HELLDIVERS™ 2 is a 3rd person squad-based shooter that sees the elite forces of the Helldivers battling to win an intergalactic struggle to rid the galaxy of the rising alien threats. From a 3rd person perspective, players use a variety of weapons (pistols, machine guns, flamethrowers) and stratagems (turrets, airstrikes, etc.) to shoot and kill the alien threats. Players can also aim down the sights for a more accurate 1st person camera view. Combat is accompanied by frequent sprays of blood and dismemberment as players exterminate the alien forces or players and squad mates are hit by environmental explosions or friendly fire. hot take, another warbond with 1 useful item in it and its another pistol kekw. unless they un-nerf assault rifles?
Looks good, but I’m nervous. The last two WB were very underwhelming. I hope this one proves me wrong. Just a little tired of buying the Webs only to get a couple of useful items.
From what it seems like you're reading from the Sony Blog, it sounds like they got someone to actually write it this time instead of an AI. Go back and read the Polar Patriots blog post and compare the two and you can feel the lack of care being mechanically shoved into the Polar Patriots post. This one feels a bit more organic. Might be worth trying, but it's really hinging on the balance patch. The lack of a balance patch and the Dark Fluid Shrieker end "surprise" did it for me and I don't dive no more. Dunno what they expect a solo diver to do against 50 shriekers and I just don't dive with randos. Unless it's Dremskiy. He's frend. I'm sure that mission would have been more enjoyable with more appropriate spawn rates, but the fact that even on Easy (2) difficulty I couldn't make it out alive.....yeah, unacceptable. Until they change that, my cape's in the wash.

It is mandatory for every Helldiver to say "Stick Around" every time the knife is thrown.
Since you mention it too, while they are at it, be cool if they added the predator as a side mission in the game or even aliens since the new aliens movie is out this year. That would be a cool collab and it would fit the game

Still waiting for the Constitution Rifle. A 5 round, bolt action rifle from the first game that had a fixed bayonette on the end of it for extended melee reach. Loved that gun.
Then I hope we get the bayonets for the Liberator back as well
That’s the super cool stuff we need in this game. But for some reason, the devs are just so terrified that something will be very powerful that now everything is releasing in a disappointing, underwhelming state. If they added that weapon in this game, it would probably do something stupid like having the bayonet break on you.
Here’s hoping Pilestedt as CCO will change some things for the better.

I think he’s been increasingly unable to actually control the game design choices and the people who were making the calls are responsible for the shit show *cough* Alexus *cough*
I’m decently optimistic that with him back in the drivers seat and able to focus on the game things will get back on track pretty quick.
@@munchkingod6 well, some of the communities are ridiculous and they have direct contact with the devs more so than your majority player base does. And they are all for that nerf culture because they are terrified the game will get too easy.
They fail to see the massive upside potential in making ALL of our tools powerful. The game is most fun to me, when my squad actually is mowing down enemies, but the horde. Just. Keeps. Coming.
Buff regular weapons, make us powerful, then expand past difficulty 9 to difficulty 10+ like in the first game, where the hordes get insanely large. Then the game is more positioning, ammo management, and squad play then running around while your stratagems go off cooldown.
@@absoluteandrew398 yeah absolutely agree. The thing I find most frustrating is that so much of the current weapon content is just *bad.*
It’s not that I want to be OP Rambo mode doing a no-death Helldive. It’s that there’s like… 4 guns I would actually use, and 2-3 more that I would consider for specific scenarios. Everything else is a deliberate choice to make the game harder. And those good weapons aren’t broken, they’re just actually fun to use.
I just want every (or at least most) gun to be fun and have a reason to take it. Pre-Nerf slugger for example had drawbacks with ROF and ammo, but the stagger and the AP made it a powerful contender. Now? I’m using the JAR, the DCS, or the Scorcher. There’s no reason to ever take the slugger again. For no reason.
And it’s deeply frustrating how much it limits variety needlessly.

As of then, it still worked. I WILL say that more recently, hunters seemed to hesitate to jump until I entered ADS (i.e. not as prepared to melee them)... but I didn't test it extensively-- was probably just bad luck.
Total I have 310 hours playing, unlocked everything, and for a while I only play lvl 9. Just so you can get an idea of my experience with the game-- not trying to brag. But as you can imagine I was playing a lot, and all the way up until I quit on 5/29/2024, the melee parry worked.
I would like melee weapon options/attachments to augment our melee capacities.
I quite like the skin options for the the Pelican, Mech, etc. I would like to see the previous warbonds get these.

It could be compared to "Meissa" on the bot front in. Its in the Ymir sector. It is a jungle planet.

Agreed, and if so it’s gonna have to A: do great single target damage, and B: have a lot of “ammo” - if its competing with the high damage, AOE, and utility (hole and factory destruction) of nades
I would take this over a nade if it had a lot of ammo and did a ton of damage with medium armor pen.
Anything less and I don't think it would be worth it.
The more I think about it the more I think it will be in the grenade slot.
The warbond offers a primary, a secondary, an enhancement, and.....a throwable. Similar variety to other warbonds.
I am imagining it may be a good alternative to thermite grenades but for medium targets. Thermite grenades are good cor aiming at the heads of heavies. If I could quick kill medium enemies and had more ammo it may be worth it in some builds.
@@davidking2011I believe it will be retrievable, so as long as you go back and pick it up it can have functionally unlimited ammo
@@awareqwx while I like your optimism, there is no reason to think that will be the case. We may be able to retrieve all knives, only missed knives, or no knives. Sea of Thieves for example only lets you only pick up missed throws.
Even so, how useful would it be to pick up knives at higher difficulty? The only possibility of them being useful would be if they could one or two shot many medium enemies and had a high ammo count, possibly with being able to pick them up.
@@sidpomy I was thinking that if it takes a grenade slot, then you'd dive with however many knives you'd usually have grenades, but that you can recover the knife from wherever it hits.
Ngl, the sleeveless armor looks like something straight out of XCOM 2 and I love it!
The knife would presumably fill the grenade slot. Maybe with the increased melee damage passive, whipping out the knife and fighting hand-to-hand rather than actually throwing it might be viable.
If it has the same melee damage as throwing damage, I’m all for that

The knife might have durability or you have a bunch of them
If its in the Grenade Slot you probably cant equip it as a Weapon, sadly

This is the Mobile Infantry / Catachan Jungle / Predator update we've been waiting for.
I don't think they're adding a gear score. That's not a Helldiver mechanic. I just think they're just decreasing the number of unlocks per Warbond. I'm honestly ok with it, since we only ever use 75% of the Warbond anyway, this gives them more time to focus on each individual item. I also wonder if the new "Pattern" system is going to apply to player armors at some point in the future
I doubt they'll release camo patterns for the older armour sets. It's more than likely they'll push on with the new stuff being more personalized.
@@MLPIceberg If you ask me (I love skins, etc) these should be paid for with Requisition, they shouldn't be in Warbonds. They should add a Requisition store in which these things release, I constantly have 50k Requisition with nothing to spend it on..
They need to put out a 'Firebat' armor. No armor so far screams 'I like fire' yet. Bonus points if it reduces burning damage/duration so you can walk into your fire without dying instantly.

Just realized that I can have a shotgun with the ballistic shield (I use it all the time against the bots, very fun playstyle; just make sure you’re running the defender or the pummeler)

I like the idea of having more customization in helldivers 2.
But a lot of players have been complaining about the last couple were bonds saying that they felt they needed more value in a war bond.
I'm saying 1/3 less armor and half less weapons being added, for what they are calling longer intermission between war bonds.
If it's still going to be $10 I don't think that's an increase in value, I'm willing to give this war bond a pass if they were developed in the customization system and working on the bounce patch at the same time.
However I will be disappointed if the next war bond has only 2 weapons and 2 armors.
I’m not paying for this warbond till the next one comes out , if they keep this momentum where they nerf the previous warbond to “spice up” the new ones than I’m done buying warbonds

The one that did those balancing things is now restricted to doing cosmetics. The CEO now CCO (creative design) essentially took over his place, and I imagine only buffs & "good things" will be coming out now, mostly.
i got sick of that with destiny 2, chopping and changing stuff. you’d spend time grinding and then they nerf it. im sick of companies trying to control the fun.

That throwing knife definitely looks interesting. What has me curious is what its selling point might be (aside from looking cool, of course).
I assume that it’s going to take up your grenade slot. So we’re talking about sacrificing aoe and the ability to destroy bug holes and fabricators (unless AH decided to make it do the latter). So we’d need some pretty good stuff in exchange to make it worth taking on a mission.
First, I think a large supply would be suitable - say 10 or more knives (though imo it should be 20). Then its handling should be such that they can be pulled out and thrown in rapid succession, no slower than a half second between throws, ideally. The armor penetration should probably be 4-5, not because it makes sense, but because it really does need something to make it a viable alternative to grenades. Then it will need some serious damage seeing as it will be a single target throwable.
I don’t know what the actual stats are on this throwing knife, but I personally hope they are really, really good, because without that, I don’t see it being practical outside of a solo easy or trivial mission.
Of course, it could instead be a secondary, which then would change my whole take on it.
I really hope its a Secondary, because then you can equip it and use a Melee Attack, with the new Armor Passive.

Hopefully they will fix the theme of the other warbonds. Like ice boots and just make the tiger stripe and woodland into arctic color camo and give us that! I bet that knife is melee and CAN be thrown. That means more melee damage! Woot! Stim booster + stim armor + stim pack! Medic fantasy incoming! Also, we usually get 3 armor sets and 2 more primary guns. Maybe they don’t want to make too many weapons because of redundancy.

They are taking a huge risk. If the patch is bad and the weapons on this warbond are bad the game is done. I am hoping and praying that things go well. I miss playing helldivers. I miss having fun. I don't want to play a chore.
It's difficult for me to be excited for warbonds anymore. The last couple of have been duds, or, had nice weapons in them that then got nerfed into the ground.
Yeah, I'm really less excited about the warbond and more hopeful of the balancing. I feel like the Liberator Carbine is just going to be a worse Stalwart, in my opinion. I don't see the devs having those MGs in the game be worse than the upcoming LC. It would make the MGs not worth using (they already kinda are not worth using, but they each were made to fight certain enemies even the Heavy MG.)

Honestly i haven't played for 2 weeks now, got everything unlocked all currency maxed out, nothing to unlock and most of my group I played with moved on to other games (edit: just tried to play some random games, and the first 2 games I tried to join made my game crash 🫤)
I haven't touched HD2 in about 4 weeks. I love it the game, I stopped around lvl 80 after getting burned out to many times. I sincerely hope the game goes back to the glory days, I hate that I kept getting burned out after 2 or 3 matches.
Anyone else feel a little cautious and unimpressed?
If the way the warbonds have always been revealed is three armors and primaries, one secondary and one grenade, why change from that pattern, there's an entire month between releases and armors along with weapons have been seen long before their official release date.
One less armor, what's weird is there's been another armor that fits a similar aesthetic for a long time now, it could've been the light and the light be the medium, as it's the same general design of even the default armor, their passive is cool though.
There's only one primary and it's another Liberator, HD1 had only 3 Liberator variants and they were that because one was a carbine and the other the battle rifle versions of, they had different scopes, sizes and big differences in stats but if it's a good spot between the Liberator and the Defender I might like it.
The throwing knives, I wish it was like in sea of thieves where you can melee with it and only does aiming make it throwable, maybe grenading throws it and if you have any when meleeing you use the knife instead for more damage, if not that maybe being able to hold more than just 4 or 6 and be able to pick them up after use.
The booster sounds good.
The star of the warbond imho has to be the shotgun, I'm a little worried that the fire all 3 barrels will be like the double barrel you find, where it'll fire both barrels quickly instead of the same time, because they're treated like a burst fire, though I think it could've been a quad barrel.
Lastly the cosmetics for Pelican, EXO and Hellpods:
EXO's hardly used because both pretty much suck, this one is just for the Patriot.
Pelican you hardly do see or stick around to get a look at.
Hellpods are meant to go into the ground.
The hellpod skin applies to all hellpods, including support weapon pods, turrets, emplacements, etc. which have a thing that pops up and sticks around for a while
I’m not a fan of less weapons in the war bonds and more time in between them. I don’t think it’s hard for them to just program them with better stats. It wasn’t like they were coming out buggy and broken other then the air burst launcher. They literally just have to raise numbers.
I kind of wish we didn't have to randomize the skin tone. It's always felt weird that I have a "career" in stats and accomplishments that apparently involved hundreds of disposable soldiers.
yeah, my personal headcanon has been that when someone signs on to be a helldiver, they are placed in cryo and cloned. A neural link is maintained for consistency, but it allows them to die over and over but maintain consistency and improve.
Kind of like that episode of Doctor Who where they worked with toxic materials, so they used clones for the dangerous work.
Don't think of yourself as the helldiver think of yourself as the ship or are The collective helldiver "regiment" of your ship

I use melee a lot. Pushing enemies off me, whacking scavengers to save ammo... pretty useful, more damage is nice

I'm hoping the throwable knife still does melee damage with it. It's also kinda a missed opportunity we don't have a shield bash with the tactical shield backpack
I'm maxed out on everything and have over 4k credits so I'm just helping out new cadets and farming more credits while I'm at it.

I hope the different skins for ships, hellpods and mechs can be the precursors to armors and helmets getting the option to change shader/color so we can make them match color schemes (or not of the player chooses)
Would also allow squads to all choose the same colors to match.

Getting the vibe that the knife is gonna take the grenade slot. I hope not, but I'm not seeing this take a secondary or support slot. We shall see...
The stun, smoke, impact and incendiary impact are all listed as “special grenades”, thus they’re probably going to change the name to “special throwable” and add in the throwing knife seeing as that would be a minor change.
Don't fret. The Democratic Detonation is nearly guaranteed to offer vastly more value and fun over this warbond.
Adjudicator is a fun battle rifle now. Eruptor one shots most medium targets. The Grenade Pistol is perhaps the single most valuable item as it greatly increases bug hole/bot factory destruction. The crossbow is cool but not great. The thermite grenade is great against heavy armor, especially if thrown on a weak spot. It feels like a throwing knife...that burns and explodes.

I don't think it is possible for the new warbond to be better unless the throwing knife is stupidly OP. The slightly different Liberator certainly won't factor in.

Wish we had some sort of idea of just how much of a melee damage boost the armor gives, the thought of punching a hunter and sending it a flying corpse is a beautiful one
Warbond looks cool but let's get an update on when they are reworking how armor works and buff weapons, unique buffs not just raising DMG numbers.
All I am happy for right now is that we got a new perk in the armoury.

Lets hope they retroactively rework some of the old armours dor those unique environmental passives. All and all this new warbond looks very promising
melee might be weak but the utility of a stun cannot be understated. it completely stops broodmothers in their tracks and prevents most terminids from landing an attack for a moment.

I swear that patrols were eased a while ago. It does not feel like unfair bullshit any more and I swear 7 difficulty feels more manageable, than 5th difficulty was during PSN drama days.

One issue with the last war bond was that the Tenderizer ended up being a Liberator reskin due to the Liberator getting buffed before the war bond came out. That said, I don't mind getting new Liberator variants if they can fit a need/play style. But the ARs in general need that rework.

im confused because like 3 weeks ago ah said they hired a few new staff to help so they can work on patches and warbonds and it not slow them down. now we’re being told warbonds won’t be a monthly thing and the amount of content in them will be less. how do you hire more staff and now work slower and have less output… if they didn’t have 3 different patches of nerfs they wouldn’t have to undo all this bs.

For those of us who have been playing for ages we already know it when we see it (550 Speed), but mentioning whether an armor is a +Speed & -Armor, or -Speed & +Armor variation may be useful. There are some exceptions, but I believe both Light and Medium have a collection of "Variant A / Variant B" armors, and is why things like the Breaker Light Armor are faster than the Light medic passive armor we have (which has slightly more armor to compensate).
I think the throwing knife takes your grenade slot. Looks good either way.

The knife will be perfect for picking your teeth with based on how arrowhewd distributes damage for our weapons. And if the 2 new weapons can kill wn explosive barrel with a full clip i will be genuinly surprised.

They are giving the skins for the pelican, pod and Mecha and a title. Overall it's 1 less item cuz we lose 2 primaries, 1 armor, 1 banner and 1 cape.
So not only we get 2 less weapons and 1 less armor set, but we also get 1 less cape and banner.
All for the same price. Best part? The ONLY PRIMARY is a fkn liberator, the same exact base gun but it shoots a bit faster for more recoil. Not even a new and unique gun. This warbond is the worst.
We should have got the battle rifle in this pass, alongside the big sniper rifle. And the last armor set was gonna be a super cool broken armor that resembles the helghast from Killzone.
Instead we get this shit. and people are clapping for getting less.
I am also incredibly disappointed.

One less player card
One less cape.
I get the new "quality over quantity" and focus on cosmetics, but I feel even by these metrics this warbond is greatly inferior.
The liberator carbine is a barely modified version of one of the least used weapons. I doubt any of us ever thought "you know this liberator is so sluggish, I would trade to higher recoil if I could whip it around a bit faster!"
The shotgun is ok, the throwing knife is guaranteed to be hot garbage unless it is so good one will take it over grenades like stun, thermite, impact, or incendiary. Looks cool, but I am worried it won't be worth it outside the novelty.
The issue with the other warbonds wasn't a lack of inspiration for new weapons, it was crap balancing. Even the Polar Patriots warbond would have been immensely popular if the tendeizer actually hit hard and the Purifier could one shot medium enemies like the eruptor instead of taking 5 shots.
Quality over quantity? Two armors vs three. Sure they look cool, but so have the ones when we got 3 per warbond. Sure they have unique passives, but so did two of the other warbonds. Not having a new unique passive is not "focusing on quantity, it is being lazy." Even random people on the forums can each come up with a dozen fun and unique passives.
Focus on cosmetics?
Recolors for one mech, the drop ship, and the hellpod. They are ok, but not anything to get too excited about. I have a feeling the Pelican would be client side only sincr it's shared. Also, a reskin of a mech no one uses?
Also, while the armors have great cosmetic qualities, it's still 2 vs 3.
Again, 66% less primaries, 33% less armor and appearances, 33% less capes, 33% less player cards, 33% less player cards.
I really like the theme of the new warbond, but I am very worried and disappointed that this is all we get with double the time between warbonds.
Also, I find it amusing they give this reason for slowing down warbonds:
"This will prevent us from simply adding more of everything, which can lead to weapons that feel redundant".
Then they just add in a *barely different* version of the Liberator as the only new primary. The irony is too much.
"Allow our helldivers to roleplay their favorite soldier fantasies, and then nerf the shit out of it".
I cannot wait to throw my knife at anything in the game that it's not a Scaveger, does zero damage and gets lost in the midde of the swarm.

In most shooters, the way they balance & differentiate similar Assault Rifles is FIRING RATE.
IMO the base Liberator's DPS should feel similar to the *_Stalwart_* at its default fire mode (850 RPM).
Liberator: ~800 RPM / 60 Ammo / 60 DMG
AP Liberator: ~750 RPM / 45 Ammo / 64 DMG
Concussive Liberator: 640 RPM / 45 Ammo / 75 DMG
Liberator Carbine: 960 RPM / 60 Ammo / 50 - 60 DMG

AR-61 Tenderizer: 600 RPM / 35 Ammo / 90 DMG (Current = 60 Dmg)

So, i have watched multiple youtubers this morning raving about the new warbond. And you know what i noticed? They all are repeating some of the same lines. The one that sticks out the most is all of them say right off the bat that this new warbond "hits hard". Tin foil hat time, but it looks like AH is doing a PR campaign with content creators. Funny that they couldn't even get that right and sent the same script to everyone. Lol

They say they don't want to add weapons that feel "redudant" the proceed to add one of the most redundant and generic primaries we've seen yet.
only 1 primary, only 2 armor sets, 'customization' that's literaly just paint over already existing models and grenade that will probably be buggy as hell or straight up bad. I sure hope this warbond is cheaper than the rest, if not then it's a really really bad sign.

I’m with you, this WB objectively has less content than the others. I will say it looks cool and everything actually fits the theme unlike PP last month but if it’s 1k SC like the others it’ll be a total ripoff considering the lower amount of content
One collaboration I definitely want to see in Helldivers would be Star Wars. I (and probably many others) would go absolutely feral for some storm trooper and clone trooper armor sets/weapons.
Not while K.K. is in charge of LF. She will force changes into the game you will hate, and it is clear she does not care about losing money to push her agenda. she would run HD into the ground because that would be her only purpose for getting LF involved with HD to begin with. I am all for a Clone Trooper-esk uniform and mech cosmetics to make them look like walkers, but not as long as the current leadership of LF is in control.

I can’t wait for every single weapon except for one to be untested, pre-nerfed, and with the aim scope misaligned.
If you want a clear indication of what exactly Weapon Handling is, grab the JAR Dominator and swing it around a bit. You'll ABSOLUTELY feel it in seconds; a percentage-based increase to Weapon Handling effectiveness, if they go high, should feel absolutely night and day, and cause the Dominator to give the Plasma Scorcher a huge run for its money.
It also could make the Eruptor and machinegun Support Weapons much, MUCH more satisfying, though the latter will be hurting for that Recoil control of the other two passives.
Looking forward to roleplay the RA3 Peacekeeper with the SG22 and the Ballistic Shield!

I think the throwing knofe will count as melee damage making the armor and throwing knife go hand in hand and hopefully making the throwing knife beastly and so much fun to use
They need to fix the running animation with the new SMG. The bare arms clip into the chest armor deep enough that it looks really bad. It was painfully obvious when you showed a close up of a Diver running at 10:38 min in. That elbow needs to come out about 2 to 3 inches relative.
I mean, sure, it wouldn’t hurt to polish animations, but this is frankly a trivial cosmetic issue - something that you probably shouldn’t be paying much attention to while a swarm of bugs is chasing you down.
And considering more serious concerns like balancing, bugs, exploits, and the need for a steady stream of new content, I’d say the devs shouldn’t pay much attention to it either, at least for now.

They removed a set of armor for a pattern on you're exo which is still trash BTW ANOTHER assault rifle that will most likely be just as mid as all the other ones, shotgun pistol looks decent but still nowhere as useful as the grenade launcher pistol, and we've been begging for a meele weapon and we get throwing knives instead which I'm assuming it'll take away you're grenade so that's garbage and putting yourself at a huge disadvantage for just 2 throwing knives when you carry 4 grenades at stock the team in arrowhead I don't fucking get why they have to hold their game back from being even better this game right here is the best example of "what the developers want vs what the gamer want"

The throwing knife will likely replace your grenade. It is listed as special throwable which is the same category as thermals, impacts and stuns

I think another cool armor boost option for future armors would be a mech pilot armor. Something like turning speed and movement speed boost or something.
I would love to see an overhaul to the armors from the warbond with incentives to use different armors on different planets, even something small like the polar gear providing a small boost to stamina regen on cold planets and these new ones on like jungle-esq planets. Something like the laser weapons, I just like the idea of changing the gear im on depending on the planets although I can easily see the balance issue with this and it is a definitely in pay to play/win territory, maybe they could issue some standard armors that have the buffs idk I'm just yapping
