I see everyone hating on the size. However for my 8" wrist this watch is spectacular. Looks amazing on the wrist.
I don't understand why brands simply don't release several sizing options. For you, this watch looks amazing but for most wrists it's too big. More people would buy the watch if it were available in different sizes. I sure as hell know that I would be owning one if it were
You bragging about your size? 😂
@@jimmski9908 LOL, Only time I am on the too big spectrum. Got to take advantage
Who cares lol
Ah, an advantage to me having 8 inch of girth, excellent. Just bought a Presage Power reserve, I think for travelling, this is my next watch....
I bought a few months ago the blue version of this watch and I love it! Been a true gmt for this amount of money is a huge plus, the movement is very accurate, the case is well finished! In direct sunlight the dial and it’s components pop’s! It’s a large watch but in my 7.5” wrist looks amazing. I really recommend this one!
Hi, from your 2 years experience with this watch, is the watch doing fine? Do you facing any problem with this watch? I'm looking to get one. Thanks
@@eugenebetterman hi, the watch is doing fine, still one of my favorites! Keeps time very accurate and looks very nice after two years. I can’t recommend it enough!
I paid 925 USD for this exact model today and I must say its awesome, I have big arms and big wrists so it fits me perfectly, this watch has a masculine presence because of its size, the build quality is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good watch that's not too pricey.
Where??
I have the blue nylon strap model with blue bezel. Simply perfect in every way. I also bought the bracelet and love it even more. The extension “on the fly” its the best in the market so far in my opinion. Doesn’t feel that big really, and I absolutely loved the fact that they kept the “diver bezel” More functional in my opinion than the 24 click one. And you have that inner bezel with the 24 hour so for me it’s a win win.
I’ve got the same but it seems to be racing ahead on accuracy. How accurate is yours?
@@mwade6982 for the powermatic 80 movement +\- 15-20seconds its expectable. But I have found that its running pretty accurate for what it is. Somedays + 3 to 5 seconds, never galling behind. (It’s better to fast than slow for me I guess) For an automatic watch on this price thats impressive, it’s COSC standards, although its not a COSC certified watch. My only small issue with it is I wish it was smaller. But great watch
@@luisdiegoperez1786 thanks. Looks like I’m running at +20 seconds which puts this less accurate than some super cheap watches I own. I guess I could get it regulated but somewhat surprised given that it’s only a few weeks old.
This is a great choice for the “check all the boxes” collector because its a functional dive watch but the GMT also allows it to serve as an excellent Vacation/Travelers watch. Also, it’s not super expensive or rare, so you wouldn’t have to worry too much about it being stolen or lost while on vacation.
That was exactly what I am thinking when I bought this watch to be a daily beater/travel watch. It has everything! Great looks, features and build quality at a price that makes you really wear the hell out of the watch instead of keeping it in a safe,
Furthermore, diving usually involves traveling --except if you live where you dive. OTOH, I wouldn't use mine as a dive watch save as a backup; it's too fine a watch. Computer watches like Suunto D5 are very travel friendly and manage your dives very well. I should say it's more a _statement_ (like in "I'm a diver") than what one would use to manage an immersion.
which is funny because watches that "check all the boxes" rarely make anyone happy
Exactly!! I was looking for EXACTLY this as a do it all watch, since any time I travel I end up in the water. But this thing is beautiful enough to wear to dinner later that night. 2 years after this video is released and it’s still the only automatic GMT diver I e found under $1k. This is looking like my next watch.
Man that thing is a beauty. What a crying shame it's not available in a 40 mm
yep. too many oversized watches nowadays
I swear.. such a shame 😞
Still can’t understand why…
Even 42mm would work for most wrist sizes. Great value for money watch otherwise.
@@renaud_ Maybe it has something to do with the movement size.
The size - yes, it's a big watch, but on my 19cm/7.5" wrist, which seems to be pretty average, it would likely be acceptable, but like many commenters, I'd prefer 40mm. My biggest gripe here is the AR coating applied to the outside of the crystal. While the sapphire itself won't scratch easily, the coating will, and over time, it will likely wear poorly, resulting in a splotchy appearance. I'd much rather deal with the slightly greater reflectivity of an uncoated outer surface. It's a watch, not a camera lens.
Not everyone has skinny wrists and not looking for a 39/40mm watch. Plus the 44 wears like a 42. Now if this was 15mm thick, we'd have a problem.
I purchased my Mido GMT this month (March 2022) and I like it better than my Seiko watches I have. My Mito GMT keeps better time (+ 4 SPD) than any automatic watch I have in my collection. The Mito GMT wears well, nice fit and finish. Mito GMT has a the eighty hour reserve, I have a 7.5" wrist...
Beautiful watch, not overly bulky like a lot of dive watches out there. Very well done.
So much discussion about this 44 vs. 40 mm pain. I have MIDO Ocean Star on silver bracelet and it wears just perfect. I like the watch to have a presence on man's wrist. According to me, this is one incredibly beautiful watch, with amazing ceramic bezel, glossy black dial seen through anti reflective sapphire glass, quality bracelet with fine clasp - and all these wrapped with a true GMT mechanism (max. 4s/day) and 80 hours power reserve (!) into a Swiss made package for not more than 950 EUR. To be honest - I am a SEIKO fan for years, but I couldn't find a comparable, high quality, eye catching watch of this size (44mm) in 2022 from Seiko. So I picked this Swiss beauty, and I love it all the way. Price performance - hat off.
Maybe the best value in Swiss automatics today. Great work Teddy.
Hello sir, I know my opinion is a little late to the party looking at the date of your review, I do find you give great opinions and the watches you review are for the everyday, which to me are the best watches. I purchased my MIDO OCEAN STAR GMT BLUE VERSION back on 9/18/2020 and it wasn't in the USA yet, so I searched for it in CHRONO24 and I found an A.D. out of Germany. (Now the watch is all over the US). I must say I love the watch , I rank it equal in love as my other GMT watches.
Two (2) Glycine Airman 42mm Black dial/ 44mm White dial, 2020 Tudor BB GMT & 2016 Rolex Batman. I find the MIDO more to the equal of the Tudor brand in my opinion. So since owning this watch about year of wear. I had to have the watch serviced. due to the HOUR hand stopped moving, upon return from service the watch wasn't manual winding so I had to send it back again. Swatch group told me they extended my warranty by two more years after service. I was ok with that. So let's zoom forward to today , I rotate wearing my watches so each watch I wear about a week or so unless I have a special event and then I go to a more dress/formal watch. Yesterday I went to set my MIDO and found out now the SECOND HAND is no longer working. I have written to MIDO and told them of my past issues and so far they sent me a return shipping label pre-paid, to send in for service . I also suggested if this is going to happen ever year or so I would like they to replace the watch with a new one, but I know this is a fantasy. I was told on another review that the earlier versions of this watch had issues, I guess I am unlucky and got one of those watches. I hope they fix the problem. Because I am not ready to take it out of my rotation, But what's funny is I purchased the watch as a travel/beater watch to destinations you don't feel safe wear the pride and joy watches, Once I started wearing this watch I really 100% enjoyed and would be very upset to stop wearing it, It really has a nice presence on your wrist and great conversation piece too. Again thanks for the videos and a place to vent lolololol. All the best.
I’ve had the orange and black on the bracelet for a while now. It’s fabulous, love it, very versatile and accurate. It’s in my regular rotation, and probably my most frequently worn watch. It is large but it does wear smaller than I thought it would on my 7 1/4 inch wrist. Love this piece, I’m thinking of getting the Blue version for a NATO strap to take diving and serve as my beater watch while travelling. Nice one Mido, this watch is amazing value.
Same size wrist here. I tried one on today. fits well and wears smaller than some of my other divers stated at 43-44 mm. Did you check the accuracy?
@@Wayne-q1v6l did not check accuracy but seems to be fine, much better than my 20+ yr old SEIKO SKX😅
Love my OS in blue. A total bargin for the build quality, functions and movement. Have had so many compliments about my OS. A rock solid piece at a steal of a price.
I have this watch. I have about 20 watches in the $300 to $1K range and it is definitely my favorite
Hi, from your 2 years ownership, is the watch recommended? Is the watch doing fine?
Yes
Hi Teddy, Outstanding review and Video. I just ordered the Mido GMT. Please, keep up the good work! Thanks Dirk
Seriously considering this one. Love the look of the Ocean Star. No one can claim it has a "Rolex" homage look.
With a lug to lug just under 50mm, this watch wears like the 42mm Seamaster 300m.
I missed that lug to lug part, thanks for pointing it out! Now I might have to try this watch in person
This is a gorgeous watch. I absolutely love the 24-hour markings on the rehaut. What is the wrist size of the person wearing it during the wrist-shots? Edit: Nevermind, saw it was highlighted in the video.
I love this. I would get the blue one and get a bracelet. I would love it if the blue one could come with a bracelet.
Great review, and i just purchased this watch from you!
Excellent value for a GMT.
Hi Teddy, This watch is overall very good looking and dressy as well. Mido has to improve the bezel function and allignment. Would prefer applied indices and 40 mm size, with upgraded movement that will take Mido to a much higher level. Also the AR coating should be from the inside. Many Thanks for the precise review.
Hi Ahmad, does this watch have bezel function and alignment problem ? Would u mind to explain it a little bit detail ? Since I plan to buy it. Thank you
It wears more like 42.
So much of watch for $1000 US.
Love my blue face with blue strap.
Next time, Can you just show us how it looks on a small wrist as well? mine is only 6.3inch so I wanna see how it looks.
Just ordered this from your website...can't wait!!!
Nice watch. Would like it just a shade smaller. Good vid. Keep at it!
Thanks Teddy, a great budget money GMT watch from Mido.
Glad you enjoyed it. The watch offers a lot of value!
@@TeddyBaldassarreReviews Starting from Longines Zulu Time introduced by you 2 months ago, I became a GMT addict. I just brought the Seiko SSK003 GMT last week (this is the 3rd lot in Hong Kong, HK$700 dropped in price).
I am looking for the third GMT may be be brought by end of this year. This Mido Ocean Star GMT or the Ball Outlier GMT may be my choice. May be the else others. All introduced by you. You are a great watch seller and youtuber.
great channel ,Teddy hust got this watch ,was really disappointed in the bracelet ,its terrible just cheap ,have to get a strap what would you suggest thanks
Hey Teddy, what is better choice Mido OS 600 or Certina DS actuon diver with ceramic bezel?
Nice video. Would you mind to make another one comparing it with the Seiko Presage sharp edge GMT?
Will 100% buy this!!!!!!! When it’s a 40 mm 🙄
Almost everything about this watch is perfect. Fantastic build quality, well-priced and good looking. The one thing that is devastatingly wrong though is the hands. The GMT hand is far too large for its function as a secondary complication. It should be much more discrete. The skeletonizing of the minute hand reduces its legibility even in broad daylight. Viewing the time in the dark is almost impossible. The huge lume section on the GMT hands obscures the applied markers, and the lume potion of the minute hand gets completely lost in front of the markers, and is outshone by the GMT lume. I bought this watch because I like Mido, they are good watches, and I needed a diver/GMT for my diving trips abroad, but I’ve found that I don’t like it much because of it’s legibility.
That is a beauty. Given I can wear larger watches, I'd prefer that to either a Submariner or a GMT-Master.
i have 7.5 wrist and its perfect size. the longines GMT was too small for me
Happy owner of the blue version. Love it!
A bit broad but I love the styling.
Would surely consider this as it's a beauty, if my wrist size could have taken it.
However, something irks me. Is it an optical illusion or are some of the digits on the bezel slightly skewed? To my eyes the two digits in each pair appear slightly misaligned. Is it difficult to precision-engrave two digits next to each other so that they line up? Not taking a pop specifically at MIDO, as I perceive this in pictures of dive bezels on many different watches, and even with some of my own watches. Examples which (to me) appear to do it "right" are Omega Seamaster and Christopher Ward C60, as they have deliberately followed the curvature of the bezel.
Noticed the same thing. I think it's an illusion caused by the raised indices. Straight on, things look fine, but as you look off axis, parallax makes the GMT indication appear out of alignment.
Great looking watch. Mido and Certina are so under rated...
Just bought it today! It’s amazing!
one day delivery?
@@RobertoCarlos-tn1iq 2
Just bought this for my 30th birthday. Well worth the money compared to Seiko Sharp Edge GMT
Hi, Ted, please do a review on the current Seiko Sumo GMT. I think it could be the new best value true GMT today 😃
Blue one has two tone split face dark and light blue shows day at night.
The certina ds action gmt uses the same movement as this and is a couple of mm smaller...
Certina says it is 43.1mm, so not really much smaller than the 44mm of this one. It is a bit cheaper but I find this one is much better looking.
Certina doesn't have GMT function.
Should I get the Ocean Star GMT or The Ocean Star 600 Chronometer?
Please Review the Mido Ocean Star Tribute, You rock Teddy!!!
Make this at 40mm and you'd have them flying off the shelves. As it is...Dive sized watch...GMT's are supposed to be as 'everyday' as you can get while being as versatile as situations you encounter during travel. This is too chunky to serve that purpose...give me 40mm and I'd pay 2x the current ask for it. Steinhart wins in this category at this price with their 39 or 42 even...
not everybody has a wrist suited for such a small watch though. my wrist is 9 inches plus and a 39 is very small and looks weird on my wrist! But for most people you are correct!
Now you can get the limited version of Hodinkee x Mido GMT in 40.5mm case and a better overall design!
@@sv66060 I would suggest you have a wrist on the 10% spectrum...not enough of a market to design a full production run. You are lucky though, the past trend of the last decade has been the 42-45 mm chunks of watch.
Love this watch - just picked this up last week - and haven’t taken off - lol
It’s just a bummer that it has a dive bezel vs a gmt 24 bezel. I’d own at least one if they had that option
Been waiting for you to review this! Love the blue model - just worried about the size. Hard to find this in person to get a good look.
I got the one with the blue gmt hand it doesn’t wear too big, I love it!
Teddy. Is the shop gonna get an allotment of the Ocean Star Decompression 1961?
Does anyone know of a true GMT under 40mm case diameter? Preferably quartz with no chrono. Thanks!
Great review, I want one now
Where do you buy those shirts? They look good. Keep up the good work!
Bummer beautiful watch but too large for my wrist..... the colorway reminds me of the fortis f-39.
I'm thinking about purchasing this Mido Ocean Star GMT, and also considering Oris Aquis, I know the aquis is not a GMT, but putting this aside, as is not a deal breaker for me...which watch would you go for? both comes in similar size, I'm not sure which one has the most reliable movement, I will appreciate the recommendation from this great watch community.
Perhaps you already made your decision - anyway, I have MIDO Ocean Star GMT(M026.629.11.051.01) - accuracy + 4 s/day (1 year of use), 80 hours power reserve is a luxury. Very satisfied. Unfortunately I do not own any Oris, so I can not compare those.
Mine is on leather blue bracelet/blue bezel and is stunning 😍
Will you do a review on the Oceanstar 600 anytime soon?
Please: make this 40-41, put a 24 bezel (and do odd numbers on the chapter ring so you’re not doubling up) and it becomes the perfect piece. Charge an extra $500usd and I’d still buy it with those changes!
Me too..
I bought a few replica Breitlings. Should have just bought one of these.
Can I put a silicon strap on the two tone ocean star gmt?
Hi Teddy, may you please review the Faberge new Altruist Wilderness Watches?
As everyone is saying make it 40mm and take my money
I’ll buy this watch tomorrow
Nice piece Teddy.
Why do they offer 2 year warranty an watches except the 600m version with cosc movement??
I mean that only for cosc one they give 5 years...
Thats a very good looking piece. One I would enjoy
Thanks for the review. Nice watch, but 44x49.5 mm is way too big for most people to look good. I'd say it looks big on your wrist too.
I don't get why they make these so big?? Their Hoodinkee one is like 40.5mm, they can obviously make them a more wearable size.
Thx for helping out! Maybe buy it…
wow teddy had 3 videos on this watch
Quartz available?
Hi big fan man
This is stunning, but just too big at 44. At 40 this would be perfect. It looks a tad big on you as well. Such a shame manufacturers are still churning out these oversized cases. It limits their market to guys over 7.5 inch wrists.
Seiko presage has 1400 true gmt but can be found cheaper
I wonder how this will look in my 9" wrist
What a beautiful watch! stunning! I would consider it if it was a bit smaller
Absolutely love it. But please please please please ask Mido to make a 38/39mm version!
Very cool watch but 44mm is just too big for regular wear. At least for me. 42mm would've been perfect.
I’ve heard it wears like a 42mm due to curved lugs and shorter comparative lug to lug
Very nice piece.
Stellar video
Wish it was a 42.
Would it be too big for an 18cm (7.1 inch) wrist? Someone help, please?
I guess, depends on a personal preference for the watch size. I am tall with 17cm/7 inch wrist, and I find the size of Ocean Star perfect. But I am inclined towards slightly larger watches. I have Seiko Samurai diver (44mm) and Seiko Astron (45mm), enjoying both of them.
@Gilbert Gamboa Hi, Gilbert, I can compare MIDO Ocean Star GMT to my Seiko Samurai SRPB51 (standard, non-King version). Ocean Star is slightly larger lug to lug, and also the bezel and dial optically looks a little larger than Samurai. But not too large at all. Very well balanced size for a man who likes the watch to have a presence on the wrist. Adding the nice and reflective ceramic bezel on Ocean Star, incredibly good anti-reflective coating on sapphire glass (this I can only compare to my Seiko ASTRON), much nicer signed crown sitting inside well fit guards, plus an eye-catching orange GMT hand, all this gives a way more luxurious look over the Samurai. Ocean STAR GMT with its ETA movement is even more accurate than my Seiko MM300 SBDX023 ordered recently directly from Japan (which should be top with its 8L35 movement), and 80 hours of power reserve in MIDO is a luxury for weekend breaks. All after all, very nice looking watch, good fit and finish, no complaint after after a year of use. Regarding the size: I think MIDO Ocean Star comes in different sizes - mine GMT model is MIDO M026.629.11.051.01 and has 44mm diameter. Should fit perfect to someone who wears Seiko Samurai and Sumo, which are considered to be on a larger side. Best regards, Primoz
This channel is going to be a problem for my bank account
I get this watch the new one “Pepsi” just few days ago Oct 07, 2022
This watch hits far above than its weight class: jumping hour, ceramic bezel, steel 316L beautifully finished, silicon hairspring and an incredible precision +1.3 seconds a day.
I comprare this watch easily with Rolex GMT II and Omega Seamaster.
MIDO just create a winner here and the best bargain
Just wish I had the wrist for it.
If you're able to see the Mido Multifort Dual Time, maybe you can review it too and compare it to this...
Stunning
Is the bezel ceramic?
Yes.
And very nice looking - way better than aluminum or steel.
My tinny grip wrist limits me. I love that retro watches are coming back in small sizes.
Disappointing to not be able to see how this movement performs on a time grapher but overall ok video
Gorgeous.
I'm 6'4", 280#. It will fit me fine, lol. Buying one today
44mm? Ehhh...
Great watch, probably too big for my wrist.
The only gripe i have is same markers for 12 and 6, and not only that: if the two squares are alligned just a bit off it's totally annoying. They should've gone for one square at six and a circle at twelve. Otherwise superb watch!
Why a circle at twelve - i just like mathematics, and involving all basic shapes, squares, triangle, circle, would be so much more pleasing to me. You could argue that watch is round itself, but i'm talking indices. And twelve should always be distinct.
I like pretty much everything about this watch except for the fact that they kept the diver bezel. In my opinion a GMT watch should have a GMT bezel.
I would also prefer the 24 hour bezel but this watch is first and foremost a diver. I can't count how many times I've been on a dive and suddenly wondered what the date was and what time it was in Mongolia :) It is a wonderful watch though.
Dam this watch is sick
Muy chulo
