More bikes without rear derailleur 💯
1000%
@@chassdesk Just 1000%?🤣 Why not 100000%? Poor understanding of maths and wrong use of percentages unfortunately
@@quitemountainous2528 😂
meanwhile sram releases some shift group costing more than these motors
@@albertmonsieur7832 the new sram drivetrain is obsolete already!
I love the look of the Hybridizer. I can actually see myself getting one when it hopefully starts selling in the UK.
Looks like some great motor systems incoming in the next year or two. Great
More great stuff, great to watch 😊
Nice to see the new tech I break a derailleur every year on a least one of my bikes , my next bike will be a gearbox motor combination if they pedal ok over the speed of the motor
I love the Hybridizer ideas. There is so much more thought into it if you look into it..
I'd love to hear more of your impressions on Valeo-Effigear that 'needs some work' and the intra-drive you've just ridden. Also did you have a chance to ride the FEV motor-gearbox equipped ebike?
That Strock ebike is DOPE!
Love the internal geared motors and rear hubs with gates carbon drive!!! Less external parts to potentially break. Seems like a no brainer…for MTB/EMTB anyways.🤙
Awesome show guys cheers
Glad they keep silence in mind. My specific issue is gear grinding with my 180 Nm Befang. It isn't motors fault but instead the geometry of the suspension with the derailer. When on the road the shifts are strong and grindless but when going over logs etc it is grind away. Also stick and plants get stuck in the derailer gears all the time. Internal hub systems are therefore my interest. The Pinion looks really interesting.
Silent motors are like thinner phones. Nobody asked for it, nobody cares and yet the designers are always using this as a lame bragging point. Heres a better idea- focus on the important things like DURABILITY and WATER PROOFING, etc. Too many pooped motors on ebikes out there, im scared now my warranty is done.
Or price, just saying 🙄...
Nailed it. I’m with you 🤟
Silence = higher efficiency. If the motor is making noise, that sound energy alone is a loss of efficiency (as well as an indication of other potential losses that CREATE said noise). So trying to minimize noise isn't just an aesthetic choice, it's an engineering necessity.
@@spdcrzy Yes and no. It takes very little power to make quite intense sounds. Then again, as you say, sound may be a sign of other losses, but most of it is going to be felt as heat.
@@markotrieste All of those things are related. Heat, sound, and mechanical losses are ALL intertwined. If you're making more sound, you're also likely making more heat from friction, which means you're also losing mechanical efficiency, which makes the motor spin up harder to compensate (ALSO creating more heat soak), which makes things even louder...you get the point.
Thank you for testing! ALL POWER. NO LIMITS. 💯😊 -> 6:28
Did you try the maxon bikedrive air?
6:30 - The legality depends on how it works. Speed-pedelecs (at least in Denmark - an EU country) can be throttle controlled up to 20 km/h and beyond that the motor is only allowed to be on when the speed is below 45 km/h, and the bike you were on could easily be considered an electric moped (vehicle category L1e-B) for legislative purposes as long as it keeps below 45 km/h.
it is odd how the Sachs/BMZ motor is not on more bikes . there are however three or four bikes in sweden that use the Sachs . two of them are cargo bikes . the motor was originally designed for cargo bikes but Nox from Austria was the first to use it on the e MTBs . i was told by my dealer in Germany that sold me the bike that sachs won't allow anyone but their factory employees to work on the motor . if there is a problem the motor is usually replaced. it has been very reliable for me and a total blast to ride steep hills . The power is delivered at very low cadence , between 40 and 60 rpm's . with my bosch cx i have to pedal very fast one steep hills but not with the sachs . it's smooth fairly quiet and runs cool even when user a heavy load . a very impressive motor .
Talking about talking about and actually riding are much different. Friends!
Some of these commenters should just get a dirtbike. 45HP is when it starts getting fun.
@@bradsanders6954 Oh but i do.....
I reckon the Crossworks should have min 160 / 170 travel and more aggressive geometry. Then with a low gear to get to the top and a high gear to get back down you would have a great bike park bike. A bit niche I'll admit but I reckon you could make that a lot of fun to ride, hard to break and much easier to maitain.
7:00 Steve is actually my idol 😅 always stay young (and unapologetic) at heart my dude! All the best from back in England 🇬🇧
How to change the belt? You need to get the belt inside the rear triangle?
PINION MGU E1.12 with gearbox is a future
whats your thoughts on the sports drive mid motor from dapu
You picked, great ebikes!
Bafang M510 FC2.0 is not that bad at all. Strong (showing 750W peak, and can go all time full power) and a test ride for range it was 160km with 840Wh batt.
If somebody wants to set motor Bafang CAN parameters, firmware, calibration check for K1 Flash device on my YT channel and get more info in description.
Normally, waiting until things evolve is a never ending story. But I wonder, now, with internal gearboxes, belt drive, ABS, auto tuning suspension and other goodies going "mainstream', if we are at a technological paradigm shift.
An with that, another wait until the kinks for any new tech has been sorted, 2025 might be interresting 😂
I want that Pinion MGU on an urban minimalistic folder bike
why didn't you talk about the pinion auto-change,
Nice! But where are the quality mid-drive full suspension ebikes under $2000.00?
No tq motors, 0:15 like on the trek exe, they are German, no bikes there using them? So they do not compare?
Interesting facts: 80% of bikes being tested were electric. Motors incorporating a gearbox? Perfect.
You guys being there to share the tech? Brilliant.
I cannot wait to see it in the market. Thanks Guys.
Could it be that less people have ridden an e bike, so would be more interested in trying one? Also, no mention of the percentage ratio of available ebikes/bikes for demo.
@@crankshoptv8141 That is a very strong possibility since it is a venue that will attract curious minds.
@@richardharker2775 I certainly wouldn't be interested in riding an Enduro bike around some tarmac. But I'd happily zip around on a powered ladies shopper!
Which eBike motor is bigger in size Panasonic vs Bosch CX?
Hola la ebike stock peso real son 20 kg? Un saludo y gracias
I'm sorry to say, I don't think you two are the best people to do a deep dive into any of these motor gearbox combinations. I rode both the high speed and restricted Pinion today and found the gear 8 clunk disconcerting. The controls seemed counter intuitive. I did find the Bulls single pivot design quite comfy and definitely better than the 4 pivot design. As soon as I can get my hands of a flyer demo outside of the show I will try it in the mountains where the 12 speed 900 watts combination should be interesting.
Why was it defiant? Did it fight you? Or do you mean definitely.
@@vashon100 there you go, fixed it for you
Good to see so many innovative bikes using belt drives😁👍 I'm an old guy riding on roughish surfaces plus tarmac and chains are so maint heavy and not cheap to replace either. I don't hurtle up or down any mountains, just need quiet, effective longevity, that costs less than £3k!
The end of the derailleur is nigh. I give it at most another 18 months before giving it the last rites. Also kissing goodbye to the chain in favour of a belt drive with see no complaints from me. Simple, robust and cheap both in maintenance and running cost. Result!
What is gravity based angles?
Thank you for your comment and thank you for coming to our exhibition😁
I'd like to see the internal geared systems work with "no power" bikes or, for when I'm riding for 8 hours and my battery dies....??
I personally enjoy the 46/16 ratio for single or two speed bikes.
Been listening to this guy bang on about e mountain bikes for the past two years and although informative he never criticises any of theses bikes . Which hurts his creditability.
Best of your three videos.
Surely someone is working on a motor that works with resistance & cadence to replicate a gearbox/derailer similar to the powershift but all integrated in the motor.
Really like this channel, good explanations of bikes. The only thing I find a bit weird is they hardly ever talk about Haibike.. why is that?
I have been riding my full 7 10.0 Haibike since 2018. Sweet bike but no mention here of the new Haibike Lyte! Not sure why...
Seems everyone is now throwing their hat into the ring with new motors and transmissions. How many will be left after 5 or so years? Could it be the new entrants have an eye on the e-motorbike and e-car industry?
More gearboxes! Derrauliers are the nightmare of the ebikes
Derailleurs vs Derrauliers
Ha come to New Zealand. There's no speed limits for E bikes here bar the stated road speed limit. And we can have throttles 😮
I want to see proper IP ratings and far better reliability
First Bike i see with a design i like - GASGAS! Why don't you show more?
However you look at it, Pinion, changed the philosophy of ebike design.
To borrow Thomas Kung's famous words, Pinion accomplished a PARADIGM SHIFT, in the philosophy of ebike design.
Imagine.
No muddy bent rear derailleur.
No cassette
No chains
Adaptive electronic shifting
You could shift without pedaling!!
10-thousand-kilometer oil change.
That Gates carbon belt drive is basically almost indestructible, last between 15 to 30 thousand kilometers!!
Incredible power 85 NM
600% gear range
The gearing system is basically indestructible and maintenance free.
Super easy to clean.
And it looks so unified and integrated!
Pinion created the ONE ebike motor to rule them all.
Maindbwoing bike's sweet i have bulls Lt Bosch cx
Why are we not seeing (or hearing about) more carbon fiber framed e-bikes, especially with the Pinion drive? It seems silly to charge the (frankly) RIDICULOUS amounts of prices for some of these bikes and not invest in weight reduction, especially for the mountain bike segment. As far as I am aware, even the Bulls Vuca Evo AM1 and AM2 are carbon frames with a metal rear 4 link. You'd think that of all the places to reduce weight, the rear subframe would be one of the biggest targets.
What no jet engine?
I don't think I care anymore for e-bikes that don't have the Pinion MGU on them... Fact
Why is the Crossworks bike so full of rust?
Damn you technology. I need to upgrade my ebike but if I do today it will be obsolete tomorrow. Like literally tomorrow.
you look like kids in a candy store... so i am leaning toward the carbon belt drives.. were there any Yamaha motors there?
in electric car the car needs to make a huming noise to warn people of the car, with commuting bikes are the safty law the same
Surely a belt drive will never work on a mountain bike. Muck and mud will just build up on the inside edge of the belt, whereas a trad chain is cleaned out constantly by the teeth on sprockets?
If they work fine on the mud for bikepacking they should work fine in the mud for mountain biking, and CYCLINGABOUT did a review of the gates carbon drive after 10 years of use on bikepaking.
Nonsense
gates and muddy wheater?
And lots of drag stealing power from your battery
Why does everything have that top-tube hump? It's ugly, reduces standover, and is weaker than if the tube was just straight.
Why waste so much time on a bike with 2 gears!? Oh yeah, its a Bosch🙄 You could have test ridden something useful ffs, you didnt even mention Pinions autoshifting.
FYI, you appear inexperienced when you don't adjust the seat to your leg length. Just sayin.
yea did look odd..
He is only spinning up and down a short car park ....
Exactly, I agree. At least he doesn't have an ugly tattoo addiction like the other guy.
I like how EMTB is looking more and more like a monster truck!🤮
I found it weird that ebikes have gears. I don't know much about ebikes, but electric cars don't have gears, so I feel this just makes more sense.
that’s because an electric car is powered solely by its motor, an EMTB is only assisted by its motor, it still requires you to pedal, thus It gears to help give you a mechanical advantage and aid your pedal effort.
Can you pedal 450 rpm?
We humans have become so lazy that we need support to cycle.
It is well past time to ditch the chain & derailleur... the cost, wear, maintenance, weakness etc makes it totally out of date for today... e-bikes are a product of the 21st century, why hobble them with such outdated mechanisms...?
The bikes made for over 65's and non achievers .😂😂
