What app can i install to play DS games? I have created a DS folder in the SD root with come roms inside. Since FBI is for 3Ds games(.cia) wich program can i use for the DS roms?
I'd say 4GB is the minimum as you can only get a few (3-4) games on there with that kind of size. I say upgrade to 32GB (or 64) if you want games that have higher gig
Nintendo recently forced the best ones (inc Vimms Lair) to remove their files. The Internet Archive is probably your best bet. Or try the search term 'rom megathread'.
I see that the only file left of the release file is the boot9strap folder. Do I have to delete the other files myself or did something go wrong during the removing part in the mset9.bat program?

If you leave all the files as they are and add in the homebrew stuff you should be OK (I think). I would advise making a backup copy of the sd card and using that in the hacking process so you have your original SD card untouched as a backup.

Hello, appreciate the very thorough guide! Just a question, does it not work if I click red X button to close the Mset9 script? I can’t seem to exit the mset9 script by pressing “entre” key as mentioned in the official guide. Thanks
Make sure you've got Python installed and the path to the Python executable in your system Path. You could try running the terminal window as an administrator just in case there's a permission error. It's strange you got through the first steps though.
I've solved the problem by trying in other pc. But I still don't know what was the problem. Just waiting for the game finish to install to can play. Thanks for the attention :)
The exploit I use in this video does need a PC. There are alternatives though which might not. Have a look on the guide page. You onyl need to PC for the initial exploit so if you can borrow a laptop or something to get it installed you'll be fine on Linux or Mac after that.
can u provide any mac alternatives? partition wizard doesn't run on mac. would also be cool if the written tutorial was as in-depth about needing python, formatting etc. but i have the new 3ds so maybe its not needed? it would be helpful to know whats needed for both or just the mset9, or maybe even just having s skaterhax section that goes over things
I don't use a Mac so don't know what's available. Try searching for a partition manager, or disk manager. The 3DS guide pages should take you through everything. I don't have access to a new 3DS so couldn't show that route.
Ugh, when I tried inserting the payload/trigger file with the 3DS still on, the spring pushed it back out. Now my computer is not recognizing the SD card. 😞

Hi i recently purchased an old 3ds, the first model actually, really cheap, it seams that it wasnt used that much, it has a really old firmware installed (4.3.0-0u) and has never been hacked before, should i update it first? or i can follow the steps just as it is? Thank you in advance

I bought a New 2DS XL (just before they ceased production) for the sole purpose of modding it. The hack is even easier now. I see you have a C64 on your desk. The Vice3DS emulator turns the 3DS/2DS into a very nice portable C64 with the 2nd screen being utilized for the interface and virtual keyboard.
PLEASE make sure your region for these are correct! it took me forever to realise my region was in France since that's where I got it and it didn't work!

I did this on my already-used 3ds, but it simply gets stuck infinitely loading instead of booting into safeinstaller. I checked the troubleshooting, and the only things it suggests is either to try again or to clear and reformat the sd card. The only thing I might have messed up is the mset9 setup section of the guide, which wasn't mentioned here and did not show up when I used it. Can anyone help?
I'd try reformatting it all and starting over. Sometimes it doesn't work first time but just try again until it does. Make sure to re download the software as well just to make sure.

All the most popular consoles are hackable, I think the manufacturers know that allowing hacking increases sales. My 3DS XL already had games on the memory card but recently they’ve not been loading.

I'm pretty sure you can just copy all the files from the old sd card to the new and it should work. I don't think there's any special formatting on the sd cards.
If you get a fail at this stage you might need to repeat the process and rebuild the hack file. Check the hack guide website for more advice on what to do if it goes wrong.
I don't think the WiFi connection causes any issues with the 3DS. Only if you try to log in to the Nintendo store which I don't think you can from the 3DS any more.
If you've bought a new one it will probably be formatted as FAT32 but you should try to format it if you can to make sure it's the correct cluster size etc.

If all this was done on a 32gb sd card and you want to upgrade to a 64gb card is it a case of just formatting it and copying the files across from the smaller card or does something else need to happen?
I did try that and can see luma when the new card is inserted but none of the homebrew or games although all files are there. I followed your steps from finalise to get the homebrew and had to reload all the games. Oddly I can't see my f: drive since formatting the 64gb card to fat32 so not sure what's going on there.
Make sure you add the Python folder to your path variable - settings - search for path - edit system environment variables. Make sure you check out a video on how to update the settings.

You need to check that you've got all the files in the correct place and the correct version of the hack downloaded for your console. Then start the process again. Hope it works next time.
Not all of the apps we install in the video show up as Homebrew. Once you start to install other apps some of those should pop up in the homebrew launcher.
Hi, after completing the Godmode9 finaliser my sd card is not able to be read. Do you have any advice on how to fix this? My Nintendo nor my computer can read it and I’m unsure of how to proceed.

I really don't know. You'd need to check around online to see how to get your pokemon out. There might be some files you can copy over which this setup will let you do, but it's not a topic I've come across.
I honestly don't know. I haven't tried that combination. I suspect (but again don't know) that it will either work as normal or be ignored, but probably won't affect the R4 card. Again this is just a guess!
Hi! I've been trying to mod my system (3DS XL) for a while now and everything seems to go right for me until the end part (16:24) When I put my SD card back in after putting MSET9 on it, nothing happens. It just pulls up my regular DS files. Do you have any solutions for this? Thank you :)
Make sure you've followed the steps precisely. Check you've selected the right model for the setup process. If all is fine check the troubleshooting guide.
This is such a good guide, but I'm having an issue that maybe someone can help with. New 2DS, everything going smoothly until i'm supposed to load up that Godmode9 for the first time. Hold start, push power - and the home screen loads. I've put the finalizehelper.firm into the payloads folder (double checked spelling), in the luma folder. I've done all the steps up to this point successfully. Anyone have any idea what may be going on? I'm not super technical, so i'm not sure how to troubleshoot
I think in theory it's 2TB but I know some people have said it slows down the system with very large cards. I haven't tried this out but 64-128GB seems to be a good choice. Lots of room for games.
Nintendo closes the eShop.. then we open up the console to do what we want. I just recently found my 3DS that I had since launch and was suprised it still worked. However I must have used the SD card that was originally in there years ago for something else as its no longer in the console. I know I had a lot of digital purchases on that SD Card thinking it be alright I could just download them again. Nope, Nintendo stole that right from me, so I should have every right to steal them back. Of course I don't condone piracy, I would have gladly gone to the eShop, redownloaded all my games legally and continue to purchase more.. but it seems Nintendo no longer wants my money for these games. So it's fair play in my eyes.

Your 3DS should be hacked. You probably just need to rebuild the SD card. Have a look at the hack guide. It should show you how to check if the hack is still in place and show you what to do.

Yes. You can install .3ds files in a range of ways. This video shows the easiest way to get the games onto the system. I do plan to do other videos showing 3ds files but it's on a ever expanding list of todos!
i used this guide and it worked fine for 2 3d's consoles. However when i tryed with my 3. 3ds i get stuck in the loading of extra data screen. and it doesn't recognize when i take out the sd cart. As it did the fist times. Any tips?

I have an issue were after injecting the SD card and putting it in my 2ds just nothing happened and it said no SD card was not found.
Sometimes it's easier to start from scratch again and see it it works the next time round.

I have a 32b SD card with games already installed from the eshop. If I homebrew that SD card will they be deleted?

Your game saves should all be fine but if you've got an SD card already in the console make sure to back it up first, just in case.

i found out, you must keep the 2 files: boot.3dsx and boot.firm on the root of the SD card for it to work

It's really easy to format an SD card via Windows CMD using _diskpart_ to any format.
Yes. I made a video on it a while back, but I think a lot of people get put off by the command line. Partition Wizard just makes it a bit easier.

At 13:30 it's not giving me the choice to reset. It just says, "There is no accessible software data." I did everything up to there.
I'd restart the hack and try again. It looks like something has gone wrong. It doesn't always work first time.

Copying all the files should be OK
I did try that and can see luma when the new card is inserted but none of the homebrew or games although all files are there. I followed your steps from finalise to get the homebrew and had to reload all the games. Oddly I can't see my f: drive since formatting the 64gb card to fat32 so not sure what's going on there.
i downloaded python from the website but when i open the mset9 folder from the sd card, it says python 3 isn’t downloaded, am i doing something wrong?
Make sure you add the Python folder to your path variable - settings - search for path - edit system environment variables. Make sure you check out a video on how to update the settings.
Is it okay to use a 32gb sd card? I only plan on adding 3Ds and ds games to my old 3Ds.
32GB will be fine. The Homebrew code only takes up a couple of GB.

You need to get the files into the correct format before using FBI. Try looking for cia file downloads.

I would say definitely! You can buy it used and sell it for the same price if you don’t use it anymore
As @changein3d says they are great fun and the price will stay pretty much the same if you take care of it.

That's a good question. Nintendo have been forcing a number of sites to take down their Nintendo files. You'll need to search around.
hey i need some help, i followed everything you did and when i got to the point of holding down the start button on booting up to enter god mode, it doesn't and goes straight to the home screen... please help
You need to check that you've got all the files in the correct place and the correct version of the hack downloaded for your console. Then start the process again. Hope it works next time.

Not all of the apps we install in the video show up as Homebrew. Once you start to install other apps some of those should pop up in the homebrew launcher.

Hi, after completing the Godmode9 finaliser my sd card is not able to be read. Do you have any advice on how to fix this? My Nintendo nor my computer can read it and I’m unsure of how to proceed.
If the card is corrupted you'll need to get a new one and then follow the guide again from the start.
If you download a software like Rufus 4.0 you can probably reformat your drive and make it readable again. Make sure to format it as FAT32 though

Check you've got everything saved in the correct folders. Check the folder names.

you must keep the 2 files: boot.3dsx and boot.firm on the root of the SD card for it to work

I really don't know. You'd need to check around online to see how to get your pokemon out. There might be some files you can copy over which this setup will let you do, but it's not a topic I've come across.

I honestly don't know. I haven't tried that combination. I suspect (but again don't know) that it will either work as normal or be ignored, but probably won't affect the R4 card. Again this is just a guess!

Hi! I've been trying to mod my system (3DS XL) for a while now and everything seems to go right for me until the end part (16:24) When I put my SD card back in after putting MSET9 on it, nothing happens. It just pulls up my regular DS files. Do you have any solutions for this? Thank you :)
Make sure you've followed the steps precisely. Check you've selected the right model for the setup process. If all is fine check the troubleshooting guide.
This is such a good guide, but I'm having an issue that maybe someone can help with. New 2DS, everything going smoothly until i'm supposed to load up that Godmode9 for the first time. Hold start, push power - and the home screen loads. I've put the finalizehelper.firm into the payloads folder (double checked spelling), in the luma folder. I've done all the steps up to this point successfully. Anyone have any idea what may be going on? I'm not super technical, so i'm not sure how to troubleshoot

What’s the largest sd card you can use in the new 3Ds LL/XL?
I think in theory it's 2TB but I know some people have said it slows down the system with very large cards. I haven't tried this out but 64-128GB seems to be a good choice. Lots of room for games.

Nintendo closes the eShop.. then we open up the console to do what we want.
I just recently found my 3DS that I had since launch and was suprised it still worked. However I must have used the SD card that was originally in there years ago for something else as its no longer in the console.
I know I had a lot of digital purchases on that SD Card thinking it be alright I could just download them again.
Nope, Nintendo stole that right from me, so I should have every right to steal them back.
Of course I don't condone piracy, I would have gladly gone to the eShop, redownloaded all my games legally and continue to purchase more.. but it seems Nintendo no longer wants my money for these games. So it's fair play in my eyes.

Your 3DS should be hacked. You probably just need to rebuild the SD card. Have a look at the hack guide. It should show you how to check if the hack is still in place and show you what to do.

Yes. You can install .3ds files in a range of ways. This video shows the easiest way to get the games onto the system. I do plan to do other videos showing 3ds files but it's on a ever expanding list of todos!
i used this guide and it worked fine for 2 3d's consoles. However when i tryed with my 3. 3ds i get stuck in the loading of extra data screen. and it doesn't recognize when i take out the sd cart. As it did the fist times. Any tips?
Did you go through the model selection process to make sure you got the right hack process. I'm not sure how much variation there is.

If you take it slow and are careful it's not too hard. Just make sure you watch the video through so you understand what you have to do.

Did the modding process work. Can you get it booting up with the modded SD card?
