  • Here's just a couple of minutes of high gain wanking on the Fishman Devin Townsend "Transcendence" pickups. In this quick video I'm only grinding Voice 1 (in both bridge and neck positions) in humbucker mode through the Omega Obsidian's lead channel.
The tones are ridiculous, both palm muted chords and notes are just THICC and punchy and the leads overall have attack while still being creamy. The bridge pickup is just tight, there is no low end tightening in the signal chain, both pickups are high output making it almost unnecessary to boost them the traditional way.
These are seriously some of the best pups out there so far in terms of sound and versatility, check out my other video where I go in depth in the Voice 2/Split Sounds in the clean territory and blended with the Graphtech Piezo.

Sounds killer bro! Think I need to grab a set. Also love how tight the Omega is through an IR. I find IRs really show how tight an amp is.

Thanks man! Yes, the Devins are so underrated, they're incredible pups. Also yeah, the Omega is super tight, if I boost it is hast to be lightly and normally to get a particular distortion character, not to tighten it.

I’ve been wanting a California cut for some years now. Too broke to afford one though.

It's a great guitar indeed... the only feasible way for me to have an LP shape with Floyd, piezo and a simple yet interesting Ash look.

How do you find these compared to your Willie Adler set pal?

    • @SergioChongLoo

Both those sets are in my top 3 from Fishman for sure. The Devs have a higher output and are more compressed (more “active” sounding), they require less boosting: the Adlers are more passive oriented (although voicing 2 resembles the Moderns) and require more boosting/low end taming, but once that’s done the chugs just come out big time. The Devins win in the cleans department. Either is better than the Moderns.

@@gazzaduce3424 oh bro, the Adlers are the best amongst the Classics and Moderns, install them asap :) No, I haven't tried the KSE set yet but I've heard they're super similar to the Moderns.

@@SergioChongLoo I had them in a Charvel but I think my Charvel was made with bad wood as what ever went into sounded bad so I sold the guitar in the end but I am tempted to try them again.

@@gazzaduce3424 Yeah definitely put them through a trusted guitar/amp with a nice od/boost and boooom!
