    She seems so much more relaxed after the abscess drains, that's got to be such a relief

    • @pamsheppard7998
      @pamsheppard7998 Год назад +2

      But why does he push on it? Anyone who’s ever had an abscess knows that excruciating feeling when there’s pressure and only a small hole to release the purulent material. Once the opening is big enough, the pressure is gone.

      I think that's the case too. He's explained a few times in which is was pressing on the hoof that he wasn't doing it to cause her pain, but to feel what's underneath it. Which gives him more information on how big and where the problem is.

    • @fairlyvague82
      @fairlyvague82 Год назад +5

      I would imagine he needs to press to expel as much mucky fluid as possible. Also as an indicator as to how big the problem really is under the hood horn; more fluid and bubbles = bigger cavity?

    After my husband passed I needed to sell our hobby farm - the dairy farmer who has been renting the tillable acreage bought it and I've had occasion to ask him about certain hoof conditions his cows experience based on their environments. I quite enjoyed his expression of perplexed surprise that his neighbor (me), an academic in art history should know anything about hoof health. 😉One day I will tell him all about your channel, Graeme, but not just yet. 😆

      I was thinking the same. When I was pregnant with my daughter I step on the head of a screw, of course I couldn't see where I was stepping. It bruised really bad and I had to use a cane. Again I couldn't see the bottom of my foot and my husband said, oh its just bruised. I loved with it for almost a month when I went in for a checkup and dr prescribe some ointment. Husband rubbed it in and I went to the hospital. That thing popped when the nurses were putting on the socks to go into the OR. the one nurse asked where all the blood was coming from, I said, yes it finally popped. They took off the sock and had to put a bandage on it. I was so happy thinking when I get up to walk no more pain. Even having the c-section I was still happy to one get 10.13lb baby out but more so to get that huge bump to pop on my heel

    I know you speak about Veterinarians a lot when it comes to certain issues cows have but it seems to me that what you do is just as important as anything a veterinarian does. I am always in amazement watching your videos. If I were a cow I would request you to be my hoof trimmer lol. The trimming process which you always follow seems to me to be as important as anything that a veterinarian does when assessing a cow for issues. The fact that you are able to do the process and almost always be able to find the issue is really amazing. This video shows so well how that process leads you to the right conclusion. Again I find it just amazing how you are able to do your job and help the cows recover. Thanks for sharing just a small part of your daily work life with us. 10 stars⭐️ on a 5 star⭐️ rating scale. 👍

    I used to work at FEDEX at a sorting hub and they use a lot of conveyor belts there to move packages thru the hub for sorting.
    When the conveyor belts get worn, new ones are installed and the old belts are rolled up and put in a recycle area.
    I had a friend who had horses and she wanted to cut down on the mud building up in the stalls.
    I told her that I could get the used belting for nothing and then lay it down in stripes and then crisscross it using construction adhesive to keep it all in place and solid.
    It kept the barn and stalls very neat and clean and also kept the mud out of the horses feet from caking up under the hooves.

    I’m so glad that you helped her hood ❤
    Plus she didn’t look dirty like most other cows you work on. Of course I know you can’t control that aspect of the cows treatment! It just that cows truly love being clean, just like most other animals and they seem to least kept that way at most farms I have seen on RUclips and in person.

    You always do a great job! My friend is a dairy farmer and invited me over to watch their hoof trimmer do his thing - she thinks it’s hilarious that I can speak with some knowledge about hoof problems! All thanks to you 😏
