    The computer analysis of the queen sacrifice is really interesting. The engine recommends not sacrificing the queen and instead capturing the pawn with the queen, but if you make this move, the engine immediately evaluates white as much better. But if you go against the engine's recommendation and sacrifice the queen as Ratnakaran did, the engine suddenly evaluates an improvement for black.

    • @rohangeorge712
      @rohangeorge712 Год назад

      that legit doesnt make sense on the engine's part, thats some bad evaluations then lol. its like dont make the move, but if u make it, u get an advantage

    • @aliensconfirmed3498
      @aliensconfirmed3498 Год назад +2

      @@rohangeorge712
      That's because engines don't consider all the lines. They only consider those that look decent. So a queen sacrifice without immediate advantage is probably not considered by engine. But when you play the move and engine goes deep into that line, that's when it realises that it's a good move.

    • @aliensconfirmed3498
      @aliensconfirmed3498 Год назад +1

      Just checked lichess analysis of this game. It shows +1.3 after c×d5 and recommends Q×d5 after which evaluation is +1.4. After playing N×d5 the evaluation goes to 2.5. With B×Q it drops to 0.4 and with Knight capture it drops to 0. The most interesting part of the analysis to me was that at 4:54 engine suggests the same move that he played instead of capturing the bishop. At this moment engine says take the c7 pawn and it's still a draw but after the move in the game it's -1.1.

    This is a very interesting game. Most of the time when you see a queen sacrifice, it is based on an impending checkmate. Here, black gives up the queen early in the game, yet completely dominates, and there really isn't much white can do. It really shows you just how powerful a superior position, and piece development is.

    Such games are very rare because Queen sacrifices are very dangerous and not many players take such risks against titled players, but also because of the fact that their is usually some drawback or way that the enemy can pounce back. These games are truly out of this world and should be enjoyed to the fullest because of the great thought and effort put into them. Great production agadmator and marvelously played Kantholi Ratnakaran (got to give him respect for a move that maybe players like Anand, and Carlsen wouldn't have played.)

    I keep coming back to this game. Yes, if you're Indian, you can take pride in it and that's okay, but the beautiful thing about chess is than anyone can take joy in a game well-played. It comes down to 2 guys, 2 sets of pieces, and a chessboard. It's not about nationality, but about making good moves. To sac a queen so early in the game in such a fluid position and come out on top--what can I say but 'wow!'
