    H. pylori is the only bacterial species to my knowledge that thrives in environments with a pH less than 7 (i.e. acidic environments.) Crudely: each bacterium secretes an alkaline substance that neutralises the acid directly around the bacterial cell, allowing it to live and divide. Much more detail is of course available.

I have noted with interest this sentence in your comments that NOT EVERYONE WITH THE BACTERIA GET THE DISEASE. Now my question is this..What actually triggers this dormant BACTERIA in this case to start developing into a complication that would require treatment?

She has studied H. Pylori for years and I have a feeling she has developed a strange sort of affection for them. So her opinions are biased and can't be trusted.......*chuckle*.
