    In the first RDR Dutch kind of seemed like a wild dog with no plan other than chaos. He's dirty, he kills innocent people, he's almost evil. But in the end, despite John walking out of a corridor of the cave Dutch talks to John a moment, throws his gun off a cliff, before throwing himself off. After playing RDR2 and seeing how clean and organized he used to be EVERYTHING in RDR hits differently. In my mind, the last scene with Dutch hits the hardest. He throws himself off a cliff, so John can go back to his family, in my mind at least.
    The Red Dead series is absolutely exquisite!
    Emotional highs and lows, near perfect gameplay for it own genre that it pretty much stands alone in, and characters that are not only fun to play and interact with but that can tug at your heartstrings and make you feel like you're a part of the story yourself.
    The series best not end here of Rockstar knows what's best for them.

      I don't think Dutch killed himself for John and his family. It's more likely that he just wanted to go on his own terms, since killing John was no longer an option. At the end, Dutch knew his death would not keep John and his family safe, because he knew that Ross and his men would have to find another monster to kill after they've dealt with him, and John was the most likely candidate for that.

    I have seen Dutch in rdr2 as serious, inteligent man who fight for freedom, against great unfairness. Now in rdr1 he just lost his mind, no more elegant leader with genius within him. Just next murder who lost track of his life

    • @godfrey4461
      @godfrey4461 Год назад

      Truth is Dutch was always a murderer. His gang just kept him from going off the deep end. Many ppl forget that Dutch is a criminal at heart and it can be assumed he was one pretty much his whole life. Dutch from the start of Red Dead 2 is shown to think his ideals exist over everyone else because of "corruption". Its the reason Hosea warned of not robbing the train, but Dutch saw it as something worth doing despite needing to lay low. Dutch justifies his actions by labeling them as a means to an end for some great goal. You can even see him do that in this video. Once his facade of a grand leader with a plan slips, his true colors show. He's a cold blooded egotistical killer who ultimatly never had a plan outside of causing mayham.

Dutch is an entirely broken man by RDR1. The Gang in RDR2 is pretty much symbolic for how twisted Dutch's personality is. There are many different characters, some with good morals and some with bad morals. Dutch had these morals as well and attracted ppl with the same. The way things played out in RDR2 showed us why he ended up the way he was in the first game, with ppl that always kept him tied to his good sides dying and leaving him with ppl who only resonated with his bad sides.
    It would be awesome to see a younger Dutch, when it was only him, Hosea and Arthur (and maybe John). I know it won't happen, but RDR3 could be showing that Story, of how the gang formed over the years, with it ultimately ending in the Blackwater heist.

    i mean, he’s got a point tho.
    in my eyes, dutch always cared about the gang. he was a good man, fighting and robbing his way to provide for the gang. he started to lose his mind after the death of hosea and was manipulated by micah.
    whereas john only cared for himself. he didn’t think about how the other gang members felt, he only cared about the certainty of him living a peaceful life with his family. also when jack was born he didn’t know what to do so the first thing he did was run away for a few years. now, don’t get me wrong, john is a good person, but he is selfish.

    • @Wveth
      @Wveth 3 месяца назад

      If you think Dutch cared more for other people than John (by the time chapter 6 ends, let's say), you're misreading one or both of them. John cares, but he knows he can't save everyone. Choosing to be a good father and husband when it's such an alien idea is NOT selfishness. Providing for one's family is not selfishness.
      Dutch is selfish by the end of chapter 6 because ultimately no, he isn't providing for the gang. He's demanding the gang provide for him, because HE'S the one who needs to be worshipped, and he forbids them from leaving even when they're in mortal danger. It's all about what Dutch wants and it was that way during the time Dutch is talking about here. He's just lying and trying to make himself out to be better than he is. He's a narcissist.

    God RDR 2 makes Dutch's fall from grace so tragic. There were two versions of Dutch in my head the gentle "Our time has passed, when I'm gone they're going to just make another monster" That was the leader John knew, that was the Dutch we saw in the opening chapters of this game. A flawed man, an outlaw, and a good man. "I don't know, Sport I guess?" That's the Dutch who just lost his damn mind, who fell to far and he knows it too. He knows that the buck stopped with him. Yeah Micha helped but at the end of the day, Dutch was the boss, he had the power to say no. However, he doesn't want to admit he was wrong so he just decided to embrace the monster he became and it's just so to said to see.
