    They are still very expensive for what they are: furniture on wheels. Pitch prices are through the roof hence why people stopped caravanning

      Yes it's true, but everything else is also a lot more expensive, flights, hotels etc. 👍

    I think the biggest problem we all face at the moment is the price of the sites they are all taking the mick even with no hook up they are asking £45 per night i mean come on get real its a field for gods sake in the eighty's we use to pay per van now they want van and per person pathetic

    Me and my partner Sue recently visited your Gailey branch, and was really looked after by Leeza,
    We were extremely impressed with the standards of your caravans, and in particular in this vlog we like the Sprite Major with fixed bed for lets say £15,000 - just under, at your other branch, we are trying to sort our finances out to buy it,..its perfect for what we want,
    We have done our homework/research and highly recommend this company, they are all honest as you can see in this video - and their other vlogs, they won't bullshit you, and do not try to "hard sell"..just a genuine company..!!

    I’ve been thinking of buying another caravan now I’ve got grandkids - currently I go camping solo in my little campervan. However increasingly it’s cheaper for me to go into a hotel. The last time I went off to visit friend in Devon - which admittedly was in the school summer holidays - the cost of a pitch per night was from £60 to £80 a night! My little camper ended up parked in a hotel car park overnight - right on the sea front - whilst I enjoyed a single en suite bedroom, with free entertainment that night, free parking, and free afternoon tea, all for £50 for the night. The hotel even had an excellent indoor swimming pool that I enjoyed. It was a super hotel too. Site owners understandably made hay post Covid, but we have other choices now. They need to recognise that site prices need to come down to more realistic levels, especially sites that basically are offering only a grass pitch, with no extras, otherwise they risk pricing themselves out of the market. Even the club sites aren’t that cheap these days.

    Your prices are great, shame, some C.L sites have gone expensive, just had 3 nights away,& it was £29 just for the electric.
    Good luck Mark, hope you get nice and busy.

    • @thecaravanplace
      @thecaravanplace  9 месяцев назад +1

      Wow, sites need to use pay as you go meters for the electric, but suppose the cost for smaller sites is too much. Something needs to be done though 👍

    • @andrewsuttie3326
      @andrewsuttie3326 9 месяцев назад +1

      The trouble is you are paying commercial tariff for your electricity not the slightly cheaper domestic tariff as sites are classed as commercial businesses.

    Dont think the swift basecamp would be an easy van to keep the floor clean as the doors at the back a lot of pitches are just grass at the back so all the dirt would get trailed in

    Since the credit crunch in 2008/09 the caravan industry has really gone downhill to be fair. You used to have choice previous to those dark couple of years. Swift producing Abbey ( their best seller at the time) Ace, Sprite and of course swift. There was also vanmaster and to a lesser extent carlight serving the more discerning caravanner. Bailey,.coachman, swift and elddis left. I was hoping lunar could rise again but I doubt it. That leaves Adria to challenge the four major manufacturers we have left. Caravan parks have continued to raise prices and introduced electricity metering so their greed will also be their downfall.

    We need to buy a van to use throughout the summer to stay away at golf competitions but with our limited budget we're really wary of wasting our limited funds on a dud...

    • @thecaravanplace
      @thecaravanplace  9 месяцев назад +2

      It is tough to find a good budget van, service history is normally what you need on the older ones, and a recent damp check. 👍

    Cars are also getting more and more economic, which means Less able to tow a caravan.
    Then, there is also the cost of owning a caravan, not just pitch fees but insurance, storage, and repair costs are all racing to the top.

    Always interesting to hear the dealer side of life! Curious to hear your opinion on using Diamond Brite or Paintseal to protect the van? Someone else has suggested that as an alternative given the expense of those two options using Gyeon Wetcoat which is a a DIY product that does a similar job but isn't a permanent fix like the others. Thanks!

    • @thecaravanplace
      @thecaravanplace  9 месяцев назад +1

      I have to say, the ones with the paint protection are always easier to keep clean. So depends on cost and if you think it's worth it. 👍

    Is it buyer remorse. Customers buying post lock down and then after a few trips away just realising it's not them maybe and selling on?

    • @michaelmcleary8566
      @michaelmcleary8566 9 месяцев назад +1

      I'd strongly agree with that. Families desperate for a holiday post covid but can't go abroad so got into caravanning only to find a lack of personal space is a factor.
