    The fact that Rubenstein's immortal game with a queen sacrifice as well as a rook sacrifice just indicates how famous this victory should be cause look at that bishop pair slicing like scissors and with a modern approach this game should be considered a minature!

    So many parallels here with Anand's immortal against Aronian with the knight coming to g4 and the queen to h4, and the snipers just waiting in the other corner! The bishop pair is truly from hell, and fully operational.

      I hope this isnt way out of left field, but there’s a musician named Yebba who lost her mother to suicide as well. her music is really cathartic for me, and for a lot of people - she’s incredible at expressing all of the shades of loss & hope
      There is no real ‘fix,’ but if you ever want to hear something by someone who knows what you’re going through, i’d recommend her music. her song ‘october sky’ in particular is dedicated to her mother.

    One thing to like about chess history is that it all remains current. Basic rule changes to the game happened in the very distant past, so we can examine positions just the same as any era. The only rules chess has moved ahead from olden days with are the introduction of clocks, three-fold repetition, the 50 move rule, and other minor regulatory facets not directly in conflict with the game's classic structure.

    • @augustedupin9576
      @augustedupin9576 2 года назад

      Yes, and it is just amazing to see how our understanding of the game deepened over the years through the insights of the earlier masters. Modern engines have kind of killed that process. But hey, if you are not a professional and just an enthusiast like me, what's better than enjoying classics like this one.

    • @misternewoutlook5437
      @misternewoutlook5437 2 года назад

      @@augustedupin9576 Yeah. Engines have put finality on everything. But for a couple of obscure puzzles, they have solved chess in the everyday sense. This does take away our own deductions and mocks the commentaries from the masters and authors in the old chess books. Sure, it's fun to explore those errors with the engines, but again, that finality puts any further arguments to rest.
