@@WaaDoku Yes, true. However, they don't have to verbally correct you. Often you can tell by the look that you said something wrong. Then you get to correct that either by asking them or just looking up where you went wrong or just asking someone close who does know it.
I'm studying Japanese right now myself. I can verify "Tony's" unnatural Japanese is straight out of the textbook. Also I loved it when Tony suddenly turns into a geezer.

This is how you learn Japanese. By having a native speaker correct you while conversing.
Only that native speakers would never correct you. Unless they are very very very close friends and not that shy lol
