I wish Emulators would be better optimized for the original 3DS/2DS! It should be more than capable of running just about anything 8 and 16-Bit. Am quite surprised that after all this time we still have stuff like the SNES chugging on it. Even some basic optimization should get things running at full speed. Utilization of both cores, offloading certain stuffs to the GPU and it's dedicated RAM, Etc. Those sorts of things should easily get the 3DS/2DS running Genesis and SNES at full speed. Am not sure why this hasn't been done yet...
i think it has to do with real world physical constraints tbh and the companies avoidance of performance based systems rather than quick sales and profits knowing they have an incrowd with their name. this is why i avoid most portable devices but the 3ds is especially frail. the retro arch runs painfully slow. the virtual console injectors a bit faster just i havent seen one that can run snes or the genesis on a 3ds just yet. it seems like it should but in reality its just a tiny bit shy even as a standalone. the gba might have been called a "32 bit" system but in reality mightve had less punch than the home console 16 bit megadrive sega put out in the late 80s "shrugs" go figure..i have read to truly emulate sth a system needs to be 4 times more powerful than the system it is trying to run. meanwhile my hacked og xbox tears up n64 games heh neverless it is sad this thing cant do much more than a handful of tg16 games
@@bobspence5322 As I was saying, the Emulators on the 3DS are not very well optimized. They should be running better w the hardware it has but seems it hasn't gotten too much work put into the Emulator optimization.
@@skins4thewin i got rid of retroarch and some of the standalone versions do run ok. the tg16 snes megadrive snes and gameboy ones all run at normal speed on 99 percent of roms. retroarch made those run like crap. the atari lynx and others however not so good ps1 no.. i havent tried n64 i figure its too slow as well.
Could you check to see if Jeopardy (NES ver.) runs okay on this? It gives me “issues”. I have never tried RetroArch. At the moment have no way of downloading it. A nice helpful video though. Thanks.
I seem to have misplaced the cores file, when i go to load content, it says no core available at the ‘suggested core’ page. I am able to select ‘download a core’ and a list of cores pops up but then nothing happens. I did separate the list of cores into cores/coresNotused so i dont know if that has anything to do with it…
I installed retroarch on my 3ds and am taking it off.. it runs too slow.. I’m not sure if it’s like that cause of all the ROMs data or if it’s just my 3ds.. but my ds and 3ds games work perfectly
even noobs need to understand emulating and computer speed. the psp is probably as or even more powerful than 3ds. to truly emulate sth you need a system about 3 to 4 times more powerful. with retroarch you might even need more as it seems to slow the games down quite a bit. a 3ds cpu/gpu is bare bones. i wouldnt be surprised to see it emulate a snes game here or there maybe but dont expect a usable ps5 emulator anytime soon.
ive installed and removed it.. its too slow. the injectors play the games at regular speed or even kind of peppy but they well just bug a lot of the time glitches etc.. but retroarch is too slow.
Seriously tho, the fact that the DSTWO card can emulate this stuff better than the 2DS can, even tho the 2DS hardware is SIGNIFICANTLY more powerful than anything inside the DSTWO card, tells you that this hardware SHOULD be more than capable of emulating both the Genesis and SNES at full speeds. However, these Emulators NEED to be optimized for the system, something which nobody seems to want to put in the effort to do, and I am really not sure why!
why bother when the 3ds and 2ds have the option of just using the virtual console for those systems? look into that if you havent, its way easier than bothering with emulators and there's a virtual console for nes, snes, gb, gbc, gba, and sega genesis. They run most games just like on original hardware. So far on my 2ds I've only had problems with secret of mana's main menu displaying properly, and that is something i can overlook, all other games i've tried run fine. look up newsuperultimateinjector, is the program i use to turn roms into .cia files to easy install on the 2ds through FBI
@@yht6470 Well yeah, I already do that for the stuff that ya can. It's just a shame that the Emulators on the 3DS aren't very well optimized. It's a bit odd that more time hasn't been put into optimizations for such a popular system. Hell, the Emulators on the PSP are better optimized than what's on the 3DS.
@@alblunt9306 Lol why would you have to do that? For Virtual Console which is what you suggested you actually have to do that. For ROMS you just dump all your ROM folders on to your storage device and you're done. Not sure what you're talking about. Surely you have full ROM packs by now or know where to find them, they couldn't be easier to find.
agree. nothing on retroarch is suitable for 3ds. you should be using virtual console injectors with cia and thats about it. sorry thats all i can make work. those with newer systems and more time might have some success good luck i didnt.
Thank you, I'm a dummy and was install/deleting the emulator.... 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Thanks for this!!!!!!

Aw man... I really wanted to see you try more Emulators, as well as the standalone ones! Did you ever make a video showing those off?
they move slow as dog pud.
Is there any way to load cheats on this version of retro arch? I can’t see a “download cheats” in the online updater.
How about Nintendo DS, this can work there?
does anyone know which core it is for 2ds games?
hold up 3ds xl does retroarch work well and if so does it have psp?
@tillicome2288 oh okay well I can wait a long time so np also yeah I know I am slightly funny

From reading the instructions it seems I would have to load 800+ games one by one. No thanks if that is the case.
