Since the first time I was asked "what do you wanna be when you grow up" I've always replied "farm vet" I love working with big creatures, I infact have 2 horse and 3 potty I'm raising up❤. I also have a question, do you feel bad for the cows, cause I do😅.

This was a particularly satisfying one. You were able to address the issue, clean it up without removing really large amounts of horn or exposing much of the corium, and she is feeling the difference immediately. It could easily have been so much worse. Thank goodness the alert people who care for this animal saw her distress and called you in. Another few weeks would have meant not only suffering but dangerous progression that would have been harder to cure.

As a KID who learned to milk cows at about seven or eight years old, I appreciate the strength and muscles Graeme has built up doing his work… I was so sore because I went to the farm on the weekends as my parents worked in the city… those muscles HURT.. Once I started staying the summers on the farm, the muscles worked well… I loved it. 🙏🏻 God Bless my grandparents….

  • @QPPlus

So glad to see that you caught this before it went down to the corium. That cow will feel much better.

    • @TerryProthero
      @TerryProthero 10 месяцев назад +9

It looks like it did go down to the corium but only in one small spot of the sole. But there wasn't any digital dermatitis. So, a little bit of iodine was enough to fix the problem. It causes the surface of the flesh to dry up and to toughen up. That helps to cause protruding corium to shrivel up.

I absolutely love that people actually care about these animals. Grew up on a family horse farm we boarded a few for people without land or a barn however they were responsible for the care of their animals and was so sad how uneducated some owner are. Starting with their shoes. A lot of people don’t understand the importance. Many times struggling with wanting to do the right thing but not being able do to contracts. My girl Bobby Joe would always feel like a million bucks with knew shoes. It’s funny because you can see things like that when knowing the animals. Great job

I am a farrier apprentice (going to finish it next month) in germany and I had the rare chance of shoeing an Ox in an open air museum. They are using the Oxes for Cart pulling.
I forged the shoes in the historic smithy by hand and than nailed it to the hoof I had to think about you the whole time :D
I was impressed about how much harder the Cows hooves are compared to a Horse.

I love your videos for how you and your work buddies are genuinely concerned about the cows and their comfort - for the benefit that gives to the farmers, yes, but mostly for the animals themselves. I hope you will forgive the comparison, but you are very much like a teacher. You have to deal with difficult, painful, stressful situations during each day that you make look and sound easy, but in fact they are not. It is not easy when you care so much about both the process and the outcome. Thank you for taking the care you do for these beautiful animals!!

Technically, Robby was right. 😉 You said stop laughing, he said it's hard to...it's hard to stop laughing at you. I've never laughed at you, though, Graham! (I can't remember how to spell your name!) Much love to everyone at The Hoof GP! ❤

Saw a miniature of you pressing and healing some kind of abscess ... Impressed by how fragile the cows' hoofs can be. Excuse my ignorance about the subject, but your work is particularly important to any animal that has hoofs. See how you enjoy making them feel better. Respect ...

I bet cows across Scotland love this chap and his team. Their skill and obvious care for the animals they treat must also be a godsend to his farmer clients.

I wish your videos could last longer. I love watching you! Your voice and accent is awesome. Your videos are beyond relaxing. Dude, I don't even own, never touch, and really dont want a farm ever. Haha. But you have made the love of trimming so interesting, that I really enjoying watching you work. It makes me miss home and the smell of livestock trades in Nevada, US. Which I never thought in my life I would ever miss that smell haha. Thank you for your dedication, transparency, and love of what you do. Keep it up!

Graham Parker for president!!!. I have no connection to farming or cows or hoofs in any way except your videos. I always want to watch them. I just want to say how inspired I am by these videos tho, you are such a good man and you seem to have an amazing life and genuine appreciation for it. I wish you many long blessed years . We need more people like you . Not just on RUclips but the planet. Stay awesome. God bless you.

I love watching your videos and listening to what’s installed in this episode. I love how you introduce your helpers, Robbie Roo, and Craigee Boy. Oh and how you introduce your wife n kids. Mrs Hoof GP, laughing out loud. You have a wicked sense of humour.
There’s only one problem I have with watching the videos and that’s when you’re doing a back hoof and then suddenly you’ve got “Code Brown or Golden Shower”. I know your use to it and all, but I can’t help but get grossed out. How do you not? My god, the smell definitely would kill me. Especially being so close.

Everywhere on a cow farm smells like cow dung. It doesn't matter if your getting showered in it or you just drive by in your car, the smell is everywhere. But it really isn't that bad. You get used to it rather quickly. And if you're not familiar, it's absolutely nothing like the human equivalent. It's not nearly as smelly, not nearly as dirty, and not nearly as much of a bio-hazard.
