      Yes! I started out with a 3lb. tumbler. Only took a few months to realize I needed another one. Now I have a 12lb. as well! 😂

    HOORAY, another cutting video! My addiction to finding out what’s inside rocks just gets stronger 😁. I was all prepared to say that maybe-granite was my favorite, but they’re all just so magical, even the less dramatic ones. I love the information you provide on each rock and its features. Also, when you mentioned that the boys are having friends over, I felt such a pang... I remember having friends over, back in the Pleistocene era

    White quartz because of the cool designs in it. It would make a beautiful pendant. I also really like the agate and green churt.

      @@RockhoundingLife Do you ever sell any of your slabs? I love making my own cabs for jewelry and would love to work some of them. We don't have many rocks here in Florida, but we do have pieces from out west where we used to live.

    Such beautiful specimens! The two cherts were definitely my favourite, however the agate with black opal, as well as the one with all the pronouced crystals were stunning as well. Thank you for taking the time to create this video. I eagerly look forward to a video on jewelry made from the green chert!

    Hi there. New subscriber here. I really enjoy videos of cutting open rocks. You got a nice saw, I was just looking at one like that. Lol, making me wanna get one for sure now. Some good choices of rocks to cut through. Hard to pick a favorite. I liked the quartz Epidote, the second chert was great too. But the final one is very nice!!! Can one have too many tumblers 🤔 Nah! Thanks for sharing

      Hey there, thanks for joining us! Our cutting rocks videos are the most popular on the channel with respect to viewer retention. I love my saw but I just wish I had gotten the 10" instead of the 7". And you're right, there is no such thing as too many tumblers. If I had 10 they would all be running!

    I am in the mountains of COlorado on 12 acres of ROCKS everywhere. I learn so much from you rockhounds! I have piles of rocks and fossils all over. Need to start cutting...

    I know this is an older video, but wow, I love all of them. I think as a favorite I would have to say the charts. I've never seen chert those colors. I find banded chert that's gray tones. But that purple and greens. Just blows my mind. Thanks for sharing this one.

    I really like the andesitic rock at 8:20, I love the big colorful chunks inside! Rock on!

      Thanks Peg! That one is an interesting one for sure. After looking at it closer the color profile makes me lean toward it being metamorphic. It looks like it contains epidote crystals and epidote is almost always associated with Metamorphic rocks. Probably a metamorphosed granite or some other intrusive igneous rock..

      @@RockhoundingLife I agree, real quartzite counters are nice but I’m not a fan of the engineered composite stuff. I prefer gneiss or granite with giant garnets though! 😁

    I love watching your videos. I went to go toRoss Creek beach today but couldn't figure out how to get down there. Can you help me out on how you got down there? I would really appreciate it thanks. You do an awesome job in explaining about the rocks you find I find it fascinating!!

      Sure thing It's easy! Just head all the way down Ross Creek rd. and park at the hair pin turn right in front of the fishing shanty. You can walk right out to the beach from there.

    Sweet cuts! I really dig the one at 8:30 and the rhyolite... So pretty. That chert has a beautiful color too tho. It WILL make some great jewelry. Please show if you do! 😎

    Hello RL, I'm thinking a couple rocks I've cut just might be chert, they have similar colors and characteristics. I'm liking the granitic, not conglomerate one, very nice. Thanks for sharing.

    I think a lot of people would call those colorful cherts "picture jasper." I'm not positive, but it strikes me as the same stuff. It's beautiful.

    Hard to choose a fave but I will have to go with the rhyolite. They were all beautiful! I think it's time for me to get a saw. I have lots of rocks in buckets here too!

    They are all great! Loved them all. My fav was the epidote. It literally looked like a map! Insanely beautiful! Epidote and unakite are my favs and I can’t wait to find some on Lake Superior!! Great video yet again! 👍🙃

      @@RockhoundingLife I have a lot of epidote in my tumbler right now. They all look so pretty! Tmrw they all go on the last and final stage! I can’t wait to see the outcome and if they turn out!
      I was hoping you could tell me what camera you are using? Do you have a go pro or would a nice camera work? I’m debating on starting my own RUclips channel. But I don’t know if I can just use my phone. I also sent ya an email. Hopefully I’m not bothering you too much. Any and all advice is very appreciated! Thank you!

    What kind of wet saw are you using? I just sold my old MK Diamond. LOVED it, BUT...it's time for something newer!

    Those pieces from NL are quite different and have some very nice patterns inside. That saw does a pretty fine job of leaving a clean-cut (or is it the cutter?)! I came close to buying another brand of wet-saw last week, on sale, but it had some reviews that weren't great and the price was not much different than the Ridgid. So, for now, I will wait to find a deal on one of those!

      I'm really happy with this saw. I only wish I had splurged and got the 10" instead of the 7". The blade is fantastic. Cuts a smooth edge and has lasted quite awhile.

    Oh so that what thisrock is, i have a piece of Chert that green and redish. I got it in a bag of river rocks from a dollar store. It has some really nice greens in it. I want to cut it open one day, I just don't own a lapidary nor do I know anyone that does.

    Which saw do you prefer more the saw that you used in this video which they sell at Harbor Freight or the 10-in Trim Saw with Vice made by Hi-Tech?
    Also which saw allows the deepest cut radius?

      I prefer the Hitech diamind saw. It provides a deeper cut radius.

    What kind of saw are you using? I have some small Yellowstone River agates I'd like to cut, along with some cool flint and chert pieces, too.

    Great video. I’m learning a lot from you. I collected some green stones last year from Cambria and Jade Cove, Big Sur. They are very nice and most of them are translucent. When I posted them in FB, I was told they were chert. I thought they were Jade. My question: are cherts translucent? Thanks in advance.

      Hi there! I'm glad you are liking our channel. Chert is Opague, not transluscent. If you collected your stones from a place called Jade Cove and they are transluscent then chances are they are more likely jade than chert. Thanks for watching!!

      Yes, as long as you have a blade that is rated to cut granite.

      Hi! I have a 7" wet tile saw. We use a diamond blade for cutting rocks. Works awesome! And there are videos on RUclips on how to sharpen your blades to make them last longer. 🙂

    I like the chert. Got anything from Nova Scotia that's blue(ish), and hard enough to put in a ring? Not sure where you are exactly, but we're probably within an hour drive. Collaborate on a piece maybe?

      I don't have anything bluish from Nova Scotia.....some slag that is dark blue. I'm actually getting into ring making now and a possible colab in the future is definitely doable.
