I had a close call with death a year ago. Ever since them, I am extremely healthy. What I do In my free time is learn about nutrition, excersise etc. Ld, this is spot on, when you have seconds, minutes to live, you realize, keeping your body healthy is the number one priority. Literally, changed my life. Nobody thinks it is gonna happen to them, until it does. Now, everyday I do loads of things to keep me healthy.

Two months sober today after drinking for roughly 25 years. Feeling great but went to see a Dr. because of your advice and my liver functions are elevated. Now I have to see a GI specialist, praying it is nothing too serious. Just want to say thank you for keeping me motivated to stay sober. I'm still listening, but I wanted to just say that I've been in a similar mindset, especially today. I don't like to make a habit without a break of watching sad videos too often, but for some reason, I've had several videos in my algorithm pop up with very young adults dying from so many different aliments and it just broke my heart. Most of all, though, it really centers me, and I'm reminded of how blessed I am to still be alive. I deal with depression so it's a battle, but I appreciate people like you reminding us that we aren't alone in this battle. ❤🥰

Actually, I could have listened to your talk yesterday for another hour. I worried about you for that whole time, so my heart did cartwheels again seeing your video. You sound more congested today than yesterday. Antihistamines make your mouth dry. Forgiveness is so important. I never hit it off with my dad either. We finally made amends about a year before he passed in 2017..November 15 and soon a year (27th) since Ron passed. We have some regrets with Ron, as I'm sure he did too. Not good to die with regrets.

15 years ago i spent 5 weeks in the hospital after they took out 12 inches if rotten colon out and sepsis. You aint kidding abou good health being so important. Laying there with pain that morphine wont touch. And nausea. Wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy

@KaraLey98 I think she meant that along the lines of money can't bring someone back to life. There are always ways to try and get more money, but not someone's life.
I’ve had a period of serious health anxiety after convincing myself I have cirrhosis (hence binging your videos !) And man you are SO right! Every other worry I had faded into total insignificance. I stopped worrying about minor stresses at work that used to be a big deal to me. Everything was put into perspective. And I realised I would have paid my whole savings account to be guaranteed that I didn’t have cirrhosis. I still haven’t gone to a doctor about it. I’m too scared I’ll be told. I’ve stopped drinking anyway and eating any crap and sugar. Watching your vids is also so therapeutic! Thank you dude
An ultrasound and blood tests is easy. I had fatty liver from drinking, you would have to maintain drinking a fair bit for at least a few years to have cirrhosis. Be brave, go get checked anyway
@ thanks buddy. I will get it checked. I’ve been sober for 10 days and I’m feeling better and less anxious about my health each day that passes. But I’m still feeling some discomfort in the liver area. One more question, when you talk about pushing down on the right side of the stomach do you mean the whole right side or just the bit under the rib that felt like rock? Health is wealth! Without your health you have nothing! We take it for granted every single day; I know I certainly did. I've learned not to sweat the small stuff and focus more on what's really important in life. Like you said, our relationships with friends and family are so very important. I know I've said it before, but you are truly blessed to have the support of your wife and kids as you battle all of your health issues! My brother allows property taxes and politics get to him, his blood pressure is through the roof. I just keep my head down and pay my taxes, blood pressure of a new born baby.

I’m 3 weeks sober, but some of my triggers are holidays, like Halloween, I thought about stopping on my way home from work yesterday to get some alcohol and celebrate the trick or treaters. But I didn’t. Saturdays are tough as well. I love SEC College Football, and have always drank while watching games. I have to distract myself, but the urge is strong. You definitely help by reminding me that it just leads to drinking every day for who knows how long, and how hard! Plus, I’m detoxed, and I don’t want to re-tox! It is a vicious cycle!

Not being the dad that I could have been and because I needed a drink or a fix more than my children needed me I guess you could say . Now grandkids that I won't see grow up and ect . God bless all . If you did not pick up a drink or use today thank yourself and God . And if you did it's ok just keep fighting before you can do it . I can relate about getting upset over a mediocore pizza yesterday! I got angry and worked up like it was the end of the world lol. I definitely have anger issues that I hope to address in therapy. "When we don't have our health, we have nothing, nothing else matters." So very true! You are looking much better, and hope you continue on your recovery journey.
Good to see you feeling better you've been through a lot. Have been watching every morning for around a year always the best way to start my morning. I am worried about adhd myself as a long term drinker now 40 years old. I cut back but have been binge drinking 4-5 days a week getting nausea fatigue and general malaise most days now so i should book a check up again. As you say have to keep making the most of each day.
I loved this video and it is 100 percent true. I know how you feel about lying in a hospital bed with nothing but time and thoughts about what really matters. I had the same kind of relationship with my Dad as you. I didn't even tell him when I was in the hospital due to my drinking because I did not want to be told "I told you so" I called him a few months after and told him I have cirrhosis and our relationship has greatly improved and I am so glad that I made that call as hard as it was. Happy Halloween, L.D. Today has been busy as hell. Writing, filming, using a Dremel on this pumpkin to raise Elvis. My relationship with my dad was "Cat's in the Cradle" in reverse. Since I got sober I am trying to do more stuff with him. I regret a lot of that wasted time. That's why he's been in a few of my videos.

Glad ur doing great. One thing I've learnt is no matter what. when i opened up about my situation and listening to ur videos I felt lighter. I felt ashamed but I was hurting. Lik u say, "Forget the lil things". I feel when someone listens to us without judging. Makes a hell of a difference. Its a blessing to be alive and to be here for our kids and those that love us. At times, yeah i wonder how much time do i have. 2 years just cause the Drs said. Just have to deal with the portal vain and inflammation. Tbh at times I dont want to attend Drs appointments. Tbh, we have been given a second chance to focus on what matters the most. I want to go work and be normal as I can. Eating healthy but just trying to gain muscle is a struggle at times. My son say's "mom you look better now than u did 2 years ago and continue ur hyperbaric oxygen". Things are costly. My platelets go up and down. Silly headaches. One thing I do is rest and have my coffee and my watch my favorite British tv shows. Take care ☕️
Memorial day weekend 2 years ago was my last drink This was after i was told i had mild cirrhosis and early alzheimer's. That was my wake up call. Never touch alcohol again
So happy, that you are back in business with us. You are my personal saint. I am, like two months in and the day, it clicked, is L.D. day for me I wouldn't have done it, without you Crazy I see many people die, in my line of work. In the end they often hold on to pictures, of loved ones, long gone. When they go finally, even these pictures stay behind and often land in the bin. On the last journey, you can't take possessions with you, memories stay with you, until the very end, therefore priceless. I like to think, that memories don't even go away after someone died. Family carries those over and along in their own lives. So, what, I say is. Build up, as many memories, you can possibly squeeze out of life, this is, where ones focus should be. Because all the gold and money is gone, when on brink of death.

I like to think of cravings as birds in the sky. You cannot stop a bird from flaying overhead. However, you can stop a bird from building a big nest in your hair. These momentary urges will pass.
Nothing compares to feeling well. Nothing. Everybody will get sick and die. Don't know when or how, but it is what it is. As I get older I've thought more and more about my own mortality, probably like a lot of people do. When I was in my teens and 20s and even into my 30s I didn't even think about it much. Every day you get older you ponder these things. It's crazy. This life is insanity. Got to just somehow keep waking up in the morning and hope you can maintain for enough time to experience some enjoyment in life. Everything u said is 1000% the truth.

You have your health, and you are so fortunate to be as healthy as you are. Considering what you have been through.. keeping you & your family in my thoughts and prayers!!! Love the point about if you have your health you have everything. I had a client tell me that when I was still very young. Then I learned that she was going through cancer treatment?? I completely understand what you're saying, and for the most part I feel the same way (about our health being the most important, besides loved ones). BUT, there is another way to look at it, right? If you look at it with god, then when your time is up, it's up. Death is an unfortunate part of life that all of us will encounter at some point. Some FAR younger than others, but it happens to us all. With god, though, you can find so much more peace. There is another life beyond this. There is just too much evidence that points to the fact. Learn that, study that. Teach that to your family, and you will be much more peaceful.

It’s hard to fathom being so sick and waiting until your condition gets so dire until you seek medical attention. Why do you allow yourself to experience such physical hell? I understand that being in the hospital is miserable compared to being home. But why do you steadfastly suffer in front of your wife and children?
You’re misunderstanding!! When you’ve been through so much it sometimes takes a few days to work out how serious a situation is. If you often feel just a bit under the weather, it can take a day or two to work out that something is developing.

Not being the dad that I could have been and because I needed a drink or a fix more than my children needed me I guess you could say . Now grandkids that I won't see grow up and ect . God bless all . If you did not pick up a drink or use today thank yourself and God . And if you did it's ok just keep fighting before you can do it . Believe me I watched family and friends die and I just said nope that won't happen to me . ♥️🙏

I can relate about getting upset over a mediocore pizza yesterday! I got angry and worked up like it was the end of the world lol. I definitely have anger issues that I hope to address in therapy. "When we don't have our health, we have nothing, nothing else matters." So very true! You are looking much better, and hope you continue on your recovery journey.
Good to see you feeling better you've been through a lot. Have been watching every morning for around a year always the best way to start my morning. I am worried about adhd myself as a long term drinker now 40 years old. I cut back but have been binge drinking 4-5 days a week getting nausea fatigue and general malaise most days now so i should book a check up again. As you say have to keep making the most of each day.
I loved this video and it is 100 percent true. I know how you feel about lying in a hospital bed with nothing but time and thoughts about what really matters. I had the same kind of relationship with my Dad as you. I didn't even tell him when I was in the hospital due to my drinking because I did not want to be told "I told you so" I called him a few months after and told him I have cirrhosis and our relationship has greatly improved and I am so glad that I made that call as hard as it was. Thanks for all you do LD! Love you!

Happy Halloween, L.D. Today has been busy as hell. Writing, filming, using a Dremel on this pumpkin to raise Elvis. My relationship with my dad was "Cat's in the Cradle" in reverse. Since I got sober I am trying to do more stuff with him. I regret a lot of that wasted time. That's why he's been in a few of my videos.

Glad ur doing great. One thing I've learnt is no matter what. when i opened up about my situation and listening to ur videos I felt lighter. I felt ashamed but I was hurting. Lik u say, "Forget the lil things".
I feel when someone listens to us without judging. Makes a hell of a difference.
Its a blessing to be alive and to be here for our kids and those that love us. At times, yeah i wonder how much time do i have. 2 years just cause the Drs said.
Just have to deal with the portal vain and inflammation. Tbh at times I dont want to attend Drs appointments.
Tbh, we have been given a second chance to focus on what matters the most. I want to go work and be normal as I can. Eating healthy but just trying to gain muscle is a struggle at times.
My son say's "mom you look better now than u did 2 years ago and continue ur hyperbaric oxygen". Things are costly.
My platelets go up and down. Silly headaches.
One thing I do is rest and have my coffee and my watch my favorite British tv shows.

I see many people die, in my line of work. In the end they often hold on to pictures, of loved ones, long gone. When they go finally, even these pictures stay behind and often land in the bin.
On the last journey, you can't take possessions with you, memories stay with you, until the very end, therefore priceless.
I like to think, that memories don't even go away after someone died.
Family carries those over and along in their own lives.
So, what, I say is. Build up, as many memories, you can possibly squeeze out of life, this is, where ones focus should be.
Because all the gold and money is gone, when on brink of death.

Nothing compares to feeling well. Nothing. Everybody will get sick and die. Don't know when or how, but it is what it is. As I get older I've thought more and more about my own mortality, probably like a lot of people do. When I was in my teens and 20s and even into my 30s I didn't even think about it much. Every day you get older you ponder these things. It's crazy. This life is insanity. Got to just somehow keep waking up in the morning and hope you can maintain for enough time to experience some enjoyment in life. Everything u said is 1000% the truth.

You have your health, and you are so fortunate to be as healthy as you are. Considering what you have been through.. keeping you & your family in my thoughts and prayers!!! Love the point about if you have your health you have everything. I had a client tell me that when I was still very young. Then I learned that she was going through cancer treatment?? She was so positive, and she was so sick? But she was always in a good mood. And smiling. 😊😊❤❤

I completely understand what you're saying, and for the most part I feel the same way (about our health being the most important, besides loved ones).
BUT, there is another way to look at it, right? If you look at it with god, then when your time is up, it's up. Death is an unfortunate part of life that all of us will encounter at some point. Some FAR younger than others, but it happens to us all.
With god, though, you can find so much more peace. There is another life beyond this. There is just too much evidence that points to the fact. Learn that, study that. Teach that to your family, and you will be much more peaceful.

It’s hard to fathom being so sick and waiting until your condition gets so dire until you seek medical attention. Why do you allow yourself to experience such physical hell? I understand that being in the hospital is miserable compared to being home. But why do you steadfastly suffer in front of your wife and children?
You’re misunderstanding!! When you’ve been through so much it sometimes takes a few days to work out how serious a situation is. If you often feel just a bit under the weather, it can take a day or two to work out that something is developing.
