I recently bought my first ECBP (C922) as well as my first store pick private barrel (both for $69.99). For me, they are both very good. And both punch well above their price. I've had $200+ bourbons that can't compete. I am grateful there are still distilleries that put out high quality bourbon at reasonable prices instead of going down the cash grab road. Thank you Elijah Craig!
I really like and enjoy this new format. Myself as much as I love EC I don’t chase after all the ECBP’s as I’m the only person in my house that really enjoys bourbon. I have also been focusing more on the EC single barrel store picks in my area as all the ones I have tried so far have been a flavor beast.
I’m only buying “premium “ versions of these from now on. To me, that usually means high age and high proof. Once a year or every other year is enough for me. There is a lot of great stuff out there that makes it unnecessary to buy 3 of these a year. I can’t drink it all. I think that Heaven Hill’s ECBP private selection program has taken away from these releases. I have yet to find a pick worth the $90. As a consumer, I’ve noticed a HH glut the past few months. My big box store in Illinois is bursting at the seams with HH 7 BiB and other HH products. Evan William’s Single Barrel has made a reappearance. So, there are signs of a bourbon glut in general. Anyhow, my all time favorite is C920. I have yet to pop my C923. Thanks for the review and content. I’m a fan of scores, but you guys are the bosses lol.
Nice review! Like the new system! My friend sells ECBP’s for 55.00 and Larceny for 44.00 so I always buy:)! Cheers!
I do like these. But with all the releases it’s hard to keep up in shelf space and budget lol. Like the new format of buy or pass
So my favorite of the ECBP since going to this bottle style is the C919 and I still have 2 of them that I'm drinking slowly
If you find out one offensive, wait till you see the Elijah Craig private barrel store pics that are the same age and proof but at least $92. This one had 67 to 75 is palatable, but not when you compare it to the previous age statement. Heaven hill can kick rocks.
Loved Bill singing at the intro lol 😂. Great review. I like this review format personally. B524 has been getting wildly mixed reviews.
I’ve been done with ECBP since C920. I bunkered 15 pre-2020 bottles so that’s why. I still hunt for older batches at retail which can be found coast-to-coast if you hunt hard enough. In a couple years when they throw us another 13+ yr 130+ proof C923 I’ll buy one again. …maybe.
I stopped buying those. Have a dozen of them already and buying more just keeps me trying to get to the hundreds of bottles I have yet to crack. I’d definitely recommended to the drinker that just buys a few each year.
Thanks for your honest opinion...A123 and C923 were great but the 24s to me have taken a step back
So glad to hear this review. I tried B524 and it drank hot to me so passed and got A124 instead. Appreciate the new format
Havent had this one yet. I have a Toasted EC and was not impressed at first. It's been open about 2-3 months and I had a pour last night and it was great. I thought I didn't need a backup, but looks like I do.
If I happen to go into a store and they are on the shelf I’ll grab one but I won’t make any special trips to try to track them down. And if it’s a hyped bottle like C923 I’ll just forget it won’t see it anyway.
Just pick one up. Have not opened it yet....cheers
I get that play-dough note on makers mark. It transfers to the mid pallet.
Liking the new system
Still have a B523 and two C923's to open after a couple of my store picks BP's. The HH profile matches my taste, so I'll probably grab a B524 at some point, just not for more than MSRP. Nice review.
Great review!! Bill however is no Marshall M...
Bought a bottle last month. Haven't opened yet. Still have a A123 that needs to be cracked.
Yes. Keep this format. Super simple!
You got it!
Like the new review. Real world for sure.
❤
Micro batches! My B524 beats a124 and the C 923 that I have. Go figure.
I do wish they were a little cheaper, 55-65 range.
I haven't seen 124 yet.😢
😭😭
@@TheAverageDrinker 🤪💩 What area of MO are ya from?
A124 was bad. B524 is great!
You ever eat play-doh as a kid?
👀
😂
No... I swear 😅
I have 1 a123 & b123 and 2 C923 on the shelf so I’m on a holding pattern at the moment
