    In my humble opinion, ANYONE that races on the IOMTT , is not a regular person. They are special because of what they do. One does not have to win the TT, just finish the race is a major accomplishment.My hat is off to each and every rider that has ever ridden the race.

    Valentino Rossi is an extremely high professional in motorcycle racing, with extraordinary technical, physical and mental preparation. The pilots of the TT-Race, in the vast majority are mechanics, plumbers, carpenters, teachers etc. with a good dose of courage and perhaps unconsciousness (judging by how many die each year) who in their spare time, race at the TT. So, before criticizing Rossi, please inquire and connect your brain to your mouth. Thank you !

      Rossi might be a great Grand Prix motorcycle rider, but even he lacks the balls to ride the IOMTT. He has said so himself. He also states that riders who drive in IOM not only possess good riding skills but also have big cajones. OP GTFO with your bias and prejudice, IOM riders are a breed apart. Appreciate their skill and their heart to pursue something many of us dream, but a rare skilled few get the opportunity to do.

    I'm sure if Rossi did decide to race at the TT, he would be successful, but it takes 3 years to learn, Rossi has no intention of doing it & he's a bit old to be starting now, although age doesn't effect performance as much road racing as it would Short circuit, short circuit requires youth. But then again Rossi is still on top and he is 37. Hailwood, Agostini,Foggy & Hizzy were very successful at TT. They were all track racers too, so Rossi could be just as successful on the roads.

    Reading the comments I'd just want to point out that most MotoGP racers can race on the TT but due to insurance companies and contracts that they have signed they cannot participate. I bet Rossi and other top riders are going to fly just as fast as the TT riders.

      yup and the TT prize is not that much, very little compared to motogp. so i think many motogp racers won't race there even if it is allowed.

      I don't think the average GP rider would have the mindset to be immediately competitive at IOMTT. Even Rossi openly states the risk factor at IOM is far greater than GP racing and intimidates him. GP riders are finely tuned athletes riding finely tuned bikes, these road racers buy comparison are more like streetwise thugs. It's a completely different mindset. Though it would be of interest to put a few of the top road race guys onto a track against the GP guys. Better yet to find someone that could race IMO and Irish road and GP - that would be an impressive individual.

    • @prgv648
      @prgv648 10 лет назад

      Tom Martin I am pretty sure a GP racer can race on IOMTT since British superbike racers participate and are doing pretty good. I am not sure about street racers getting anywhere near 1,2,3 place ever on a GP race like Rossi.

    I'm a diehard Honda man, wouldn't consider riding anything else, not that other bikes aren't just as good or even better in some areas, but Rossi is the baddest man on 2wheels in the world. Lorenzo is on fire now, but so was Stoner two years ago, and he hasn't won a race this year, but he's coming to Honda now so I guess I have to start liking him.

      Quim Roscas so all the riders who race here are stupid then ? I don't think so the senior tt has the greats of bike racing on it and ago, haillwood, Dunlop and other greats have raced here. go and ask carl foggarty what he thinks about the trophies he won here. road racers can adapt to tracks but the gp riders cant adapt to road racing because they cant handle the dangers of it . the senior tt is still a must have trophy to be a true great. oh and if you climb a mountain like Everest are you stupid for putting yourself in danger. do one and don't diss the tt the greatest bike race in the world, still

    • @jonathanpoole1464
      @jonathanpoole1464 10 лет назад

      you stick up for the boring circuits that are boring and offer no challenge. fact is there scared but the riders at the tt can adapt to track racing. there are a lot of sports where people take on challenges knowing it can result in death such as mountaineering and round the world sailing. let rossi and co have a sratch round some large go kart track but the senior tt is full of legends on it who won on the isle of man. my advice to you is don't go out as you might get run over. if I was gifted to race in moto gp I would still race at the tt its not stupid, stupid

    Yeah, after watching other races that some of the TT regulars race at...especially the Irish road courses. Yeah, it does take a special person with total self control and concentration to do this. I stand corrected. But those races in Ireland, the streets are very narrow. Cookstown 100, Tandragree100, NW 200, you need some "pills" to run those flat out.

    Good link. As I have said I live on IOM so get to see all the TT races. I also go over to Ireland for the Northwest 200. As for the bikes been standard, that's only in Superstock where they are all production bikes straight out the showroom. In th TT and NW 200 they have different classes.

    I have lots of respect for VR, he has proved himself time and time again, but he is a circuit racer on controlled purpose built tracks, high side at silverstone and the chances are you will get up and walk away. TT is a different story, there is no room for error and it takes pure guts and serious concentration to do what the likes of Mcguinness, Rutter, Dunlop and many others have done over the years. Isle of man TT racing sorts the men out from the boys, simple as that!

    Rossi is great rider but he said he is glad it is not on GP calendar anymore, he knows how dangerous it is and that is why GP riders race on tracks, they are not willing to risk death like the TT riders are. 2 totally different types of races and racers. Both are great skilled riders but TT riders are skilled and brave and a bit crazy. Hats off to TT rider the only true ROAD racers still around, others are track riders.
