Also, for the first lapel grab, the move you were looking for, is… the “Arrow Punch”. Grabbing your own lapel was cool but 1) you went inwards and 2) you didn’t use your arm to push away. So you go outward, your free hand is the one that pulls your own lapel and then your same side hand “arrow punches” out to separate the grip :) Great video :) :) :) Her height advantage is aaalot
Awesome video! This is exactly happens when you get grabbed by a judoka! Regular people don’t understand that once they have grips on you, you don’t have balance, and you get tossed !!
As a judoka, i can say it's pretty easy.. Because judo has zero striking ability or striking defense 😅 And most clothes aren't as good for gripping as a gi, they'll just rip apart. Some of the throws and sweeps work, but it's not easy while getting punched and kicked. On the ground though, joint locks and strangulations are good, & judo is great for building strength (similar to wrestling), so down there the judoka has a chance imo. Would be an interesting series for sure!
Great job Kevin! I love the respect and enthusiasm you put into your videos. Aurelia was great. Having taught judo for nearly 35 years, I'm really enjoying the positive energy coming from your community (YT creators and general MA and MMA enthusiasts) toward judo. Thank you Kevin!!!! Thanks for being humble and featuring such great guests. I love how you listen and approach things so positively. The way you showcased this art means a lot to me. I am a huge fan of your content and approach! Keep up the good work.
Judoka grip strength is nuts. For example, some do a training exercise where they attach a piece of gi to a cable machine, load it with 80kg+ and hold it for 30 seconds. It doesn't sound like much, but it is crazy taxing on the grip. Judoka also need to be able to bench and row their own bodyweight and deadlift double bodyweight as a strength standard for competition. Aurelia is likely very, very strong. Of course she understands angles of balance, leverage, and body mechanics. Put it together and high level judoka and wrestlers (similar skill set) are scary as heck.
It's all in the gripping technique, it's not hard squeeze all the time. Once you learn the grip technique it's fairly comfortable to hold if nobody is doing a grip break and snapping pulls. The 1,5x bodyweight in bench, 2x in squat and 2,5x in deadlift applies to pretty much any professional athlete.
Lmao, the top Muay Thai dudes and boxers ain't lifting 2x bodyweight deads/squats and benching THAT much. Nongo O and Taiwanchai was benching around 100 lbs. if you can even find videos of them lifting. Joe Frazier, an all time great heavyweight boxer could barely push press 165 lbs. Actual muscular strength is more important in grappling arts. Definitely not a must for strikers.
She was rag dolling you bro! Better you than me! She exemplifies something I try to teach my students. When It's time to go, don't move like a question, move like a STATEMENT . Because that's as much a part of the technique as the technique . She has zero doubt of the outcome once she starts . I can watch Judo, Sambo and Shuai Jiao videos all day just for that reason.
Even for the lower belts of Judo, fighting a Judo black belt is like buying a flight ticket. You fly here, you fly there and multiple flights against your will. Great job being willing to stand with a black belt especially against a former competitor.
Never try to resist to the opponent. When someone pushes you you have to step back; when someone is pulling you out you have to push forward. Never resist but absorb the mecanics forces and always go with your opponant so that you motion will always be the reflection of your opponant's motion. Another point, when the person turns clock wise go in the same direction, and if the person turns unclockwise...follow her, follow until you get ahead of that person. This is the principle of absorbing that you will find in fencing, boxing ang wrestling (grappling too which is nothing else but wrestling on the ground).
It would be so helpful if you and her did a beginners guide to grips and breaking grips...like multiple angles and explanation! You two worked so great together!!! Thank you!
Nice I love it. When I told my dad I wanted to study karate he told me to first study Judo because he said it is the foundation for all martial arts. So I started with judo. I went on to study boxing, wing Chung, kickboxing, military hand to hand combat, karate, and Japanese swordsmanship. My dad was correct Judo is the foundation for all fighting arts. Even in Japanese swordsmanship you have to learn to fall and roll with a sword. On a different topic the American flag is hung backwards in that gym. The union should always be to the left as you look at the flag. It’s a pretty common mistake.
Fantastic. Aurelia Agel is back! Could you guys do more judo fighting every so often? It’s fun to watch By the way - what’s your weight and her weight? I’m surprised she can throw you quite that easily; I can’t tell if she’s exceptionally strong, you’re very light or it’s technique. It looks like you’re complying and helping her throw you; but if she has a big advantage (skill, experience, strength) then I guess it would still look like that even if you resisted and went 100% strength against her. Fun and rare to see a real male vs female judo match. Hope you can film more with her (or she films more on her channel). Would also be fun to see a match or few matches again where you start across from each other bow and then fight like in a real match. Perhaps it would look more real to me? It looks too much like you’re co-operating but I suspect she’s also strong and you’re light so she can manhandle you

Kevin made the same mistake I did as a BJJ guy training Judo, Judoka leave their back open and in BJJ you automatically try to take the back but if the Judoka has a good grip they'll throw you. Before you go for the back you need to weaken their grip or base out
Some years ago when British scientists wanted to examine the grip and arm strength of prehistoric women in Europe 5000-10,000. years ago, they worked with excavated arm and hand bones, using well-known and proven standards and practices of physiological archaeology. The living "comparison group" consisted of female judo black belts and female varsity rowers at Oxford University. For more than any other sportswomen, they had the strongest hand-grips, and pulling/pushing power in their arms. The conclusion was that as unusually strong as the modern female athletes were in those regards, the "cave women" were even stronger from lifetimes of doing absolutely nothing except with muscle power, and hard work morning, noon, and night. Including after the dawn and spread of agriculture when grinding wheat into flour by hand (tightly gripping a cylinder-like stone and grinding the grain on a flat stone, going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, every single day) became a task that was only ever done by the women and girls.
Used to seeing such demonstrations where the hand position is inside the guard. In this case it’s a bad move cause she can grab his back to control him. Course very different from striking. Interesting. Thanks for sharing
Her favorite, I remember Ogushi. It's not an easy technique to pull off. It's one you have to earn to use with confidence. Many moving parts and in synch
You can see how well rooted to the ground she is such a strong looking stance. Some great techniques and ideas. The grip breaks with elbows look good and set you up nicely for your next strike. 🙌
just mike Tyson's philosophical quote. punch to throat, liver, solar plexus, kick to groin, kick to knee cap (front, back, or top), strike to back of head/neck, such things should sort someone out who just uses grappling. thats why Thai boxing is closer to a real skirmish in the local pub or street.
There's something so funny and actually kinda wholesome about how amused I am watching Aurelia shake you like the bully in Napoleon Dynamite 😂 ps, Aurelia, your stunt work is incredible and inspiring!
i did Judo as a child. one girl was 2 years older. She was like a thunderstorm. but: unfairly, she always did not wear a judo suit. So she immediately had a better grip on me, wearing one. Good sport. Stays in your muscle memory for balance and controlled falling. helped later in motorcycle accidents.
I think some styles have grip breaking techniques, for wing chun i did not look it up, but i know there are some in Bajiquan Yu Bajiqigong - Zhang Zhongyao - Zhang Jianjun, the one for the collar grab too.
Reminds me of a friend and fellow judoka and sensei from the 1970s - Pat Cottis, who I believe was captain of the London's women's judo team at the time.
Kenji Tomiki, a student of both Kano and Ueshiba, created the 8 releases for his Aikido called Hanasu no Kata. You don't have to do these release, which are similar, as violent as she's doing them. This won't work if you encounter a bigger stronger person. It's best to do the opposite and be as loose as you can. I can't really explain it like my sensei does, but I've had many people say that they hate the way I move because it's too hard to throw me. I attribute that to my Aikido tai sabaki.
@@KevinLeeVlog Well, finding the right one will be tough. Anything Aikikai is horse shit. They are just Ueshiba worshippers and nothing more than a cult.
It is called kumikata in judo and yes you have to break the grip (most of the time!) with force, explosion and technique. There is no light way especially with bigger opponents. Judokas train their grip since a very young age on a almost daily basis, so it isnt easy to break the grip of them. It is grip breaking not Kansetsu-waza. I did also learned other grip breaking techniques then she showed but hers seemed to be working. I think judo and aikido have theoretically many similarities but they differ in practice.
@@ztrewqqwertz8997 Sorry, but I disagree based on my experience. Aikido and Mainstream Judo only differ in practice due to their understanding. My Judo does not follow mainstream Judo and it works just fine.
@@ronin2167 I think there isn't much to disagree on. She obviously was talking about sport judo, since she learned it that way. So there is just grip breaking within certain ruleset. Yes I also think she does some of these breaks with too much force. And there are maybe easier ways. But say it doesn't work on bigger persons is not true. Depends also on what is a bigger person. Double her weight? Yeah than not much will work. But 10 kilograms more? She definitely can pull this off.
Unfortunately, most of this goes out the window if someone has on a tee shirt. Great for competition though! Most Judokas practice "No Gi" techniques as well, which im sure she does. Great video!
Kevin, you need to explore Olympic style wrestling (standard high school). She gave you a huge hint when telling you to that lower is harder for tall people. High school wrestling teaches you a lot about center of gravity and leverage basics.
Olympic style? There are two- Freestyle Wrestling and Greco Roman Wrestling. In America they don't really teach either. They have Collegiate Folkstyle Wrestling, which is quite different. We learn about leverage and shit in Judo too. And especially COG. We're just not allowed to grab legs.
Amazing stuntwoman! Enjoyed her work in John Wick 4 and just recognized her in My Spy The Eternal City fighting Dave Bautista. I learned a lot watching this. New ways of getting out of those grabs. Thanks!
@@jacobharris954 Yeah if you decide to watch JW4 again, she's one of the gray-suited henchmen/women in Japan. Her hair is worn tightly pulled back. If I remember correctly, she's taken out by the Asian female lead.
In judo, every body type is very highlighted. I've done randori with tall guys that get that highcollar grip so easily and short guys that under my center of gravity easily.
I was most impressed when my 65 yo coach to be tossed me around like a rag doll before I even figured out what was going on. I was 190lbs, benching 180 and I did few years of Judo and other arts before joining. He was 5" shorter and 40-50lbs lighter. Took me three years that I could keep up with him in sparring so that neither of us ends on ground. He practiced so called soft Judo. Use of minimum force. This thing works in competitive Judo while you are young and strong.

The conclusion was that as unusually strong as the modern female athletes were in those regards, the "cave women" were even stronger from lifetimes of doing absolutely nothing except with muscle power, and hard work morning, noon, and night. Including after the dawn and spread of agriculture when grinding wheat into flour by hand (tightly gripping a cylinder-like stone and grinding the grain on a flat stone, going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, every single day) became a task that was only ever done by the women and girls.
dont think we forgot about the last judo girl who hurled you around xD you are a true sport man for doing it again.
I am a kickboxer, but judo is so interesting. Maybe i will change disciplines for a while. Nice video and that girl is so amazing.
one of the most interesting videos i watched on judo ever!! loved it
Very informative video Mr. Kevin hope to see more of it.
Fascinating stuff! With only 30secs, you did great in popping back up again each time.
There's something so funny and actually kinda wholesome about how amused I am watching Aurelia shake you like the bully in Napoleon Dynamite 😂 ps, Aurelia, your stunt work is incredible and inspiring!
That front flip was sick ngl 4:51
i did Judo as a child.
one girl was 2 years older.
She was like a thunderstorm.
but: unfairly, she always did not wear a judo suit.
So she immediately had a better grip on me, wearing one.
Good sport. Stays in your muscle memory for balance and controlled falling.
helped later in motorcycle accidents.
Haha.. perfect break fall at 5:03.. good job
You're the man Kevin.
She could walk through anything she wants. Bless you for this clip. It's beautiful
Correction: she can walk through anything she wants... with people half her size and weight.
@@aldomonti813 You bring up a good point. But, still I believe she can punch above her weight persay. She looks super strong to me.
@@aldomonti813Not all Men half her size are like Kevin
@@aldomonti813 she will beat 99% of normal 6'6" guys any time of the day.
@@deletevilNo she can't.
I dont understand, how can you get a black belt in bjj, but not know standing grips? We do standing a lot in my bjj school...
He is nice with guests and praise them or he have a black belt from a time based school
I love how people that are good at what they do are also so nice. Even when she threw she automatically offered to help him back up.
She is awesome! Make sure give her a follow!
I think some styles have grip breaking techniques, for wing chun i did not look it up, but i know there are some in Bajiquan Yu Bajiqigong - Zhang Zhongyao - Zhang Jianjun, the one for the collar grab too.
Wow shes amazing. Great video Kevin. You rock!
Reminds me of a friend and fellow judoka and sensei from the 1970s - Pat Cottis, who I believe was captain of the London's women's judo team at the time.
4:49 on is a freaking riot. She ragdolls his ass 🤣🤣🤣
@@ronin2167 I need to try Aikido next!
@KevinLee Not sure if you should be wearing a black belt yet.. But kudos for surviving 30 seconds and 4 throws..
She's incredible. I wish I had a daughter like this lady.
Very nice video and respect to you both
Her judo gi is amazing !! Where did she buy it ?! Judo has been stepping up their game !!
Unfortunately, most of this goes out the window if someone has on a tee shirt. Great for competition though! Most Judokas practice "No Gi" techniques as well, which im sure she does. Great video!
I remember watching the first one! Great content!
Such good fun. I was laughing out loud as Kevin went flying in every direction.
🤣🤣🤣
Quality Judo emphasises balance. Aurelian makes it look a walk in the park. For her...
Lot's of fun. Great energy. Thanks.
Love the grip fighting and clean throws.
She liked one of your parries. She said "Nice"
Very impressive Kevin
Wow, she has amazing technique and power.
She's really excellent. Fantastic kuzushi.
Kevin, you need to explore Olympic style wrestling (standard high school). She gave you a huge hint when telling you to that lower is harder for tall people. High school wrestling teaches you a lot about center of gravity and leverage basics.
Size Matter in Wrestling more than in Jiu Jitsu do you think Chimaev can Wrestle with Brock Lesnar ? But Demian Maia can sub Werdum in pure BJJ.
Thanks!
Did not know she was in jw4
@@jacobharris954 Yeah if you decide to watch JW4 again, she's one of the gray-suited henchmen/women in Japan. Her hair is worn tightly pulled back. If I remember correctly, she's taken out by the Asian female lead.
@@Jasonyerface Man I have to watch jw4 again. This sucks foreced to watch a awesome movie
@@jacobharris954 It's a tough job but we warriors gotta do what we gotta do. LOL
In judo, every body type is very highlighted. I've done randori with tall guys that get that highcollar grip so easily and short guys that under my center of gravity easily.
Thanks for getting rag dolled for us 😅
Hi Kevin
I have a brown belt in judo, and she would have tossed me way more than she threw you
Great job
Thanks much.
When she said what happened to your hair his face had me dead 😂😂😂😂😂
She's like Eunganu.... Her face and accent... you survived... well done!
The number of times she said "Because I'm taller than you" made me laugh
I was most impressed when my 65 yo coach to be tossed me around like a rag doll before I even figured out what was going on. I was 190lbs, benching 180 and I did few years of Judo and other arts before joining. He was 5" shorter and 40-50lbs lighter. Took me three years that I could keep up with him in sparring so that neither of us ends on ground. He practiced so called soft Judo. Use of minimum force. This thing works in competitive Judo while you are young and strong.
I like this friendly exchange of techniques. Good and fun to watch 🎉
Very impressive judo demonstration, but how would this play in street attack ag punches?
