I watched Life is a jungle when I was 10 and I ever so faintly remembered it. My grandmother got it for me and I watched it once, then never turned it on again. Seeing the muscular dog in the red vest did not trigger nostalgia, it triggered ptsd.
I watched life’s a jungle when I was like 7. We pirated it thankfully. Absolutely awful, I never finished it. I can’t think of IHE without thinking about life’s a jungle and having a minor anxiety attack.
I am both glad and disappointed that I was never shown a crappy knockoff movie as a kid.

"Why do they look like they're on a green screen?"
This is because the "studio's" garbage "computer" couldn't handle the entire "scene". Therefore everything was rendered in three passes based on background, middle, and foreground, then composited in "editing" to reduce render time.
The fact that anybody knows this much about ratatoing (even the existence of ratatoing) proves there is no hope for humanity

It's terrifying to imagine that one of the animators for one of these films most likely had a moment where he or she was talking to a parent and their kid and after them finding out they're an animator, they think they're gonna be a big hit with the kid as they proudly say something like "ever heard of plan bee?"
“Is it cartoon lore that characters have 4 fingers?” Fun fact, that started with early cartoons like Looney Tunes (probably even earlier) to save money and time on animation. Budgeting was so precise at one point that they even cut down the amount of whiskers on Bugs Bunny from 3 to 2 to save even more time and money during the animation process.
Not just that but hands are awkward to animate in general. I never gave it much thought but removing one digit has to make things so much easier.
It is also why so many cartoon characters has white gloves. Cuts down on animation time and cost.
Fun fact four finger animation isn't seen in Japan because of the association between someone having four fingers and Yakuza loyalty test.

Life’s a Jungle is among the greatest films ever created, It tells a mature and dark story without having its tone overwhelm the viewer, allowing more casual viewers to enjoy it without sacrificing quality. The scene where the rhinos destroy the home of the good animals is more emotional than the scene from Schindlers list where Liam Neeson cries about saving just one more life. In conclusion life’s a jungle is one of the most original and spectacular pieces of art ever made.

Having worked in 3D animation for a few years these really hurt to watch. These look like demo reels of very very bad students. These are the kinds of clips they show at the schools to show how to NOT do something.

I'm seeing a pattern of relatively unknown studios putting out movies that are lazily slapped together to show off their "talents" instead of telling engaging, original stories they care about. Some of the scenes are so random and disconnected from the plot you can tell they were just made for the reel. Oh look, we can do character acting. Oh look, we can do animal locomotion. Oh look, we can do water effects. Too bad they're rarely done well.

Yeah; I'm a bit late, but if I remember correctly, after the events of "Little and Big Monsters", the whole sequence with them getting prepped to """""fight""""" was where "What's Up" started; or at least directly after that. Something about how not all the monsters were dead, therefore, the group needed to kill the rest. That may be a very shoddy description, but even if it's wrong, I'm sure more love and care went into it than what went into both those horrid movies combined.

The reason characters in animation tend to have 4 fingers is because it makes it easier to animate their hands; though more modern cartoons tend to have five fingered hands since technology has made animation on small details like that a lot easier.
for 2d animation it’s often because hands look too crowded with five fingers.

The more I think about it, the more the idea of Ratatoing also being a knock off of Flushed Away makes sense.
