Wrote a long comment on Sat but deleted it. All I can say is, you're "deep". I love Bali for many things, environment, scenery, landscape etc. But look and study the Balinese carefully. They're calm, contended, happy, simple, very giving, generous, tight community, standing in solidarity, banjar before self.....and many more fine qualities. I think alot of people found meaning through interactions with them without even knowing it. But I think finding meaning in life is a journey, it changes as you progress in life. If one already achieve that attainment & enlightenment.. then you've achieve Nirvana. There is no more purpose in life. Years ago I sat for hours in a cafe in Ubud staring out at the rain splattering and asked myself this question too. And the simple minded me told myself what a wonderful sight I'm viewing now. The sound & sight of splattering rain. Live & enjoy the moment. Don't think too much.

Totally agreed with you. People get different thoughts about this video (which is very profound). I read through the comments to see what people think about the 'meaning of life' subject but I like yours most - similar like mine. It was the question I did ask myself for so long but now I stop wondering about that. Just enjoy the present !
Hi Terubong, thanks for your note. Why did u delete the Saturday comment? Now i'm so curious lol. But i'm v happy u left some thoughts. I wrote n rewrote this video many many times before producing it because the more one thinks about it the more the idea about meaning of life develops. That's why i'm very happy to see that some people left a number of comments which are all additional food for thought. Very interesting. I totally agree w u about the Balinese. Its part of why we love this place, and also Vietnam (they rank super high on the happiness index despite general living conditions being quite tight!) But yes, the balinese.. very interesting study. I hv a general distrust of mass religion n mass anything, but i truly believe faith n spirituality makes people a better version of themselves. Here in Bali they keep to their traditional faith strongly, they spend loads of time with their community and generally everyone is so considerate to others n they all walk around with smiles on their faces. It's wonderful to be near them. Like influences like. Here we're much more comfortable smiling at others and reaching out to help or just to talk, because we know it generally is received with a smile. Unlike in Singapore or Moscow where people are a lot more suspicious of strangers lol. I think that when people sit n contemplate this question and can reach the conclusion that we just need to live n enjoy the moment, there's no further complicated higher meaning in life - that's already one full cycle of thought come n gone mate. You're happy observing the rain. Neat!
@Lê La Here and There being able to harness the Power of the Now, as Eckhart Tolle says. Happy for you, it's a pivotal point in life to be able to shift ones perspectives from the niggling troubles to just enjoying the present moment!
20 years of military service. 13 years of service in law enforcement. I retired at 50 years old. What brings me joy is fishing in the ocean for pelagic fish, and spending quality time with my dog. I rescued him from a shelter when he was 9 months old. He is almost 2 years old now. When my wife retires, I will enjoy traveling with her to places I visited when I was in the military.
You have gained a profound understanding at a young age. When the mind is calm it can appreciate the joys of life’s basic and simple pleasures: relationships, giving and receiving love, using and improving those abilities that bring us peace and pleasure. It’s so easy to become distracted and dissatisfied in externals. I wish you continued peace and happiness.
This is exactly where I’m at mentally. I’m not interested in the material and superficial things anymore, and would be much happier and at peace in nature and living a simple life. Being in competition with others, feeling unworthy or less than, surrounded by toxicity…this can get you down pretty fast especially when you live in an urban city. You’re also right to point out that meaning is unique to each individual. Beautiful video once again, keep this going Jean! ❤️
thanks Cindi, its cool that you're moving beyond the whole consumerism n competition obsessed stage that lots of others r still swimming around in .... time to move on to nicer ponds 😍 rooting for u!
Working on it Jean! It’s a constant work in progress haha. But watching your videos is a good reminder. Have a great day and looking forward to more videos ☺️
Hi Jean, we have lots in common. I grew up in Japan, went to one of the best Uni, worked for very famous business magazine as editorial staff, shopped expensive European brand shops like Versace and Loui Vuitton, and bought my first European car by cash etc. Then I started surfing near Tokyo. Everything changed. I started searching meaning of my life. I quit my high paid business magazine job and started working for surfing fashion magazine. I met many interesting people in surfing industry in Japan. Then I quit my job in Tokyo and came to Australia when I was 27years old. I’m 55 now. I don’t regret my life because I turned into who I am through my journey. But I also think what if sometimes. These days my Australian life is getting longer, so I try to maintain some part of myself who grew up in wonderful Japanese culture . Let’s keep enjoying healthy amazing surfing life style. Hopefully someday I will surf with you at my local beach, Snapper Rocks in Gold Coast Australia!
Hi Hanako, it's so wonderful to hear from you, and i think you're quite astute about our commonalities! Thank u for sharing your interesting life story, i really loved hearing about it n imaging how it must have been for u. Your life sounds so eventful n full of exciting things. I started questioning about life meaning since i was a teen.... but same as it was for you, life changed for me when i started to surf. It just became something my soul yearned for, n together with my desire to do art n be creative, it became the motivating factor to change my job and my life eventually, because i guess i had something i really wanted to run towards, not just "run away from my job" lol. AU life sounds wonderful n the surf must be amazing. Wishing u lots of cool waves! Lots of aussies shd be here in Bali once borders reopen maybe we can surf together in bali one day too!
25 years ago I would go to a bookstore to buy a self developing book to help me develop my mind. Today, thanx to people like you who are willing to share good thoughts that is more relatable for living in today's life. Love your videos so much 😍😍😍
I never asked to be born and I didn't choose my parents or the other people around me like; neighbors or classmates. But, I realized that my role in life is to take care of my old parents as an only child, I wish I've realised this sooner and didn't waste so much time in going to college and careers.
You’re an inspiration. I just found out your channel an hr ago and been watching your vlogs. This is the life I want but need more time to realized it.
just sharing my own conclusions from my own life experiences after spending so long ploughing externally in search of internal satisfaction lol 🙏😄 hope it works for u!
I had to pause this video so as to comment. Jean, you had me spell bound. I just stumbled on your video this morning while getting my son ready for school. Am obsessed with your contents already. Wao! This is amazing. You touched my life.
Your notion is quite similar to Oscar Wilde's quote: "All art is quite useless". We don't have to put any meaning into things that we enjoy, so we do not need so much hope and fear. Thanks for your sharing!
happiness and meaning and safety and basic comforts in life.... all essential elements. I wish more of everyone could have them in life. Thanks Zamrud. U have a good week where u r.
Very interesting thoughts!! What comes into my mind is this: there is no meaning in doing(whatever that includes shinny things , small things, cleaning a toilet or flying an airplane) the state of being matters. Being is more important than doing.
Hi Souzie, thanks for your comment 🙏 it’s an interesting point to bring up. State of being definitely is what we bring into everything we do n is very important. But I also feel that doing n what we choose to do is equally essential. When I was up in the mountains in yoga camp we did a lot of meditation n stillness practice. But I questioned whether a lifetime of being up in the mountains being quiet n still was the way. It’s definitely possible, but I prefer a life of action whilst being in a positive n peaceful state of being
I have a corporate job. And a business. I spend 10-12 hours a day working, atleast 6 days a week. I have three children. The next twenty years of my life are pretty much - set in stone. There is something about having a family, and such heavy responsibilities where 'meaning' or that is to say, personal explorative meaning - no longer seem relevant. My meaning is supporting my family. My joy comes through them. I do truly wonder, if young women are aimless (or feel a deep 'loss' of purpose) because of lack of children. There's something natural and instinctive about it all. I noticed this a lot back in the dating days. But then, I watch these videos and daydream about what it would be like to surf in Bali for 3 months. Or the peacefulness of Jean's (and people like her) daily life. I have no answers. Either way, I am a fan of these videos and the 'tone' of them. Very well done. Just thinking (and daydreaming) out loud. There are infinite ways to achieve meaning and happiness, and love. Hopefully as many people are able to find their own path as possible!
So true. We are so conditioned to get into the corporate workforce and make tons of money for... superficial stuff and titles. Instead I also decided to look at how I can actually add value and being of service to others. Enhancing other people's life with the experience and knowledge gained over the years. Great reflection. 🙏💚🦋
Thank you Mike 🙏😊 there's a japanese thought somewhere about our self worth being reflected back at us by other people who are our mirrors. This just popped into my mind when I read your comment. It's a nice thought from the perspective of giving to others, big or small.
Absolutely beautiful and amazing synopsis ......... Sooo glad to find another soul who traveled the same path that I traveled ..... Early retired Engineer / Mexico
great insights. i'm sure your sharing will resonate with many people; especially groups of teenagers, fresh grads and mid-career professionals who have landed themselves in similar situations of questioning their purpose in life. many have hit moments of panic and anxiety when they realised that they have no motivation or lost direction in life. many have also struggled with meeting expectations (of society, parents, self-imposed, etc.) and aligning those expectations with what they truly desire. oftentimes we are hit with difficult decisions between choosing what we should do and what we really want (sadly, we often don't even realise this and end up with many unhappy moments/periods). your point on creating meaning in your own life cannot be overemphasized. coming to terms with the associated tradeoffs would be an important goal too.
You made me realise that chasing for success is not a matter of how much money you earned it's how much happiness and joy you feel inside you that will make you feel really successful at the end of the day
Yep, that’s definitely society’s definition of success imposed on us contrasted against our internal barometer of a successful happy life. Very important difference to be conscious about! 🤗🤗🤗
@@JeanVoronkova oh my thank you, as I watched your videos I cried by the way because I feel that I am actually experiencing the void that you've been talking about way back when you still have your job as a lawyer, the emptiness and all, like everything seem to be a never ending competition and a chase for more and more money and material things😢 that somehow we forgot to see what are the most important things in life
Hi Jean, thank you for your fine show. Thanking God for your life and your journey. Being one with nature. Just watching and appreciating God's wonderful nature brings joy to the creator. Your show brings meaning to many people. You are helping many people try to find there way. Asking good questions we all ask ourselves. Know the most meaning is when we realize how much God loves us. Best to you, Dave
I can relate to each and every point you mentioned in the video. I appreciate the fact that with your videos you promote simplicity- in today's world of full of materialism. Your voice is so soothing..it just drips from ears to deep inside the mind.. Love from India.
hi Shruti, thanks for your kind feedback. We live in a world that's spinning faster and faster by the second towards more tech, more convenience, more speed for everything, more everything. It's not necessarily the right direction to move towards. Let's just try to stay sane in this!
Love your story Jean! I too found happiness with the simple things in life... I too wanted to chase the shiny things... materialistic things... house cars wealth etc. But then I see a lot of misery that comes with revolving life around just things. This is one of the major reasons why I quit my corp job. I too was a good artist when I was younger and now I'm making content to kind of fulfill my artist/creative side. It's never work when I'm making videos. I love to connect with people and learn about other cultures and try and get to an understanding on how they think... what makes them tick? I find the world fascinating... I guess it's my curious nature. The 9 to 5 40 hours a week behind a desk isn't for me. Living the "American Dream" so to speak isn't my dream. What is the meaning in life - everyone has thier own. Mine is to live free, in peace, and with nature. Jesus is my savior and live for spreading his Word. Not to say I'm going to become a pastor or missionary, but He works through people in different ways. My calling is RUclips and I will find a way to spread His message while living the best life I can.
Thank you.....oh yes.....Thank you. I sit here at 11:30pm, on Friday night 10/22.....and I just found your videos, or did they find me? I retired about 5 years ago from a full time job....and while I've had a few part-time ventures, I have found the skill to manage my free time, and have explored new places to live. Now on the East Coast of U.S., having moved from the craziness of the West Coast and S. California. It was too crazy, too crowded, too expensive.....and we are getting too old. So slowly I've taken my live much slower, and enjoyed things I just used to run by. I'm still not where I want to be physically.....and mercy, Bali looks so perfect !!! I was a travel agent in my working days, and I still want to visit so many places.....experience new cultures, food....a way of life that will have meaning for me. Now I have so many of your video's to watch and enjoy.....and learn from. Searching for the meaning in my life. Thank you Jean......
Hi Paul, thank you so much for sharing about your story with us here. Its one of the reasons why I'm motivated to make these videos. it's so interesting to hear other people's life journeys.... You're absolutely right. I find that it takes skill to manage free time properly and productively, and its wonderful to hv the freedom to choose where you wish to live and not be tied down by factors like the job. I'm glad that at this stage where u r u get to slow down n smell the flowers. Perhaps u might make it across oceans to even visit Bali in person! All the best!
I so appreciate your thoughts, your insight and your opinions. I really enjoy your channel. It’s refreshing to find truly interesting people. Thanks for sharing
Hi Jean, I have watched some of your videos, very inspiring. I moved to Bali 1.5 years ago and realised that I have peaceful mind here. Like you, I also started everything when I moved here - quit my job and find alternative sources of income. Keep growing this channel as, I believe, it inspires a lot of people. Cheers...
Spoken with Grace and humility. I look forward to more of your inspirational posts.Whilst Bali is lovely and a wonderful example to us all of commUNItY.The real adventure is inwards .You are definitely finding your happy place by living from the inside out not the outside in.Namaste.
thank you LInda 🙏😊 i totally agree with u. We are wonderfully lucky to be able to be here in Bali right now, but aside from the surfing everything else is really about the inner state of being n perspective and cd be done from anywhere really. Wishing u a wonderful week ahead.
well i've had a helluva time growing up in order to get to what i am now at 38 years old... n its still a headscratcher at many times to be honest! 😅😄 but i wish u calm, happiness and contentment wherever u are too hey Paolo
your voice is really calming; i enjoy these kind of deep videos. i also greatly enjoyed the one about quitting your job. would love to see more videos like this!
Hannahwashere, I enjoy these stress relieving videos too. I am struggling with the whether or not to retire question. There are elements in my life that are unsettled. I am looking for a path forward. Thank you
Thank you Jean! Totally agreed, I quit my job 7 years ago and working on+for myself. It's great to listen to your perspective. I just need this as it can get lonely (sometimes😅) walking on this path
Hi! thank you for leaving me this note and sharing about your journey. yes it does get very very lonely i know exactly what you mean. Now that i run this channel it's become an online space for this kinda thing. But back when i was struggling in my early days to not just collapse and fade back into the easy corporate life thingey it was so darn lonely. I was lucky i had a couple of v supportive friends even tho they didn't share my unusual ambitions. I hope you hv some of those too.
I really enjoyed this video. I too spent years looking for meaning and ‘my purpose.’ In the end I realized I was craving certainty but discovered that it was in the uncertain times my life felt richest and most fulfilling. Thank you so much for sharing so genuinely😊👊🏾
Hi Hazen, thank u for the kind note. We all want that sense of certainty in where we are going and our future - it is just a basic instinct for security maybe - but it's also a bit delusional haha. Change is constant, and seeking externally for internal satisfaction turned out to be a myth for me so when i realised it i decided to share so hopefully others benefit too. Anyway, all the best for your journey onwards!
Something that is rarely practiced, that brings immense meaning and contentment, is gratitude. Once I started making a conscious effort to give thanks to everything in my life, my life became intolerably luminous. I'd cry simple because I feel so blessed to have my health, people who love me and people I get to love, my culture in which I am deeply rooted in and being of service to my people/loved ones.. For me, nothing is more meaningful and important that then those things I mentioned. I've been blessed enough to have traveled the world, live freely, buy nice things but none of that is even comparable to the love of family and service to my culture.
From young we Singaporeans were told to study get a degree get a good job n get married We keep chasing goal after goal eventually most are not “living” just surviving There should be no time line in life no fixed path n full of surprises Glad u have discover Life and may I find mine soon xoxo
Hi Songtian, yes u expressed exactly what I feel in my heart. I felt exactly like I was just a robot on automation mode whenver i was working n living in Singapore. It just isn't the place for me, although for many others they r happy there so the system works for them. I do like my path being full of surprises around the corners! Having it all thought out for u by the government gets real sian. I hope u find your exciting path soon!
Hi: I feel exactly the same way of my upbringing in Singapore; work, system, daily sian..etc. I left for the USA more than 30 years ago. Yes true- the pasture is greener on the other side of the fence; simply look at Bali, surf, beaches, oil painting, yoga and sunset- it is heavenly! I now reside in California, I found my meaning of life. I am so glad to connect- what a blessing. 🙏🤝
Singapore's expensive cost of living is the reason. Am not into fancy living because i had all that and i decided enuf is enuf. Slaving in a rat race is not my endgame
@@fomoyolope3573 hey California is super cool too n u can even possibly run into my surf idol Kanoa Igarashii haha. Everything we r doing in Bali, i think u can do over there too. Its more a state of mind than anything else - the surf n the beautiful surroundings is just a bonus. Cheers to u in Cali!!

The meaning of life is not the same for all; it is a personal journey. I was a degreed successful Biomedical Engineer in the US after struggling out of the gutter and serving my nation honorably in the military. I went on a much-needed vacation in 2015 instead of signing another employment contract - and never went back. I am soooooo happy that I gave up the US "dream" nightmare. I have traveled many places, and have resided in 3 different SE Asian countries for pennies on the dollar that anyone in the US pays for a much lesser life.
Totally agree, the meaning is what each person gives it individually. Let's face it, no one had a choice to be here, but what you do with your life and the meaning you give it would be what matters to you. Obviously if you are able to help others or relieve pain in another, your life will likely be more fulfilling. If nothing else, try to be part of a positive solution, not part of the problem. I think we've all seen enough chaos to last us a lifetime...
Fully agree with your brilliant and idealistic insights about life cos when we stop searching for the meaning of life it is in that very moment our life become Meaningful . Keep up with the great postings cos I truly enjoy all of your videos.
heya Boba Fett! nice to see you in our space again. Yeah that's just how life is isn't it? once u stop grasping at something in the ether and start doing your own stuff what you're seeking just pops right up at u like a pair of lost specs.
I really appreciate your video, we live in a world with so many distractions and most people thrive on materialistic possessions, but in reality, living with less frees up your time to do other things.
Thanks for sharing your insightful thoughts Jean :), meaning of life for me is to be able to help someone, whatever that is, can be through financial means, time, care or anything else. Seeing those that I helped and to be able to at least put a smile in their face, gives me satisfaction. I know for everyone is different. Don't live for yourself but live to help others in any capacity you can.
u sound like a wonderful n giving person. The people in your life are lucky to have you! I'm really happy you found your own personal formula to a meaningful life, that's so important i think.
I’ve enjoyed this video. Indeed, meaningfulness in life is viewed differently by individuals depending on their beliefs and passion as well as roles and tasks they take on. Things that I ask myself are whether a role or task will bring about satisfaction, peace of mind and joy, and whether it will build me up physically, mentally or emotionally. If it won’t, it’s just not worth pursuing.
I read something whereby the author suggesting "doing stuff that enlarges you as a person" as opposed to making you happy, as happiness can be quite fleeting n short termed. Sounds similar to your philosophy n i think its all very sound thoughts. Thanks for sharing!
It's so easy. The meaning of life is as follows ... Mind is for Learning, Body is for creating, and Spirit is for Loving.... So in essence, Life is to experience Learning, Creating and Loving... Too easy. Goodluck!
It's always interesting to get another meaning of life interpretation. I find you to be an interesting person. I watch and subscribe to support your endeavor. One thought came to me watching this video. Less is more.
Bill, 10.23 is what it takes to allow this person to tell her story and thoughts, and that fundamentally is her message, we each have a story to tell in the time it takes to tell it. cheers
Loved this episode and your 'meaning of life' You are well on your way to an inner happiness. At 70 and trying to resurrect my fitness level to enjoy long boarding again on the gold coast I can relate to so many of your thoughts especially the footage looking out from the Bukit. Thankyou!
hullo Doug!! nice to hear from a fellow surfer. I'm rooting for you and the longboard! I hope that when i'm 70 V and I will still be surfing as well! Gold coast sounds chill and u sound familiar with the Bukit! see ya around!
exactly Tawfik! I felt like i was living life on automatic mode in Singapore with the government as my brain! Glad i left..... it's just not for me there. Hope u're living each day to the fullest!
@@JeanVoronkova yes dear my house sold yesterday and I got very good equity from it so Deanna and I planning to travel to Turkey first and if we don’t like it Thailand and Indonesia next possibly morocco also 👍🙏
Well said! I just finished a section in the Existential Therapy online course I'm currently taking and it specifically discussed meaning (Viktor Frankl). And then I stumbled upon your video... Thank you for the reminder and also for being authentic and sharing it with us, Jean!
thanks narini! that book just keeps on giving, I swear. There's so many different interpretations to be drawn from it as well, each time i get something new from rereadng it over the years. Wd love to hear any particular insights from u too if u're inclined to share!
@@JeanVoronkova When people ask for the meaning of life I use to have two answers: 1. Read Frankl! 2. The meaning is what you decide to be the meaning! I see that you have found both these, so I don't need to advice you! (For me it is the relationships to others and also the endless wondering about the connection between mathematics, physics and consciousness!)
@@JeanVoronkova I haven't read the book yet, still waiting in my list of to-read book 😆But definitely would love to discuss with you once I finish reading it 😺
I love this video so much. I have an urge inside of me about finding the true meaning of life. I think I’m halfway there of finding it. Your video is validating my thoughts exactly about it. Thank you miss. Thank you so so so much. ❤️🙏🏼
hi tommy, thank you for your kind note. I'm glad you found this video helpful in terms of developing your own thoughts about life and meaning. I'm very happy about that! Have a good week ahead!
simplicity wonderful, I am learning new things today by observing and put more attention to surrounding with simple joy life lol and realized how wonderful the birds voice surrounding, kids smiling and running with freedom
I'm listening to you on a quiet Sunday morning in Singapore... Your voice and openess to share your thoughts calm me down and make me smile. I'll be the first to subscribe if you were to consider doing Podcast.
hello fellow Singaporean! thanks for leaving this note, it makes me feel a tad closer to home. U sound so calm n positive too! I'm too old fashioned to keep up with techy stuff like podcasts (I have a vague idea of what that is!) but if i ever stretch myself to do that i will let you know! haha!
You are WAY too nice to be a lawyer. Through your videos, you have touched quite a few people with up your disarming charm and genuine character that you could not have as a lawyer. Even if one does not agree with you, it is impossible not to like you.
Thank u 🙏 actually I know a lot of wonderful ppl who r all lawyers haha it doesn’t always involve having to be nasty! Although in litigation there’s certainly a few mean fishes floating around. But anyway! To each their own path. Is there stuff u disagree w btw?
@@JeanVoronkova I have a great friend who was a lawyer for years. He ended up teaching at a university. He said he couldn’t handle the dishonesty in being a lawyer. I really don’t know what he meant by that.
Many people lived their lives without knowing why they live the way they do. Most of us spent nearly all of our lives building wealth and raising a family and does not have the time to ponder why. Only when you get to your twilight years, then it all becomes clear. Life is about building memories, preferably good memories of good and wonderful times. That's all you will have left when you grow old. And if you are fortunate enough to share and reminisce them with someone who was with you all along the way, then that is the meaning of life. Thus when my children and grandchildren ask me what is the meaning of life. i will tell them to build and create good memories and plan to share it with someone along the way for as long as you both can. Sometimes circumstances beyond our control may create bad memories, but the choices you make will determine their eventual outcome.
HI joseph, thank u for your kind note. I really enjoyed reading it and seeing your POV. It's very lyrical and paints a beautiful picture of the life cycle. You make an awesome dad n grandpa i bet. Very sound advice. And yes, it is definitely your choices that shape the eventual outcome. I hope your kids n grandkids have a wonderful lifepath ahead. n continue making great memories even in the garden years!
@@JeanVoronkova Thank you Jean. You are so kind and it resonates with my belief in Karma. I was born in Singapore and my father had eight children and we were impoverished. So poor that I had to leave school after Year 10, unable to continue to HSC because I had to find work to support my father and family. Fast forward fifty years. Now I live very comfortably in Australia and at 72, I still work in the IT industry. I got here by working , educating myself, living a clean and healthy lifestyle and creating good Karma. When you help others worse off than yourself, things seem to fall into place when you least expected it. It is not luck but good Karma. What I went through in my early years is nothing compared to being poor in some countries where daily life is rummaging through a rubbish tip filled with used syringes and bandages, to look for scraps. What I had was apples and fruits left on some street corners with joss sticks that people used to leave as prayer offerings. Terima Kasih, Kawan. Kehidupan sangat pendek. I love posting these messages. Its like message in a bottle. Someone somewhere in the world will one day read them. Just like what you are doing and if it helps someone then it is Karma.
What I discovered was not all of us find the thought of wealth to be the end all to life’s journey. There’s nothing wrong with those that do. It’s just some of us see things a bit different. I really enjoy your videos. Thank you.
I'm glad to hear that you finally found your happiness in life! Sometimes we spend so much time searching for meaning in our lives and forget to live it! i love the cinematic way you shot this too, such a wonderful motivational video from you my friend, I love it 😁🙌🏻
I agree and appreciate your understanding. Devoting your best self to health and helping others, being responsible and courageous and kind, enjoying the simple pleasures of life. You inspire me to be more conscious about what I am choosing to do and be more willing to experiment and try different ways of life.
hullo Drake (luv the music! haha), yes i think being experimental if one is generally conservative, can be a great favor to oneself. But generally, i just believe in good karma from doing the right stuff, for others and for yourself. Keep safe n stay healthy u!
Wowww absolutely beautiful video Jean, so cinematic 😍 love your voice too! Very inspiring message, it’s so easy to say “do what you love” but what does it really mean and how do I do that? Thanks for sharing your story ❤️
Very well said! Everyone's meanings of life is different! That is why I think we should not compare ourselves with others and just do what we love. Thanks for the video!
Yes, you reached the highest and peak and truly the meaning of life. Peaceful mind, calm soul, joyful inside and shining heart. Telling each story deeply and flawlessly
""While I didn't love the law... I loved surfing and being creative..." This is like saying, "I didn't like work... I liked vacationing..." That said, this was a great video.
LOL! Actually later on in life i had a brief 18 month stint as a client solutions manager in the Aussie law start up LOD n i quite loved that job! i felt like i learnt a lot in terms of managing people n relationships. If i had worked in that field from the start perhaps i might hv never left my work for surfing and creative work! But law was definitely a repelling factor lol!
@patrick It's completely subjective!. You, Patrick, may consider surfing as vacationing and law as work, for someone else the opposite may be true. Just because society decides that law is work and surfing is leisure doesn't mean it is so. Professional surfers/surfing instructors call surfing 'work' and I'm sure there are lawyers who do pro-bono for the 'fun'... It's all in the perspective... I applaud you Jean for following your heart ❤️🏄🎨
Cheers Elena, i'm happy to know that the video made a difference to you. Take heart and move forward a lil step every day. youll be surprised how far you'll hv gone after some time 🌻
I'm in my 20s, really not an expert or anyone else, just a completely normal person. But I was over with overconsumption and obsession. I was so overwhelmed when there are too many information for me to convey, too many things I wanted to purchase, too many places I wanted to travel, and too many ambitions from my family that they wanted me to chase. I have no freedom, no self-confident, I don't even have the permission to decide how my life would be. I just (and I have always wanted) to be free from all trauma, pressures and start a whole new life at somewhere else where I would be free, completely and just simply choose to be selfish, live more for myself. I felt since the beginning of Jan, I don't recognize my now self anymore: study on Stoicism, read more about minimalism, and finally after all these years, started to dig a bit deeper to find my true self-worth and self-love after being so sick of chasing love and commitment from other ppls :(( If we have the same perspectives, good luck to you all! I wish all the best and happiness for you :3
Wow I got so emotional watching this. thank you for sharing For the longest time I have always thought my life is meaningless so why bother. Little did I know I was looking at meaning thru the eyes of the people around me.
Thank you for this. I lost my family and it’s been a challenge to create new meaning in my life. I keep going but I don’t have a reason except because I’m afraid to die. I am hopeful i will to give new meaning to my life this year.
You have a beautiful soul and spirit about you. Thank you for sharing your heart. Your personal journey is so inspiring to me and my heart resonants so much.
ya kamu benar, orang tua ku pernah mengatakan bahwa kamu jangan terburu buru dengan hidup mu, lebih baik jalanin hidup dengan pelan pelan dan yang terpenting adalah itu berarti bagimu🙏
hi Joy, thank u for your very kind words, i'm really happy that my content has resonated with you and i hope its been useful or helpful to u in some way in formulating your thoughts about certain ideas 🙏🙏😊
Thank you. It brings things into perspective. I have been planning to retire year after year, but never came around to it. However, I was able to take many months off almost every year, and have lived that combined life. But, from next year - I will finally do it. And your video helps in holding the course. :) And the meaning of life is simple - live your life as joyously as possible.
You are a strong soul, I have observed in several videos. You do not fall into the temptation of today's narcissistic trend of showing your body, posting fake pictures, being "spiritual" while hunting for likes and views. I totally respect that. You stay true to your values and it shows. On another note, I was in Bali for a longer period before the pandemic (en route to a longer stay with thai monks) and although I lived simply, tried to be among them, and wanted so badly to connect with locals, they do not seem to let you in, only to a certain extent. Behind the smiles and the cultural friendliness, you are always considered a bule, an outsider. The trendy yoga community repelled me. I was trying to find a serious meditation group. No ecstatic dancing, no enemas, smoothies, fancy clothes, lack of clothes, goddesses, selfies, just people who do not live for their inflated spiritual egos. I found one vipassana group in the end and that was a lifesaver. But I have to say, I felt relieved when I finally left and found myself among real spiritual people, who are living humbly, quietly with real faith. I wish there were more real people who live there in Bali, or I wish i could have found them. So I remain curious how real people experience Bali - not during a 2 week rush visit, but on a longer term. Not fond of those insta-lies and the b.s. that most of the people are parroting about living there in their expensive villas, with flowy dresses and with their smoothies in hand. That gets really old after a while. Love your message. ❤
hey eve! hullo! kindred spirit here!!! what u said really resonated with me, esp about the hippy yoga community here i met previously some years back pre-pandemic.... that was really ironic. I was also searching for inner simplification..... but i was really horrified by the commercialism of the whole spiritualisation industry i met here.... n it felt to me like a lot of poeple within that industry had quite disturbing issues that were being covered by a layer of hippy practices on the surfaces. So scary lol.... I've always wanted to try a vipassana getaway! sounds very intimidating though from friends who have done it. And i understand what you're saying about the local people.... but i don't hold it against them though. I have a husband who's also bule to me. In our time together, so often there r things that are so hard to explain in words to him why my position is the way it is, because my position is borne of my cultural background n values deeply ingrained thru osmosis since young. Cultural stuff and lines run very deep into the psyche i think. And also, remember that everything n everybody in life in transient. So we come, we go, and as long as we did the right stuff while we were here n we lived a good life, i think that's alright already. Hope you keep well somewhere out there and that you find what you seek ok.
@@JeanVoronkova Heyyyy Jean, big hug from Europe! I was so happy to read your thoughts. I totally understand the Balinese people, too. With the tourist invasion, no wonder they are apprehensive, lol. But never experienced this closed wall in any other countries, or with any other Asian culture, so it was interesting, but makes it more challenging if you are looking for a simpler, more connected life. Anyway, that was just my experience and maybe a few years would change it, or maybe I would go mad and start dressing like a goddess. Lol. Indeed, your personal life is a small version of the same challenges, and I totally get how everyday simple things can turn into complicated life-lessons, lol. But as an introspective person, I say it is an amazing gift and opportunity to open the mind and you are doing it amazingly with a partner who seems to be a really kind soul. A 10 day Vipassana retreat is life changing, and I am not exaggerating. Worth every minute in spiritual gold, lol. And this is rare in today's world. Not easy for the monkey mind, but only the first 3 days are harder, it starts smoothing out after that. By day 10 you do not recognize who you were on day 1. I don't think Bali has 10 day retreats, at least it didn't have when I was there, because they do not have a Vipassana centre. They have a large Buddhist temple up north, near Lovina where you can go for shorter mediation stays. But there are a few people who formed a Vipassana group to meet and meditate, and they have 1 hour mediation sittings once or twice every week in Ubud and Canggu. They have a facebook group where they can be reached. My conclusion after lots of travelling is that our self follows us everywhere, lol. No matter where we go, some version of the same stories arise, so might as well just deal with them where we are. So no seeking for me. Just kidding, but it is half true. Traveling is amazing for so many things and it opens and teaches us as long as we stay humble, and teachable. But the road has to eventually lead within. I will probably always remain a fan of slow traveling, but not of tourism. Wishing you sunshine and lots of peace there. 💖
Absolutely love your videos Jean, they are reawakening the spirit and passion within me for a greater life that has been becoming dormant in the last year with all the challenges. Thank you so much for your content!
Ur thema is great idea.. Some people try searching the meaning life For me..essential of meaning life is..usefull for others.. we can service and help the other with sincerely.. No hoping to deserve back.. So we will feel the meaning for other Love you..all
Wrote a long comment on Sat but deleted it.
This was a very long and wordy that says Life Has No Meaning, However.
Nicely shared, Terubong :). Like Jean said though, wish you didn't delete your Saturday's comment :(.
Happy to hear your plans n about your life cos it sounds simple and wonderful. N that’s a lucky dog there!
I am gonna cry of how comforting your voice is
You have gained a profound understanding at a young age. When the mind is calm it can appreciate the joys of life’s basic and simple pleasures: relationships, giving and receiving love, using and improving those abilities that bring us peace and pleasure. It’s so easy to become distracted and dissatisfied in externals. I wish you continued peace and happiness.
I love your comment so much it encapsulates so many simple truths. Thank u Frank
Enjoying every step of the way and sharing the best of it 🧜♀
life has meaning its called god
I just made the first part of your quote my desktop wallpaper
I have found that one's meaning is to truly experience life, but also to connect to the cosmic conciousness and nature and just appreciate being.
Alan Watts! Lol
I feel you!
Great story and all the best greetings from Vladivostok 🧜♀
@@NadiaDubininaValues meaning is found in faith
Person who can found meaning of life after long quest is lucky one. Like Bon Jovi Said " I just wanna live while I am alive"
Feeling alive is an achievement! for a long while back there i just felt like i was living on automatic mode n not really alive.....
I found the meaning of life is to know and love God, and to love your neighbor as yourself. This makes my life purpose filled.
🤠🙏
That’s some wonderful philosophies to live by 🌻
Happy 😃 & Meaningful life is equal heathy and doing what you enjoyed to do and do it with excitement and harmonious with nature !!
Jean, you are “free” now, and continue to pursue your inner happiness!
Just happy everyday la Ann. Simple type. Hope u have that too 😄🙏🤗
I love that. Meaning is not found externally, it is something we create. Thank you!
just sharing my own conclusions from my own life experiences after spending so long ploughing externally in search of internal satisfaction lol 🙏😄 hope it works for u!
Thank you, you're quite genuine. Thanks for sharing yourself and your wisdom
I had to pause this video so as to comment. Jean, you had me spell bound. I just stumbled on your video this morning while getting my son ready for school. Am obsessed with your contents already. Wao! This is amazing. You touched my life.
Thanks Mazi! so kind of u to leave such a supportive comment 🙏😄
Your notion is quite similar to Oscar Wilde's quote: "All art is quite useless". We don't have to put any meaning into things that we enjoy, so we do not need so much hope and fear.
Thanks for your sharing!
Great quote! Love Oscar Wilde, thanks for sharing!
I agree with you...live must be peace, comfort, safe...happiness. Till we the end
in this life on the planet.😀😘😘. Take care...Jean.
happiness and meaning and safety and basic comforts in life.... all essential elements.
It’s definitely possible, but I prefer a life of action whilst being in a positive n peaceful state of being
being faithful is good
I have a corporate job.
Early retired Engineer / Mexico
wonderful! Mexico's one of the places i've always wanted to go - for the surfing and the beauty of the place. And Frida Kahlo!
The fact that the meaning of our lives is ours to create, is in fact the greatest gift of being human....
that's so true! I am so thankful for everything.
no. there is an objective meaning
@@AC-mp7cx which is????
great insights. i'm sure your sharing will resonate with many people; especially groups of teenagers, fresh grads and mid-career professionals who have landed themselves in similar situations of questioning their purpose in life. many have hit moments of panic and anxiety when they realised that they have no motivation or lost direction in life. many have also struggled with meeting expectations (of society, parents, self-imposed, etc.) and aligning those expectations with what they truly desire. oftentimes we are hit with difficult decisions between choosing what we should do and what we really want (sadly, we often don't even realise this and end up with many unhappy moments/periods). your point on creating meaning in your own life cannot be overemphasized. coming to terms with the associated tradeoffs would be an important goal too.
I'm agree with you... terima kasih😊
🙏😊 i'm so glad u do! it's nice to find kindred spirits
God Bless you for reaching out to others with our Lord Jesus Christ. We all need him whether we know it or not.☮️
That's my questions since when I 6yrs old. and I knew that I must be something good for myself and others in my life.
Life is a choice... invest it for something meaningful, enjoy with loved ones and make it 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘺. And you have chosen the right one💞😇
well said, thank u 🙏😊!
Thank u Stan, I really appreciate the kind words 🙏😊 have a good time this coming weekend!
I admire you. You're so articulated & composed. You know what you want. You look happy, calm, content, peaceful.
well i've had a helluva time growing up in order to get to what i am now at 38 years old... n its still a headscratcher at many times to be honest! 😅😄 but i wish u calm, happiness and contentment wherever u are too hey Paolo
your voice is really calming; i enjoy these kind of deep videos. i also greatly enjoyed the one about quitting your job. would love to see more videos like this!
Thanks Hannah I’m really appreciative that u like the thoughtful content 😄🙏
Anyway, all the best for your journey onwards!
faith is what will make u happy
Something that is rarely practiced, that brings immense meaning and contentment, is gratitude. Once I started making a conscious effort to give thanks to everything in my life, my life became intolerably luminous. I'd cry simple because I feel so blessed to have my health, people who love me and people I get to love, my culture in which I am deeply rooted in and being of service to my people/loved ones.. For me, nothing is more meaningful and important that then those things I mentioned. I've been blessed enough to have traveled the world, live freely, buy nice things but none of that is even comparable to the love of family and service to my culture.
agree that gratitude & appreciation makes a world of a difference!
From young we Singaporeans were told to study get a degree get a good job n get married
We keep chasing goal after goal eventually most are not “living” just surviving
There should be no time line in life no fixed path n full of surprises
Glad u have discover Life and may I find mine soon

@@ssuwandi3240 exactly. I'm glad u realised what your end game could possibly be instead of running the hamster wheel :) congrats!
I absolutely agree with you 100%! You said it better than most inspirational speakers. You are a living example of living a meaningful life
Absolutely stunning and cinematic vibes. So calm and peaceful 😍❤
Thank you 🙏😊
I really appreciate your video, we live in a world with so many distractions and most people thrive on materialistic possessions, but in reality, living with less frees up your time to do other things.
Life is great when being shared 👍
yes but thats not everything. thats a limitation in life. it could be a subjective meaning
Beautiful message by a beautiful lady. Thank you!
thank u Wayne for sharing your time with us 🙏😊
I’ve enjoyed this video.
Too easy. Goodluck!
u got it down pat! :)
It's always interesting to get another meaning of life interpretation. I find you to be an interesting person. I watch and subscribe to support your endeavor. One thought came to me watching this video. Less is more.
Bill, 10.23 is what it takes to allow this person to tell her story and thoughts, and that fundamentally is her message, we each have a story to tell in the time it takes to tell it. cheers
Great! Love your very lovely words and observations...gems for sure! Inspiring!
Very interesting simple but enjoyable and feeling alive not a robot you did very good enjoy your life👍👍💃🏼💃🏼😘
exactly Tawfik!
@@JeanVoronkova I haven't read the book yet, still waiting in my list of to-read book 😆But definitely would love to discuss with you once I finish reading it 😺
I very much enjoyed your video ~ many pearls of wisdom. Thank you!
Thank u Rhonda, just sharing my thoughts… not sure at all they qualify as pearls of wisdom! Glad they resonate w u tho 🤗
Have a good week ahead!
simplicity wonderful, I am learning new things today by observing and put more attention to surrounding with simple joy life lol
and realized how wonderful the birds voice surrounding, kids smiling and running with freedom
that sounds amazing. I too love the sound of birds chirping in my garden and find it so precious that we are surrounded by such life.
I'm too old fashioned to keep up with techy stuff like podcasts (I have a vague idea of what that is!) but if i ever stretch myself to do that i will let you know! haha!
Today I've bumped into your channel. ❤️ Thank you for your peace and calm
I really don’t know what he meant by that.
great point 👍
Agree with that 😊
this is a very important video. more ppl need to watch this. i literally in the middle of chasing crisis rn and this what u say is such a big help.
thanks Cheryl im glad the video made a difference to you 😄🙏👍
Many people lived their lives without knowing why they live the way they do.

Sometimes we spend so much time searching for meaning in our lives and forget to live it! i love the cinematic way you shot this too, such a wonderful motivational video from you my friend, I love it 😁🙌🏻
heya tom! thanks for dropping by! I'll pass on your comment about the cinematography to the hubs who's behind it! he'll be very pleased :)
the meaning is in faith
Your pronunciation and diction is so precise that when I switch on the captions, it is super accurate.
Thank you for this video , gives me a new perspective!!!
very glad to hear it's had an impact on your thoughts on the matter, Alvin, thank u, that's very encouraging 🙏😊
Thank u Nhi! Glad U stopped by!
god is love. love isnt everything tho
Thank you for your videos, they give me a sense of peace.
Very well said! Everyone's meanings of life is different! That is why I think we should not compare ourselves with others and just do what we love.
Thanks for the video!
hey girly good to see u! thanks for dropping by! n yes. Comparison is so silly. lets not ever do it.
Thanks Jean...yaa...its life

Woah, this is heavy. Commenting first and watching it completely now. 🗿🧐🤔
Way to put your self out there and I know it's not the first time Jean. 💯🎯
This is such a wonderful video, the most fulfilling one I have seen on the platform in a very long time! 🌱
aww thank u wade!

Thank you, Jean. Looking for the courage to make a change... It is nice to see I am not alone...
Cheers Elena, i'm happy to know that the video made a difference to you. Take heart and move forward a lil step every day. youll be surprised how far you'll hv gone after some time 🌻

Thanks alot for your nice videos dear Jean... You are on the right path... wish you all the best... hi from Greece...
hi Proton Marine, thank you for this kind note, stoked that you enjoy the videos! all the best to u in your life path as well hey
I felt since the beginning of Jan, I don't recognize my now self anymore: study on Stoicism, read more about minimalism, and finally after all these years, started to dig a bit deeper to find my true self-worth and self-love after being so sick of chasing love and commitment from other ppls :((
If we have the same perspectives, good luck to you all! I wish all the best and happiness for you :3
🌻😊
What a voice. so soothing .
Wow I got so emotional watching this.

For the longest time I have always thought my life is meaningless so why bother.
Little did I know I was looking at meaning thru the eyes of the people around me.
Enjoy in your life Jean.. I hope you're happy and healthy.. you are so inspiration for me.. thank you so much..
Thank u Andy, I wish for u health and happiness too, the most important basic stuff in life 🤗😊

Thank you for this. I lost my family and it’s been a challenge to create new meaning in my life. I keep going but I don’t have a reason except because I’m afraid to die. I am hopeful i will to give new meaning to my life this year.
I hope you find it

I found your channel today morning, thank you thank you thank you… I needed to find someone like me to feel like I’m not crazy for choosing me.
Definitely not, we shd always prioritise ourselves n really what people say is largely irrelevant 😞 hang in there!

Thanks for promoting Bali Tourism... God Bless you and Vitaly 👍😎👍
thank u 🙏😊 Bali is a special place and it deserves the top place it has amongst the worlds tourism spots
Thank you Jean and Vitaly. May God bless your relationship and may your channel thrive to bless others as you have blessed me.
hi Joy, thank u for your very kind words, i'm really happy that my content has resonated with you and i hope its been useful or helpful to u in some way in formulating your thoughts about certain ideas 🙏🙏😊
Your plans sound great I’m excited for u! Good luck moving forward with them, and with living meaningfully and joyously everyday 😄
Thank you Jean. Putting things in prospective as always. It’s never too late to reinvent yourself.
True that, in life it’s never too late!
@@JeanVoronkova I’m at moment in need of inspiration and I’m so glad I found your channel. Please continue with more of these videos.
I agree.👍

It has a unique charm.👏
