I find it very frustrating to hear reporter say that Cowan is not playing with NHLers, what is Alex Nylander, seems he has played in the NHL and was offered several contracts by NHL teams but wanted a different developmental approach. At least report the facts and not twist them like bad media
If you're going to separate Benny and McCabe (which I don't agree with), you need to partner Lilly with McCabe because I don't think Benny is enough to offset Lilly's defensive gaffs.
If Willy can be a full time centre, that could set a precedence that Marner shouldn't expect a higher AAV than $11.5. I wonder if the leafs brass have this strategy in mind.
Question: After training camp and leafs decide to make a trade or even by trade deadline. Do you see Utah as a trade partner, who have said they are making the playoffs. Do you see Toronto looking to bring Shane Doan's son to Toronto, and what would that trade look like?

Cowan is too young to play in the AHL so what he can do with AHLers doesn’t really matter…. There is a less than zero chance he makes the team this year.
I Would take Benoit / Hakanpaa as a 3rd pair and Ditch Lilegren for a cheaper option at 7D. Lilegren is NOT a top 4 D and too expensive for a 6,7 Dman. bad contract IMO
Best lines into my opinion is: Knies Matthew's and Domi McMann Tavares Nylander Cowan Minten Marner Pacioretty Kampf Jarnkrok Extras: Holmberg and Dewar. All lines have defense and offensive, just roll the top 3. Play the hot line more on a game to game base
@brandonlandry1789 are you saying Marner isn't a team player or unable to drive his own line? As I said you roll the top 3 lines and go hard on the hot line as a game by game base
@bigdca7454 yes he's not a speed demon but he does have one of the top speed burst ratings on the team. Even with him as the 3rd trailing forward (with a cannon of a shot) they still had 70+ goals as a second line. Not bad IMO
Benoit is great! I see him up with McCabe.
Swap Domi and Marner in Mike's lines and you got something more balanced and defensively sound

I think he's a developing player and has been between the NHL and minors
Cowan is too small to make a difference. Talented with kids in the OHL. He’s just a child in a man’s league
