    This is a dive watch that doesn't take itself seriously. It prefers to be above water with a Mai Tai in a shaded patio or a walk down the beach front shopping strip with sandals.

    I just received this watch as Christmas 🎄 gift. So special.
    The watch looks more impressive and beautiful on the wrist than many other divers above 7K.
    Great movement, COSC certification, 21,600 alt/h which give it a true vintage approach.
    I am in love 🥰

    Thanks for the video! Good to see MIDO getting some love. I bought a black and orange MIDO multifort about 7 years ago and still wear it almost everyday to this day. Its my favorite watch even my small collection of GS, B&M Clifton, and Tag Carrera. Its my favorite watch and I'll never sell it. I'm actually looking at getting a second Mido - either a diver or the GMT. This video has actually got me checking out your MIDO selection Teddy and my wallet got slightly nervous. But I've told my wallet that there is great value and fun here to make it feel a little better. Thanks again for this bit of fun. Cheers!

    Hi Teddy, nice video as usual. Was ready to pull the trigger in this one and tried the watch on my wrist. Great wear and well finished bracelet and clasp for this price point. Just found that the color tone of dial and bezel was not really that true blue which I was looking for and one may expect when watching your video, but more of a turquoise hue. So ended up with a Hamilton Khaki Scuba as a daily beater during summer instead. Still considering if the Mido Ocean Star Titanium may be a nice addition to my collection, though.

  • @RedwoodAggie

    I absolutely love the style of this Mido. The so-so lume is quite frustrating, and is not uncommon on Swiss dive watches in this price range. Considering even low end Seiko 5s have amazing lume, and microbrands can have decent lume for 1/3 the cost, what is up with so many Swiss brands not having decent lume? I'm not asking for 20 layer lume like SWC USA puts on their watches (though I wouldn't turn it down), but it doesn't take that much effort to make it decent. Are they just not aware that enthusiasts like lume? Are they really saving that much money by doing such a thin coating? I'm trying to understand the business case here vs. the modern watch market. Anyway, I still like this watch, but it would be near perfect for me with decent lume. A brushed clasp would be icing on the cake, but I could live with the polished clasp.

    • @abbyseipert3457
      @abbyseipert3457 3 года назад +7

      Considering Mido (like so many Swiss brands) is owned by Swatch, I would guess it’s a matter of keeping lower-priced brands from being maximum quality. Although in Seiko’s case, their manufacturing processes seriously cut down costs, so maybe that’s why they can “afford” to make all their watches with great lume.

      I think he's saying that they intentionally design some minor imperfections, so that their higher priced brands retain value and remain desireable in the eyes of the consumer. Why would you ever consider buying a watch, which is 5x the cost of something like the Mido Ocean star? Because it's just sliiightly more perfect, like having good lume or better case finish etc @@CptSlow89

    • @emhezmfe
      @emhezmfe 7 месяцев назад +1

      I just bought a Panzera Aquamarine 40 that overall love, but the lume is practically non-functional, very disappointing. It fades within minutes of being activated with various light sources. I don't get it, it ain't rocket science. I have one of these Midos enroute--if the lume turns out to be particularly weak, I'm sending it back.

    @javierjimenez786 3 года назад +1

    At first I thought this was a new color variant... It appears almost navy blue throughout the video. I guess this stresses the importance of seeing things live before buying.
    In real life, the dial and strap colors are much more brighter and vibrant, like the tiny part shown at the very end of the strap closest to the lugs at 12 o'clock (minute 7:57)
    The strap is one of the softest and most comfortable I've ever worn right out of the box, and for me it is the best option rather than the bracelet. With the bracelet on there is just too much bling bling with all things being highly polished.
    A very beautiful delivery from Mido!!

    I have this exact watch in my only complaint is the bezel and lume. My lume is the same as every other tribute but for some reason my bezel refuses to rotate. It will click over if I use all of my strength and burn my hand up in the process. I bought it on Amazon for $750. Thinking of a return but afraid I'll receive a second non-working bezel, in the time I waited for this one to arrive is time I would never want to waste again.

      @@chrispekel5709 - yea, but then they still use white wheels on blue or black dials. Most of the Swatch group is using the same 80 hour ETA. It would not cost much to make a couple of more wheels. OR just make the same dial WITHOUT a date window at all for symmetry.
