ooo I think I have one of these....I was concerned I had some mold growing around the spikes but no ...just looks like that 😅
Sometimes Ferocactus can secrete a sap out of the areoles and if left they can get sooty mold, but it's easy to sort out. Thanks for watching and commenting 🌵☀️🌺🌼🌸🏜
Soooo.... maybe my Emoryi is a Glaucescens instead. There was no label when i got it, i surmised it was emoryi due to its look and features.

Hey. My golden barrel cactus turned brown at the bottom but it doesn't seem to be rotten. What could be causing that? There are no pests but the outside of it is peeling. If I cut it above that, will the top part grow roots?
That sounds like natural corking to me. I have a lot of plants like that. As long as it isn't soft and mushy it's nothing to worry about. Thank you for watching and commenting 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜
