Torque specs are usually quoted, and occasionally power is quoted (in Watts), but this is *meaningless* without standardizing on a specific cadence (in rpm)! As a Mechanical Engineer, I'm frustrated that the very simple practice of specifying torque at a specific rpm seems to elude EMBN & other channels describing Pedelecs and electric bikes! Power is the most important value to riders, not mere torque specs without referring to the rpm at which that power is produced. I suggest that you presenters insist on bike makers only quoting torque at rpm, or insist on an industry standard pedaling rpm (such as 90 rpm) to give real meaning to their quoted torque specs. This needed practice is becoming increasingly relevant with integrated motor/transmission systems that can modulate both torque and cadence, making the determination of power performance like nailing Jell-O to a wall! Do the math! Power is torque times rpm; simply quoting only torque mean *nothing!*
Continuous power is 250W by EU regulations. Peak power is more but manufacturers stopped talking about it years ago to avoid troubles so they are giving torque specs instead. Not rpm is specified because then you can calculate the power which will be more than 250W.
an independent engineer type with a (computerized load control etc.) dyno could test the various brands of motors and then publish the results! straight off the motor would be best. maybe you, at your own expense (thanks in advance)! this would eliminate the legal and possible urge to inflate the numbers by manufacturers. of course you can’t receive any free product or you are then suspect. government and law enforcement officials must not be allowed to read the results.
It's also worth noting that a E-motor's torque curve is... Pretty flat, most are permanent magnet motors so it's not PERFECTLY flat but it's close. And yeah, 250 Watt legal limit. Some (if not most) motors can have that limit disabled (my TSDZ2 conversion mid-drive is pushing 768), and there are madatory speed limits in place (mine's disabled, buuuut cooked the motor core so it doesn't go that much faster anymore). As such, Torque really *is* the only differance between them.

the holy grail of ebike design is manufacturing a 36c-42c 650b or bigger wheel that stays true very well with a Rim brake offering for those who want it (to save weight for one reason). it would have replaceable battery and user serviceable. max of 1200watts and 72volt battery but ride and look like a normal bike. thiss is done with a discreet hub motor. you can still run nice cranks, derailleur systems. As a non e biker, no hate against them just not ready to switch. I’m curious if this motor tech shows really make any sense since it’s really only the bike manufacturers that they can be selling to and it’s not like your buying whatever ebike you looking at based on what motor it has. I know the bike industry riders hate standards but I really think an agreed upon mounting standard by bike makers would help. Seems ebike Is still in its infant stages, can’t buy a motor and controller package so if you have an issue your stuck with dealing with your bike manufacturer, if out of warranty or a used ebike your stuck with dealing with the bike manufacturer again and I believe some will not sell a motor and will only warranty (maybe that’s changed now). If there were a mounting standard it would solve a lot of that and also allow aftermarket competition for when the motor eventually fails out of warranty.

@@chinguyen8778 thanks but that's even worse 🤣 look how sensitive our torque sensing is it's 0.02 sec not counting the damping.. better of suited to an electronics show. Again marketing nonscence. At no time did anyone pull me up for my synergy comment which was a complete ridicule (for a polite word) of these whole marketing driven showcases.
@@stevenconnor4221 I agree, the majority of products at these shows are just attempts at marketing ideas and concepts already available. Let's hope a small company out there goes all out and launch a fully integrated mid mount motor gearbox combo to challenge the big boys at shimano/sram etc. With the Lal-bikes Supre drive release, derailleur designs have reached its peak in design.
These damn bots are everywhere.
all these emtb‘s have such small batteries.. my ebike has a 500Wh battery and I would like even more capacity.
If they allow a bigger motor, one gear would do the lot. I have bafang ultra and they can pull over 20mph in the lowest gear so you don't need a gear box.
I have watched al your videos. Seen many new things. New things from many brands except specialized…. Nothing new there?
Hola poque no se puede traducir en Español
Nothing new from Brose?
Looks like the most expensive to fix ever .
Who in their right mind would pay the price of a good 2nd hand car fo one of these bikes ?
I want to dive in Scotland puddle with all e-bike and continue ride like nothing happened
That water tank test is a pretty poor attempt at showing water resistance, 👎Get that tank full of Yorkshire Bog water that you carnt see thru !! That’s a test !! 😡
We're sure the future development of waterproof motors will mean you can do that. However, current motors can withstand pretty much any sort of wet weather riding. 👍
Guys, really, ten minutes total length video is not indepth really. Its more reading the description.
Mahle are German Steve
Truck Run. Lol, I swear, the Chinese just pick two words out of the dictionary when naming their companies. They never actually consult with a native English speaker before committing, comical.
Why not name it Chairman Wow???
Like any mass-media show, it's all...propaganda by companies. Just because the model bike does this & that at the Eurobike show, does not mean your bike, is gonna be capable of the same. Everything at the show is spiced-up, to attract buyers.
Hi
more power and watt about the ini mini litle chain after 1500 km it's completly worn out hand over those 600 euro to replace it ( sram very expensive ) !!! a surron can handle it but dat is a 125 cc chain only made in CHINA !!!
All nice bikes and all but the cost is ridiculous and most electric bikes then they're handicapped by E.U speed limit which is too low and you can't have a throttle yet there are escooters everywhere that can go faster and have throttles, the E.U are a joke!!!
Whats with that reaction at 6.35,,, 🤡🤬
Okay??
How & what?
I caught that too @Martin, and wondered "wtf? Is Steve throwing shade at other attendees?" That's unkind, uncool, uncalled for. That's the kind of thing that should be edited out, not emphasized as humorous. Shame on you @Steve! You might have just lost a subscriber.
Hi Martin & T3R1N4! This was purely lighthearted humour aimed at no one. It's safe to say Steve had a long day reporting all the new and exciting e-bike tech that Eurobike had to offer.😂 We apologise for the miss understanding. 👍
Y all evokes look like a mntn bike a womens scooter bike or a motorcycle/moped
Remember, the bicycle industry thrives on gimmicks. The light-weight angle was always meaningless, and is even more so with e-bikes. Direct drive is the holy grail, but how would the industry monetize such a simple design? Gears are an endless maze of gimmickry.
Pretty pathetic you didn’t mention anything at all about Specialized or Brose? Not sponsored anymore? So you boycott them?
Ozzy - there's not much new with Brose . last i heard they had created a stronger belt but no redesign or upgrade of their motor.
But that was last year ,so ,,,,, ?
Yamaha cost too damn much 🤓😏😫😩🥺
You guys need to do more riding and less news! It’s getting boring, I want to see shredding and action!
We'll be back to more normal this week! Check out this video we've recently released! 👍 ruclips.net/video/5HVdNFut52g/видео.html
I'm just amazed on how many people want a bicycle but don't want to spin the pedals. ...
I'm amazed by the amount of people still not having figured out the concept and value of ebikes.
@@speckdratz Where I live, people cycling with E-BIKES on bicycle lanes go as fast as 40 or 45 km/h. Bicycle lanes shared with kids and elderly, walking and playing, those new "cyclists" just don't care.
They simply put in danger the whole bicycle friendly concept (and the people on the sidewalk shared with bicycle lanes).
Accidents with e-bikes are on the rise.
I'm not against e-bikes, but we need regulations! Those monsters that rides up to 45km/h have no place on bicycle lanes. There should be a limit to 25 or 20 km/h on lanes shared with people.
And... I don't have a driving licence, I'm a cyclist since my early days.
@@nikoulph you say you’re not against ebikes but then blame ebikes. I think your beef is not really with ebikes but more with irresponsible riders. But I suppose it’s easier to spoil the fun for everyone rather than go for the exceptions or actually enforce the laws that already exist in most countries. All purpose built emtbs are speed restricted by law in most countries and derestricting is already illegal. What else can you do that is also fair to the majority of riders?
@@lukeh7854 100% agree with your point. I'm not against e-bikes but how new users use it on bicycle lanes. And there are no laws as yet where I live to limit the speed on bicycle lanes...
Philip - Excessive speed in bike lanes is one reason why the EU has the 25 kph cut off on motors .
45 is waay to fast for a bike lane with kids and older riders .
All that "stealth" crap!
Shows how pathetic a lot of People are!!! 😂
Just liefestyle crap, no one needs!
If you are a hardcore biker... good!
If you are not, better for you to have fun on an ebike then non!
No I would not ride that bike. Its overbuilt to look ugly.
I don't know which is more gross the technology or the person presenting it in the video.
Thumbs down baby don't worry I'm test subscribing ever
Horrible video, no real information.
PLS check CYCMotor
Yes. I would ride that bike.
