I was hurrying down my staircase and my young son had left a dinosaur hot wheels car on the stairs. My right foot came down on it with all my weight, and i shouted it hurt so bad. It really messed up my foot. It was sore for months!! We tend to take our feet for granted, until something happens. I really feel for these poor cows- it’s amazing that there’s people in this world who’s entire job is taking care of cow’s feet, and ensuring they’re comfortable.
    Good work HGP!!

When kidney waste builds up in the system crystals build up in the arthritic joints and grinds between the bones. The pain can be unbearable simply by touching the toes with a feather, much less walking.

I have left, right, and loop knives for horse hoof trimming. I have both a mostly straight and a more curved bladed style of each the left and right knives as well to help with sole shaping . Having the right tools for the job not only makes the work easier and better quality, but reduces the chances of injuring yourself or the critter in trying to make an ill suited tool do something it's not designed for or having to contort yourself to get the right cutting angle. All of this makes for faster work and a more comfortable critter (and human).

Big, long, wide, chisel shaped blade sharper than one can image with a shoulder stock like a crutch to push on so he can apply force to cut through the hard dense wall horn.
It is incredible the difference in the detail and techniques. The guy does these poor donkeys well and after 50 years you can tell he really does know what he is doing but wholly moley.

0:23 I busted my pinky toe in January and I'd been walking predominately on my big toe more to offset the pressure on my injured toe.
i'd been watching here for a few months prior to my accident, and it really helped with perceiving exactly what cattle with underworn or mismatched hoofs due to an injury can be experiencing.

I so enjoy watching your videos! Your compassionate attitude and work ethic is amazing! My husband just shakes his head when I tell him what I’m watching! He always tells me that I can go out. With him to the dairies and watch the hood trimmers live! My reply…. Watching y’all is great because I don’t have to smell the “fragrances” of the dairies! 😂
    Thank you for that!😀

I have been following you for years and I really love the combination of your excellent teaching method, your sense of humour and your technical production skills. They all come together to make a brilliant channel! I stumbled across your channel years ago and even though I don’t have a need for this knowledge (living as I do in suburban Brisbane, Australia) i really enjoy watching. Thank you so much for sharing your passion for your life’s work and your greater life philosophy with us all.

Sometimes I find myself holding my breath, when you are doing such a painful area for a cow. Kinda silly of me, but it happens w/o my permission, and I catch myself. I am so glad you are careful with those gal`s.

@@Orlanzepol123 You sound a bit empathic, and that is meant as a compliment. Do you, by chance absorb the emotions of those around you, maybe like a sponge? Have you ever felt someone else`s pain? Those characteristics point toward what I am suggesting. These things run in families, perhaps your Gram-ma had these sensitivities.

@@marjoriegoodwin2993 unfortunately I do . I say unfortunately because I wished the suffering of others wouldn’t affect me so deeply because there’s been times that I’ve felt depressed because of it.

I'm no hoof trimmer myself -- or indeed have anything to do with farming or cows -- but it's great to watch someone work who really enjoys his job and excels at it.

Love you guys and the work you do for those precious cows. It has become the "family business." LOL. Great job guys! Too bad you can't put blocks on all of the cows feet to protect them from the concert floors before they become a problem.
