If Kingsmead Stadium cannot provide an alternative way out from the race finish line, then it means it is not an ideal finishing point. A couple of years around 2018 or so, the Comrades House made use of Moses Mabida Stadium as a finishing point. I cant understand why that was changed back to Kingsmead.
I experienced this last year, I finished my comrades marathon in 11:43 hours, I had no energy left and felt like vomating , nauseated but still had no options but to climb up 😢
Are you a runner,, or you just say what you thinking,, do you know how painful finish comrades ,, do you know how painful climbing this stairs,, there's no recovery climbing this stairs ,,, not even once I found myself recovering from climbing this stairs
I am a runner, and climbing stairs reduces the period of Delayed onset muscle soreness, and because you will be carrying your whole body up loading each leg at a time, you get to concentrate on every step hence you basically reduce the risk of post race injuries. Have you seen anyone fall on those stairs before? No. but if we were to go down the stairs post race, it would be a different story
@@circles27 only in your body ,,, I've done 15 comrades marathons n im a club chairman what you saying isn't true to majority of runners,,, recovery substances that helps runners not stairs
If I remember correctly this race had no last finisher being counted down also a lot was cut off way to early so I think everything that year was super chaotic Miracle finishing at its best
🤣🤣🤣 I remember sitting on these stairs last year with my running partner and watching people finish. I’m gonna miss walking up these stairs. I hope we get this finish venue again in 2025. This race is fun! 90km of fun

Bro ur bgm is giving me nightmares
This year, there was no clear path to exit the venue.
As in Two Oceans. I finished the 21.1 but threw up going up those stairs to the parking😢
It's actually very beneficial for the runner's recovery process,
How?

So much for a "down" run
Yeah, the 90 km run is not yet finished )))
Not even this years race
Why, they ran a whole marathon
They ran two in a row….. and then some.
It’s 89km
And yet thousands do it every second year, dont be such babies, comment section.
Um... torture??
I will be crawling😢😢
I'd be tired after just the stairs.
