PS: so despite the short distance it actually takes us almost 12 hours to get from Bali to Lombok on the slow ferry, with our car n surfboards & a lot of waiting around 😂. We started out at 3.20am from our home at night and reached our hotel around 1pm. Not easy! For more background context, this video was also much inspired by the comments viewers left on our channel. Generally our videos evoke 2 main reactions: either the viewer resonates with our lifestyle choices and shares similar aspirations, or the opposite: people saying what we have done is not realistic / not sustainable / not desirable, especially from the financial perspective. As you may know, how Vitaly & I together reached retirement early and finance our lifestyle in Bali is well documented here ruclips.net/video/8JLn2d43Wfw/видео.htmlsi=sO1o3HJ-QyNQYbgA & ruclips.net/video/lnEtkz9SMCQ/видео.htmlsi=EhtTZQNnedFinzLj. Much of what we share now comes long after the real ups and downs (undocumented back then) of stumbling our way to an early retired life in Bali in our late 30s. I will be the first to admit that in getting to our life today, Vitaly and I - we were both so fortunate to have started out with many advantages. For me, being born in Singapore, having access to quality education, great opportunities, the privilege of not having financial dependents…. Still, we’ve worked hard all our lives, individually and together, to get to where we are today. We were also incredibly lucky that no real misfortune befell us along the way. Our hard work actually paid off. The risks we took generally turned out well. Those aren’t things we take for granted either. Depending on whether one is looking up or down the line, there’ll always be others. There will always be many people way more privileged than us - who despite their advantages choose to remain on a life path they dislike. And there’ll always be many who started out with way less than us, who have reached for what they really really wanted, and often achieved far greater feats than a simple retired life in Bali. There will always be unfortunate people out there struggling to get by, just trying to meet their basic needs. People beset by systemic poverty, discrimination, ill health, war, bad governments, natural disasters etc. But for the rest of us, if what’s holding you back is the discomfort of taking risks, going out of your comfort zone and not knowing if something will work, then I hope my thoughts in this video is helpful for you. Live long & prosper 🖖
Thanks for your nice thoughts n share Jean. I'm going to Bali on the begining of the 3rd week of April. To me Bali is a mystical place 🌊🌊🌊🌴🌴🌴🙏 PS, sheesshhh....I didn't know it takes about 12 hours to reach Lombok 😅 It will be my next destination in the future. Enjoy your day 🖖
Dear Jean, I feel you 🙏🏼 There will always be people who will have an "explanation" for why this particular lifestyle is possible for you but not for themselfes, rather than looking for ways to make it possible, if that's what they really want. I get to hear that a lot and it's not always a pleasure to talk to these people. But I'm getting better at understanding and accepting that every one of us has their own reality. Most people are not even aware of their own perception of life. But this individual perception is dictating most of our thoughts, beliefs and steps we take. It takes time, effort and most importantly a very good reason why one should ever question their own beliefs, let alone change them. But if they do, everything can change - in a heartbeat your life can turn upside down, your most craziest dreams can become true. I've experienced it myself. But I know this is not a way for everyone. So I come always back to this: Live and let live. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and the beautiful scenery. ♥️
I feel like I’m living the life on auto pilot, there’s no tragedy in life no overly happy life, just life is passing by me; I truly admire your life choices, I intend to show your video to my students and invoke their life choices, I wish that everyone could live a life like yours, I see the beautiful nature in your videos and I wanna cry that how could I live far from such natural beauty. You are truly lucky to experience such a beautiful life
Totally agree ❤. I love your lifestyle. I too live a slow intentional life. For now I am happy living in Norway with my family, but i love visiting Bali. it has a very special place in my heart.
One cannot turn back the hands of time, Jean. I have learnt not to wish the past had panned out differently. Nothing good comes of dwelling on coulda, shoulda, woulda's
Thank you for this. Since my mom passed, I’ve lost the desire to do things and “live” my life. I’ve just been going through the motions. You’ve encouraged me to change that.
Your channel just showed up yesterday and I have watch several of your videos since. You are so calming! You are giving me so much to consider as I am planning to retire in the next 2 years or possibly sooner!! We will see. Our choices always have consequences! Thanks for sharing!♥
im a grown 40 year old family man, grown up in old fashioned way in sg, all the things i learnt in my life, is about survival and excel, and being hard as brass knuckles, and i have grown a fucking thick skin. my mates watch football, i swear and used to drink. now i watch this video and made me question alot about my priorities in life. wtf is this?? thanks jean for this video...
"allergic to uncertainty and discomfort" That's ringing a big bell for me at the moment. I'm in the middle of figuring something out and I am not even sure what it is... But that, yes, it may be the key.
I take most of my vacations this way. On my recent trip to Bali I rented only 1 room in advance near the airport. Then that night I booked 4 days in Ubud. Then booked the last 2 places the nights before we left. It may cost a little more but allows us to flow with recommendations when we have boots on the ground.
So true the older we get the more we wish that we had taken 'more risk'. "Stay young keep the wheels in motion" Crosby Stills and Nash. Travelled to Bali many times but never made it to Lombok. Too old now (73) and my much better half is (76) and not the surf skills I once had in my youth. Snorkeling is still her passion, me not so much. Pup looks happy.
Jean....I can't tell you how timely and meaningful this video is to me! I've decided to not return to teaching. I'm starting a marketing business, which is so exciting and frightening. Your words resonate powerfully with me. I can feel your heartbeat in this video. So much about the things you share and the way you live feel like my own heartbeat. I have watched your videos for quite awhile now, but this one is particularly powerful to me because I've chosen to make the changes I'm making in my life. Thank you for your bravery and generosity in life. I look forward to continuing to be encouraged by you.
Hello jean, i just started watching your videos as i am in well a bad place in life now, you have given me hope for my future please keep doing what you are doing, i love you views on life
Absolutely agree with the messages. More ppl should hear it! Sometimes though to choose your dreams is very hard. I plan to be a nomad after my kids grow up. Unfortunately, they dont get the awe in nomad life😂 therefore, I need to wait for my dreams to be a reality
Hiiiiii Jean🔆 So happy that you and hubby took the trip and are having a relaxing/fun time. Time does continue to pass. What are we waiting for? I don't dwell on the unknown or what if, but I've lost my way on stepping out on faith and doing what my ❤ desires. Watching your videos gives me courage...some day! Take care and continue the much needed messages- we here, appreciate you❤
Amazing video: insightful, poignant, encouraging, beautiful views! Your gentle kind nature shines through. Thank you ! I want to encourage everyone who watches to hit the like button in support!
Hi jean a lovely video as usual enjoy your holiday making precious memories and I agree most things in life are our own choices regrets I have a few but I can’t only look forward and not back thank you jean
Thanks for this I needed the kick in the pants. I have been hesitant to make a trip to Thailand it ihas been on my bucket list for awhile. Just because of the extremely long layover 8 hours either in Japan or ?? sorry brain is not working. Now I honestly dont care I am going to go for it.
On a long layover, it is worth getting access to a lounge. Maybe you already have a card, or just pay. In Taipei it was $44, there is food and drink, and chairs to nap in.

thats the thing, money is what is keeping us anchored to certain circumnstances so is not as easy as just saying yes ill do this or that, if you are in debt, or have family to take care of. As magical as her life is, is not posible for eveyone, even if they wanted and say yes.
Pile of garbage at 9.04? How easy it would be to not turn away, but to clean it up with, or without the help of others. Why I would never go to that region of the world. I understand that there is garbage everywhere - and nobody doe anything about it. Sad.
It could also be a pile of clothing of someone swimming -- the water bottle is upright. I find it interesting that both your comments on this channel are negative.

*This video sounds like you were talking directly to me, like you were in my head, knowing my thoughts....*

Just beautiful, Jean . . . thank you for the inspiration to take action, to move towards personal joy . . . . priceless!!
I love the title of this video and the message you’re delivering. It’s giving me positive energy to keep growing my RUclips channel.

Action speaks the loudest.
I used to be like this- make a choice and figure out later. I need to get back to this! I am planning for the future but forgetting ot live now.
Very true well said Jean Voronkova
Love your videos, your strength your courage and your voice 🥰
Thank you Jean & Vitaly for the inspiration you gave me with this beautiful video. Hope one day i can meet you down in Bali. ❤

This is the confirmation that I needed. Thank you! 😊 🙏🏽
I think when you are told NO from everyone around you, you start to listen to them and become complacent.
thanks for the reminder, love your videos ✨

Beautiful Jean, thanks for sharing☺️

it's worked pretty nicely for us so far 😍🙏
Thank you!!
Are there many secluded spots in Bali or Lombok? Looking at visiting and filming yoga videos there but worried about noise.
I love your content so much. Thank you for always inspiring me to take steps in the direction of my dream life
Thank you for uploading your videos and wisdom. What's your diet like to stay so energetic and healthy?
You are soo right!! ❤
There are three things that bring anxiety. Fears, control ( not having it) and uncertainties.
These are blocks that prevent you and your authenticity.
True.
Just like me to my boss. Say yes first, think about it later. 😂 Great insights as always, though. ❤
Thank you Jean 🙏❤️
truly well said ❤
Thanks, Jean.

It is all so inspiring 😊
God bless you Jean
Lombok seems way more laidback! i have the same speakers btw (audioengine :))
Probably cause Bali is overrun by people now and it seems way more dynamic.
Super love your vlog since covid era

So i should move to bali with just 3000 dollar and figure it out later? 😂
lol
Why not....

How do I just “figure it out later” if I’m broke. I guess I need an emergency fund first
Plz make ASMR videos, I love your voice
