- We head to Orlando to take a drive in the new Dodge Challenger R/T, with some great performance and fuel stats on paper, can it live up to these figures?
We find out right here, I enjoyed every second of driving the Challenger and really didn't want to give it back! even though in just a week it cost me $120 in fuel! as well as the full tank that was already in it.
At $40k is this the muscle car to go for?

What an amazing experience to be able to drive the new Dodge Challenger, it was supposed to be the Dodge Charger but hopefully next time in the Hellcat variant.
What car would you like to see covered?
Jaguar F-Type!
...and test it out on the great roads of the Smoky Mountains where I live. 😎😁
I have a 2018 Challenger R/T. This is my first Dodge and I don’t understand why there are anti-dodge people out there because the car has been fantastic. It’s not the fastest car in the world but it’ll beat probably 95% of other automobiles in 0 to 60 time. However, car enthusiast look down on the R/T because it only has 375 hp, which is low by today’s standards of a muscle car. The only other car I would consider right now would be a scat pack! You should review one of those! Don’t do Hellcat, do naturally aspirated challengers, because a regular worker can potentially afford it.
Yeah man the trim is great! I've got an RT as well. Love the way it feels, sounds, looks & everything. Power is just enough to break traction when you want. That active exhaust is perfect, not too loud, but loud enough. Scattys got a throatier exhaust note, but I actually like that deeper growl of the 5.7 better. Purrs like a kitten, roars like a lion. Really throws you back to the 70's. Everybody turns heads. 375hp is enough for me right now lol. Don't feel like I need much more performance then what the RT offers right now. I'd get into trouble in the scatty for sure. 😂
Get what u like and u can afford forget what people think they not paying for it
I also got my RT 2022 ,,,,don’t drive it in winter ..,actually taking it out March 15th …375hp is enough and good street car …sounds amazing just stock exhaust and yes people turn cause they hear you coming before they see you …would not advise to get scat pack at 475 hp or higher as too much speed and yeah I’m not racing …just a great daily driver and your car does stand out compare too most cars
@@frostedpearl1386 The 440-4br. Magnum was rated at 375 hp in the late 1960s and 1970. That was a lot of power even then.
@@robertosan66677 💯 It's a great daily! Does everything I bought it for! Lol 2022 also 6 speed manual is too much fun lol 😎
Absolutely love my 2nd hellraisn challenger. I have the T/A version and as usual get many compliments on the car. I’m 76 and owned many cars, this without a doubt is my favorite
I put a deposit down on one the other day. It’s on it’s way to the dealership so hopefully I will get it soon. I wanted a manual which was hard to find. Can’t wait to drive it.
Nice ride man! That's all I'd need to be honest.
Nice video , nice review … I just purchased this exact vehicle except in black .. have had it one week … love the vehicle !! No regrets
Nice, I’m jealous mate, I’d have one in a heartbeat
Picking mine up tomorrow. Kind of regretting not getting the Scat Pack already but I’m used to driving trucks so this is a first car for me. Nice to see so many good reviews cause I bought it kind of spur of the moment.
I have a 2020 R/T Blacktop. I love this car!
Is the difference in the blacktop wheels and stuff
@@PaulRankinYT Yes it is a trim package
I’d have 1 in a heartbeat if we could get them in the Uk. What colour is yours?
@@PaulRankinYT Smoke Show
Definitely an awesome car mine is a 2023 challenger rt blacktop last call.
i've got the same car down to the paint but the 2022 RT. that granite pearlcoat is a clean paint color!
How much did you pay monthly? Am trying to get one
Bought a GT instead, lots of snow where I live. Only thing I miss is the rumble from the v8
What engine is in the GT? Bet it’s fun to drive in the snow
3.6L pentastar.
@@frostedpearl1386 I also have a Kia Sorento SUV, the Challenger handles the snow better than the Kia because it's the same weight but wider and a little lower. So fun to drive in 6 inches of fresh snow! Plus, most people don't know it's AWD and they think your crazy 🤣
I've got a Challenger booked for my holiday in August. Would love it if they had an ST available. I am a bit intimidated by the size of them but guess that's just a case of getting used to it.
Absolutely don’t let it intimidate you, such a nice car to drive, just take a day or so to get used to it
Have fun and enjoy it 👍🏽
The shaker package is the best of the RT
That’s what I wound up going with. You think it’s good for a first car? I’m used to driving trucks.
Why’s that? Curious as I myself am looking into getting one in the future :)
I've got 2, a Last Call 2023 Pitch Black on Black RT Scat Pack 392 with a couple miles on it and an awesome 2019 Wide body RT Scat Pack with just over 10K miles Pitch Black on orange trim interior. Love my 2019 because I drive it at least 2 times a week to work. What a ride and a performance car for sure. I have 4 classic cars... 1969 Chevelle 396 SS. So I love new and old school.
Wow Frank, think you’ve just became my new favourite person ever! Sounds like a mega collection, what colour is your SS?
Winter where there is snow lol
I own a 2021 RT that I had built.
You done any mods?
I'm torn between one of those and a GTI
More car content required 😉
Have now moved the car reviews to their own channel 😉
@@PaulRankinYT ahh sick, @ ?
@@mrmotors_uk youtube.com/@autocarsposure
this is probably going to be one of the last v8 mussel cars by dodge unfortunately
I’d like to think we may get one more before electric but you just never know unfortunately
$6 for 91 gas in California
5 OR 6 MPG never lol, it averages 18mpg in sport mode
Tbh I reckon the computer was reading wrong, think this one had a few gremlins
If it was low mileage that happens from the factory because of the testing they do before hand@@PaulRankinYT
@@richardreynolds9985 I’d reset everything and drove it for a week before making this video so figured it would of righted itself in that time
What's that click at 7:40?
I believe it’s coming from the exhaust as it gets ready to fire up
The R/T 5.7 L is an Al round better car.
Too bad the hemis are being targeted by thieves, chargers and challengers and even durangos and the jeep with the hellcat engine
The mpg would stop me
It is heavy and did cost a bit on fuel in the week I had it
"boot" release?? You're in the US, reviewing a US car, it's called a "trunk". And at the other end, it's a "hood".
I tried that at the beginning of the video when opening the trunk didn’t work for me unfortunately, hard getting that crossover to continue
@@PaulRankinYT Understood. At least you test drove on the proper, right side of the road! 😏
@@stevesmith6236 I actually prefer driving over there tbh compared the UK, been driving over there since 2013
Back in the states bro 😄 what a machine 👍👍
