I really love your tutorial. This is a great method using a T-shirt to make a customized pattern rather than having to get a commercial pattern. I just bought fabric this morning and am excited to get started. Thanks.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that! :) I'm so happy they've inspired you to make your own dress!!! Thank you for sharing that with me, it really means a lot, and thank you for watching my channel!!
+Grammy Vulture Thank you! Glad you liked it 😃 I originally had black fringe for this but found the red in my stash and loved the way it popped lol! Thanks for watching!!!
I have been sewing for over 50 years and this is the easiest video I have ever seen....no kidding, AND, in all those years I can tell you....Knits are not my friend! I just made a knit pull over shirt...it looks like a wet dishrag that someone threw at me. P.s. I am a horder shopper of retro sewing patterns...not because I like sewing them, but when I get them (from Etsy) I look at the front picture of the pattern how the artist draws the women wearing the outfit, her hair and accessories...it is like collecting baseball cards I guess??? My patterns have a room of their own and want for nothing! Anywho, your video was just wonderful❤️
Aww, that is so sweet of you to say, thank you very much!!! :) Hahaha I hope you can make better friends with knits ;) Some of them can be so tricky but I sure do love knit projects with the right fabrics! Ohh how cool that you collect retro patterns! I totally know what you mean - I love looking at the art and the styles and inspiration on fashion drawings and patterns so that's such a great idea to collect them! And it sounds like they have a loving home :D I bet it's so fun to sort through them and get inspiration from the styles! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!!!
Aw thank you so much!!! What a nice comment to read 😊 I'm really happy you liked it! Thanks for taking the time to watch my video and leave a comment! Happy sewing 😃
+Little Cherry Hill I'm glad this is what you were looking for! And it always makes me happy to hear that a video is clear to follow 😃 Thank you very much for watching and commenting!!!
+Chelsea Fletcher Thank you so much - I'm so glad you like them! I hope you get back into sewing and have fun with the project 😃 The great thing about this one is that there's no complicated fit issues or anything so it's fun and fairly easy to make and I really hope you find it easy too! Thanks for watching!!!
Thank you!!! I try to make things as clear to understand as possible so I'm really glad that you thought it was explained well, that means a lot to me! Thanks so much for watching 😃
+Live, Love & Learn Naturally 😂😂😂 I'm glad you liked that part! 😂 Aw yes butterflies are so pretty! I loved that fabric as soon as I saw it... I swear we are like fabric twins lol!!!
You make so much sense, my goodness. Thank you.can I use the same pattern to make a jacket?maybe add interfacing and lining?I had 'Fos' aka fear of sleeves but you helped me overcome that. Bless you. I just discovered you today. I am hooked!
Thank you so much! I'm so happy you liked the tutorial!! 😃I think you could use the same general idea to make a jacket - and if you have a jacket style you like you could even trace around it to make a similar style!
I've been looking for patterns and tutorials for sleeveless kimonos but I can't seem to find any. Do you think it'll work if I take the normal pattern and don't add the sleeves (+ make the shoulders narrower)? It's for a cosplay of avatar Kyoshi
Hi! I would recommend almost any brother machine. Singer machines are good as well, but are harder to find one thats beginner friendly because there so many to choice from. Hope this helps :)
Thanks! I've used a Singer Talent 3321 for several years and I think it's pretty beginner friendly so it's one I'd definitely recommend! It has a decent variety of stitches, not so many that they're overwhelming, but enough that as you learn and experiment you can try new things. And if you decide not to go with that specific machine, I'd recommend looking for a machine that you can adjust the stitch length and stitch width on (I've seen a few super basic machines where you can't do that), and that has some basic stitches (like straight stitch and zigzag stitch) but also a few stretch stitches and decorative stitches. This will allow you to keep experimenting when you're ready to move on from just the straight stitch and zigzag stitch without having to upgrade a machine again. I've had great luck with Singer so far but I've also heard a lot of people who have enjoyed their Brother machines. I hope that helps! Good luck with your purchase and I'd love to hear what you decide!
+The Sterling Thimble Aw thank you!!! I appreciate the kind words and it always means a lot to know when a project looks easy to make 😃 Thank you for watching and happy sewing!

love it! Thanks for this tutorial. the fabric with the red to me was such a great combo. Ill be referring to this just to make sure i do everything correctly😂. Thanks again!
+xo Santana Thank you so much!!! I'm glad you liked the combo - I actually bought black fringe for this, but found the red bias tape and red fringe in my stash and thought it really popped so I'm happy to hear you agreed! Thanks so much for watching and I hope you have fun sewing it!! 😄
Hmm I’ve checked and it’s playing right for me and for a family member I asked to check on their computer... I googled to see why a video wouldn’t play right and got a lot of suggestions to clear the cookies and history and whatnot as sometimes this can cause a video to stop, so I wonder if that would help? I’ll continue to try and figure out what is going on when I have more time to look into it and see if there’s any more suggestions I can figure out! I’m so sorry for the inconvenience!!! Otherwise I may wind up making another version of this video. I’ll let you know if I can figure anything out!
Hmm it took a minute to load but is playing for me... I’m on my phone now but will look on my computer as soon as I can to see if it will play anywhere else! I hope nothing is wrong with it and I’m sorry it’s not working for you!
Haha I told her 😂I wish I could convince her to be in more videos, she's usually camera shy! It was funny looking back on this so thank you for the comment!!
