Hi there , have just got one this week . So far so good , it does everything that my Hornby Elite did but a lot easier to access the functions and CV settings .
Thanks for the video. Just ordered this unit to replace my basic hornby analogue controller. Super excited for it to show up. Should be an awesome upgrade for not a bad price.
I was gifted the NCE basic controller and have also used the Digitrax system as a guest. Both ultimately work and run trains. I’m the end I’m not really paying attention to the controller beyond using it to run a train. Nice video! Did you use your RUclips red cup video holder as well? :)
Yeah, I doubt there is really any real operational difference between the systems. Part of the reason I got Digitrax is because I was more familiar with it from my research. Unfortunately, the cup did not see action in this video.
I'm currently using the NCE Powercab and it works great, but I feel the Digitrax has more/better options when connecting to PC and with the Digitrax LNWI module, this enables extra train control using phone or iPad via WiThrottle app. I will be purchasing the Digitrax DCS52 Zephyr Express 3amp DCC Starter Set very soon. *** UPDATE *** Got my new Digitrax DCS52 a couple of days back and I must say... I LOVE IT. Extremely very user friendly and with the large screen, very intuitive. Only one small issue when compared to the NCE Powercab... The RECALL button. On the Powercab it's very quick to swap back and forth between loco's at the flick of a button. Just ONE button press. BUT the Digitrax requires 4x separate button presses to swap between recall loco's. Also it's not as good recalling loco's when the loco you currently have control of is still in motion, and here's why.... If you're running a loco forward and you want to recall a loco that is up against a buffer stop and you need to move this loco away in reverse from the buffer stop, then be careful, because the new recalled loco is going to go forward into the buffer at whatever speed the previous loco (prior to the recall) was running at. The NCE Powercab recall function works better because when selecting a new loco from the recall list, Nothing happens until you set direction then dial up the speed. Big points to the Powercab for the way it handles Recalls.
Didn't see your comment in time, was going to recommend a WifiTrax panel for your NCE setup, would allow use of 4 wifi throttles, quite simple.... it will be my next step. You're keeping the Power Cab I hope! If Digitrax had their new current throttles out when I bought my stuff I may have went that route, but I got it all together at a show, new, for about $425-450, so I snagged a Power Cab, Cab06, SB5, and a cat5 fascia panel all in one swoop... I will likely get a Digitrax at some point, just because, and also want to try the Wifitrax panel that is a 5A setup with wifi all in a self contained board...
You're right, this version is just a slightly updated version released a few years ago. It has a few upgrades, like soft keys and an improved screen, but it really is probably just the same internally. Thanks for the comment, hope you enjoyed the video!
There aren’t any wires that come with the system. I connected it to the Bachmann track by cutting the end that usually plugs into the power pack off, pulling the two wires apart, stripping the ends, then attaching them to the screw terminals marked for a programming track. Then you just plug the track plug into the Bachmann track and you’re off and rolling.

Nice! Glad you’re enjoying it.
I wish I could be as excited as you about packing peanuts and a bag.

Good stuff, liked and subbed... keep it up!
Interesting video. Keep it up!

Nce stuff is good, and with a wifitrax it can get even better... loving mine so far and hope to add wifi instead of radio to my collection soon.

I agree, I feel that the Digitrax system is more technologically advanced than the NCE system. Glad you found the video helpful.

The zephyr was introduced about the same time as the power cab if memory serves me right

Are there any wires that come with that controller? and how do you connect it to bachmann track?

I think I'll get me one.
