole process took about an hour and I walked out of the store wearing my new watch. I can't believe you guys go through all of this just for a watch.
All respect to your advice but until the AD shows respect to me as a customer without having to talk much I'm not in need for the Rolex watch. What's wrong with buying other beautiful Swiss watches like Omega or Longines without such effort. I buy a watch to enjoy wearing but will never beg to get a watch. Sorry this is sad.
I remember buying my first Rolex and nobody in the store would even talk to me. Workers were chatting and reading magazines. Finally a young man came up and asked me if I needed any assistance. I pointed Ted to the watch that I wanted and left with it.
I walked into an AD on a random Saturday. Tried on a Rose Gold Yacht Master and loved it. The sales lady walked to a cabinet, pulled out a box and said “oh we actually have that one available for sale today.” All I had to do was go in there with a friend who had just bought one for himself and another one for his wife. Easy peasy.
Without doubt, supply is increasingly hugely. My local AD 2 months ago had nothing but exhibition pieces . Two weeks ago, they without any exaggeration , 40% in the window were for sale as in walk-ins. OPs in black, various date just's, various sky dwellers, root beers, root beers, root beers all rose gold, and a few more. The increase in supply is being seen across so many ADs. Oh and numerous yachtmasters , in platinum, stainless steel, and rose gold. The flippers have all but dissapeared, grey market dealers are holding/cannot sell inventory they have had for a year or more. Their fault they are still asking for mad covid prices.
Rolex really has shot itself in the foot with the way they’ve chosen to go to market with this crazy (And I’m going to say it) insulting and archaic sales tactics. I’m more than able to afford a 18k Rolex Daytona oysterflex, in fact I’ve visited several ADs over the last two months to do just that and each time I’ve been treated like something someone has trod in. For this reason I will never buy a Rolex. What world is this guy living in? “Drag your family in to discuss holidays”. Really. Honestly, You and people like you are the cause of this mess. People. Vote with your feet. When all these ADs have no outlets for their stock because all the grey market dealers are overstocked and no longer buying from them, Rolex will soon want the “normal” general public back into their “museum” ADs stores.
You are spot on. Relationships are everything. If you want something that not everyone can have, you have to stand out from the crowd. This is not just a Rolex thing, this is life. You don't have to spend money on unwanted jewelry etc to build the relationship. Bring them a cake from a fine desert shop nearby on a holiday and tell them you appreciate them helping you get the watch you want. Tell them to share it with the entire staff there so everyone knows who you are and you...........stand out.
This reminds me like a famous spanish Bull fighter (they used to get a lot of money) who wanted to by a Ferrari in the 90s but they refused him. So he spent the same amount ofmoney in a different car brand and probably that car came with more extras. So my point is anyone can do whatever they want with their money and life, but If a company does not want you to sell something, do not beg to pay.
I bought a Grand Seiko at an AD in Nagoya recently. I did not need to tell a compelling story that demonstrated my value and worthiness to the sales person.
Once day I went to the Rolex dealer and was just looking and the guy saw what my wife was looking at. He told her he had two watches and the one my wife wanted was being picked up already. He said if the person doesn’t pick it up in 30 minutes he would sell it to us. The time passed and we had our first Rolex day just. He put us on the list. The second time we went there with my daughter and I picked up a vintage Rolex she wanted. That was the second watch. A total of 10 months went by when I got my Submariner Starbucks. All bought from the same AD. Now waiting on the celebration for my son‘s graduation gift. I have time.
I made an appointment in a AD in Norwich today. After a lot of trying on and great conversation, I was offered a date just. 😊. No pomp just a really nice store and a really nice guy.
I rolled in to my AD, and asked to register for a white gold fluted bezel , blue dial DJ, with a jubilee bracelet and Roman numerals. She’s typing away and then says, I have that exact watch here, but you will have to wait two hours to wait to see if the guy who ordered it shows up. I came back 1 hour and 45minutes later, and she gave me the watch! Was my first purchase with Rolex and one of my greatest days I’ve had in a long time. I was wearing my omega moon phase when I walked in, walked out with the DJ on my wrist and omega in my pocket lol
The question is: Do I actually still want a Rolex? I saw way too many people with one after the initial thought and eventually started looking around more. Eventually bought a different brand with a similar price, I love it every day for myself, and it came with an amazing memory. Bought it with the love of my life in Zurich Bahnhofstraße and will remember this for the rest of my life. Moral of the story: Don’t buy it for the fame, buy it for you.
Don't play the AD game... It's only a matter of time before you'll be able to buy the watch you want. Why would you sell your soul to a sales rep just to give them your money. Prices are slowly reducing and it's only a matter of time before you'll be able to purchase the timepiece you'd like. Playing the AD game and buying jewellery you don't want is a pointless exercise where the only winner is the AD. Supply and Demand
Hi Phil. That annoying ping in the background is your fire alarm telling you to replace the battery. Given where you live and Grenfell as a warning get it done please. We all love you and wouldn't want anything to happen to you. Love the podcasts. Howard
This is laughable. I walked into a CD Peacock, in July, and bought a brand new Rose Gold Sky Dweller with a slate face then, literally yesterday, I walked into the same place and bought a brand new Datejust 31 slate with diamonds. The Sky Dweller is for sale.
it depends on what country you are in. Where I am the AD's will sell you what theh have in stock. No game playing. Now if you ask for something very specific it can take 3-6 months to get but they will get it for you.
Rolex make around a million watches every year, effectively mass-produced. Yes, they are good, solid, well-constructed watches. I bought a couple from my local AD a few years ago and the purchase experience was a simple and painless process back then. Would I go through this ridiculous bs to get one now? Absolutely not! The thought of sucking up to a salesperson so that they maybe, possibly, if I'm really fortunate, decide whether I'm worthy enough to be allowed to spend my money in their establishment borders on lunacy. They should change their name from 'AD' to 'MAD' (maybe authorised dealer). I'm quite happy with my Omega/Breitling/Longines/Hamilton/Seiko/Casio purchases. Thank you very much and goodbye.
In most businesses, Rolex tactics would be called hustling or scamming. Maybe that's why the brand attracts so many undesirables and try-hards these days.
First time I went into my local AD I got put on “the list” and never got the call. I did get a text asking if I wanted to buy Tudors… point 4 is very accurate. I’ll never be getting a call from them. I called another AD and explained I live a few hours away but willing to drive and they put me on “the list.” However I check in with this AD every few weeks and he gives me an estimated timeline based on the current amount of pieces he gets in. He has even offered me several pieces that he has had in recently. I’m just not that interested in a MOP dial DJ 😂
I’ve been on an AD waiting list for a GMT Batman since 2021. I’ve literally driven them mad and the Manager has told me that I will get a watch this year after September.
It's very suspect that he's so specific. Maybe he's planning on leaving that location sometime before September or is transferring careers or states or what not around July or August 😂. I wouldn't hold my breath man. Clearly they don't value you as a customer or your time.
@@mattlatorra264 Maybe they knew that by then the market would have dropped even further as they may now be noticing that the customers that were so desperate for Rolexes are few and far between. Do you know anyone in the last few years that have walked into an AD and have been welcomed and offered anything. Being a Rolex AD is known as a privilege and if you see that big green sign outside you take it that they are an upmarket jewellery business. So if Rolex is a brand that is keeping their business going Why are they still in business and not gone bankrupt because everytime you ask if you can buy a watch they say Sorry but we don’t have any for sale. It’s absolutely laughable.
I've been on the wait list for a BLNR since 21 too. I've bought a no date, DJ41 and a Rado however the AD told me I'd have to wait some more which isnt an issue as i wont be able to make the purchase until 2025. He did say that they're recieving more BLNR's than they used to. I've asked for the OP Tiffany 36mm which AD told me will be a 6 month to 1 year wait
go to Rome - AD there - got it offered there instantly as a tourist by just walking in and asking for a particular datejust. Didn't take it tough since I don't like the explorer very much.
You may never own a Rolex but at least you will have always have kept your dignity. And there isn't one material object in life that's worth compromising that. At least not a stainless steel mass produced watch.
As an AD I can confirm these steps don’t work unless you do a bonus 8th step which is bringing your parents, your siblings, your partner’s parents and siblings, and performing a ‘We Will Rock You’ song by Queen.
This sounds more like a job interview, not a pleasurable shopping experience. I am there to buy the item that I want; not to make friends or to build a relationship. Why do I have to share my personal information with a boutique and beg them to hopefully take me money? Why is the world like this now? Luckily, I owned 2 Rolex already, was Interested to purchase a new lady date-just. I went into the boutique and left my info. But if it takes what’s mentioned in this video, then never mind. I am wearing the watch to please myself not to show off. It’s only a want, not a need or a must have. They don’t want to sell, I will gladly take my money to other brands.
I own a sea dweller 16600 and was in the market to build my rolex collection. However, videos like this has and my recent experience at the AD convinced me to never buy another rolex.
I predicted this guy’s vid before watching it, and look, he did a good job here. I’m not knocking him. And quite frankly, I think he’s right! I’m just not going to beat around the bush or lick my AD’s tush…. I’ll just continue to buy from grey dealers, pay a premium, and I’ll have a watch tomorrow. I’d rather do that instead of trying to establish fake relationships, acting fake, and just generally trying to nurse my way to a Rolex at retail…🤣 Fuck all that-I’ll keep my dignity and self-respect intact-I’m going to overpay TODAY, while still retaining my ballsack. 💯
I don’t know if I need to spend money on items I don’t really want, why not just go grey and get what you want? I don’t think their markup is more than what you would spend on diamonds and jewelry. I think most styles are available barring a Daytona.
I’ve had 45 Rolex in my day, mostly 2002-2005. Never paid over retail. Never had an issue getting what I wanted when I walked in. Today way over priced. Not paying $10k plus for a sub date. All these luxury brands who have limited self will end up paying long term. Make your product and make it available to all. Money is money, buying stuff on the side makes no sense. You want it? Find a good grey dealer and pay $1500 over list get it next day full warranty.
My AD has been kind, gave me a sub after 3 months with no purchase history. I put my name down again for a batgirl, I don't mind waiting as he's been very nice to me
The process to buy a Rolex from an AD is kind of crazy when if you like watches, you most likely are not limited to Rolex. Instead, you could take that 15k and get a very nice Omega or Tag and still have money to grab a nice dinner after you just walked into the store and bought it. If I walk into a shop and the person there expects me to grovel to them I will leave. This is the same for a nice car, nice clothes, anything.
This ought to be the most cringe thing I’ve watched on RUclips. I couldn’t even get past the 1:03 mark. Crazy. This was not my experience by any standards.
I went to a big dealer in England. I asked the price of a battery change and minor repair for a Swiss gold watch. He refused to give me an approxc figure. In fact he was on the phone to his mate and proceeded to wrinkle is nose and say "oh nothing just someone wanted a battery and repair". I then emailed head office, who refused to provide an email address for the director. Said I had to write. This was Goldsmiths ie Aurum group in England Since then they have lost many thousands in business from me. I won't deal with cowboys when spending pennies. So I won;t deal with em when spending small fortunes. Rolex and Aurum have gone Gerald Ratner ie have destroyed their own credibility.
I've been to 2 Rolex A.D. and saw half a dozen customers requesting to buy Rolex and they all take their names down and no one walked out with a watch. I begin to think why? Are they loaded with bs and really trying to select their customers. Those people have the money ready to buy. Maybe they genuinely don't have enough Rolex watches in stocks. I was at the biggest A.D and was there for 1 hr at least 5-6 people mostly tourists wanted to buy a Rolex.

Step number 1 is wrong . I went and asked for a Rolex and got one. They have a lot of models in stock now. No more of those silly games!
what? where
@@justinliu1014 up the shaft and around the corner, in due time you hit the prostate and you get a zinc daytona.
😂
tbh, some models are instantly available, was on holidays in Italy, just went into an AD store randomly - they offered me instantly a steel explorer + a steel seadweller.
Great video for repeating what we know and have watched 1million times before…
All respect to your advice but until the AD shows respect to me as a customer without having to talk much I'm not in need for the Rolex watch.
I pointed Ted to the watch that I wanted and left with it.
all that bs just to buy a watch, damn
daaaaammm
I walked into an AD on a random Saturday. Tried on a Rose Gold Yacht Master and loved it. The sales lady walked to a cabinet, pulled out a box and said “oh we actually have that one available for sale today.” All I had to do was go in there with a friend who had just bought one for himself and another one for his wife. Easy peasy.
“I’d rather this watch goes to the home where it’s loved and taken care of” I’m just trying to buy a watch not to adopt a child…
Please let me know the AD, I want to buy the black OP as a walk in (so far nothing but unavailable for me)
Hihi would love to know which AP pls! Thank you!
Please let me know that AD please, nothing stock near mine 😢
Name the AD. Otherwise, this post is bs

People will say you are correct to reduce the competition for watches lol
You are spot on. Relationships are everything. If you want something that not everyone can have, you have to stand out from the crowd. This is not just a Rolex thing, this is life. You don't have to spend money on unwanted jewelry etc to build the relationship. Bring them a cake from a fine desert shop nearby on a holiday and tell them you appreciate them helping you get the watch you want. Tell them to share it with the entire staff there so everyone knows who you are and you...........stand out.
Got my first Rolex from my local AD at the beginning of last year. Been over a year and still waiting for the call for my second piece!
Step 8, don’t listen to any of this bullshit.
Nobody is fighting for a Grand Seiko
And I’m not fighting to buy any watch. Also, not trying to impress a sales person for a watch, either.
Are we finding a mate or a watch? 😂😂😂. Just buy an omega and call it a day.
Holy moly. That's way too much work to purchase a status trinket.
Where I go on holiday is none of Rolex's business.
Haha so technically Rolex owners are ball lickers of AD 😂😂😂😂
Called an authorized Rolex dealership. Was polite kind, wanted to purchase a no date submariner. Two weeks later, got the call, made the purchase.
Moral of the story: Don’t buy it for the fame, buy it for you.
sir what watch are you wearing in this video? thanks!
I’ve never seen a more convincing Omega ad in my life
Don't play the AD game...
That’s ok, which country is that? I’m guessing in Europe
What country?????
Fantasy Island
What country is that please?
Where do you live? Wonderland?
I bought physical gold and silver instead of another expensive watch. Best decision I ever made.
Got my Rolex in 2012 - Walked in asked for the watch, paid and walked out.. Glad I managed to get one before this started happening.
do you want to fuck the salesman or to buy something
You just gave me 7 reasons now to buy a Rolex. Thanks
what watch are you wearing? Tudor?
ironic right, chewda
Ever since I bought a watch from MaMaCoo , My question is if it's this hard to tell them apart, what is the point of owning an authentic watch?
If you don’t get it within 12 months you are never getting it in the rule.
@@rah5500 Where is the AD ?
After 15 months of waiting, I just got my Date Just 2 days ago. Very happy 😊
I'll never own a Rolex because I'll never play these games. Shame because i would buy an explorer 1 if i could.
go to Rome - AD there - got it offered there instantly as a tourist by just walking in and asking for a particular datejust. Didn't take it tough since I don't like the explorer very much.
@@MagisterBoomslang not worth the additional cost of traveling and staying there.
Buy it second hand - they’re the same price as the AD
Great honest review brother👍🏻that’s what you face when you enter a AD
Love these videos! My only wish is that you posted 3x more!
Why are we begging the AD to buy an expensive watch with our hard earned money?
You don't really need these steps these days. I bought two watches off the same AD within a 10 week period. Bluesy and 36mm explorer.
Rolex is building three new factories.. Soon..
Really link?
My AD has been kind, gave me a sub after 3 months with no purchase history. I put my name down again for a batgirl, I don't mind waiting as he's been very nice to me
This is right. I did something similar and got my watch. A lot sooner than I was expecting too 👊🏽
Today I wear an omega, breitling and seiko and Apple Watch. I sold all my Rolex. Too many have them
I think it works a bit differently if you aren’t after an entry level watch
The process to buy a Rolex from an AD is kind of crazy when if you like watches, you most likely are not limited to Rolex. Instead, you could take that 15k and get a very nice Omega or Tag and still have money to grab a nice dinner after you just walked into the store and bought it. If I walk into a shop and the person there expects me to grovel to them I will leave. This is the same for a nice car, nice clothes, anything.
I've only got five Rolexes, but I like their older vintage pieces that have that aged tritium markers on the dials.
only five? So plebeian...
This ought to be the most cringe thing I’ve watched on RUclips. I couldn’t even get past the 1:03 mark. Crazy. This was not my experience by any standards.
When I go into my AD, the staff appear to be different every time……
Should I have my grey market acquired gmt on my wrist when I go to the AD?
In summary, the process of purchasing a Rolex is similar to adopting a child!!!
This was Goldsmiths ie Aurum group in England
Since then they have lost many thousands in business from me.
I won't deal with cowboys when spending pennies. So I won;t deal with em when spending small fortunes.
Rolex and Aurum have gone Gerald Ratner ie have destroyed their own credibility.
@Phil Do they judge you when you wear a tracksuit
that is why buying a Rolex inside an airport is way more convenient. You will only have to deal with 1 person most of the time.
Very nice tips!
Bro I ain’t brown nosing to no salesman.
Hi Phil . How do I check for verification of my Rolex warranty and purchase on line with Rolex (Official) website? Thx
Litterly got a call yesterday after waiting 2 and a half years
