As a 19 year old, I will tell you, the fact that there was spontaneous clouds of bubble everywhere made me very happy. I didn’t but a bubble wand, but I’m so glad that parents bought their kids one.
As long as they don't use them inside and make the floor slippery I'm happy to see them. When they are used inside I'm not thrilled. I've nearly fallen a couple of times due to soapy floors
Totally agree. Especially for the kiddos who don’t have one! They would play in our bubbles and it made my daughter so happy to see. Everyone was laughing and having a great time. So cute!
Bubble blowers have been worth it to us for the same reason! My daughter spent an hour waiting for fireworks playing in bubbles with a couple of kids and they were all having a blast!
@@DeMariePulsipher lol funny you mention that! When my daughter was only 1, she thoroughly enjoyed other kid’s bubble wands far more than the actual fireworks! I figured the big “booms” Would distract her but nope! 😂
I agree. We had/have them, but rarely brought them into the lines. I know there's a lot of people that complain about being accosted by bubbles, but I much rather a bubble in my face than a screaming child in line with me for 30, 60, sometimes 90+ minutes. Bubbles are sometimes for everybody's sanity not just parents.
Fun fact: I used to be terrified of roller coasters, but then a kid sitting in front of me was holding a bubble wand on big thunder mountain, and I laughed so hard that now every single roller coaster doesn’t scare me one bit
The fact that those princess dresses are so expensive but are so cheaply made says something about Disney. There’s probably a crazy 500% margin on them.
Plus if you want to be so nice to your kid just get one custom made of sorts, it'll be less cheaply made so no itch factor, or if you're lucky to have a friend who sews pay them to make it instead
Disney balloon story time: I was in line for the shuttle to the park one morning when a cast member was trying to keep us all preoccupied by asking disney related trivia questions and giving some small prizes. Long story short, I answered the last question and won a balloon. Exciting until you realize you're not even in the park yet and you are stuck with a balloon all day!!! So I get on the shuttle, and I just so happen to be seated across a toddler boy and his mom and grandmother. He keeps pointing at the balloon and whispering to his mom. I offer them the balloon. They took it. I did a good deed, and I didn't have to carry a balloon around all day 😂
I wouldn’t have keep it without a child ether 😅 But my son wanted one and then we had it on the stroller … and no, it didn’t bumps in any faces, because while walking I hold the string short or my son was holding the balloon, so it was no problem …
When my parents took me to Disney for my adoption celebration, they got the food plan. For us, it was a no brainer. I was 14 at the time, so I ate a LOT!!!!
Sometimes the food plan is worth it…having a growing teenage boy is one of those times. And I know it’s really, really late, but congratulations on your adoption!
My family once went to Diseny and bought a souvenir popcorn bucket on the first day of our trip, it was great. We would pretty much keep it CONSTANTLY filled so we always had something to snack on. But we knew we wouldn't use it at home, so what did we do? We found a large family walking in to Magic Kingdom on our last day and were like "you're going to be here for a few more days, right? Here, have a popcorn bucket!" Can we make this a thing? Can large families make a point to buy popcorn buckets and then donate them to other large families? Can we keep passing the same bucket along? Spread the love! Share the savings! Could also work with those refillable mugs, but since that goes in your mouth it's a little less sanitary (although bleach is a wonderful thing)
Doesn't have to be large families - I went solo, and on my last day passed on my popcorn bucket to a couple with two kids. That was pre-Cvid, mind you - if we really want to make this a thing, then let's include bringing a tiny bottle of dish soap and passing that along too! Little bottles are *super* cheap at the drugstore and we can just buy one and fill it, put it in a baggie, and toss it in a purse or park bag.
A note if you end up buying a Disney poncho: they can have a tendency to rip. If they do go to any store and tell the cashier that it ripped. They will replace it for free. My family had to buy emergency Disney ponchos and while we did pay way too much we've had about ten trips since and every time one of them rips we get a free replacement which has definitely made up for all the money we initially spent.
Wish I knew this on my last trip. The ponco was 13 bucks and it ripped pretty much immediately. I should bring it with me if I go again and try to exchange it. Was going last year before the disease ruined that idea and already bought better ponchos on clearance for 39 cents.
We had a heavy downpour so all rushed to buy the rain ponchos. One had been ripped before grandson got it on. He pulled too hard to unpop the popper buttons at the neck.
pro tip on the caramel apples from someone who had braces for years: when you buy one ask for a box and if you go out to a table service restaurant in the park/ disney springs/ downtown disney cut it with real utensils there!!
The bubble wand was the one toy my kids Continuously played with! My son is 16 and still brings his bubble wand into the parks. It always makes a crying child feel better and often stops melt downs for little ones while waiting for outdoor shows. I’m a wheelchair user and I use a Velcro straps and I strap it on my chair. Kids love it ❤️
When I was 5 and my parents took me to Disney (with plenty of comfy clothes) I insisted on wearing a full-on princess costume and the matching plastic shoes around the park every single day. I must’ve been super uncomfortable but I was committed to being fabulous😂
same!! when i went to disney when i was 5, i got the princess makeover and wore the dress EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. but i felt so flawless and just loved the diva aesthetic overall 😂
My favorite purchase from our trip was my weighted stitch plush. Yes it was a pain at first but he was such a blessing for my anxiety and feeling overwhelmed.
I remember the part in the movie where Lilo hooks up a stereo to Stitch's teeth, and she could hear the enhanced volume from Stitch's mouth. Hilarious. There was one part where Stitch actually says something in English--he spends most of the movie saying nothing--"Ohana" means you're never alone". The flower lei reinforces the concept of never being alone by welcoming you into the bigger Hawaiian family culture. I learned that concept on my first and only trip to Hawaii back in October '01.
Disney literally looks like nothing but gaudy colors, stress , noise and uncanny horror to me. I genuinely don't get it. I wouldn't pay even 10$ to get in just to be charged for everything else
@@1WEareBUFO1 It's understandable if crowds and theme parks aren't your thing. Plenty of people get overwhelmed and overstimulated while at Disney. Especially impatient parents who are constantly trying to "make the most" of their vacation. Now myself, I've gone to Disney parks my whole life and I love them! They are a beautiful collection of immersive, detailed, unique experiences, rich in story and lore and overflowing with an optimistic happiness. They turn me into an excited little kid again no matter how old I get. To me, these are living places that move and breathe and flow, places like that make me feel alive.
I love my Mickey balloon 😹 As a kid, I was never allowed to get one since my parents knew they are an expensive instant regret item. However, on my girl’s trip after college, my #1 souvenir was my Mickey balloon 😹. I got it at the very end of the night on day 1, carefully deflated it before going home, inflated it at Party City, and when it finally died, I framed the deflated inner Mickey and hung it on my wall 😹😹😹 It has become a fun little joke in my family 😹
When I went to Disney last year, one of my friends wanted a lightsaber really bad. He scheduled an appointment to make one late in the evening, so we’d already finished all the rides and went home immediately after he got it. I’m not going to lie: that thing was awesome and worth every penny. Waiting till the end of the day to get it is definitely the way to go.
When we went in July 2019- my daughter was 4 at the time. My parents bought her an Ariel Bubble Wand. It was one of the greatest purchases that week. She and my son loved it. We turned off the music in crowds. To be able to get smiles in pics the photographer said we need bubbles in this shot and it worked. In the parade - Ariel’s fish came up to her to get bubbles and Ariel waved at her. My daughter’s reaction and son were priceless. My husband packed it in a large ziploc bag on the way home, but luckily it did not leak.
As a star wars fan, the lightsaber building experience was incredible. The only ride we were told you can’t carry your lightsaber onto is rockin rollercoaster, so we just did that before our appointment.
@@shepwillner7507 There are other cast members closer to you who can walk over and assist if your having trouble. I personally had no issues. But I did notice someone who was having some, and the cast member was Very attentive to their issues.
Do the lightsaber blades not collapse? I got a Lightsaber from wherever they were sold when I went in 2008 and the blade collapsed inwards (it was one of the ones that telescoped out when you swung it)
Last time we went to Disney, we gave our daughters (7 and 12 at the time) gift cards and told them they could buy anything they wanted with them, but I suggested that should look for things that they couldn’t get anywhere else. They were very thoughtful with their purchases and the spur of the moment “ooh I want that!” buys (like bubble wands and Barbie-esque dolls) were at a minimum.
I did something very similar. I planned how much I was willing to spend on the kids for souvenirs and then bought target Disney gift cards with the red card so I saved 5% off what I planned to spend....then I told the kids they could use the gift cards for anything they wanted on the trip. (I'd pay for food and rooms, etc, but the souvenirs would either be paid by them or the gift cards.) I also stated they could use the AP discount of 20%. This added a math factor to the entire experience. My daughter was able to come within 4 cents of the gift card value and got the two things she really wanted, instead of constantly asking me for things throughout the trip!
My parents did that for my brother and I when we went on our first trip. I was very careful and had to look at literally everything in every park. Now I know from experience on ANY trip I go on to use this wise tip. It works wonders!
I went to Disney when I was little and my most favourite memory was when my mom let me get the entire Sleeping Beauty costume from the wig/tiara to the plastic heels. We brought it home and I dressed up in it almost everyday. Totally worth it !!! I tell her to this day how I couldn’t believe she kept saying “yeah you can get that”!!!
That fuel rod is the best purchase I’ve ever made at Disney, not only is it nice to have there but I travel a ton and many many airports have kiosks there that are free to swap the battery. Phenomenal company.
@@kioku119 Nike vapor max. Very expensive but my feet felt fine at the end of my trip. I ended up wearing them everyday instead of switching, and I got the waterproof ones so my feet stayed dry. Highly recommend them!
I remember on one of our Disney trips my little sister got an Ariel bubble wand and let me tell you, that bubble wand got SO MUCH use. Once we got home she used it until the music stopped working and the lights stopped flashing 😂 needless to say, we were sick of the song by the end but it made my little siblings happy.
Tip: bring several USPS “Flat rate” boxes with a small roll of packing tape to put the boxes together as you need them. That way if you buy something that is fairly small but too heavy to carry home you can mail it home and not spend a million dollars to do it.
My family never packed me extra clothes for the park so one time I got super wet at some ride at Disney world, my dad didn’t want to leave the park so he got me a dress and girl bottoms. He never said how much it was but I could tell it took a damage to the wallet. You’re so so right about extra clothes in the back pack.
I would not be surprised that Disney did the same thing airports did after 9/11: they probably removed airport lockers to prevent people storing dangerous stuff in them like guns or grenades. That said, I've seen how Universal Studios offers locker service for riders on their rides, such as the one at Hogwarts Castle. Very convenient. Maybe Disney can learn from Universal Studios about convenience as applied to locker service.
One spring they were selling the HH jackets half off and then there was an additional 25% off with AP. A friend of mine got her whole family jackets for $33 each. They lived year round in Alaska at the time and it was the best steal ever.
Yeah I was gonna say "who buys winter jackets from Disney in central Florida?" people who don't live in central Florida and are only there for vacation lol. I used to fly down from Alaska too before I moved to Florida permanently.
For an average tourist, the recommendation about soft serve makes sense. However, for anyone with nut allergies, the soft serve vanilla is a blessing. We have a nut allergy in our family, which means she can't eat anything from a bakery, donut shop or ice cream parlor that has any form of nuts in them - this means nothing from the cases at The Confectionery, various gift shops, the World Showcase bakeries and ice cream shops, The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, etc. The soft serve ice cream is one of the only desserts she can have.
Ye I have a lactose intolerance so the doll whip and goofy candy will be 2 of the snacks I can eat. I cannot eat the items from the bakery either any more- including rice crispy treats.
I went to several disney parks on 2019 as part of my highschool graduation gift and let me tell you, I tried to buy a Powerade and felt completely robbed when they told me what the price for it was.
My fav thing about this videos is AJ’s voice and way to talk, it feels like listening to an old friend or family member. Easy to pay attention during this invaluable information. I love this channel.
Some people have been turning those Oga’s flights into containers for tiny succulents. This is a really cute way to display your cups and actually be using them.
What with the business about not letting people take inflated balloons on planes (I figure the air pressure will make them pop) I have seen people who bought them enjoy them for the day or their trip and then give them to new comers for their kids to enjoy. Of course, that was before Covid, but I guess a little hand sanitizer will work on balloons.
I worked at rockin roller coaster last week and they actually do have a new system to hold your lightsaber for you. so after you wait in line, the attractions cast members will tell you to go through to to gift shop where we essentially check your lightsaber (like checking a coat) and we give you a slip to hold. then after the ride is over, you bring us the slip and we give you your lightsaber back.
One thing I might add to the list: Preferred parking. Yes, you get to park closer but when we went in January we were typically getting parked pretty close to the entrance anyway (since there were no trams running.) I can't imagine that the preferred parking spots were $15 better than where we ended up, and I can think of a lot better uses for that $15.
The most satisfying purchase I have ever made at Disney cost pennies. Literally. We went to Disneyland for the first time a few years back, and I happened to have a coin purse in my bag that was stuffed with years' worth of "pennies are technically money" saving I planned on getting pressed. I am 80,000 years old, and my sister was duly amused when we hit Main Street and I started plunking them into the vintage machines at the Penny Arcade--the old Pinocchio puppet and the kinetoscopes, all the vintage animation feels for genuinely one cent--but you don't stay long on Main Street your first day at the park, and they were forgotten for Fantasy Land fifteen minutes later. The thing is, timing in Disney is crucial. It was the *last* day, when we were waiting around for the night show, that I realized three things: I still had about a buck's worth of unpressed pennies, I was surrounded by antsy kids who were struggling much harder to wait, and we were right next to the Emporium. I asked my sister to save our place and skittered in. There were some kids running around, but none at the penny stations. I pulled out my change purse and started putting bits of it at each station--eight cents here, twelve cents there, just tossing coins down by the slots in "please use me" obviousness. Kids noticed immediately. I did some go-ahead gesturing, and they started lining up. Kids are great at going "Hey look at this thing", and as I was heading out, they were heading in, interacting with these ancient machines that are of middling interest at best on your first day and all-consuming when you are in a state of "Mom, is it time for the fireworks NOW?". It was a happy, distracted swarm, and my sister told me later that there were relieved parents out there finally getting a rest. The fireworks started not too long after that, and it was fantastic. I don't know and will never know what kind of lasting impact those impromptu pennies might have had, but one thing's absolutely for sure--it's the only place in Disney even a dude with the most limited of income can feel like a millionaire. Be good to yourself, be good to kids, party on 🎉❤️🐧
@@babecat2000 Aw hekk, it's a joy to see kids having a good time ❤️ And to go "I AM SPENDING PENNIES IN DISNEYLAND" after three days of going "yeah sure four bucks for a Powerade why not" 😂 Thank you though AW
As a Disney patron, not a big fan of the bubble wands. I know the kids love them, but some how, some way, the bubbles go right into my eyes. Because of that, I become a bubble dancer (head bobbing to avoid the bubbles).
@@chitori1225 as a die hard Cinderella fan I remember meeting Cinderella when I was 5 at Disney…I asked her to break up with him because I called him first.
My wife has a Helly Hansen jacket that we bought in the Norway Pavilion. It was January and we live in the Midwest. It gets chilly in Orlando in January at night and she just wore it home. It was perfect when we got back to our home town. That was 6 years and 2 kids ago and the jacket has held up super well!
I went to Disney when I was a kid ( I'm 32 now ) and I got one of those giant lollipops. I STILL have that sucker, mint in wrapper. If I ate that today, I have no doubt I'd have a new regret to add to that monster 😄
I mean candy extremely rarely spoils so it's probably fine to eat. Just brush afterwards and don't have any other desserts the days you attempt to eat it.
The Mickey balloon is also useful to keep the air conditioner running in your DIsney hotel room just let it float around the room it will trip the motion sensor and the AC stays on 😁
Just for the record, I got the Simba popcorn bucket, and although I loved the popcorn, I honestly spent $20 on Simba just for a photo on splash mountain, absolutely worth it.
That’s probably the best use of that bucket lol. The simba popcorn bucket looks like that photo of the swole cat and every time I saw one that all I could see
I bought the Laila perfume from Norway as a gift to myself after I got my first full time job. I’ve loved the smell of that perfume for most of my life and it was well worth the price.
This video is hysterical 🤣 We have years of plastic "special sippies" from all sorts of locations...and you're 100% right about how often they get used.
Thank u for saying “for your daughter or son” when talking about the princess dresses. Kids should be allowed to express themselves however they want ☺️

New Winner! A Lightning Pass since you already spent $120/day for a ticket, $15/per person/day for Genie Plus, $ 75/day for food and snacks , $500 for a room, $50 each way for an uber to get there from the airport, $20 for a magic band and $400 per person for an airplane ticket. Starts to add up!
@@bosstalk9093 Exactly the problem! Contemporary tower rooms average $850 during some weeks, and the only real benefit is a couple of night time hours at a couple of parks one certain days. You don't even get housekeeping cleaning the room every day! Moderate resorts can be anywhere from $300-$600/night and there are no extras....not even free bus service from the airport after Jan 1. You are better off staying offsite. Bigger rooms and better amenities for the price.
I bought a gift card to match how much I would spend if I had the Disney Dining Plan. I figured this way I pre-paid for my upcoming trip and if I have any leftover it's more shopping money lol
We are from the Midwest, and our family are avid sailers and cross-country skiers. Three years age, we purchased four Helly Hansen jackets and Norway winter caps, for less than the cost of one jacket, at a Passholder pop-up booth at Epcot. Helly Hansen’s breathable sailing jackets, NEVER go on sale anywhere in the real world!
When i was a young kid, my favorite thing i got from a disney park was a light up spinning winnie the pooh wand, after the vacation i carried that thing EVERYWHERE for years lol its been a while since i've been to a disney park but next time i go back hopefully in the near future, this video will help.
Little advice: buy something for blisters BEFORE you step foot in MK! I had beautiful shoes that were perfect for walking, and I STILL got a blister! A tiny pack of blister covers is like NINETEEN BUCKS in the resort gift shops, and it’s only like five bucks at your regular drug store!
Another great tip for staying hydrated: in the state of Florida cups of ice water are free. Not every quick service restaurant offers them, but quite a few do. As long as they have fountain drinks you can get free ice water. The following locations offer it: All Joffrey’s locations Main Street Bakery (Starbucks - Main Street, U.S.A.) Hub Popcorn carts (Main Street, U.S.A. - all other popcorn carts only have bottled waters for purchase) Sunshine Tree Terrace (Adventureland) Westward Ho (Frontierland) Sleepy Hollow (Liberty Square) Storybook Treats (Fantasyland) Friars Nook (Fantasyland) Auntie Gravity’s (Tomorrowland) The Lunching Pad (Tomorrowland)
would love a video on souvenirs that you haven't taken out of your closet/storage/pantry in years! a different take on souvenirs people won't actually use
I display my souvenirs, so her take was odd to me. I have shelves specifically to display things, and also get things to display in my office at work. I’ve already planned where my droid will be in my office. I don’t understand buying souvenirs only to put them in a closet.
The only souvenirs worth displaying are either magnets or lapel pins. The magnets go on my fridge or file cabinet while the lapel pins are displayed on lanyards, hats, and in display bags. If the pins are on lanyards, I have to wonder when or if whether a Cast Member (CM) will approach me to trade a pin. That hasn't happened yet even though the CMs will be wearing many pins on their lanyards or shirts.
Suggestion: before DFB starts production on such a video, I recommend that you consider watching the HGTV show called "Cash in your Attic," which features a History Channel's "American Pickers"-like experience of having people enter a family's home and finding collectibles in your garage, closets, pantries, attics, and basements. Then the show's producers conduct public auctions with actual people bidding on the items, and the family receives the proceeds (the proceeds are probably net of the show's auctioneer fees and other cuts, such as commissions and sales taxes).
@@NicCanDance At least you can buy and take them aboard airplanes. Previously you couldn't do so because TSA considered them to be a prohibited item because it had liquid inside the things. In addition, the USPS didn't allow them to be shipped. Now, of course, both TSA and USPS have relaxed that restriction. Enjoy your snow globes, and I'll do the same for lapel pins. Although I no longer visit WDW, I still enjoy collecting pins wherever I travel; I just don't trade them. OTOH, I wouldn't mind asking a hotel/resort or a cruise line to set up and staff a special booth attended by any pin collector who wants to trade pins.
As the father of autistic children, I can tell you the bubble wands have brought some of the greatest joy for them. I will keep buying them when we go back to the parks again.
Pro Tip- if anyone has any of those Monorail Playsets- spaceship earth, tree of life, haunted mansion, etc.- still in the box and a kid you need to put through college, you're in luck
Question: are the Monorail Playsets actually model railroad sets that work, e.g., lay out the track, put the train on the tracks, and plug in the transformer to control the train? Where do I buy the thing--if it's still available, that is--from Amazon or eBay?
@@shepwillner7507 No transformer...the engine of the monorail has a built in motor. The original ones are likely not working as well as they did when new, but those are the ones that had special extra features such as spaceship earth, the contemporary resort, and other items the monorail could go around or through. There is a monorail track you put together. Search eBay for people selling them.
As soon as I saw the title I thought of my Mickey Ballon we bought to put on the stroller. It wacked into us and other guests constantly. I was so happy when it popped until I learned that disney would replace it for free and my kids insisted.
Still waiting on the Disney dining plan to come back. It’s worth it for us because lobster and ribeye every night is usually what my husband and I gravitate towards lol
I remember the souvenirs that stick out from Disney trips are my autograph book, a Jasmine outfit, the bead jewelry dad picked from when I was 7, and then a lovely kimono from Epcot Japan as a teenager. Also countless smashed pennies lol.
Yes, I'm the guy who bought the HH rain parka in Norway. In my defense, I couldn't find my size online and had been looking diligently. Lo and behold, they had several at Epcot and I really wanted it. So, at the end of the evening, I bought it and stuffed it into my backpack before catching the skyliner. My wife and I had drove down in my big truck, so it took up little space and it has served me well since buying it last November. Plus, I have the memory of Epcot attached to it. Priceless ✌🙂
I am going to Disney in 30 days with my 5 year old daughter...I have ptrpurchased stuff and she will get a "Princess Prize" every day...and I'm sure I have spent less than if bought in the parks!! So excited!!! 😀
My mom did the same thing for my sister and I on our first big Disney trip! I have fond memories of waking up to “presents from Mickey” everyday. Have a great trip.
Building my own lightsaber is the best experience I've ever had at Disney. It comes with a nice carrying case with a strap, and I didn't have any issue taking it on rides. I think Rock'n Rollercoaster is the only ride you can't take it on. It's long, but slim and easily fits between your legs or by your feet on most rides. We did schedule our builds (both lightsaber and droid) for the 2nd half of the day so we wouldn't have to carry it around all day. I recommend making this one of the first things you do in Galaxy's Edge, as the Droid has interactions in the land and the cast will react to your lightsaber, making the experience extra special. We got the backpack for the Droid and it was no more cumbersome than any other backpack.
On my latest trip, I started with Ooga's Cantin for breakfast (bought the flight tray), then hit the droid depot next and built 3 droids, then we ran around the park and did all the rides. I had planned on these ahead of time, so I got short bungee cords on a carabiners and a large carabiner with foam covered handle to help carry them around. It was hard getting on and off the rides, and I ended up with a dozen bruises on my legs. I do use each regularly, but I wish I would have been able to wait til the end of the day to get them. I had brought a huge checked bag just for those 4 items and I just used clothes around each when packing to go home. Planning a head is extremely important.
As you said, planning is everything. I haven't been to GE yet but a few common sense ideas come to mind. Use an ultralight portable grocery basket for your heavier, bulkier items including Dok's lightsabers. Have a backpack that is built to carry fishing poles/rifles on the side. Bungee cord your droid/s to the basket handle, even if it's in the box.
I had a very rainy day at Epcot and i recommend just wearing crocs or slides, they feel way better than soaked shoes if it’s gonna rain. Just bring it in your car to the park just in case
Something else they used to do but idk if they still do is they could hold stuff you buy at the front of the park so that you can pick it up on your way out, I remember my dad used to use this service when I was younger
Your son runs around in high heels in Disney? I see there as a total plus! You’ll never have to worry about how your grandchildren will afford college 😉 more power to him!
Having an actual toy from Disney world makes the visit so much more special! We allow our daughters to choose 1 toy. They look forward to it and they enjoy and value it a lot more than a bunch of little things.
My family has done souvenir shopping on the last day. That way we make absolutely sure that we actually want the thing we saw on day one! Stops any impulse and regret buying!
I've only been to Eurodisney once and now I'm happy that I only bought stuff I could carry and constantly use. I got souvenir pins (put them on my denim jacket), pretty Cinderella ring, a Nightmare Before Christmas cereal bowl and an Alice in Wonderland - teapot. The last two were kinda hard to carry, but I use them almost daily.
The one big souvenir we got last time we went to Disneyland was one of those decorative popcorn containers. Thankfully it doubled as a container for smaller things once we managed to clean it. (also our hotel gave us lunch bags with goodies to survive a day in the park, so it was super convenient not having to pay for too many overpriced snacks!)
(This is in California) If I'm remembering correctly, the hotel is called "Grand Legacy at the Park", and the snack bag had water, crackers, an apple, and a granola bar... I think. So, it wasn't like, a whole lot, but each person got one baggie, and it did help.
4 adults over the age of 21.. the dining plan was perfect. We drank alcohol pretty much with every meal including our quick service meals and only had like 2 snacks left over since we used those mainly for our breakfast.
I have a HH jacket from Norway! :). I bought it 25 years ago when I was a cast member while in high school. Disney had cast member perks during Christmas where we would get 50% off merchandise anywhere for a day. It’s a lighter weight jacket that I still have and use lol. I used the discount there and then went to pick up my brother some Ralph Lauren merch being sold at the Grand Floridian
I'm glad to see that Disney treats its CMs well with such great perks. Question: how did you handle meal times? Does Disney give you ample time for snack, bathroom ,or meal breaks before returning to work or is it stingy about when and how you handle breaks?
@@shepwillner7507 it was 25 years ago; I’m sure things have changed since then. For us Orlando kids, I didn’t have a car, so they would pick us up at the high school on Saturday and Sunday mornings paying for a school system bus to drive us there and back. I would work 2, 10 hour shifts (20 hr a week to get part-time status) with an hour lunch break. Each park had a subsidized food location. I worked there throughout high school and college, and my mother worked there for a number of years as well
When I was around 5, my family took a trip to Disney. They actually took my little sister and I to the Boutique place and it’s not a complete ripoff like mentioned. Sure, it’s more pricy and the money is a lot more than what it’s worth, but it was truly a fun experience. I don’t remember much of it all except for seeing photos. It may be expensive, but I can’t express how happy my family looked in the photos. It created lots of memories with my family. They’ve done so much for me. If you have a little one, I’d recommend going. It’s an experience that you’ll never forget. :)
Back in 2011, when I visited the Parks, my mother gave me a beautifull Cinderella Castle Playcet, that nearly gave my dad a hearth attack, because of it's huge box and difficult to carry to the plane (we're foreigners, so buying on the internet was not an option). Mom threw away the box, fitted the Castle and it's few pieces neatly in one of our bags, and well, problem solved!
A tip for all parks: if you plan on buying merchandise, get it at the end of the day if you can. That way you don't have to carry it around and you can even shop at some stores after the park closes to get maximum ride time.
We were just finishing packing for Disney today! I was watching this video and I would have 100% left our water bottles in the dishwasher had you not mentioned it
i’ll just say i ALWAYS get the dining plan for my kids. They’re teens so we split up from time to time or sometimes r in completely different parks and i can make sure they have food when they need it without giving them free range of my card. Works well for my family.
Aj, thank you for another fun video. Two things I don't think you mentioned... Water - water is free at most dining locations. Just ask a cast member for a cup of water. It's especially important to stay hydrated in the fl heat and you can get free water just about everywhere in any park. Dining plan - I agree that in most cases you end up paying more than out of pocket BUT in the past, Disney has included the dining plan for free or at reduced costs and that is when it can save you a ton of money even if you don't use all the credits. Now this was pre covid so who knows if they are going to offer dining at this type of discount in the future but definitely something to look for in your future vacations. Free/reduced dining plans were usually offered during Disney's 'slow seasons' Jan- feb and aug-sept
When I was a kid I wore sneakers to AK, rode Kali River Rapids, soaked my socks early in the day, walked around all day with wet socks, got severely wrinkled feet to the point it was excruciatingly painful to walk on. Definitely bring a change of clothes for you and your kids ESPECIALLY socks. I still shudder at the thought Additionally I got those pixie sticks everywhere we went when I was a kid and LOVED them. XD
Oh that exact thing happened to my son many years ago from that ride! By the end of the day he couldn’t walk back to the car. I went to Walmart and hoped antifungal spray might help. Sure enough next morning his feet were back to normal. We’re now very mindful of keeping feet dry.
Bring flip flops in a garbage bag and put it in your backpack or bag. Change shoes before ride (putting the socks and shoes in the garbage bag). Let feet and flip flops dry after ride and then change back into your sneaks. I loathe wet feet.
I work at a touristy place and those bubble wands are awful!! We sell them for $25 each and they are sooo cheap!!! They break easily, leak, and the bubbles always end up clogging at the top and making a sticky mess if they're on for more than 5 minutes. We have to keep them on so I'm constantly wiping them down when the bubbles eventually clog and getting all sticky. They're so annoying 😭
My sister bought that bubble wand for my 1 year old when she went to Disney World. My kids have thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of toys. That wand is the most used toy she’s ever had. A year later, it’s still her favorite. I definitely recommend.
I would definitely recommend buying a fuel rod! My family bought one when we went a few weeks ago and it saved us from not having dead phones multiple times! We don’t have any swap places where we live, but you can charge it at home if you have an android charger.
For 14:00, I have to say HH coats are genuinely pretty decent coats if you live in the Northeast USA. HH coats they offer are (shockingly) decently priced compared to what HH prices them for on their website. Mom bought one of these coats in 2016 and has loved it since
for any bulky items such as lightsaber you can do package holds at first order cargo at SWGE, Pioneer in frontierland, and stroller parking by the entrance for disneyland. when purchase anything at any of the parks ask a cast member where you can do a package hold. package holds are free to do for the entire day. just be sure to have the receipt and pick it up before the park closes.
I visited Disneyland in 2019, unaware of the existence, much less the ubiquity, of Disney pins. They seemed like perfect souvenirs and gifts, since they were lightweight and weren't going to end up gathering dust on shelves or cupboards. Then came the upselling, cross-selling and the discovery of the 'need' to have complete sets and rare variants, and the pins' presence all over the parks. i now realise that they're still a good buy in principle, but you've got to have the blinkers on to avoid getting swept away in a craze.
I can attest to the Galaxy’s Edge merch. My husband and I went and had a rancor flight, a couple small things from the toy emporium, 2 lightsabers and 2 droids and it was ridiculous trying to carry them around the park 😂.
Did you ask the shop(s) to box up the items and send them to your hotel? Doing so would have saved you the trouble of shlepping the stuff around the parks.
@@shepwillner7507 lol no we did the droids and the sabers at the end of the night so we were pretty much leaving anyways. So it seemed silly to have them ship it to the room since we were going there anyways. We pretty much just stopped to take some pictures at night and stuff on the way back to the skyway.
For the lightsabers you can leave them with one of the shops... I had to leave mine at the store outside of Indiana Jones... I just left it with them, got a receipt and picked it up at the end of the day
If you don’t live near the parks and want to go to savi’s workshop to build a light saber, you can have it shipped directly home so that your hands are free after your building experience. It costs a little extra (depends where shipping to) but so worth it if you want your hands free. And those sabers are definitely heavy. Ask the people at Savi’s and they can def help direct you to the closest place to ship stuff home.
I just wanna say thank you for making this video. I'm planning a trip to Disney soon and I haven't been there in over a decade, so I was really relieved to find this 😅🙏
My father bought DVC in 1998.. and it was done by 2001.. we went back to Disney world again once and the other he sold it for a timeshare in Whistler BC for summer skiing. Which was amazing! But when my parents divorced.. the dvc had to go
I once owned a timeshare in the Bahamas. One of the biggest mistakes I ever made. I was glad when the membership expired 7 years ago. Lesson learned: Timeshares are really for people who will actually use them or exchange their rooms or weeks for other desirable vacation times.
Yes, it is definitely a time share. I own a timeshare in Anaheim that is not DVC but is 2 (rather large) blocks away from Dineyland. While the cost may seem like a deal over time, there are so many hoops to jump through in booking that timeshares are really not such a great deal. If I had it to do over again, I would not have bought.
I once got a wrong number call about someone who had bought a timeshare. I responded to the question about it with "I'm 15" and the person on the other end paused for a second, said "Don't ever buy a timeshare." and hung up
Speaking for myself. I will build a lightsaber then happily skip every ride for the rest of the day. I'll be shopping for lightsaber crystals if you need me.
We went to a nearby Walmart to get groceries and Disney souvenirs for family and friends. They carried just about everything that the Disney stores did for a fraction of the cost. Tshirts for adults were about 10 and coffee mugs about 4-5$. Same ones at Disney ran about 25$ for shirt and 12$ for coffee mug. Friends and family had no idea it actually came from Walmart and not an actual Disney store.
As a 19 year old, I will tell you, the fact that there was spontaneous clouds of bubble everywhere made me very happy. I didn’t but a bubble wand, but I’m so glad that parents bought their kids one.
I'm autistic and i would probably love having a bubble wand :)
@@thunderbirdsspidermanfan6543 as an autistic watching the kids use the bubble wands was so fun when i was at disney
My 4yo twins both wanted the bubble wands. We are still using them at home. I don't regret the purchase 😂
As long as they don't use them inside and make the floor slippery I'm happy to see them. When they are used inside I'm not thrilled. I've nearly fallen a couple of times due to soapy floors
My son is autistic and best thing we bought. He absolutely loves it to this day
Waiting in line near someone that had a bubble wand always made the wait significantly better
I figured the big “booms”
Would distract her but nope! 😂
@@paigeywaigey96 that is so cute! All the kids love the bubbles!
If Pavlov had only had a bubble wand, the world would be a happier place.
we have the same last name
ah psychology.That's pretty sweet
I think ive been cured just thinking about it 🤣🤣 no more fear
Same, but only for the first part lol
The fact that those princess dresses are so expensive but are so cheaply made says something about Disney. There’s probably a crazy 500% margin on them.
Same with just about anything at Disney (or really any place that has a tourist attraction).
Disney likes giving itself importance
More like 5000
Seriously, get some legitimate clothing from the people who make MoMoObrian's vids.
Plus if you want to be so nice to your kid just get one custom made of sorts, it'll be less cheaply made so no itch factor, or if you're lucky to have a friend who sews pay them to make it instead
Disney balloon story time:
I was in line for the shuttle to the park one morning when a cast member was trying to keep us all preoccupied by asking disney related trivia questions and giving some small prizes.
I did a good deed, and I didn't have to carry a balloon around all day 😂
Imagine if you kept the balloon for yourself and the mom was a Karen. You potentially avoided a disaster.
I wouldn’t have keep it without a child ether 😅
But my son wanted one and then we had it on the stroller … and no, it didn’t bumps in any faces, because while walking I hold the string short or my son was holding the balloon, so it was no problem …
If you hadn't offered it my mind went to having a Karen moment from the kids mom lol I watch and read too reddit
When my parents took me to Disney for my adoption celebration, they got the food plan. For us, it was a no brainer. I was 14 at the time, so I ate a LOT!!!!
Old proverb: "If you think that something is a 'no brainer', it means you have no brain"
@@djm5687 …dad? Is that you?!
Sometimes the food plan is worth it…having a growing teenage boy is one of those times. And I know it’s really, really late, but congratulations on your adoption!
The food place in pop century was great you should try some of its food
Congratulations on your adoption:)
Here, have a popcorn bucket!"
Can we make this a thing? Can large families make a point to buy popcorn buckets and then donate them to other large families? Can we keep passing the same bucket along? Spread the love! Share the savings! Could also work with those refillable mugs, but since that goes in your mouth it's a little less sanitary (although bleach is a wonderful thing)
That’s a really great idea!
That was a really kind gesture!
@@CritterKeeper01 Great idea! And yeah, mine was pre-plague too.
Great idea
This is not true, i asked last time 2019 pre covid, and they say they don't do that, only if it's purchased recently
We brought cheap ones that packet away into my cargo shorts, think we got 50 for 10, use and throw, although I wouldn't do that next time
We had a heavy downpour so all rushed to buy the rain ponchos. One had been ripped before grandson got it on. He pulled too hard to unpop the popper buttons at the neck.
..mmm well, they only cost 17 cents to make and have always ripped easily.
pro tip on the caramel apples from someone who had braces for years: when you buy one ask for a box and if you go out to a table service restaurant in the park/ disney springs/ downtown disney cut it with real utensils there!!
or don't get one in the first place if it's such a burden
The bubble wand was the one toy my kids Continuously played with! My son is 16 and still brings his bubble wand into the parks. It always makes a crying child feel better and often stops melt downs for little ones while waiting for outdoor shows. I’m a wheelchair user and I use a Velcro straps and I strap it on my chair. Kids love it ❤️
Your son sounds like an angel that's awesome
When I was 5 and my parents took me to Disney (with plenty of comfy clothes) I insisted on wearing a full-on princess costume and the matching plastic shoes around the park every single day. I must’ve been super uncomfortable but I was committed to being fabulous😂
I absolutely love this
Literally same 🤣
Fashion when you are small in Disney is everything

oh my mom fully packed a different princess dress for me every day as a kid and I LIVED for it!!
THE TEAL ARIEL ONES WITH THE FUZZY EMBLEMS WERE MY HOLY GRAIL!!!!!!!!!

It's understandable if crowds and theme parks aren't your thing.

My family also wouldn't let me get balloons as a kid, and now I save them as well, lol.

Thiiis. My parents never let me get the mickey balloons. 😏 well, i went last week and got myself one.
Idk about Disney World, but you can ask for a store or the stroller rental to hold merchandise including lightsabers for you and it’s free…

I "made" my daughter buy one. It was the most entertaining thing.
I wanna hang out with your family then cause bubbles are the best thing about the parks!
As a star wars fan, the lightsaber building experience was incredible. The only ride we were told you can’t carry your lightsaber onto is rockin rollercoaster, so we just did that before our appointment.

Last time we went to Disney, we gave our daughters (7 and 12 at the time) gift cards and told them they could buy anything they wanted with them, but I suggested that should look for things that they couldn’t get anywhere else. They were very thoughtful with their purchases and the spur of the moment “ooh I want that!” buys (like bubble wands and Barbie-esque dolls) were at a minimum.
that’s actually a really great exercise to teach finances
That is so smart I was thinking the same thing while watching this!!
My parents did that for my brother and I when we went on our first trip. I was very careful and had to look at literally everything in every park. Now I know from experience on ANY trip I go on to use this wise tip. It works wonders!
I have my own money and I always have those “oooh I want that” moments. I’m 26 and my mom still won’t let me get them.
If I've learned anything from watching these videos, it's that NOBODY should be wearing high heels in the parks.
I used to wear HUGE high heel boots to Disneyland, but not so much at Disneyworld! LOTS more walking!
Even in sneakers my feat just pretty much gave out on me by the end of day everyday. Maybe exercize in prep ; p
@@kioku119 Nike vapor max. Very expensive but my feet felt fine at the end of my trip. I ended up wearing them everyday instead of switching, and I got the waterproof ones so my feet stayed dry. Highly recommend them!
Exactly! Wear comfortable shoes if you know you will walk a lot.

I remember on one of our Disney trips my little sister got an Ariel bubble wand and let me tell you, that bubble wand got SO MUCH use.
Its weird to me that the major rides don’t have some kind of locker /coat room system where you could just pay to store your stuff
Universal studios keeps lockers at all of the rides. You pay for a card and just swipe the locker when you get it

Ditto for the Lays chips when your kids can’t eat gluten or corn - that nixes the pretzels and popcorn when they want a salty snack. 😁
I can't eat fresh strawberries so it can be limited for me
A lot of the snacks are the vegan option too. Especially when and out of country tourist it's hard to bring your own if you don't have a car.

My boyfriend bought me a balloon. I carried it around for about an hour before it started to annoy me so I took a pic with it and gave it to a child 🤣
I worked at rockin roller coaster last week and they actually do have a new system to hold your lightsaber for you. so after you wait in line,
the attractions cast members will tell you to go through to to gift shop where we essentially check your lightsaber (like checking a coat) and we give you a slip to hold. then after the ride is over, you bring us the slip and we give you your lightsaber back.
Totally
Be good to yourself, be good to kids, party on 🎉❤️🐧
That was so sweet of you.

I used to sell HH gear and they have some really great stuff. First time I saw it in Norway I was surprised to see it there.
I have a jacket from HH too! 3 years old, still going strong.
Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking about getting one of the norway coats
I bought one too, and it's genuinely one of my favorite coats.
The Mickey balloon is also useful to keep the air conditioner running in your DIsney hotel room just let it float around the room it will trip the motion sensor and the AC stays on 😁
that is really flipping smart!
Thats a great idea, thinking outside the box for sure Russell! Tyty
Same , treated myself when they had a perfume and lotion special , I still use both all the time and it smells so beautiful and reminds me of my trip!
My mom bought a couple bottles because the perfume's creator (Geir Ness?) was there signing them.

I enjoyed MaxPass at Disneyland but this Disney Genie Plus Service is taking everything great from MaxPass and ruining it :/
500$ for a room? I live in Europe and for 500 bucks you can get high-end luxury suits in 5 star hotels. Crazy prices at DW
And with all that cash piling up in Disney's coffers, you wonder why its stock price is still at $180+ change.

The following locations offer it:
All Joffrey’s locations
Main Street Bakery (Starbucks - Main Street, U.S.A.)
Hub Popcorn carts (Main Street, U.S.A. - all other popcorn carts only have bottled waters for purchase)
Sunshine Tree Terrace (Adventureland)
Westward Ho (Frontierland)
Sleepy Hollow (Liberty Square)
Storybook Treats (Fantasyland)
Friars Nook (Fantasyland)
Auntie Gravity’s (Tomorrowland)
The Lunching Pad (Tomorrowland)
Just be careful, the water might make you sick if you're from out of state or another country.

would love a video on souvenirs that you haven't taken out of your closet/storage/pantry in years! a different take on souvenirs people won't actually use
@@shepwillner7507 in your opinion. I don’t collect magnets or pins. I collect and display snow globes, and also display my ears and other souvenirs.
I really stand by the Dining Plan. I think especially for package holidays for non-US citizens it makes life much, much easier!

This is genius! And you can still add in smaller purchases and avoid the huge items.
Wow have a great time 😊
Great idea!! My boys are 7 & 12 but my bff will benefit from this idea when she takes her little girls.
My mom did the same thing for my sister and I on our first big Disney trip! I have fond memories of waking up to “presents from Mickey” everyday. Have a great trip.
That’s a great idea!
Hello
I had a very rainy day at Epcot and i recommend just wearing crocs or slides, they feel way better than soaked shoes if it’s gonna rain. Just bring it in your car to the park just in case
Big gifts are a pain to carry around, HOWEVER, Disney DOES offer shipping to one’s home.
They really know how to make buying lots of items easy.
Something else they used to do but idk if they still do is they could hold stuff you buy at the front of the park so that you can pick it up on your way out, I remember my dad used to use this service when I was younger
As somone with a son who inexplicable loves those horrid plastic character shoes thank you for acknowledging him 🤣

Having an actual toy from Disney world makes the visit so much more special! We allow our daughters to choose 1 toy. They look forward to it and they enjoy and value it a lot more than a bunch of little things.
I’ve always told myself that if I make it in this world, I’m buying a Norway sweater.
Idk who buys them, but it’s my goal haha
I bought one 16 years ago. It still is super nice as I wash in cold and dry flat. I live in Oregon.
What hotel?
What hotel was that if you don't mind me asking?

Ikkk it was so refreshing to hear!
This was a great comprehensive list. It was actually a great list of what to pack for Disney as to not get caught having to buy on property. Thanks!
And at the airports they have tons of Disney things.
We were just finishing packing for Disney today! I was watching this video and I would have 100% left our water bottles in the dishwasher had you not mentioned it
My wife bought one of the Mickey wind breakers at the Norway area…it’s become her favorite jacket for the last 2 years now, so we lucked out 😁
i’ll just say i ALWAYS get the dining plan for my kids.
I still shudder at the thought
Additionally I got those pixie sticks everywhere we went when I was a kid and LOVED them. XD
I did the same thing! Started off my vacation with wet socks = blisters! Noooooooo!!!
Pro-tip: Bring slippers and take off your shoes and socks before you enter water rides
May as well add Genie+ to this list.

We rented a locker so we could store the stuff from Oga's during the day. Worth the extra expense since the only time we could get in was 10:30am.
Lockers in theme parks are life saviors. Totally worth the extra expense
I'm planning a trip to Disney soon and I haven't been there in over a decade, so I was really relieved to find this 😅🙏
DVC is not “like a timeshare”. It is the literal definition of a timeshare 😂
I think my best tip for balloons (in normal times) would be to give your balloon to another family at the end of your trip. 😀
Cute idea!
Trust me, the bibbeti bobbety boutique was such an amazing experience, im 14 and still remember the magic from when i was 8, it was really amazing
