The 2022 Samsung Frame TV: 4K and Zero Glare?

  • The 2022 Samsung Frame television can showcases lifelike canvas textures - in broad daylight, even in a room filled with windows (like our) - thanks to is groundbreaking new matte finish. We couldn't believe it until we saw it for ourselves! You'd think something would have to be sacrificed - namely color and contrast. Nope. Samsung's famous Quantum Dot tech still shows a billion shades of color accurately and vibrantly.
    Of course, Samsung's 2022 Frame TV is more than just a kick-butt television. It's a computer monitor. It works great with our PS5 with a 120Hz refresh rate. It can even work with your smartphone as a huge wall-sized videophone. The Frame works with Apple's AirPlay or Android via Samsung's SmartThings. Change 100s of FREE web-based TV channels with Samsung's free TV Plus. Open apps, play music, control your smart devices - all with your voice. Don't like Samsung Bixby? No worries. Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant are built in.
    And the bonus? When it's not showing television, it looks like an actual piece of framed art - complete with customizable frames, mats, and even special effects. Yes, you can upload your own art and photographs and showcase those. We did - it's amazing. Not an artist? No worries. For a reasonable monthly (or even better annual fee - we paid $49), you can display some of the greatest art from galleries all over the world in your own home or office. And when you're not in the room, your Samsung Frame television is smart enough to know to turn off your display until you come back. That's pretty amazing.
    Samsung The Frame TVs range from 43" to 75" and include table-top stands and all the wall mounting hardware you'll need. They look amazing on the wall, and still very cool on a table top too. Oh - the breakout box is connected by one surprisingly thin, almost transparent cable, so you can easily hide it out of the way without gobs of nasty black cables hanging down your wall.

      There actually is a tiny bit of glare that's only noticeable when you close the blinds. The contrast improves dramatically in a darker room. Nonetheless, it's still pretty amazing in broad daylight sitting directly across the room from three gigantic windows.

      Those are EXCELLENT questions. Looking at it right now, and I see a single USB 2.0 port in the breakout box. That's probably capable of thousands of photos, I would assume. From past experience with other models, we've seen issues with internal RAM causing freezing depending on the photo resolution. We haven't tried this yet but will add it to our follow-up video next month. Regarding cloud storage, guessing the two photos we uploaded to the Art Gallery are probably stored locally, but can't find Samsung documentation that states where these are located. Interesting. yeah man, no glare but what about the contrast ratio?

    • @FreshandFelicia
      @FreshandFelicia  2 года назад

      Unfortunately, "contrast ratio" is a BS marketing term. There really is no accepted industry engineering standard as to how to measure contrast ratio. One TV manufacturer could measure the maximum light output of 1 pixel driven at some normally unobtainable maximum, then measure that same pixel with no signal going to it at all. I may measure 20,000:1, while some other bro measures 1,000:1 with his Datacolor Spyder. And what exactly should you measure? I would say a black field (0 IRE) from a DVD/Blu-ray or signal generator, and a white field (100 IRE) from the same, in the same mode, after calibration. This certainly gets a view of the overall contrast ratio, but isn't terribly relevant with actual video (which is never totally dark or totally white). Good luck generating those signals as a layman (RUclips won't do it). Also, what about a TV where the dynamic circuitry can't be disabled? Since there are no legal or accepted standards, TV companies write whatever they want.
      As a matter of fact, Samsung doesn't even publish a contrast ratio for The Frame 2022. I'd rather have no estimate rather than an outright lie. My advice? Ignore the contrast ratio BS, and see the screen for yourself. In my humble opinion, in a modestly lit or dark room, the contrast looks great. Black looks black, white looks white, and everything in between looks perfect.

  • @kheath580
    @kheath580 2 года назад +1

    the matte coating really dulls the blacks though.

    • @FreshandFelicia
      @FreshandFelicia  2 года назад +1

      In a bright room, any TV will have dull blacks because the LED backlights are juiced up fully. But at least you can actually see the picture with this screen. At night, the contrast rivals our old glossy model. It's tight - Sam did a helluva job with this model. You need to see this for yourself.

    Without mentioning the groundbreaking anti-glare screen, what really sets the Samsung Frame TV apart from your typical flat panel is that it’s designed to blend into your space. The bezel is designed to look like a picture frame and you can choose from over 1,000 different paintings, photographs and art pieces to display when you’re not busy watching Disney+. You don’t even have to worry about flipping it on before guests arrive: If you turn on the TV’s built-in sensor, it automatically displays your favorite art whenever someone is in the room, and powers down when there’s no one around. The Frame TV features a stunning 4K resolution and offers 100% color volume for an awesome viewing experience whether you’re watching football, Better Call Saul, or a Star Wars movie marathon. It also features adaptive sound so that dialogue and music are crisp and clear. This really is the best TV for all situations.

      Sounds like a well-written professional product review! Someone has done their homework.

    I want one but the reviews on Samsungs site are all awful. You can’t clean it it smudges. It loses power on half the screen. It takes ages to navigate the menu. It killed the cat. Etc etc

      People are weird. We cleaned smudges with a little vinegar and water on a microfiber towel and they lifted flawlessly. Haven't seen any loss of power on the screen, but the in-home warranty would cover that. And we really hate cats, so that's a good thing 🤣
