- #257. Resin AND Hairspray? DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!
In todays Resin Art experiment, we find out what happens if we mix resin with hairspray!
In the first resin experiment, we spray directly onto the resin to see how it reacts and what happens when exposed to the UV lamp.
In the second resin experiment, we mix the resin with the hairspray!
Again, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!
The results were unlike any effect I have ever seen in resin and it was a very interesting yet scary experiment! I was able to create some very unique looking resin art jewelry from these pieces!

Daniel to me those resin pieces look like a crystal farm. A couple of these look absolutely gorgeous. I would also be interested in seeing one with powder before the hairspray. What about coloured hairspray? Would it make coloured streaks or bubbles? I do prefer the black background. Great experiment. Thanks for sharing.

As somebody with a background in chemistry, it scares me if anyone mixes chemicals just to see what happens.
I have a background with lots of chemicals, you are totally correct, definitely not one to try at home! It's important to share the do's and don'ts, for anyone now searching anywhere for Hairspray in resin, this video will show up and advise them not to try it 😁

I wonder what would happen if you mixed in the hairspray, and then put the resin in degassing chamber? before curing it. to measure the hairspray, you could get the non-aerosol pump kind too.

😂😂😂 they took so many hairs out when I peeled them off 😂
I sand starting at 600 then 1000,2000,4000,6000, then 12,000. Then I used the Novus plastic polishing system for buffing. Using a dremmel and a buffing wheel did step 3 through 1 twice each layer. Step three two times, then 2 two times, then 3 two times buffing with dremmel every step. Then, a layer of Meguiars car wax that is wax free. Buffing this out with the dremmel. It was the best smoothest finish I have ever gotten. Smoother than silk!!! My customer was so pleased and astonished at how smooth the resin was.

I like the one with the black back on it better than the white. It brings the color out much more within the item.
When the torch came out, my eyes nearly fell out of my head 😳. 😅. Really interesting effects on those pieces. They put me in mind of water that’s been caught mid boil. Quite mystical and moody. The princess thing has to happen now Dan or the angry mob will descend 😂

I will add, it may be worth trying it with fixative spray instead.
You can use hair spray to fix dry media, but you run the risk of it yellowing over time.
The same may potentially happen with resin.
Those are very pretty, but once again , dangerous experiments. Wonder which ingredient in the hair spray causes the reaction. I think princess Daniel would be good fun. Thank you for sharing your experiments with us, I’m glad you didn’t blow anything up. I think the ones you mixed the hairspray into look a bit like shattered glass, from the front. Thank you x❤

Try pump hairspray and mix in alcohol ink. There are continuous spray bottles that mimic aerosol cans, so you can mix color and get the mist.

Been doing this with nails for the last two years, chameleon chrome powders , use a matt top coat. Cure , then a gloss top coat , spots that look like rain or moisture
