@@EzeAsuoha No it did not happen to me. And if you interrupt the cfw update or interrupt the NOR or NAND dump. YOu can end up with an rsod aka the red screen of death. and you cannot fix this.

At-least HEN can run homebrew now and isn't much trouble to set up. It had very little utility when it was first introduced 5-6 years ago and it's come a long way since then.

Just thought some may want to know, when i did the MD5 check to validate whether it matches, mine did not match what the site said it should be. I redownloaded many times thru multiple browsers (Chrome, Edge, WaterFox) and none matched the site, but they matched each other. But went ahead and continued anyways. In the end it all worked out amazingly. So PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK, but it work well for me. EDIT: Also forgot to add, MrMario, great job on the tutorial. Easy to follow and easy to understand.
I fix, delid and then sell PS3 after installing cfw. Mostly because of modman for the fan speed. If this and the last time has taught me anything. Is not to rely on online hacking method. I started updating only to 4.90 and doing this method. Good to know it works on 4.91. thank you for the info.
If you get this error message 'An error occurred during the download operation (80710A06)' Make sure your date and time is set correctly on your PS3, it fixed it for me.

I just made it before potentially too late ^^ And valetudo is honestly really cool in my opinion because I felt always too uncomfortable to have that sending Private data home and being forced to run xiaomi china Apps on my phone. This allows also full control over home assistant or over the http Webserver from valetudo. For me the home assistant functionslity is awesome. I love home assistant

Couple things, love you for breaking this down btw. ive tried a couple of times now and im getting stuck because its not succesfully dumping onto my USB drive. Ive tried multiple things to no avail. And yes I have confirmed my USB drive is Fat32 and rufus was successful as well as the correct items were checked. The PS3 reads my USB just fine, and loaded the patch just fine. I have also ran the dump on both 000 and 001 just to be safe. Really bummed the other method is down. Might have to try your guide to HEN, but ive heard so many people complain about having issues with it.
Just to give more context. Ive done three installs now of the system update, had no problems with it going through both screens and rebooting. Cleared my caches, cookies ect. Gone to the website, and got to the part to dump to my usb and had it finish, taken it to my PC and no dump file showing. Also tried both 00 and 01 ports of this process. Confirmed the memory type per sticker on the back of console.
@@MrMario2011 Hey this is weird but I found the issue for anyone who comes to look at this thread. I'm currently using the workaround for BGtools, got it up and running and am now using your BGtools video to complete. I found out the USB drive is showing as OO6 when I dumped my NOR off the tools. Guessing thats why it never worked for me using the above method. The thing is, my phat console only has two ports, so not sure why that particular port is showing as 006. For anyone having issues with dumping just make sure to check all the ports I guess.
Very Great tutorial!!!!! I've been out of the mod business ps3 for awhile. However, had a old CECHK system without a BD drive. With out CFW I cant remarry a working new one. I just wanted to put it out there that this is not just for backup games or Piracy.....We all need this stuff to be able to rebuild old systems since Sony wanted to make it proprietary.....thanks for the help man. Not sure if I can get this to work or not on 4.91, but at least i have a chance now
Got it done, but an extra half hour longer than the video. Some important steps really need to come earlier in the video, like checking which console version for the NOR/NAND dump.
I've done that in previous videos and people will still ask questions about the NAND/NOR flash, get confused, or just blow past it and on older revisions end up bricking their consoles. Best way to check it is through software which the website does, and that's not possible without the prerequisites like installing HFW.
I believe the CECH-25 models are moddable I have the B one and just saw this video and jailbroken it. If you follow everything precisely in this video you'll be successful. Thank you so much I subbed ❤
Doing it on my newly aquried 90nm CECHA12, that had artifacts when it got back from 1080p to 480p once, never saw it again. This was half an hour ago. Cross your fingers. HEN is 50% installed already. I see no issues here EDIT: EVILNAT Splashscreen just came in. Yaaay. Now if it dies, I can safely frankie it with fresh fw. Thanks Mario!
i have been following this tutorial step by step for a couple of minutes, however at 17:27 even though i have a slim it gave me an error whenever i selected nor out of desperation i tried selecting nand and its surprisingly working, now i don't know if this will end up badly on the long run but i'll edit this comment when i finish edit: turns out i'm dumb, i just needed to install hfw once again, nor worked and now i have a jailbroken ps3, much love kind internet guy ❤❤❤

Hi, your tutorials are great as always (I already hacked my super slim using your 2024 HEN video). Right now I'm working with a PS3 slim that has a broken wifi/bluetooth module. I saw in your PS3 Toolset video from 4 months ago the CFW page had more options to choose from (most notably the noBT version), but I can't seem to find them on the current version of the page or the MEGA folder. Is there any version of the CFW in the current MEGA folder that would work without wifi/bt?
Not that I know of unless you find a mirror of it. Unfortunately this method won't work for you due to the HFW update, so you'd probably have to wait until PS3 Toolset is live.
Hey Mr. Mario, it seems when i try to type the address for the 4.91 Flash Writer the ps3 doesn't allow me to type the last bit of the address "/flashwriter" does that mean i messed up somewhere? Thanks in advance.
also for those using chrome and its blocking the .PUP file from downloading you can simply open the link on an incognito tab and the download should start w no issues

I did not read this in the description, "ANY PS3 MODEL HIGHER THAN 25XX WILL NOT WORK! This includes newer Slim (30XX) models and all Super Slim models." I guess I will try another tutorial from you.
OKAYYY. I just updated my ps3 date and time. It was 1/1/2012 before. and after i updated via internet to updated date of today. it got pass through the initial error 807.... i guess the aldos server did not like it that the time is wrong

Hey, I followed every step exactly as you described and installed the CFW. Then I ran every check to make sure it was all good and everything seemed to be pefect (MD5 and PyPS3) but I ran into a problem after installing mM. I tried to rip Silent Hill 2 and got an error but dismissed it assuming it was because its a PS2 disc. I then put Metal Gear Rising in, installed it and then jumped into mM to copy it to the HDD. It seemed to work until I tried to play it. The PS3(CECHA) seemed to crash and wouldnt let me do anything except "Quit Game". I then reset the PS3 and opened mM again. Now I cannot do anything inside of mM. The console seems to have removed the ability to use most buttons (tried 2 different working OEM controllers). I can only press L1, R1, Triangle and X. When I press R1/L1 I can cycle through the format mM displays. When I try to open MGR from hdd in mM I get an error saying "USB.CFG configuration not found" and to remove any USB and reconfigure the file. I then an error saying "NTFS hdd auto-detection failed Please create a proper USB.CFG file with vendor/device descriptors and save it as /dev_hdd0/games/BLES80608/USRDIR/USB.CFG". I tried to reinstall the CFW from USB in Safemode which seemed to work. I cant use the "Start" button in anything now. I formatted, booted back into CFW and ran setup again but the problem persists.
Sorry to hear about the troubles, it sounds like your controllers might need some maintenance done like a good internal cleaning. If you want to determine that, you could try to hook up another controller such as a PS4 controller through USB and verify all the buttons on it work. If that's the case, it would be your PS3 controllers causing the issues, not the console.
@@MrMario2011I wasn't trying to bad mouth your video, it was great and helped a ton. The double checks made me feel very confident in the entire process. I have collected video games for over 40 years and my controllers are clean. I clean my hands religously, especially when touching electronics and never eat while gaming. It seemes to me that either I did something wrong during the copying of MGR or in the couple settings I changed in mM (I believe I turned the theme music off and enabled debugging. It was immediately following the copy of the game. I just did a slow format and the controllers are both working perfectly again, cementing the fact that it was software. Unfortunately I need to reinstall the CFW but it'll be a breeze now that I know the process thoroughly, thanks to your video. Thank you for the video and for your help.
Please keep in mind to setup correct date and time, otherwise you get problems with downloading " "An error occured during the download operation 80710A06 " and get the message ""The security of the page cannot be confirmed. The certificate provided by the server has expired or is not yet valid. Do you want to connect ?".
Everything went how it should except the flash dump didnt show up on flash drive when plugged back into Pc at 22.44 mark. Fix was using the right usb slot not the left.
Finally gotten it to be jailbroken, does the flash drive still need to be in and/or have the files that were in this video still or can I take it out and use it for other purposes like storages or to port games?

Very detailed and good tutorial... everything went normal with me except I keep getting Corrupted Data message during the CFW installation. Any idea how to fix it? I tried in safe mode and with PEX and CEX. Always get the Corrupted Data message during installation.
Everytime i go to do the firmware update, it gets to %70 and then says there was an error and that the data is corrupted, is there a fix to this? please help if possible

PS3 Toolset is fantastic, but having an option to do it all locally is always nice.

if it doesnt show up on the right usb port make sure u try the left usb port and before u try and wing it i suggest u redo the steps starting from 14:40 (obviously using dev_0001)

Thank you for the video; I did it with my PS3 BC, and it worked correctly. Now, there’s a minor inconvenience: physical PS2 discs aren’t detected instantly, and I have to start the console by inserting the disc into the tray. I’m not sure if it’s due to the CFW or WebMan

You won't be able to easily verify the flash dump. No need to buy a Windows PC when you can run a VM or Bootcamp

Hi, your tutorials are great as always (I already hacked my super slim using your 2024 HEN video). Right now I'm working with a PS3 slim that has a broken wifi/bluetooth module. I saw in your PS3 Toolset video from 4 months ago the CFW page had more options to choose from (most notably the noBT version), but I can't seem to find them on the current version of the page or the MEGA folder. Is there any version of the CFW in the current MEGA folder that would work without wifi/bt?
Not that I know of unless you find a mirror of it. Unfortunately this method won't work for you due to the HFW update, so you'd probably have to wait until PS3 Toolset is live.

Hey Mr. Mario, it seems when i try to type the address for the 4.91 Flash Writer the ps3 doesn't allow me to type the last bit of the address "/flashwriter" does that mean i messed up somewhere? Thanks in advance.
Edit for others: just type the whole website without the
"/flashwriter" and edit it in afterwards.

also for those using chrome and its blocking the .PUP file from downloading you can simply open the link on an incognito tab and the download should start w no issues

Im getting this error:"Patch operation aborted due to patch file hash mismatch" when trying to flash write. I am using a FAT ps3 CECHC04 so i am choosing NAND. I have reconstructed database already but still not working. Anyone knows how to solve this?
Clear all of your browser data and try again. The patch file download is corrupted.

When i downloaded the CFW it was not a file i could extract instead something like the mulitman file.
You need extraction software if it's an archive.

I did not read this in the description, "ANY PS3 MODEL HIGHER THAN 25XX WILL NOT WORK! This includes newer Slim (30XX) models and all Super Slim models." I guess I will try another tutorial from you.
OKAYYY. I just updated my ps3 date and time. It was 1/1/2012 before. and after i updated via internet to updated date of today. it got pass through the initial error 807.... i guess the aldos server did not like it that the time is wrong

Hey, I followed every step exactly as you described and installed the CFW. Then I ran every check to make sure it was all good and everything seemed to be pefect (MD5 and PyPS3) but I ran into a problem after installing mM. I tried to rip Silent Hill 2 and got an error but dismissed it assuming it was because its a PS2 disc. I then put Metal Gear Rising in, installed it and then jumped into mM to copy it to the HDD. It seemed to work until I tried to play it.
The PS3(CECHA) seemed to crash and wouldnt let me do anything except "Quit Game". I then reset the PS3 and opened mM again. Now I cannot do anything inside of mM. The console seems to have removed the ability to use most buttons (tried 2 different working OEM controllers). I can only press L1, R1, Triangle and X. When I press R1/L1 I can cycle through the format mM displays. When I try to open MGR from hdd in mM I get an error saying "USB.CFG configuration not found" and to remove any USB and reconfigure the file. I then an error saying "NTFS hdd auto-detection failed Please create a proper USB.CFG file with vendor/device descriptors and save it as /dev_hdd0/games/BLES80608/USRDIR/USB.CFG".
I tried to reinstall the CFW from USB in Safemode which seemed to work. I cant use the "Start" button in anything now. I formatted, booted back into CFW and ran setup again but the problem persists.
Sorry to hear about the troubles, it sounds like your controllers might need some maintenance done like a good internal cleaning.
If you want to determine that, you could try to hook up another controller such as a PS4 controller through USB and verify all the buttons on it work. If that's the case, it would be your PS3 controllers causing the issues, not the console.
@@MrMario2011I wasn't trying to bad mouth your video, it was great and helped a ton. The double checks made me feel very confident in the entire process.
I have collected video games for over 40 years and my controllers are clean. I clean my hands religously, especially when touching electronics and never eat while gaming. It seemes to me that either I did something wrong during the copying of MGR or in the couple settings I changed in mM (I believe I turned the theme music off and enabled debugging. It was immediately following the copy of the game.
I just did a slow format and the controllers are both working perfectly again, cementing the fact that it was software. Unfortunately I need to reinstall the CFW but it'll be a breeze now that I know the process thoroughly, thanks to your video.

Everything went how it should except the flash dump didnt show up on flash drive when plugged back into Pc at 22.44 mark.
Fix was using the right usb slot not the left.
Which is what I said? 000 is the furthest to the right.

Very detailed and good tutorial... everything went normal with me except I keep getting Corrupted Data message during the CFW installation. Any idea how to fix it? I tried in safe mode and with PEX and CEX. Always get the Corrupted Data message during installation.

I had the same issue. I deleted the .pup file on the usb drive, then redid the steps and this fixed it for me. Hope this works for you too
