I’m a 65 year old and still manage 30,000+ step, multi-park, rope drop to good-night-kiss, 4 days in a row visits. Here’s a few hints I use… 1. Line yoga - while waiting in the many lines, I stretch and do isotonic exercises. It looks weird but it keeps my body working. 2. Durable poncho - instead of the flimsy cheap poncho, I have a coated nylon one that still packs down small but is strong enough to give it a good shake out before stashing it away. 3. Cooling clothes- Columbia makes shirts, arm covers and cooling clothes from a treated material called OmniFreeze which drops in temperature when wet. It doesn’t rely on evaporative cooling. It’s also sun protection. It doesn’t get that soggy feeling and remains comfortable after getting stuck in the rain. And Columbia has a store in Disney Springs. 4. Toe socks - to keep the toes from rubbing against each other causing blisters, I switch to socks that have individual toes (foot gloves). I found them in the Japanese store in EPCOT. 5. Bubble wrap and hard sided food savers. For days when I’m buying souvenirs, a small piece of bubble wrap and food container protects my treasures. 6. Extra hair ties, small clips and lanyard - great for attaching loose objects, compacting wet ponchos, keeping Magic Band from coming off, and keeping hand sanitizer handy. GOOD LUCK on your next visit
I am 67 years old and could have written this comment. I would add: wear Hoka Bondi shoes. Best ever. Also, i don’t do flimsy ponchos because they don’t fit over my backpack. Plus, we don’t need more disposable plastics in this world.
64 and ditto to all the above! I generally outdo my adult kids. They're whining to go back to the hotel when the crowds are finally dropping after last show/parade, etc. To me, that's time to run and hit as many rides as possible!
44 here and still going strong, I can only afford WDW vacations every 2 years, so I have to make it count, going rope drop to fireworks non stop. Thank you for the advise, I hope I can get to 65 still going as you do.
Your videos are always bittersweet for me. For various reasons I don’t expect to ever be able to go again. On the other hand I have been twice so you bring back good memories. Also, it’s nice to dream. Thank you for all that you do.
Have you guys thought about offering the audio of your videos as a podcast? I love listening to your voice and would seriously just listen to these as a podcast
Last time I went to Disney during the summer, when it rains every day, I took cheap, flimsy, 99 cent ponchos from the camping supply section of Walmart. Took up almost no space in my bag and I just brought 1 for each day of my trip and threw them away after using them so I didn’t have to mess around with a wet poncho. Worked great and I had a couple left over at the end.
We did the opposite and it works equally well: I pre-bought posh ponchos for $15 or so each, the ones that come with their own storage pouch. And a cool pattern too. Lots of jealous looks when we walk about in the posh ponchos. Alternatively, camping with scouts as a leader, I always bring a multipack of the cheapo ones. Both work.
I got those too. Then I took them out of my bag for some reason. So of course it downpoured when we were at Epcot and I got the Disney over priced ones 😂
Instead of ponchos I put 2-3 compact umbrellas in the outside side pockets of my backpack. Lot less hassle than ponchos except that you’ll likely have your bag searched at the gate when entering the park. Plus the umbrellas can be used for shade from the sun while waiting for a parade. Also a long narrow camera backpack is really great for parks because it’s easy to fit on rides, holds plenty of stuff, and doesn’t bump into everything you walk past.
AJ thank you for keeping the vlogs upbeat, funny, and enjoyable to watch. I like how you let your personality shine throwing in ad libs and personal experience even laughing at yourself in the vlogs.
I agree with the indoor attraction during the day; Philharmagic, Carousel of Progress, Enchanted Tiki Room, For the First time in Forever, any indoor show, just something to get out of the sun with some AC.
14th Hard Lesson: sometimes YOU are the villain of the fairytale. We get it, it's hot, it's busy, that last minute downtime happens, your kid or other party member throws your meticulously crafted park plan out of wonk, this is not your excuse to go full hades on them or the nearest cast member. Take time to breathe, to relax, and understand that bumps in the road happen.
I have a flat water flask for my park days and I love it but it’s not insulated. It fits in my bag better. I also take a kitchen sponge, cut it into 6-8 pieces, drizzle some dish soap on the pieces and put it in a ziplock bag so I don’t need to pack a bottle of soap
Early hours or late night, choose one, not both. (For my family, early hours. Actually early early hours, if it says 8:30, get there on the first bus going at 7:157:30 with muffin and coffee to go in hand. We got on all toy story land before 9am that way.)
For crowds - August = Europe still being out of school/office. In the UK for example school doesnt go back until the start of september and mid February is also when schools in the UK have a break for a week or 2!
Really good information. Thank you. A person has to be a big Disney World fan to know all this (plus lots more inconveniences) and still want to go there.
I turn my wet poncho inside out so most of the water is contained on the inside and the dry parts stay mostly dry for the next time. It worked pretty well.
Three weeks until my family and I go to Disney. I purchase a refillable mug, and bring a couple that close tightly. I buy numerous dollar store ponchos, due to the fact that it seems to rain most afternoons. My cooling towels are ready.
Would yall possible be able to make a video of all the construction and future projects for Disneyland as well?? Me and my husband are going in a few months and would love to know what to expect!! ❤❤ I’ve been obsessed with your channel for so long!
The best souvenir based on practicality and not hype is a Hollywood Tower Hotel robe (will set you back almost $100) in the souvenir shop at Tower of Terror. The one I currently wear has lasted almost 10 years (including being almost my uniform during the confinement), and it is still going strong.
Here's a tip I learned! Buy a flat square travel water bottle. They tend to be small and, because they are flat, they fit nicely in your lounge fly and feel comfortable on your back =)
Would y’all possibly be able to do an update on Disneyland and all the construction that’s about to go on there? My husband and I are going in a few months and would love to know what to expect. I appreciate your channel so much and I’m always excited to watch every day❤❤❤
I went in 2022 and the hardest lesson was learning there's no where to put your stuff when you get on a ride. No cubbies which I get now as you are sent out a different direction. Literally had to put my droid at my feet while riding rockin rollercoaster and they wished me best of luck. This was so weird after having been to Universal and you aren't allowed a single object on your person before getting on the roller coaster and there are lockers at the entrance to the ride.
We were there in May, we had all of these night time plans but were too tired most nights, lol. We did stay hydrated though. The water spots have good water but not cold. We took to filling our bottles with ice in the morning and then filling etc. Even with refills, the right insulated bottle kept our water with ice and cold until mid afternoon.
Huge props to you, A.J for honoring the Great Movie Ride. I'm still devastated they got rid of that attraction. The Great Movie Ride was the reason they built that park. Yes, MGM Studios was arranged and built mostly for "The Great Movie Ride" which was originally going in Epcot before more movies were planned to be in it. The Mickey and Minnie Railway looks like a cute ride that's fun but it does NOT belong in that location. It doesn't make any sense in a Chinese Theatre with that architecture, and it really fits in better in The Magic Kingdom.
I thought we were done with Disney World, but my son’s High School band went there last April. He and his friends went off by himself leaving my wife and me to ourselves. A few observations related to the video: 1. Eye glass cases can set off security alerts as well. 2. Smugglers’ Run is not for people with bad backs either. 3. Backpacks usually have a side pouch for water bottles, but then you have to put the backpack someplace when on attractions. 4. Usually for our only souvenir, we always buy a Christmas ornament, but none of them looked any good this year. I have bought bubble blowers in the past to use with my students, but they never last long. 5. As basically a middle aged couple without a child, we were able to see new attractions and eat a new places This year that we haven’t done in the past. 6. End of April was still crowded by not as much as March.
Went for 2 weeks during the summer and packed ponchos. Never touched them lol... but I have been in Disney and got caught in a random last minute hurricane so it's worth it
As usual, this video was spot on. There is no way I'm going to admit to how many of these lessons I have learned the hard way! 🤣 I still remember the 4 parks in a day challenge and close to 40K step days. I'm looking forward to hearing the DFB take on the new Lightening Lane Multi Pass starting on July 24th. I think Disney might have actually listened to some of the Genie+ feedback.
Oh my goodness you should absolutely make a christmas greeting card wall tree with your washi tape!! I am far too nostalgic to throw away any of my old christmas greeting cards, so i make a washi tape tree to display them every year and I always get a ridiculous amount of compliments on it!! °○°
I'm 70 and learned the hard way that I am not as young as I used to be when my son had to help me out of the Matterhorn ride last December. It was embarrassing. I am going as a solo in Sept, so I may have to skip Space Mountain. LOL!
I’m 71, been extra active whole life, just keep moving. It actually takes only 5 minutes a day once or twice to keep flexible, just do the twists at the waist, bend to the right, left. Do your arms and legs, don’t need to do a lot just 5 or 10 when you remember. I like morning best. It helps to keep you from hurting something when you’re not used to moving.
I just got back last week communicore was dead but a good place to cool off. Moana water was down for a while but kinda opened so we got to experience a lil And my favorite snack/drink was the minute maid strawberry flavor which is all but gone. Only found it in Hollywood studios...i was sad lol
I have 137 days to go. I’m hoping Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is running semi smoothly. lol. Last year, I went back to MK at night hoping to ride the Peoplemover, but that was down. People were stuck. I waited awhile, but it didn’t seem like it was going to reopen. The Peoplemover at night hits differently. Still my favorite ride. 👍🏻
😂yess im not as young as I use to be, do you have a video for those who wont be riding anything? Like what shows to see and parts of the park to visit?
I learned the hard way that shows could be canceled if it was raining. I live in Qatar and flew 16 hours to attend the Halloween party in Magic Kingdom, but I couldn’t catch a single parade. Every show was modified to the minimum because of the rain.
#1 BIGGEST hard lesson/lost memory: The original rain-forest in the Polynesian Resort lobby. We went when it first opened, and there is the _greatest_ picture ever taken of my sister & I as little kids, perched together on a bench in front of that lobby feature. My sister & I always said we would go back one day and re-stage that picture.... but the bench, the forest & waterfall are all gone. Then they ruined the whole resort by erecting that monstrosity "Polynesian DVC Island Tower (of terror).
I recently learned that the week before Mother's Day is not a good time to go. I swear everyone from Great Britain was there. Wait times were 75 minutes to 120 minutes for some rides and we wasted our money on Geni Pass. We only got lucky one time a day to get a ride we really wanted to get. Summer also hit a lot sooner than it was supposed to. Temps hit 101 the first day and stayed around 95+ the other 3 days. On another note, people are inconsiderate and do not know proper walking etiquette. People walk like they own the park and you need to move out off their way. Just a warning for those who haven't gone to Disney World. Outside of those few issue we enjoyed our time and made the most of it. However, we did bring home an unwanted souvenir, Cough, Cough if you know what I mean.
Yep that's coming into half term break in the UK! 1 or 2 weeks in Mid February, mid-May to late may and mid to late October, 2ish weeks around Easter and Christmas and then July to beginning of September for summer holidays.
Funnily enough, I've never gotten sick after going to Disney, even as a little kid when I didn't know any better. I guess I probably have my dad's OCD to thank for that. I am still in high school and definitely a long way away from getting to go to Disney again, but I plan to someday and I really like watching these videos anyways. (Btw AJ, your voice is so calming!) Whenever I'm able to go by myself for the first time, do y'all think I should dress up as Bolt? (Bolt has been my favorite Disney movie since I was little, it came out when I was almost 2) ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes. I went to Disneyland last December and missed the People Mover, Carousel of Progress, and the original Haunted Mansion since they do the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay.
The Smugglers Run nausea is real my friends! We let my 13 yo kid drive and I was nauseated for HOURS. Pale face, sweating profusely on every inch of my skin. I had taken all natural Dramamine. Never again…ever. My husband too. Learned our lesson!😂
as for rides breaking down..when i went as a child some 40 years ago i do not remember any rides being down for any reason. but it seems to me that the rides break more then they are up these days. Could it be that the tech is not ready for what we can cover it with?...just a thought
Hi! Random question but is there stairs at Disney world ? Because I’m going next year and I have a HUGEEE phobia of elevators so I was just wondering if there’s stairs ❤
Idk man i went ever year up to 2009 and everytime i was at magic kingdom there was nevwr a ride down so ok guess i dont have room to talk maybe now a days therr alot more ryders idk i always got on every ride i wanted to at disney but i only rode the og ones really the three mountains pirates haunted mansion and maybe jungle cruise everything else i skipped but that was a good day to me o and maybe tiki room
The hardest lesson people learn is never bring the whole family on a WDW trip. Solo trips (or couples trips) are soooooooooo much more fun, relaxing, and cheaper!
That’s an interesting take. 🤔 Personally, I’ve done both. - & all I did the ENTIRE trip, was think about how much my boys would’ve loved X, Y, & Z. Every single character-meet, every last ride, & every single “magical moment” we had… ALL i could think about was “how much my kids would have LOVED that experience,” etc. 🤷♀️ Couldn’t be me, at least, lol…. I didn’t enjoy that trip “more,” at all,

Not as young as you used to be is no lie. I'm a roller coaster fanatic. At least I used to be. Thrill rides in general. When I was a kid I used to love the Hell Hole in Wildwood, NJ which for those unfamiliar this is a ride where you are in a cylindrical room that starts to spin and it spins so fast that the floor drops and you're stuck to the wall. That was me circa 1985. Fast forward to 2018. We go to Hershey Park. My daughter wants to ride the Tilt-a-Whirl. I ride it with her. 10 seconds into the ride and I'm ready to die. After we got off I was done for the rest of the day. I just sat on a bench(and laid down a little) while my wife took the kids to rides. The next year we went to Disney and my daughter and I went on Mission Space Orange. When we were approaching Mars I hard to close my eyes and hope I didn't need those bags.
14:40 Immunity Boosters. My doctor recommends vitamin D3. And I know from experience that vitamin B12 is good for energy. But take them as recommended.
I wear a mask almost all the time I’m in Disney World. But I’m 67 years old, have had pneumonia four times and walking pneumonia twice, plus Omicron Covid, and my lungs are scarred. Can’t take any chances.
@@birbluv9595 Oo sorry to hear that. Yeah better be safe than sorry. I make sure I used hand sanitiser after touching anything! I used to work in a school and was ill all the time. Children are just germ bags and I say that in the most lovable way.
I have 2 rules at Disney don’t go to animal kingdom at night because THERE IS NOTHING TO DO and don’t go to Hollywood studios during the day because it is burning hot
@@metallicnole4514 ya but sometimes it’s open until 9 for extra magic hours so just don’t go it’s not worth it unless you really want to go to flight of passage
@@triciaizzo4825 That's only if you stay at a deluxe resort. I've never been to animal kingdom so I do wanna go once to do flight of passage, everest, and dinosaur
Seems like I always come back from Disney with a cold. The worst is people coughing on you while you're waiting in line. My mom got really sick when we were cold from the rain and waiting for the Frozen ride with this woman coughing the whole time. No amount of hand sanitizer can fix that
I went to Orlando for my Family Vacation last week. I decided to NOT do Disney. I did Discovery Cove which allows you to upgrade a little to get into Busch Gardens, Sea World, and Sea World Aquatica for 2 weeks. We had a blast. I would have done Universal but we were there last year and a lot of people who are angry with Disney are going to Universal so Universal is slammed with people. Just go somewhere else. Disney won't change if you keep thinking they will on their own or you think they will magically come to their senses. Disney has to be gutted of their leaders and replaced with family orientated leadership who put the customer first again. Disney has to lose so much money that they have no choice but to change. Consumers can make Disney bend the knee to what we truly want from their company.
I was shocked at how many women were walking around with a full face of makeup while I have to carry a sweat rag because I’m sweating profusely in May. Next trip will be in October.
Sorry to say, but October is still hot and humid. Out of the 6 days we were there in late October, only one day was comfortable. Two days had rain/ thunder storms
Disney needs to put a lot more ride in the parks they just keep taking rides away and not putting anything to replace them and then they put all this money into rethemes. there are not enough rides in any of the parks in Disney world and it makes for long miserable lines which makes miserable days at Disney.
Have you guys thought about offering the audio of your videos as a podcast? I love listening to your voice and would seriously just listen to these as a podcast

Moana water was down for a while but kinda opened so we got to experience a lil
And my favorite snack/drink was the minute maid strawberry flavor which is all but gone.
We love PeopleMover in all her wear-and-tear glory 😅
22:11 unless youre universal. Their concept art comes true
I'm just now noticing the voice similarity between AJ and Miss Mojo!
Aw man! I’m so sorry! That’s a bummer… I hope you still had fun during the rest of the trip!
Then they ruined the whole resort by erecting that monstrosity "Polynesian DVC Island Tower (of terror).
i actually prefer the runaway railway but that’s probably bc the movie ride was too loud for me as a kid and it scared me😭
I recently learned that the week before Mother's Day is not a good time to go.
I remember learning the hard way at disneyland in the 70s you can't smoke a dooby on the molecule ride. Not sure if it's legal now but check first.
(Bolt has been my favorite Disney movie since I was little, it came out when I was almost 2)
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
So many disney problems are solved by si.plu taking a minnie van
miss the people mover in disneyyland
Yes. I went to Disneyland last December and missed the People Mover, Carousel of Progress, and the original Haunted Mansion since they do the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay.
Same 🥲
Loved Disney World on multiple visits, at least 20, up to 2013. Zero interest to go back with prices and hassles being what they are now.
The Smugglers Run nausea is real my friends! We let my 13 yo kid drive and I was nauseated for HOURS. Pale face, sweating profusely on every inch of my skin. I had taken all natural Dramamine. Never again…ever. My husband too. Learned our lesson!😂
It’s ROUGH out there. 😵
Hydroflask water bottles fit loungefly bags and keep your water cold all day!!
Ooooh yes!!!!
I would wear black all day too
citrus swirl disapeared before I could try it
It was so young. TOO young. 🤧
I’m a stick in the mud when it comes to Walt Disney World Resort.
Are the refillable water stations filtered water or is it Florida tap water?
as for rides breaking down..when i went as a child some 40 years ago i do not remember any rides being down for any reason. but it seems to me that the rides break more then they are up these days. Could it be that the tech is not ready for what we can cover it with?...just a thought
Did anyone else get It vibes from Mickey with the red balloon? He looked like he didn't want to play the role of a murderous clown. xD
🤡🎈
It’s playing extra fast from about 6 seconds to 15 seconds. 😀
Like pick one child or the other?
@@linlen4866you could make them fight to the death?
Disney hates cast members
That’s an interesting take. 🤔
Personally, I’ve done both. - & all I did the ENTIRE trip, was think about how much my boys would’ve loved X, Y, & Z.
Every single character-meet, every last ride, & every single “magical moment” we had… ALL i could think about was “how much my kids would have LOVED that experience,” etc. 🤷♀️
Couldn’t be me, at least, lol…. I didn’t enjoy that trip “more,” at all,
Loll.. & why have you repeated this same EXACT comment on every single post of DFB’s for like 2 straight weeks now…?
Love your videos. You tell it like it is. What a big help . You do all the headache areas for us saving our money and time. I am so grateful . Please never stop your volg.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Also as a fit person, I wholly underestimated how much walking actually gets done. I was tired man.
It’s ROUGH.
You missed Sleepy Hollow taking away the Nutella fruit waffle 😭. If you look at their menu now it’s not there
IT’S STILL VERY PAINFUL AND WE’RE IN MOURNING 😭😭😭
Oooh, I feel this in my SOUL.
By the way, how was Hershey Park? My hubby and I keep wanting to plan a trip out that direction!
@@dfbbreea it's neat although because I was done after the tilt a whirl we didn't get to see the entire park.
What ride was shown that had Mary Poppins in it? Thanks!
That was the defunct Great Movie Ride that USED to be where Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is now!
14:40 Immunity Boosters. My doctor recommends vitamin D3. And I know from experience that vitamin B12 is good for energy. But take them as recommended.
I never noticed goofy was pantless
It’s less noticeable on the ride because he’s the Train Conductor and you only see his top-half 🤣
Last time we went more than half our party of 14 caught Covid, not fun in the heat!
This May I learned the hard way I will never go to Disney again when it's hot
I have 2 rules at Disney don’t go to animal kingdom at night because THERE IS NOTHING TO DO and don’t go to Hollywood studios during the day because it is burning hot
You can't go at night since animal kingdom closes at 6 pm
@@metallicnole4514 ya but sometimes it’s open until 9 for extra magic hours so just don’t go it’s not worth it unless you really want to go to flight of passage
A perfect park-hopping duo 🤣
@@triciaizzo4825 That's only if you stay at a deluxe resort. I've never been to animal kingdom so I do wanna go once to do flight of passage, everest, and dinosaur
@@metallicnole4514 ya that makes sense but if you wanna do other and animal things don’t go it’s not worth it
Hi
When are the 2025 books comeing out
isn’t that “creepy version of goofy” Pluto??
Seems like I always come back from Disney with a cold. The worst is people coughing on you while you're waiting in line. My mom got really sick when we were cold from the rain and waiting for the Frozen ride with this woman coughing the whole time. No amount of hand sanitizer can fix that
Wow I’m early
Hey AJ. Can you set up this channel for members? I would love to be able to support you guys every month.
Are there any easy lessons to be learned in WDW these days? 🤣
Easy lesson = Just order Dole Whip and call it good 🤣🤣
@@dfbbreea Definitely not Beverly
The easiest is never bring the whole family
@@councilofkarens729i LOVE Beverly but can no longer drink fizzy beverages! Can’t win!
@@birbluv9595 That sucks. Because of the fizz, or because of the sugar?
i take hand sanitizer everywhere
Saaaaame ✨
Dinosaur can make you barf too
Fair 🤢
The "Reimagining" is why I no longer go to Disney.
Why do Americans insist on wearing those ponchos instead of a proper rain jacket like the rest of the world?
Why would anyone want to do this?
Me bridgetroll

I was shocked at how many women were walking around with a full face of makeup while I have to carry a sweat rag because I’m sweating profusely in May. Next trip will be in October.
Just went to Disney back in May, too - and my face was MELTIN’! I FEEL YA!!
Sorry to say, but October is still hot and humid. Out of the 6 days we were there in late October, only one day was comfortable. Two days had rain/ thunder storms
@@LorraineRodriguez-y2w I live in South Texas so October will be better for me. I’m true to this; not new to this 😉
Disney needs to put a lot more ride in the parks they just keep taking rides away and not putting anything to replace them and then they put all this money into rethemes. there are not enough rides in any of the parks in Disney world and it makes for long miserable lines which makes miserable days at Disney.
Lounge fly ? Really ? Where did you make up that word ? Just call it whatever other people call it, a backpack duh
Loungefly is a popular backpack brand 🤗
And they make high-end, beautiful, Disney themed backpacks.
Have you guys thought about offering the audio of your videos as a podcast? I love listening to your voice and would seriously just listen to these as a podcast
Literally my favorite voice on RUclips. I don’t even plan on going to Disney for another couple years, yet I know so much about it. Thanks to AJ‘s voice.
