    I'm definitely not hardcore enough to ever attempt a line like this but... does this even count as skiing? Or just like, vertical hiking?

      just scoping the line for when the snow conditions are better to ski it more proper

    i rode this one today. was a bit more filled in but dust on crust and still very sharky. was happy i decided to snowboard today instead of ski. having 25cm less length was nice in the chokes

    0:17, I can't do kick turns...cause I don't have the hip external rotation...I should fix that....they can save you in some gnarly situations

    That wasn't so much a line, but more like downhill hiking with skis on. I've been there myself and you did a good job.

    Is this between 2nd notch and North Pole? Almost dropped into this today but i'm glad I didn't, it gets way tighter after you go around that big rock at the top. I'd love to poke in here one day!

    Um… one look at the rocks and I would have chosen a skiable line instead. What’s the point of side slipping and rock scraping all that vertical?

  • @rodmunch47

    Much respect for surviving all that, but it does not look like fun at all. It's like start-stop constantly just to find enough snow coverage. Maybe the line needs another foot or two of snow.

    If you had fallen among those dense "shark's teeth" - how would your would-be rescuers have reached you without extreme high risk to themselves? No way to get a sled down that, so probably a helicopter would have been involved, but even so it would need to get dangerously close to terrain that steep.
    I get the thrill of accomplishment of successfully skiing challenging terrain, but there comes a point where you put others at unacceptably dangerous risk if you miscalculate your ability to choose and execute a long sequence of challenging, risky moves.

    • @Zach_Ryan
      @Zach_Ryan  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@TheNcmore “if you miscalculate” I understand your point but I did not miscalculate. I am moving at an extremely slow pace to ensure every calculated move is accomplished successfully. Resorts that have this type of terrain also have ski patrollers that are regularly trained in high angle rescue skills. Most of the ski patrollers here are my friends and close acquaintances and putting them in danger is always at the forefront of my mind when making decisions on whether or not I am capable of skiing any specific piece of terrain

    • @Zach_Ryan

      solo dolo on this one, its not always the best skiing but more so just getting to know the line for when the snow is right and you can ski it more fluidly.

  • @alanbrown5802

    Well done! However, I'm of the opinion that just because you can doesn't mean you should. Steep is steep but too many rocks to enjoy. Imo
