In this video, I sit down with MIDO CEO Franz Linder to take a look at some intriguing novelties from the brand. If you're not familiar with MIDO, I would argue their collection presents some of the best value for Swiss mechanical watches in the price range. If you're a fan of MIDO, which model is your favorite?

What a humble, nice and intelligent CEO. Absolut fantastic brand!
I agree 100%! You can tell they take pride in what they do, they offer more value and quality for the money and have leadership that leads by example!
Most underestimated watch brand ! Thanks for the content
Agreed. Love my oceanstar200ceramic. Better quality than my hydroconquest and aquis
MIDO here in the USA is a hidden gem. I’m surprised I do not see them in more wrists around the office and work. This collection iteration is truly exquisite, elegant and yet very masculine.
For me Mido and Certina are both underrated. I have now over 1 year the Ocean Starr GMT... it's a awesome watch.
Great video.
im agree, from my perspective both mido and certina is higher rank than tissot, both have distinguish design compare to tissot which have too generic design.
It would be great if Mido was to release a Multifort M Chronometer in a 39mm or 40mm case. Make Mido do it, Teddy!
Only thing that has keeping me away from those beautiful watches
Agreed. A 40mm true GMT would be a massive success
That’s the only reason I bought the commander ii
I came here to say this!!!!!!!
The blue/red Ocean Star GMT was my first automatic watch I bought last year. It is such an underrated watch and so well built. I still find myself staring at it when I have it on because it is so eye catching and it keeps great time.
This level of content is astounding. Teddy, you continue to provide an elevated experience that is frankly too good for the platform on which you deliver. You give each watch, each brand, an honest critique and a respectful one. You treat your videos with a certain air of sophistication and elegance, while still making them democratic and accessible to all. It is no wonder that brands want to work with you, both the big and the smaller. Your channel really is something special and it is fitting to see you getting your due. Keep it up!
Damn was hoping they'd announce an official ocean star heritage GMT (non-collab). 40mm GMT would be absolutely killer
Same here. I was hoping the same thing. Was hoping for a 40mm gmt sport model. The hodinkee one is too heritage looking.
Just bought the Hodinkee collab and LOVE it. I fully agree they need to bring that size to their modern Ocean Star GMT as well.
If the Hodinkee collab had a bicolor bezel I’d happily shell out.
I love MIDO! That being said, I have the true GMT 40mm Jack Mason, Americana version. Love it, too. Found a fantastic 40 mm GMT. Check it out.
Mido is the sleeper brand of the swatch group. Incredible value. Hope to see more small diameter watches in the future. Great to hear more about some of the history about the brand aswell!!
Mido is such a great brand and definitely holds quality as job one. I love my Mido…..thanks for doing this Teddy👍🏻
The MIDO TV Watch actually catch my attention and the more I look into the brand the more I wanna have it. Thanks Teddy!
That Commander Celebración is awesome!
💀🔥
My first Swiss made automatic Watch was a Mido Commander II and ever since I’ve had an unchallenged love for the brand. What he says is true, here in Mexico Mido is one of those status brands watch enthusiasts and non enthusiasts recognize. My grandfather had a gold Commander, my mom has a ladies version of it with a TINY automatic, hacking and hand winding movement (size of a quarter) and I have my own in stainless steel. It is a brand that transcends generations. I now own a Limited Edition Baroncelli with a BLUED hand. Truly an outstanding brand, so thank you Teddy.
I wish Mido would bring back their Multifort 38! There's a 42mm chronometer version with gorgeous angular indices and a patterned dial that I'd love in a smaller package.
A well-done interview showcasing the Mido brand, Teddy. I particularly liked how you diplomatically touched on the size issue a few times. My first love is vintage watches and the CEO is right that, unbelievably, Mido was at the forefront of watch technology in the 1930s by a long shot. Ironically, those same 1930s, 1940s Multiforts were much smaller than today. Mido would probably benefit from having some smaller case size options in their Multifort collection. Thanks for raising the issue.
that Ocean Star GMT is just spectacular !!! I'd love one but I can't deal with 44mm. If Mido ever makes this in 39mm I'd be all over it.. great interview Teddy.
I bought the limited offering ocean star gmt from hodinkee and it has the same proportions as the ocean star tribute with a 40.5 mm case maybe 1 mm thicker. It wears like a dream. It is more comfortable then the seiko spb143 63mas. Also the case is all finely brushed. If you can manage 40mm diver then I highly suggest it. I hope they stick to this formula and include an all brushed bracelet.
Ugh, couldn't agree more. Love the Ocean Star GMT but would love to see it in iterated between 39mm - 42mm. I love that they keep the count-up dive bezel on their GMT. Wish more brands would do this.
I love the ocean star but can't deal with the size of it.
@@777soul56 you can buy the ocean star tribute bracelet and brush it down yourself
Don’t be afraid of the size, as it wears sensibly smaller! I have the blue ocean star GMT and it wears great and comfortable in my 17.5 cm wrist! Great interview Teddy!! Underrated brand no doubt
I love my Mido Ocean Star. One of the best options for dive watch around $1,000 and probably the best diver's extension and bracelet for the price range. Their value-for-price has always been stunning. Two things I do want from them: more offerings on chronograph designs, and smaller dial options at 39-41mm for Ocean Star and Multifort Chronometer 1.
4:28 That light blue dial is absolutely stunning ! Me likey !
That Multifort is beautiful. + 1 on wanting a 39 or 40 variant!
I just ordered the MIDO GMT Ocean Star (black). Being deployed, I'll have to wait longer than I can stand to get it. But, wow. I love the day of the dead version! Great presentation from both of you. TB, it's because of you as to why I purchased my MIDO GMT.
Mido has been big in Latin American and Asian countries for decades. I’m surprised how in US and Canada some people don’t even know them. Excellent value for money.
I really like a lot of Mido's watches. The few I've seen in-person really look great. Going through their website, they give off-some "fashion brand" vibes due to the sheer number of variations and some of the color combos/designs. But they have some real solid picks in there!
Thanks for the interesting interview with the Mido CEO. Your reviews introduced me to the brand which is now one of my favorites! Already have an Ocean Star Titanium and Multifort; the Ocean Star GMT (blue or blue/red) is on the wish list. Also, thanks to this video, I became aware of the Commander Big Date “Day of the Dead” LE, and was able to grab one online.
Thanks to a Teddy , I just found out about this brand . Doing my research on the ocean star collection , I’m beyond impressed . Kudos… superb quality at an affordable price
Very enlightening give-and-take conversation. The respect obviously went both ways, and the brand is one that should be on any watch enthusiast’s radar. Great job, Teddy!
Wonderful video about a brand that deserves more recognition!
I bought the 38mm now discontinued Mido Multifort Gent and am very impressed with it. Considering this is their most basic model I think it might be just a little above Hamilton and Tissot.
An awesome brand that deserves more attention, I love my Mido Ocean Star GMT! I wish you go for Certina and represent them here in the USA! Excellent video and keep the good work my friend!
I'm glad you're doing more of this type of content, the whole list thing on RUclips got old years ago
OH that new Ocean Star with the gradient dial is a stunner! > Great to see all these great guests Teddy!
Once again an amazing video. I absolutely love Mido. I have an Ocean Star GMT. Nothing even close for that price. That watch punches way above its weight category.
I just ordered a Mido Belluna and can't wait for it to come in! My first Mido, and Teddy's channel was the first time I saw a Mido.
Hey Teddy i just want to say i just recently got into watches and then i found your channel soooo glad i did you have stopped me from buying from not to great brands and leading me to some of the nicest watches just want to say thanks.
Another amazing video Teddy! I bought the Ocean Star GMT (black/orange model) because of your video review of it. Mido is such an underrated brand in my opinion. Really want to add the Ocean Star Tribute to my collection as well. The only issue I have with my OSGMT is the lume. It dies really quickly, especially on the hands, which is where it's most important.
Thanks for featuring Mido, their products are amazing value. Highly recommended! My Commander Chrono is brilliant.
My first ever swiss automatic. Great value for money and didn’t even know it was a gem when I got it! It just caught my eye
Great interview video. I enjoyed hearing the C-level insider’s perspective on Mido’s history and product mix. Nice segment.
I have a Baroncelli and a Multifort Chronometer. Very clean and versatile. Love them both.
MIDO is a lovable brand here in Indonesia.
Their designs keep catching my eye, but I didn't know enough about the company. This interview gives me a great impression, I especially love "our watches are meant to outlive size trends".
Hi this message is for Franz. I hope you read this comment. You (Mido) made a limited edition for hodinkee. That is an ocean star tribute gmt. Maybe you are planning regular production for these 40.5mm gmt? I believe this size gmt will be absolutely successful in North America. Especially enjoy the all finely brushed case and hope for a matching brushed bracelet! Also one critical area that many reviewers on RUclips point out is the ocean star as a diver needs more applications of lume. The hodinkee version seems like it has more lume but even still needs more. You have to compete with Seiko Prospex divers that has the industry standards for lume applications. I believe you could easily charge $100 more retail for stronger lume applications. I believe it will help to sell more units as weak lume on a diver can make a collector choose another option instead of the Ocean Star. I hope you as CEO read this message as a fan of Mido and can vouch for the quality especially of the case finishing is on par with Omega. A all brushed OS tribute GMT is special. I love the old Mido font as well how comfortable it is for 7¼ inch wrist. Thank you!
Excellent content Teddy. You rule the business, no doubt about it 👍
I own an ocean star tribute, which I absolutely love!! A bit on the smaller side for my wrist. Well anything below 42 starts to get a little bit smaller than I like. I I bought mine knowing very little about the brand only that they were under the SWatch group and that in Central America they had a huge Market. Just not the USA . So I took a shot just to have something a little bit different and man oh man what a fantastic watch. At some point I will definitely purchase a second one.
What a nice CEO. I love the Swiss accent that he has! 😄🙌🏻
Great interview, Teddy. I own a Mido Multifort , the "Adventure" model. Unique looks with "Geneva Stripes" on the dial face. Unfailingly accurate. My next purchase is very likely to be another Mido.
Bought my first Mido today, and I’m in love with it!
I just purchased my first Mido watch, a Baroncelli II. I am very impressed with the feel and quality of the watch…Thank you for sharing this video.
You cannot go wrong buying a MIDO watch. A quality Swiss watch at an affordable price. Thanks for doing the
Video teddy. I have been waiting for you to do this Swiss brand of watch.
Mido isn’t affordable for most people. It’s expensive brand.
This is a great video which provided some great information about a beautifully designed brand...I am a Seiko fanatic but truly appreciate the majesty associated to swiss brands
I was fortunate to get my hands on a Mido Multifort TV Big date on a blue rubber integrated strap. The symmetrical layout with the big date at 12 with thar perfectly proportioned rounded square face is stunning. An understated piece that has 80hrs of power, innovation with their anti-shock spring and anti-magnetic set up. A super cool outlier nailing it for design and packed with reliability. The quintessential understated heritage brand.
I saw one of your videos talking about taking the time to research to really find what watch you want instead of impulsive buying. I did that and landed on Mido, found out they had a rich history and I’ve read nothing but praise for them. So I ended up purchasing the Commander ii chronometer, pretty interesting that they make some of the most precise chronometers in the industry.
Current Mido models are super huge, for some reason...
I got the 600 COSC and it’s actually small to me . I’m not with the trend of small watches though… doesn’t help I’m a big guy and a 39mm looks like a kids watch on me . I tend to like 43-46 mm.
I've just bought a Mido Multifort Chronometer for only 400 bucks "and change" I'm so in love with this.
Thanks again for all these great conversations. Have you considered collecting some questions from your fans before conducting one of these? I'm sure some of us have interesting insights and feedbacks for these awesome brands
The poster, that 1930's Multi Fort, pie case dial, shark teeth index, looked lovely, should remake that line .
The fact he refuses to aknowledge the need for smaller (36mm) watches really pushes me away from this brand... Good on him for standing behind his ideals though!
There is no "need". It's entirely about lug to lug when it comes to fit. 36mm is aesthetic and is too small for anything but a field or dress watch
Recently got the Mido Ocean Star heritage, light blue dial and it’s absolutely stunning for the price point. Definitely an underestimated and underrated brand. With better marketing, Mido would be doing much better.
That ocean star with the wave texture face is honestly fantastic
Just purchased my second mido watch. The multifort Escape. The rough case is so brilliantly executed. An absolute joy to wear. Probably will get the TV big date early next year.
Bought my first Swiss watch last October. It was a mido commander nog date blue dial. Absolutely love it and planning to purchase an ocean star GMT later this year. Most premium looking watches in their price class.
Getting my Mido Oceanstar 200c coming tomorrow hopefully. It will be my first watch and glad I’ve chosen Mido. Great brand that produces quality watches that I can afford.
Good morning teddy is true I’m from Mexico 🇲🇽 and mido is a popular brand
Keep it up Teddy, very inspiring, you’re helping me build my watch collection to another level!
Damn that Celebracion is fire! Unfortunately I can find none for sale worldwide.
Yo acabo de comprar hace una semana un Ocean Star 200C verde y estoy encantado con el.
Efectivamente, aquí en México amamos a Mido y desde siempre ha sido símbolo de un reloj fino y de calidad.
Love these videos and I have to say that ocean star is really something. It’s the diver I have been looking for. Gorgeous. So thanks for pointing me in the right way.
I purchased a Mido Ocean Star GMT from an authorized dealer in Florence, Italy this spring. The watch is beautiful and I wore it proudly for several weeks after the purchase. I loved it then...not so much at the moment. The hour hand started running slow and would be several hours or more behind as the day progressed. The second and GMT hands remained faithful. I contacted Swatch Service in the USA and sent the watch in since it was under warranty. The watch was serviced but came back with the same issue. I had to send it back in again several months ago and I'm still waiting for it to be returned. The jury is out as to whether or not it will be serviced properly. At this point, the watch has been in service much longer than it was ever on my wrist. I am losing confidence in the watch and the brand at this point. YMMV
Teddy: “why do you make oversized watches?”
Answer: “MIDO never went to the extremes” (says this after having shown a 42mm dial only “classic” watch). “We never made 36mm men’s watches, but we ONLY make watches up to 44mm”
Ok.
That was so absurd, total nonsense as some of the watches presented.
Ha, they never went to the extremes because they were already positioned there.
I had the pleasure of owning an All Dial Chronometer for many years. Loved that watch. It was high polish and got a lot of compliments, even more so than most of my more expensive pieces.
I think I hear a cold coming on, Teddy.
Mido is the first swiss watch brand I have had excellent luck with, and I trust. Generally, I have had bad luck with Swiss watches. I bought a used Ocean star with the semi-rose gold case, the 80 hr power reserve, and it has been flawless, and gorgeous with that dark blue textured dial and blue waterproof band. My two Tissot's, the PRX (quartz) and Couturier, had manufacturing defects under warranty. I generally leaned to the Seikos and Orients, before this, which have always been highly reliable. My fav is my Orient Triton Neptune, the big heavy one. It's gorgeous with the blue dial.
My Ocean Star is a dressed up diver, and has excellent quality.
Hey Teddy. Can you do a review on the Mido Multifort TV Big Date. It looks so cool but I need your expert review and opinion!😊
I own a Tissot, Hamilton, Longines and Omega. I think I will be purchasing the Mido oceanstar in blue.
I just purchased the Hodinkee Mido GMT, I own a Tudor, Omega, etc… This Hodinkee version has been taking quite a bit of wrist time with the 40mm diameter. Awesome looking and comfortable watch.. amazing fit and finish and True GMT for under $1400 is amazing value..
Mesh, nato, or leather… what is yours on? I prefer the brown leather at the moment.
The multifort is a great collection. I wish they will release some wearable sizes !
What's wearable to you because I have a couple in different sizes and they're both pretty wearable
@@nikkimiddlekillsday5161 Well, Teddy tried to suggest that people may be looking for different sizes, but the CEO of MIDO was adamant: 38-44mm for them is the right range. In the short term it may work, but it's a pity to see a brand with heritage and history being relegated to department store windows because they make oversized watches. As to what's wearable for me: I personally wear dress watches in 33-36mm, field watches in 34-38mm, and sports watches in 36-40mm, but that's just personal taste. I understand that there is a market for dress watches in 37 or even 38mm nowadays, or for sports watches in 41, for example. But they're saying that they cover their clients' needs with 42mm dress watches and 44mm sports watches... It's a pity, really. I browsed through their catalog and found only the heritage ocean star makes sense in terms of size, as well as the commander heritage. Other pieces are actually very nice, but I'm not buying a 42mm dial-only "dress watch".
@@akacenturio500 couldn't possibly agree anymore than this⏫⏫
I have the Mido Ocean Star GMT. I bought it on Teddy's recommendation video and while in Rome on my honeymoon. Love it!
Frank Linder he doesn't just know about whatches, He also knows general culture. Great job with the feautiful skull dial, Unappreciated out of LATAM.
Missing my all diall, white dial. A wish a re edition in white.
In LATAM love MIDO.
Good video.
Love that green dial Commander! Wish it were a bit smaller in diameter though.
Never paid much attention to this brand... Always walking past their showcases. I'll take a closer look at them from now on. Great content!
Damn, look how far our boy has come. You've truly grown up from a small italian man in front of a greenscreen to a small italian man together with the big boys of the watch making world. Proud of you Teddy
I own the MIDO Ocean Star Tribute (blue dial with orange seconds hand) and I simply love it!
Greetings from Germany ✌️😊
The most underrated Swatch brand.
Every time I see a Mido, I’m impressed. I’d love to see a non-limited versions of the Hodinkee GMT and Ocean Star decompression timer.
Great brand with a solid philosophy. Thanks for the deep dive! What an awesome interview!
I love Mido. My father had one when I was a kid. I want to get the Ocean star Gmt for me in the future.
The Multifort is such a beautiful collection, but they're need to have more size options. 39 would be perfect
Love my Ocean Star Tribute
Great job Teddy in highlighting a deserving brand like Mido. I'm going to have to get one now.
Wow that MIDO COMMANDER in Bottle Green , really Pop's . Probably the ONLY watch with the date at 6 o'clock that I like , even better than the aqua terra, in My Humble Opinion.
Good video! I really like the ocean star gmt, but it's too big. Something like the 200c with a gmt would be awesome. And that special edition watch looks super cool! Not really my style but you can tell they spent a lot of time designing it, and it's cool they would do something so out of the box.
I'm going to have to add a Mido to the collection. I think Ocean Star Tribute might be where I start. That Commander looks incredible too.
I love his Swiss accent :D
Why did they discontinue the Multifort in 38mm? Did you perhaps ask if they have plans to bring it back?
I’m impressed with the brand, and with the CEO. Great video!!!
Teddy, you're doing great! Awesome video, love the brand.
I have the Baroncelli and I love it. One of the best dress watches you can get under 1k
Bruce - who cares what we think and how much it cost! Within seconds of your video starting it was obvious that you were smitten with it. Just a great video, because without realising it, you reminded us what it is all about! Thank you!
I own a Mido Chronometer Automatic white dial. Perfect watch. Period.
I’m wearing my Ocean Star GMT (blue) as I watch this! I’m hoping Mido starts to get the recognition and respect in the United States that they deserve. You’re absolutely right, when you hold it and start noticing all the details. I also want to commend Mido for putting a dive bezel on a GMT. As a diver, I want both the GMT for traveling dive vacations, and I can still wear it as a the dive watch it is designed for! I can take only one watch on vacation (though I also usually take my Doxa, LOL). Great video, and highlight of Mido!
Mido ocean star is the best bang for buck in the market! Classic and versatile!
Recently added a Mido Baroncelli to my collection. On a Milanese bracelet, it has a very elegant look.
