There is no end to learning weird new facts about this guy's life.
@Eammon Wright With William Burroughs: A report from the bunker
Narrator: As a child, he once got a piggyback ride from Bigfoot
Me: hm, interesting
Burroughs is a perfect link for would be writers and academics who fall into desperation and who become part of dramas they cannot control.
All of them, yes.
What a statement I agree
still love his work!!
I'm gonna watch the crap outta this.
I'm honored to share the same birthday as this great man! Crazy he was bron Feb 5 1914 and i was born feb 5 1994 (his 80th birthday.)
Me too!
A moneyed Junkie, who turned homosexual and murdered his own wife in cold blood....
WHAT's TO LEARN ??? from Bill Burroughs, but for Cynicism, Hate , and his multitude of MISTAKES, ERRORS, SINS, and WASTED LIFE...
When Kurt Cobain died...and Burroughs meet with him worked together and loved - respected each other btw. Heavy stuff! RIP
As a kid, I loved Patti Smith's first album (still feel it's one of the most beautiful things to come out of the '70s), but when I hear her try to pontificate upon any subject, it's like nails on a chalk board...
Well, she's raised Christian. That's a hard thing to get rid off staying sober lol
She is also the most addicted-to being-photographed person I ever saw.
I love all style from all of them!
He was born 85 years old
Good film.
Genius of inspiration for me.
you listen to these people and when youre young and impressionable and full of piss you think, wow, theyre so authentic and gritty. but really, that's the extent of it. they had the presence of mind to document their very real, very stark lives but as far as artistry....as ive gotten older i find very little worth returning to. listening to patti smith laud Willaim Burroughs as one of the greatest minds of his time made me actually laugh out loud.
They're certainly not above criticism, that's for sure. I like Burroughs' cadence. His speaking voice. As for his character, that's a different story.
He was an ugly American who grew old with grace. Something that couldn't be said of a number of others....
(I'm looking at YOU, McCarthy!)
0:10 Herbert Huncke, “Herman” in Burroughs’ “Junky”
Oh why did that stop at 1.50 was just getting interesting
There's a much better one with backing music "sympathy for the devil" rolling stones, bit longer and very graphic video of him hitting up. Unsure what he's hitting as you wouldn't inject heroin top of arm, possibly a stimulant, nearly all junkies go intravenous through arm, but stop elbow height and where wsb is theres no vein just muscle, they then legs/feet and eventually, after destroying all access, they use groin, where a much bigger vein is, but it's deep and adjacent to an artery. Whilst im here hahs who is the guy with beard n glasses saying you wouldn't know shit about burroughs, thanks if u can help
@@terrymckenna3382 where?
Who is guy at 0.46 seconds saying you wouldn't know shit about burroughs. Im certain most here will know. Im more a Lakeland Poets person and Rimbaud but a friend ignited my admiration/curiosity for these unique set of individuals, as with many movements their notoriety usually comes somewhat later., Corso said "it's the rock n rollers who get all the bread" .Was lucky to meet Tuli kupferberg in Greenwich, another legend, him and wsb, older by some, than the rest of the originals. Guy I'm seeking a name for is around 63, beard and glasses, you will cure an injured mind, perturbed. Cheers !
That is Lucien Carr. He's the father of Caleb Carr the novelist....and, he killed a would-be gay suitor as a teenager.
Voodoo tradition makes its own distinction between black and white magic, with sorcerers like the Bokor known for using magic and rituals of both. But their penchant for magic associated with curses, poisons and zombies means they, and Voodoo in general, are regularly associated with black magic in particular.Conspiracy theories resist falsification and are reinforced by circular reasoning: both evidence against the conspiracy and an absence of evidence for it are re-interpreted as evidence of its truth, whereby the conspiracy becomes a matter of faith rather than something that can be proven or disproven. Studies have linked belief in conspiracy theories to distrust of authority and political cynicism.
Some researchers suggest that conspiracist ideation-belief in conspiracy theories-may be psychologically harmful or pathological, and that it is correlated with lower analytical thinking, low intelligence, psychological projection, paranoia, and Machiavellianism. Psychologists usually attribute belief in conspiracy theories and finding a conspiracy where there is none to a number of psychopathological conditions such as paranoia, schizotypy, narcissism, and insecure attachment,[9] or to a form of cognitive bias called "illusory pattern perception". However, the current scientific consensus holds that most conspiracy theorists are not pathological, precisely because their beliefs ultimately rely on cognitive tendencies that are neurologically hardwired in the human species and probably have deep evolutionary origins, including natural inclinations towards anxiety and agency detection.
