We started looking at a caravan just before Covid hit and then because of Covid and few other bits we held off, then prices went utterly stupid. We are still seeing 2018/2019 used caravans advertised for more then they were listed at new. The market will crash at some point but until then we are staying out.
I am seeing prices starting to soften now . Especially the upmarket expensive motorhomes . They are starting to stick a little on the dealers forecourt. I am looking to change my motorhome and seeing some availability on brand new high value stock which are pre ordered dealer stock. As you say its all about cost to change Mark so swings and roundabouts. My view is the market is turning things are levelling out.
Just upgraded, part X a lunar Venus 500/4 2012 paid £9,995 back in 2013. We upgraded to a Elddis crusader super cyclone 2016 was up for £21,000 with E&P, solar panel and quad movers. We managed to pay £13,250 so didn't loose much at all on our old 2012 Lunar caravan. Plus gained loads of extras and less payload..... 😢😢😢 but love the new Elddis 👍🏻
wonder what kind of work is needed to convert these units to North American 110V, I'm sure all electrical plug boxes need swapping, not too bad, wiring can easily handle 110v as already carries 220v lol. Gennie needs step down to 110v.
@flightcamm I agree. Since current = available power divided by voltage. So to draw the same power from an outlet at a lower voltage, a higher current would be required. But it's not just the power outlets / sockets that would be affected, its also the water heater, space heater, and electric hob. Although it's feasible to run ac circuits/appliances at lower voltage, they will run at a reduced output power. They won't draw the higher current because the circuit resistance hasn't changed. And, if appliances were changed to suit a lower voltage and higher current rating, as you said, the wiring size would likely need to be increased, as well as a change of circuit breakers. 🤔
I think we get the message I counted 12 times that you said keep that ball rolling my girlfriend is a psychologist and she explained it to me just try and relax my friend
Like all your subs I love your enthusiasm for the vans, and the industry. Your dealer perspective is invaluable. Top video.
Thanks 👍

I'm not sure they will ever come back that much but it could happen., 👍
Another great honest vlog Mark, thank you. Cheers Terry
Great video I love looking in the vans xx
Thanks Heather
We are having our caravan serviced on the 19th Sept Mark. Mobile guy out of Rugeley, so we'll pop over to the Gailey branch for a look see.
Great, will see if I am about then 👍

I’ve always change my caravan in October.
I find I get a good price and the one I’m buying is nicely prepared as dealers aren’t rushed.
A lot of people do the same, I think dealers will be keen to do the business this year 👍
I love these types of videos

Thanks Jason, you can still really benefit if you have had current caravan for a while 👍
If possible as a novice who has never done caravaning and might be looking too get into it could you run through the dos and don’t
We will try to do something 👍
Can you buy @thecaravanplace hitch covers? Would love to ‘rep’ them up in Aberdeenshire. 👍🏼
I don't have any to sell at the moment but may have some over winter 👍
Keep that ball rolling
I should have mentioned trying to keep the ball rolling shouldn't I 🙈

I think you could run through a converter power box, but would be fairly easy to swap plug sockets then should be fine. I think lol
It's not the voltage but the current draw that dictates cable CSA. 110v will probably have larger CSA cabling than 230V for a given power drain.

Caravan market crashing😂,have you seen the cost of a foreign holiday? £8k for a week in Costa del crap will buy half a decent van
Eh, 31k for the 1st van
2wks for 2 people jet2 on Kos guaranteed 34degrees heat 1.4k
That's 22 holidays where you dont have to tip your own waste
Yes prices have gone silly to go abroad, especially when you flights get cancelled 😭😭
Market coming down loads over the next year. Give it a few months and people will be giving them away at bargain prices.
It's definitely settled, new has slowed so some good deals to be had. I think by January this may change again. 👍
Of course the prices are coming down. It’s the end of the summer and caravan values are as seasonal as those for motorcycles. Doh!
This is true lol
no no this uk government want rid of towing cars as EVS are crap@@thecaravanplace

Iv not even got a ball 😬
We're popping over to Gailey site on 19th mate. Dog is going to groomers so we've got some time to kill. 👍
