[S2 - Eps. 17] A CRAZY day in Patagonia, Argentina

  • In this episode I'm riding from Tres Cerros, a petrol station along Ruta 3 in Argentina all the way down south to Rio Gallegos. One crazy long day in which I made some nice dirt road detours, but mostly, I was battling the insanely strong side winds Patagonia is famous for...

    You are amazing. I ride a BMW and under no circumstances do I lack the power or weight to not pass a truck. I admire your sound, sound riding judgement. That said, with all my 160 hp I can not easily traverse the beautiful and inspiring landscapes you access on your little Royal Enfield. I am 67 years old and have three daughters your age and older. All are strong and independent women as are you. I learn so much from them. I do from you also. I weigh well...well over 200 lbs so if I choose an adventure bike it will have to be larger than yours, but I’ve been smitten by what you are accomplishing. Either trading in my super touring bike or buying another bike like a Honda African Twin is now, because of you, definitely a card on the table for me. Ride on and ride safely. I could never physically do what you are doing but I think I am still young enough to get a taste. Love your video posts. Lord bless and show you journey’s mercies.

      Down size the bike, slow down a little, pack a little less. You can go to more places like Noraly too. I too have always had big (1000+cc) street bikes, but to go off road will require me to scale down because of age and strength. Noraly's journey's are inspiring many of us to rewrite our bucket lists. Safe travels to all and keep the wind in your face.

      Hi Bruce, I liked you comment and I would say: go for it, despite your age and 'lbs'. And take the Honda Africa Twin, my next bike :-)

    • @agustinenzoa4447
      @agustinenzoa4447 5 лет назад +8

      The Africa Twin is a dream bike (older ones as well as the new one) but today you have many options around 600 cubic centimeters. Most big Japanese brands (careful with Chinese!), KTMs and Beamers will do the trick. Go lighter and you will get anywhere you want and have 10X More fun, trust me.
      I wouldn't go for that cheap Royal Enfield made in India that will bring you headaches, limit your trip and spend many days servicing it at the dealers.
      Good bikes don't break down when properly maintained.

      @jonmulack4226 5 лет назад +6

      @@agustinenzoa4447 I'm 62 and been riding for almost 50 years. Where these bikes go is amazing. At my skill level which is high on tar, poor on dirt, lighter is much better, easy to maintain is vital, power needs to be usable. Easy going off road has a large appeal if the challenge is there, but doesn't hurt us doing it. There's a guy out there using Yamaha WR450's. Very good power 2 weight, but for more skilled riders like yourself

    When I drove in my car in January in the Chilean part of the Andes mountains, I met two guys in a pickup like the white one here. At that moment I actually felt a little helpless. If they'd wanted to rob the hell out of me, or worse, there would have been absolutely nothing I could do about it. That was the only time I had that feeling. Seeing you here alone on that road gave me a reminder of that feeling. Take care....

      Gauchos and the people that live that life in Patagonia are known for being kind and hospitable. Virtually 0% crime rate in the whole countryside. I'm sorry but your fears were absolutely disconected from reality. Those people are the best you can find anywhere in the world. Ready to help you and humble. So much that when you need someone to do you a favour you say "Please can you do me a "gauchada" instead of using the word "favour""

      @@MadsThomsen So sad to hear about that. I hope you don't make a judgement of the whole continent based on that algouth I know it's difficult because once you go trough someting like that It stays with you your whole life. I don't know about the exact situation in Chile although I think that it's the same as here in Argentina. Rural areas in the countries on the south tip of South America are really peacefull and virtually crimeless. Big cities on the other hand are something different like any other big city in the world. But you shouldnt be alarmed by that either if you look at the numbers and statistics, cities like Buenos Aires, Santiago or Montevideo are among the safest in Latin America despite what many people believe.

    Inspirational and exhilarating! Horses crossing the road were great to see. Hearing damage from wind noise is a real issue when riding. Protect your ears! Thanks for more beautiful scenery and interesting commentary. Safe trip!

    "That feeling", I think you are capturing it on camery pretty well. I look at your movies, and can just taste the adventure, the peace, the freedom ! I'm so proud of you and don't even know you. Pfff, I can only feel sad and jealousy that this didn't happen to me, in my life. Too old now I think :).

    Getting out on the land with empty vistas and an open sky is a powerful experience by bike. There is an intense connection to the land and the ride that simply isn't there in a car. You're right, it's awesome.

    The wild horses...STUNNING. All the wildlife racing you on that dirt track; I'm pretty sure you had the LARGEST smiles inside your helmet. Say baby Nandu one more time...Lol I cannot get enough of those blue skies and that crystal blue river you showed us from the bridge is ridiculous! I bet if it wasn't so windy, you would have gone down there to explore. Glad you got to do a little drone action too. Thanks Noraly for my dose of ahmazing and I can't wait for the next video :-)

    ........now if you can just harness that crazy wind and have it propel you petrol free, what a great idea that would be! Maybe a sail, if the wind goes the wrong way you will have to learn tacking. Oh never mind, easier to buy petrol, lol. Glad you survived the wind; being a rider I have experienced that, not much fun. Thanks again for taking me on your journey Noraly. I look forward to every ride.
