I'm 2 months into my speed triple 1200 ownership and I ride this cornering weapon very often and yeah chase nailed it, it's basically a naked daytona 1200 ! the engine is a 1160cc triple that has NO issues revving quickly past 7000 rpms . It's not that it's weak below that, it still grunty but not so linear. from 4k to 7 k the bike will kick forward but then builds to a scream above 8k in a more supersport kind of way. It's still more grunty than an S1000R for example. very worth noting is that the speed1200 is geared more like a superbike. 1ST gear goes to almost 90mph! In contrast, on the 1290 Superduke, 2ND gear goes to 80Mph in stock form, I suspect they held back on the torque in the 3 to 7k range slightly just so that the bike isn't a high-side monster.. cause you will be leaning this thing waaaaay over and ripping that throttle open. Some ppl have gone in and massaged throttle map tune in ecu and then the bike becomes a complete hooligan again. it's a strange bike. I find it way friendlier around town than the v1 / v2 superduke 1290. the cruise control is a peach to use and works as low as 31 mph. Yet, the riding position is a tad more sports forward than upright naked. Fuel consumption is decent for a big engine and I can get 110 miles before the low fuel warning comes in when riding in the city. The engine doesn't boil like some ducatis but then the suspension is set up leaning " towards elbow down antics(r lil stiff n a lot of feedback) All in all its is a strange but awesome bike and for the right rider it's an absolute weapon😍
Couldn't agree more, really interesting how "weapon" is the most accurate description. It just feels so sharp, I feel so planted in corners at ludicrous speeds. Very impressed with it.
LOVE you guys that have more miles on these bikes than I do and also glad to hear my thoughts were in line with other! Thanks so much for the added info from an owner!
I sold my Yamaha R1 2020 and wanted to get a naked bike because of the seating position! I did a few test drives, but none of them drove like the Triumph! Very awesome bike. I can only advise everyone to test drive this thing. I love my new Triumph Speed Trible 1200 RS
BTW there should be NO reason I can think of for a "naked bike" to have a better seating position... I realize that some faired bikes are track focused but there have been a number of exceptions....motorcycle companies tend to fail trying to make bikes practical and good looking
OC: I will always love a Triumph. Their triples are the best sounding engines I've ever heard. And seeing the new Speed Triple RS has me swearing to myself "No you are not going to get rid of your new MT07 for a new RS." Then my brain tells me it's so pretty though.
I love the bike, my dealership fixed the neutral and now it is so easy to find neutral from 1st or 2nd, handling, power, comfort, I'm 5'7 is very satisfying. I absolutely love mine. and it's interesting that I have the opposite reaction than Chase. Meaning I came from a Ducati Multistrada 1260S and I thought it was clunky and clumsy around town. It just wanted to run and it did it well. The triumph is twice as smooth as the Ducati to me and so much nicer around town...with a bigger punch on top as well. I have a couple common complaints like most, but I don't recall any of the dozens of bikes I've owned that I didn't have a complaint. The Speed 3RS is just a joy to ride thought!

I think you’re spot on chase. I bought one back in June and am thinking about moving on from it. It’s a phenomenal handling and performing motorcycle; however, the powerband isn’t 100% suitable for the kind of riding that I do most often. Not exactly sure though as it is such a fun bike to ride!

It's sad, I liked the bike when it ran but triumph and their engineers have a lot to figure out. Honestly the best way to sum up this bike: It gets out of the way. Once you get used to it, it becomes a part of you. It's so planted and stable that whatever you want to do it allows you to accomplish it. 6 months now I've had the Speed Triple 1200 RS and it's the best bike I've ever had for carving the canyons which is 99% of my riding in the Rockies. 3000+ miles this summer on it, one long trip through the mountains. Absolutely in love with it. The engine is amazing, the seat and position is super comfortable. Just can't get enough. I also have an 09 R6, had an fz-07, and started on a ninja 250 just for context. It's certainly not perfect and it's definitely a covid bike. It overheated because plastic got stuck in the radiator but got fixed. Theres a weep hole in the oil pan that leaked a little from a crushed o-ring, fixed. The headlight assembly had to be replaced from a stripped nut in the housing. Agreed the dash is too laggy and I also agree they could really do something more interesting with the dash layout, I even complained to Triumph about it in their 6 month survey that they apparently send out to buyers. AND NEUTRAL IS SUCH A PAIN. But even after all that I'm still so happy with it, it's the most fun i've had on a bike. The thing is like a F-ing rocket. And so beautiful imo. Just call it a street fighter. It's really a modern day standard "sporty" bike. Forget the "nakedness" every bike with out fairings are technically naked. With that being said I'm gonna go for a ride on my naked cruiser a triumph speed master😀
Awesome video Chase, love the way you review bikes! I am considering upgrading from my Honda cb650r to this monster and I am wondering is it too much for the street? I love sportbike characteristics but preffer more upright body position, just like you, so this bike seems like perfect to me in theory.
Just don't be dumb and you'll be fine. If you think you have good self control just realize your self control isn't as good as the capabilities of this motorcycle. I upgraded from a ninja 650 to an aprilia tuono v4 1100rr which I feel is comparable. It's scary, but so so much fun
Owned a previous gen Speed Triple, loved its low down grunt. Don't think this new bike is for me. The slow small TFT and keyless don't do it for me together with the sporty riding position. Currently riding an MT10 and it's difficult to find anything better or more fun to ride.
They should have kept the dual round units...classic street fighter naked bike. Maybe they will consider this next time. Or after market kits for them of some kind...
Chase as a newer rider what do you recommend mt07 or sv650 not the cafe racer, I hear great things about both but I need help. Any feedback will be great love the video
@@NotABot-px7ky nah i disagree I've ridden plenty of older dual headlight bikes , like my 92' Ninja zx7 , and there is no mistaken that for a car coming down the road. I just think it's a cleaner look.

Well you say that Triumph loaned you first Speed Triple but in fact you say in your Trident 660 video that Triumph loaned you that one as well :D so ....??
OC: I had the outgoing model and didn’t love it like I thought I would. This new update seems better in every way except the single headlight for low beam.
Listed 177 but some dynos say 160 some say 146 I think that if it's broken in it reads higher but dynos arent reliable any ways. To be honest tho the number doesn't matter because the delivery of the power is so smooth that you'll never be wanting for more power
Just to let you know, all manufacturers quote horsepower made from the engine. Dyno's measure power to the rear wheel. Of course the dyno will read lower due to drivetrain loss. 180hp is what the engine itself makes, dynos measure how much power gets to the ground. Nothing new, that's literally how all manufacturers have been quoting power spec for years and years
That exhaust dates this bike back to 1996. I’ll take the previous gen before this train wreck any day. Can we move past the horrible headlight growth Triumph?

I really like this bike, but these bikes are getting really expensive for us average folks….
worth every penny imo. Had mine 6 moths and 3000+ miles so far. But yeah it is expensive.
As a cheap dude I totally understand. I think thats why I gravitate towards Yamaha. Price for what you get is hard to match.
I hope to pick up this or the new RR next year when I'm back on proper money. They're both an insane amount of bike for the money.
The rr has the fairing which is nice but it's got clip one and raised rear sets so might not be as comfortable
Just call it a street fighter. It's really a modern day standard "sporty" bike. Forget the "nakedness" every bike with out fairings are technically naked. With that being said I'm gonna go for a ride on my naked cruiser a triumph speed master😀
OC: I love the bike!
OC : thank you Chase
OC: Chase: "just 40-80" actually means "no more than 130"
Finally!! I’ve been waiting for chase to review this
Let‘s see if it shines also in terms of reliability…
Chase, need a review on the ninja 1000sx.
OC: I didn't really watch till the end, but I liked and OCd the comment, cause I trust the content creator. Does that still count?
Love your vids
eagerly waiting for first ride impression on speed triple 1200rr and gsxs 1000.
Call the ghostbusters, marshmallow man is in the loose again heheh
It’s good to see you’re not wearing your Gardening Gloves 🧤👍
Oc, it was 2nd on track day shootout…. Street fighter v4s or Aprilia rsv touno or Duke R. What’s the cheapest too own long term?
Orange or Roulette green i Want🤙🔥and a Fly screen🔥
Wonder if you can use that key fob function if you get carjacked?
what mic are you using to pick up voice so well with hardly any other noise?
How do you like TH triumph as compared to the Super Duke evo? I am torn between the Triump, SD, MT10SP and Tuono......nobody has them in stock to test
The front light looks like a mantis head lol
Correction- The Ducati street fighter v4 is the best looking one
Owned a previous gen Speed Triple, loved its low down grunt. Don't think this new bike is for me. The slow small TFT and keyless don't do it for me together with the sporty riding position.
Currently riding an MT10 and it's difficult to find anything better or more fun to ride.
I agree re the MT10. Just wish they would style it like a naked R1 and I'd choose it every time.
Have you actually ridden the new bike?
I love speed triples although I think they look absolutely awful. That headlight design is so stupid, just hanging oddly off the front.
Like a housefly head.
They should have kept the dual round units...classic street fighter naked bike. Maybe they will consider this next time. Or after market kits for them of some kind...
It's amazing how subjective beauty is isn't it? I absolutely love the look of it! 🤣
I own one because of the way it looks!
@@simongray2533its so nice I agree they are beautiful
Chase as a newer rider what do you recommend mt07 or sv650 not the cafe racer, I hear great things about both but I need help. Any feedback will be great love the video
@Shalin I ride my buddy Honda shadow 750 all the time
@Shalin I’ll probably choose to keep it longer term but I’ve even thought about the mt09 and growing into it
@Shalin thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it
Mt07
@@jamesrosa9895 mt09 is not for first bike it's a wheelie monster that bike is nuts
Man I thought it's a heavily modified Suzuki B King
Lol I just saw the 2022 honda navi. I know what the next first ride should be.
Why cant they make both headlights work at the same time , it just looks goofy when only one light is on when there is 2 , c'mon Triumph
2 headlights at once makes it difficult to tell if its a motorcycle rlly close or a car rlly far away. i think mono headlights are the safest option
@@NotABot-px7ky nah i disagree I've ridden plenty of older dual headlight bikes , like my 92' Ninja zx7 , and there is no mistaken that for a car coming down the road. I just think it's a cleaner look.
I wonder if i can put the rr fairing on this bike ,and it would be perfect lol the 2022 rr is a back destroyer
When is the next triumph speed triple 1200 rs video coming? 😊
I’m in ATL too! Would you like to compare this to my 2010 Speed Triple 1050? Would be a great video to compare old with new..
Sir please make a review on Street Triple rs 2021 also please.
Whats the compilation song at the beginning
Sounds to me you just like finding problems, I have road the 1200 rs and it was fantastic, no mirror vibration at all not even at 70 mph, also no problem finding or getting into neutral what so ever.
Go on some twisty roads dude, all bikes can go straight
Tell that MMS to get a MT-03 back in stock D:
Dude you completely lose your ability to speak the English language so often and I love it.
Expectations Granted 😂
Shout out to triumph for letting us loan the motorcycle. 😂
Sound like a call center person from India
I don't like the looks of headlights.. idk it's kinda buggy and weird.
They absolutely killed the standard look of the speed triple the headlights looks so ugly now.
Aren’t these made in Asia now?
"I need...JESUS GUY!"
If you don't want wiggles or slow dashboards switch to BMW
Well you say that Triumph loaned you first Speed Triple but in fact you say in your Trident 660 video that Triumph loaned you that one as well :D so ....??
Hello guys. What is the name of your Helmet ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
OC: I had the outgoing model and didn’t love it like I thought I would. This new update seems better in every way except the single headlight for low beam.
I remember that the actually power is 145 rather than 180. (someone dyno it)
Pretty sure this is the new 1200CC engine and it is 178HP listed.
Nothing new, that's literally how all manufacturers have been quoting power spec for years and years
40-80 looks alot like 40-110 XD
That exhaust dates this bike back to 1996. I’ll take the previous gen before this train wreck any day.
Can we move past the horrible headlight growth Triumph?
Well you cant buy taste
I miss the old shield on the front! i Think its missing something on the front.
the steering's bent
Don't they get stolen under a min you can start the engine and just ride away
You can turn power off
@@californiapoontappa yeh even when there off
@@rajindernijjer you can power the whole bike off there is a switch and you can turn the key fob off. You got to be really close to start it I set my jacket down about ten feet away with key in it and it wouldn't start
@@californiapoontappa I know people who nick them everyday make 30k a week
@@rajindernijjer damn I'm in the wrong line of work. But idk how.cuz I tested it
I've seen quite a bit 1200 reviews, and I feel like you are copying other review videos by what/ how you say things. almost like copy & paste. It's kind of annoying. like pre planned.
but, I could be wrong who knows.
I come from riding sport bikes (600cc, Liter), and this bike would make it so I'd only have one bike. Do like the looks, and I am no interested in this bike. OC
I hate triumph headlights they look like a mantis
We can’t see shit in the reflection when your trying to show if you can flat fort the bike or not.
First up "a sporty motorcycle in naked clothing"? What in the hell does naked clothing look like? And the sports bikes shading their fairing to offer the naked look me likes.
I thought for sure this was going to be a Triumph “sponsored” review. Everything you pointed out solidified I made the correct choice purchasing the 22 BMW S1KR for me. Thank you for a real world first ride review
