Besides that teachers ask the most questions in a exam from a textbook, you cant just thoroughly learn the topics from lectures alone.. textbooks are really intended to teach the topics comprehensively to the reader in order to really grasp the subject.. otherwise, i think that most college students just study from the lectures alone without ever looking into a textbook, in order to just pass the exam without learning stuff.
