I do a/c in cars i build interiors in & never drill the firewall. I make my own mounting plate/brackets from .090 5052 aluminum & urethane them in place the bolt the unit in 👍
Getting ready to install a vintage air setup on my non factory A/C 70 GTO LS 3 swap. I smoothed out the firewall. I was orginally going to mount the outer cover plate on the inside firewall. Thinking To make a rigid support and then have threaded studs come out to mount the evap bracket. But now from watching your video i realize no access to bolts when mounted. I am gonna try your bracket design. It Looks simpler amd i can elimate the plate cover...sometimes i over think on my setup. You did the trial and error stages . Just makes my job easier now...thanks for sharing your video..
Man I'm filling your pain I'm about to fir one on a Australian car being right hand drive all the hoses need 180" bends I'm making my own cradle for the unit with feet to mount from the transmission hump Should be a interesting project Cheers for your video
That looks clean ! Extra work definitely pays off 💯🔥

Just what I needed. Gonna do this on my 79 Suburban that I shaved the firewall and don't want those ugly bolts going through.
Great idea, only thing I would change is to weld the nut on the inside of the bracket so you only need 1 wrench in that tight spot
Nice bro. Great idea! 💪🏽
